I still remember that day. Siasia was the first to approach him. He immediately put his hand to his head as he beckoned to the sidelines for help. It was a sad day despite the victory. Losing the qualification ticket to Cameroon at the end of the qualifiers made it worse. Hhm, continue to rest in perfect peace Sam.

And I'm guessing someone gets paid to carry out research and write this unnecessary responses to attacks from every Tom, Di.ck and Harry who tackle the Presidency? Can't the Presidency just focus on the more serious issues at hand instead of flexing muscles with every single critic?

And then they quoted Wikileaks! Like seriously? Even went as far as saying El-Rufai lied about the Turai cabal for his own interest. Hello!!! GEJ is the ultimate beneficiary of the "fight" against the "phantom" Turai cabal! So maybe GEJ and El-Rufai were in it together then.

So El-Rufai is a liar! Is that breaking news? Is GEJ, Abati and the rest of their media team not filled with the same kind? Or who lied to us that Patience was in good health and not ill in a German hospital? El-Rufai?

Abeg, work at fulfilling your election promises. We are not interested in all this roforofo fight.

DMainMan: Dont u guys understand me ni.

We were relegated in 1912/1913 but didnt go to d lower division cos of war. So technically, we havent play in lower division.

In 1919, we changed our name to Arsenal and since den we havent been relegated.

Source:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promotion_and_relegation

Arsenal of England, for instance, has only
been relegated once in their entire
history at the end of the 1912–13 season,
and have been in the top flight
continuously since 1919 – by far the
longest such run in English football
Hhm, tori don dey change. Now it is "we were relegated but technically we've not played in the lower division." I hear you.

My dear, your comments shows that she is wrong, not right. If you dont watch it, I cant stand it and several others think it is crap, then how can people generalize and say that 150 million plus Nigerians are hypocrites? We might as well conclude that Nigerians are terrorist because of BH. We might as well agree with the £3000 visa bond since Nigerians are general flight risks. Lets also generally agree that we are all fraudsters too.
Until I see stats that prove that more Nigerians watch BBA than those who dont like you, she is talking trash.

Of course Nigerians would always be the highest subscribers. The population of Lagos alone would dwarf the total population of several countries. Sorry, but I dont see your point. Besides, do you know how many millions of Nigerians cant afford Dstv?

Until she can provide me with stats that prove that more than 60% of Nigerians subscribe to Dstv because of BBA, she is blowing hot air. Naija people subscribe to Dstv mainly because of AfricaMagic and Supersports. That some peeps enjoy BBA doesnt make us all hypocrites. Besides, if her movie is such a hit, let her get the more liberal Americans to buy it now. Abi na by force to break into Naija market?

And even if your assertion were correct, which with all due respect I doubt, how many years has it been since 1960, and how many governments have we had since then, democratic and otherwise. Next we'll blame the British. Truth is selfish agendas are at the root of the problem.
Politics › Re: Rivers Sends Its Destitute To Home States, Plans Another by dabossman(m): 12:13pm On Aug 06, 2013
Manlado: Our problem is predicated on a faulty constitution.

Citizenship..
State of origin
Local government of origin
Family yard or family of origin.

In the end, even those who were born and raised 10000 miles from there greatgrand father's village are associated forever.

Thinking that this would change merely by staying in a location forever would change that. Will be wrong.

Redefine what makes us Nigerians and abolish all these origin wahala, then we can move forward to address issues that affect mankind.
And may the good Lord bless you. This has always been my take on that misnomer we call "State of Origin." Every form you want to fill in this country, they will ask "state of origin?". To register your SIM card, register your child in school, fill a medical form, even tax form, they will ask "state of origin?" Please what is the essence of such information? What has my state of origin got to do with my sim card? Do I pay taxes to my state of origin when I was born in Lagos, and have lived there most of my life? How does state of origin affect my medical records?

Why can't an Hausa or Ibo man be considered a Lagosian if he was born in Lagos and has lived there forever? Why can't a Yoruba boy in Kaduna claim that state as his home state?

Funny enough, our International Passport doesn't carry "State of Origin", but "place of Birth. That should tell us what is more important and where you origin truly is

KenGali: Your comments are laughable, Anambra state is not a country, United States is a Country. Lagos State cannot make any such communication to United States outside the purview of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Education these days must be really lacking. Your analogy is simply null.
And he misses the entire point. What is the essence of filling in "State of Origin" in every official and unofficial document if such a state can't even respond to your need in distress. Be it a country or a state, shouldn't your own be concerned about you? Is that not why we are in the mess we are in? Leaders who do not care about the governed?

