Soo much noise about this list as if nigerian life depends on it
I tire o! As if all the ministers we've had since 1960 have transformed the nation to a developed, first class nation. I'll only get excited when I begin to see performance, and critic when there is non-performance. For now na to siddon look.

Politics › Re: PDP Senators Kick As Buhari Fails To Submit List Of Ministers - Vanguard by dabossman(m): 4:11pm On Sep 30, 2015
dougivilla:
Lets get it straight. The president did not promise Nigerians that he will transmit a list to the senate by September ending, but to name his ministers before the said self imposed deadline.

This presupposes that the list would have been handed over to the senate much earlier and by now we would be having the ministers. But alas, the APC led government of PMB has failed another litmus test and broken another promise. Neither the list nor the substantive ministers are yet available.

When one devotes too much energy to badmouthing predecessors, govern via body language and pursue perceived and real enemies, at the expense of equally or more critical governance, political and economic issues, there are chances he would be distracted on his mission. That is if he had one.

What next now?

Same question on my mind. If indeed they came on bicycles, then Boko boys are really running out of resources. There was a time when they stormed villages in convoys of Hilux vans. Now they use bicycles?

This is such a sad incident. May those criminals meet their Waterloo soon. This reminds me of an analogy I always give when some people defend alleged looters of our treasury with arguments like "leave him, he is not the only one", "why are they witch hunting him?", "all of them are thieves, why only him".

If one of these three robbers/rapists is caught now, would anyone of us here say "leave him, after all he wasn't the only one?" Ponder on that.

Politics › Re: Appointments: Shun Ministerial Positions, Ohanaeze Urges Igbo by dabossman(m): 10:06am On Sep 29, 2015
liberty300:
what do you mean "no direction"? They want Biafra and they're working towards it and you're saying "no direction". An example of "no direction" is the likes of akintola, awolowo, abiola, adekunle etc being betrayed by the north yet there people still associate with the same north..that's directionless
I read the bolded part of your message with amusement. I really don't like getting involved in all these ethnocentric discussions some of you love to get enmeshed in but this misconception that keeps getting passed around is laughable. Truth is, if you know your history, then you'll know that since 1960 till date, different tribes have constantly aligned with one another to gain political power or relevance.

Facts:

1. When no party won a majority during the 1959 elections, the NPC which had control of the Northern Region (Hausa-Fulani), led by Ahmadu Bello combined with the NCNC which had control of the Eastern Region (Igbo) led by Nnamdi Azikiwe to form a government with Tafawa Balewa as Prime Minister and Azikiwe as Governor-General. An Igbo-Hausa partnership. The Action Group (AG) which had control of the Western Region (Yoruba), led by Obafemi Awolowo was the opposition party.

2. In 1963, the NCNC led by Azikiwe split with the NPC and joined with a splinter of the Action Group led by Obafemi Awolowo to form the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA) while the NPC led a coalition with Akintola's faction of the old AG to form the Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP). Hence an Igbo-Yoruba coalition went against the NPC.

If you consider that ancient history, then...

3. In 1999 when Nigeria returned to democracy, the North (Hausa-Fulani) and East (Igbo) voted for the PDP (People's Democratic Party) to bring in Obasanjo and Atiku. The West (Yoruba) voted the AC (Action Congress) instead, once again emerging as the opposition. This North-East coalition continued in 2003, and 2007, even at a time when there was a largely Igbo party in APGA. In 2011, the West as we all know voted ACN in the states, but went with PDP's Goodluck Jonathan for Presidency. This we all know.

4. In 2015, the West however aligned fully with the North in the new APC, while the East stuck to the PDP.

Anyone who knows the nation's political history knows this. It has nothing to do with one tribe being subservient to the other. It is simply political alignments in the quest for power.

Let's stop the hate.

Hmmmmm, sooooooooo much inbuilt hatred spewed forth!
Chai!
@Timbuktuo, na wah o. Its only Almighty God that'll save us from ds perennial hatred of one another.
Chai, such hypocrisy........... you smile @ me/can be my "best friend" (sic) just because u want 2 sell ur "market" 2 me but when it's time 2 appoint someone 4 a post, u suddenly remember what my great-grandfather purportedly "did" 2 urs, @ dt point in time u now realise "he's not my brother, I must support my brother"-who hitherto had been of no benefit 2 u!
.
I'm good enuf 2 be ur client but not good euf 2 marry ur son/dota! That's wen u remember that 'Yoruba men marry many wives'......' Igbo men are strong headed'........ 'hausa ppl are religious fanatics'........
.
In church/mosq, 'bro Femi' sees 'bro Emeka' as his brother (and vice versa), but when service 'haff' finish....everybody goes back 2 d 'ethnocentric' trenches.
.
. So, so, sooooo disgusting!
The bolded is what amazes me the most. On some folks Facebook page you will see one scriptural post declaring their faith and love for their brethren, then its immediately followed by an ethnocentric post filled with hate and prejudice. God will help us.

Politics › Re: I Am Being Prosecuted Because I Am Senate President, Says Saraki by dabossman(m): 9:16am On Sep 23, 2015
kazmanbanjoko:
ABUJA- SENATE President Bukola Saraki who appeared before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT following a 13-count charge against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, over alleged falsification of assets he admitted, said Tuesday that if he was not the Senate President, he would not be going through the present trial.
In a statement tilted, “As I Appear Before The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT)” he personally signed Tuesday night, Senate President Bukola Saraki who noted that his appearance before the CCT was a demonstration of his believe in rule of law and respect for the judiciary, said, “Today, I appeared before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for the commencement of my trial in a case concerning the asset declaration form I filled in 2003 after I have explored the opportunity to defend my fundamental human rights in other courts.
“My appearance in court today once again demonstrates my belief in the rule of law and respect for the judiciary of our country.
“As I stated while taking the plea in the case, I reiterate my belief that the only reason while I am going through this trial is because I am Senate President. If I were to be just a Senator, I doubt if anybody will be interested in the asset declaration form I filled over twelve years ago.

But of course sir. You are now the No.3 man in the country, not just any senator. The spotlight is bound to be on you more than others.

While I sincerely feel the Op's pain; I honestly find it hard to get angry at issues of racism these days. If our own brothers with the same skin colour don't even treat us like humans or hate us simply because of a difference in tribe, then why do we expect the white man to treat us better? Like someone said here, we need to be more united, but sadly, we are not. And the world is watching.

Luckily, I've not encountered any form of racism in my travels. If/when I do, maybe I'll be just as angry as the OP. Or maybe I'll just say "what the heck. Even my own country men and fellow Africans aren't any better". Until then.

TRIBALISM is worse than RACISM.
