Before I post....my views have been the same for a long time....and I do not support the APC. My view of Nigerian Political parties is....they are our servants, and if they do not do well...they must be replaced.

The way Nigerians view political appointments is very retrogressive. A political appointment is not meant to bring the national cake closer to you and your tribespeople. An appointment is meant to do a specific job....and to do it well. Thus...Buhari's new chief of staff is supposed to be just that....his chief of staff. He is not meant to be the one who will be dashing money to his people.

You know.....whether Buhari appoints all Northerners or all Southerners does not bother me now. It did ten years ago....but not now. Because....I am supposed to have my governors, and my LG chairmen....who are from my state and region...and who are meant to do the job i voted them for.....which is to work to bring development for my region.

You know....we keep calling for true federalism in this country....yet the way we react when people are appointed to office does not leave much hope for true federalisim. If we are judging our chances of development for our states and regions by the number of federal appointees from our areas....and not by what we and our local leaders...governors, LG chairmen, even traditional chiefs, local leaders,, et al....do.....then we are not ready to be a federal country. We are ready for unitary government....which I thought we were opposed to once upon a time.

I know that people will call me a Northern slave for saying this....but I think that it is high time we stopped bothering about the tribe and region of who Buhari appoints. I did not bother about the tribe of GEJ or Yaradua, and even OBJ's appointees. Instead...I focused on their performance in the job they were supposed to do . And I think it is high time Nigerians judged people by the content of their character, and not by their tribe. Because what Nigerians, in times past and even now, are doing...by focusing on tribe instead of character and competence... is nothing more than immature behaviour. It is time we ended the idea of a national cake...and the idea of connections via appointments to get to the national cake. If Buhari appoints all his ministers from Igbo land tomorrow....that does not mean Igbo land will get developed. And the same goes for other tribes...because getting extra money does not equal development.

You leave your Governor, National Assembly Reps (Senate and HoR), Local Government chairman, all of whom are from your state and should ensure it's development, to focus on federal appointees for MDA's. Pray tell, how will the President's SSG and Chief of Staff bring development to your local community or tribe when in actual fact they are basically part of the President's staff and cannot function independent of his instructions?

When news of appointments break out, the fist thing people will do is check the state of origin. Really? So track record is no longer important? Mr Fowler that was a Southerner was he not later shown to have fake certificates? The way I'm seeing it, people would prefer him to employ incompetent people from their regions rather than competent people from the North. Then when governance become business as usual, we start crying for our sorry selves. I really don't know when and how manage Nigeria moved from having two Muslim Presidential candidates without anyone batting an eyelash to all this religious and ethnic melodramas.

Honestly I'm beginning to get tired of the Nigerian dream. Maybe I should just relocate to the USA or something. Nigerians really get what they deserve. I'm just happy that Buhari doesn't seem moved by unnecessary outcries and may God grant him the strength to be able to remain resilient and focused on his mission.

It is really sad indeed. I grew up in a country where we kicked against federal character and championed the course of appointments being made on merit and competence irrespective of tribe or ethnic region. Today's youth are the opposite. They are more concerned about what ethnic tribe gets what. Such a shame. They never seem to learn. Ask them what their local government chairmen, Senators, house of reps members and Governors who are their kinsmen have done to better their lives in the last 16 years. Nothing much you'll discover. Yet, they still believe it is having their kinsman holding some federal position that will better their lot. What did the previous ones do for you, be it Northerner or Southerner? Nothing much really, other than loot you blind. Yet these youths will not learn. And these are the ones who will want to take over after all these old politicians are dead and gone? This ethnic bigots who take joy in calling another person a tribal bigot when they are just as guilty?

Build yourself and your business first, find customers by ALL means, sell something to them and make sure they come back AGAIN. If they complain, LISTEN and take action. Let's be honest with ourselves; it was nothing more than a change of nomenclature; and you don't need that to improve curriculum. The real problem is our warped and unfair disregard for polytechnic and college of education qualifications. We need to give them the respect they deserve in society and stop making it seem like they are inferior.

I guess you just started supporting United. This is not the worst start I have seen United have. We've come from being 12 points behind in February to win the league. Or do you think Leicester will win the league because they've had a fairy tale start. Or is Chelsea out of the race already because they are yet to win?
My point is, the league is a marathon not a sprint. Yes, we are not at our best, but the team can still pick up. It is not yet time to conclude that a team can't win the league