If Anambra state was indeed informed that their indigenes were in a rehab facility and needed re-integration with their families, would it have been out of place for the relevant agencies in their state to have responded promptly?
Politics › Re: Documents Show Lagos Informed Anambra Government Before Alleged Deportation by dabossman(m): 8:52pm On Aug 02, 2013
While I do not support the dumping of fellow Nigerian citizens on some bridge in the dead of night, I think the Anambra State government cannot be excused in this matter if they were indeed briefed. If a government is informed that some of its indigenes are destitute or in distress and may need to be re-integrated with their families back home, I think it is the duty of such government to even champion and make arrangements on how their own "sons" will return home safely.

I cannot imagine that the US embassy would be informed that an American citizen is destitute or mentally challenged and roaming the streets of Lagos, and then they will be waiting for the Lagos State government to inform them on when such a citizen can be taken home and by what means. They would immediately show up to pick up their own, book him a flight and return him home.

I would like to know if the Anambra Liason Office that responded to the LASG letter even bothered to visit the rehab facility to identify their own who are in distress, and if they even bothered to ensure that their indigenes are treated fairly.

This goes to show how much our governments across all tiers care about us. What then is the essence of the ignominous "State of Origin" if one's state cannot even respond with promptness and concern when its indigene needs its help. Naija I hail thee.

Richfella: Lol, the fact that you had to call Knorr 'Knorr Cube Maggi' should tell you a lot. It's as taboo as calling 'Pepsi' 'Coke'. The owners of the Knorr brand will definitely not be happy with you right now grin.

Usually, the market leader becomes the name of the category. Bic or Biro now means pen. Google now means search (It's even a verb - "Google it!".

All the other noodles in the market are called Indomie because Indomie is the market leader (with 60% market share or there about).

It doesn't matter really. The market leader is always the 'better' brand.

There's no way in hell I can possibly tell that a particular meal was prepared with either Maggi or Knorr, but I am to go to the market, I will pick Maggi 100% of the time BECAUSE I've known Maggi from 200 years when I was a baby.

Blind taste tests results show that people prefer Pepsi to Coke...but when the labels are on; the majority goes with coke. Weird huh??
Lol at the bolded. I remember a friend who went to the UK came back and said UK Fanta tastes better than Naija. Poured both in different glasses and all of a sudden the dude couldn't tell the difference. Newest one I heard recently is foreign KFC tastes better than Naija KFC. Tasted it first in the UK then Naija. Can't tell the difference o. Sometimes, it's all in the mind.

Many of the same people hang their clothes to dry beneath fans during the rain season.
Thank you o naptu2. I have a small clothe rack that I even put on my balcony. You can never see it from the outside because it is not as high as the concrete 'railings'. With hangers I can spread a lot on it. The thought of dangling it over the railings for the whole world to see just gives me the creeps.

pro01: And what about landlords who do not and cannot provide clothes lines at the back of the house due to limited space and whatnot? What should the tenants do?

Have you not seen some houses in Lagos where there isn't even enough space to park a motorcycle, let alone space for clothes lines; some of these houses have over a hundred inhabitants with little extra space for anything.

You think someone living in a big enough compound, with designated clothes lines in the backyard would prefer to hang their clothes on the fence? That is the problem with some of us: we are so self-centred and smug that we do not take time to empathise with other people's situations. Reminds me of the Okada ban imbroglio. Because some of us are privileged to have private cars, we think the millions others that do not have that privilege - who would suffer the hardships associated with that policy - should go to hell, even when there are clearly no alternatives.

I assume that many of the "educated" people condemning this senseless policy here do have clothes lines in thier houses, and do use them. However, they are fair-minded and sensible enough to know that the majority of Lagos residents live in houses where there are no clothes lines, or where the available ones are not sufficient to serve all the residents because of limited space. What should they do? Spread their clothes in their living rooms?

In a poor and underdeveloped country such as ours with limited options, why should a serious government waste valuable time and resources on enforcing this, of all the more pressing problems facing the populace?
So because some greedy landlord did not put what is at best a basic amenity in his house the environment should suffer. Okay then let all those whose houses dont have a simple pit laterines start dumping theis sh*t on the street too. And if your apartment is too small to take all your stuff, please feel free to keep some out in the open, maybe on parked cars on the street. I wonder how much space one needs to spread clothes anyway? A football field? You dont have to be 'privileged' to be neat. Poverty does not equate to being dirty or untidy.

The question you should be asking is 'will touts extort you if you simply do what is sensibly right?' How hard is it to run a clothline at the back of your house, away from public view? Poverty doesn't equate to squalor and tardiness. I hope you know that?

Don't mind that dolo. My late semi-illiterate grandfather never allowed his tenants to spread clothes on the balcony railings of his house in Mushin of all places as far back as the 70's and 80's. He provided clothlines at the back of the house. Its a shame that "educated" people on Nairaland will even be excusing this dirty practice.
