Jeon:Yeah, the first son looks like someone trying to make a name for himself. The first time I saw him was in that group picture Wills and his family took after the Oscars (in one of the threads in nairaland). Well, Smith has to bear his cross in the marriage. He was the one that choose this current wife over the first wife that gave him peace of mind. |
Jeon:I never knew he was married previously. In Will case, it may not be an issue of karma, but some one who made a very wrong choice in woman. He can't afford to quit his marriage because of the material stuffs he is going to lose (after all his humiliation). On a lighter note, his first son looks responsible enough, dresses responsible, and looks like someone that don't do or take drugs. Smith's other children with Jada is actually something else. Truly, we learn everyday. Thanks for that piece of information about Wills first wife. (A low key woman free from drama). |
Barzoid:Sure, if you have seen those universities, go for it then. |
Barzoid:Yes. |
Adrenaline123:Most schools have exempt list of countries expected to submit TOEFL. Nigeria, and some other countries falls into that list. In conclusion, TOEFL is not really compulsory. On the other hand, GRE seems compulsory in some schools. From my observation so far, Msc applicant don't need it if the school specifically waived it. Others that are lenient on the exam, might need it to distinguish your application when making decisions. If you can afford it, I would encourage you to write the exam. It may be the game changer between securing some form of scholarship or full funding from the said school (though currently, nothing is guaranteed self). So far, from Fall 2023/2024, most schools might revert back to that exam requirement. (Disruption of examination schedules by COVID-19 was the major reason that majority of schools waived that off in the first place.) |
Barzoid:My little answer to the best of my knowledge. 1. In some schools, it would get you a full ride (Tuition waiver with stipends) while in others half ride (Tuition waiver only). Others might offer percentage scholarship that would not even cover your tuition. My little advise is to contact the different universities you have interest in. Check for the undergraduate academic contact person or coordinator, and email him (her) tabling your SAT score with WAEC result. Hopefully, he will be in better position to advice you. Read between lines from their replies, and pick up the schools which offers the best possibility of securing one. Spread your options 2. Some universities have in-house evaluation while others don't have, but depends solely on external evaluation companies under NACES. 3. First thing first. Secure admission and full funding. That two stages are nothing. Few Nairalanders can help you make the payment (SIVES) while you transfer the naira equivalent to them. 4. Your choice. Generally, smart casual, professional or normal is okay. Try and make sure that the colours rhyme. Don't be like some that wear flip-on (slippers), or rioting colour trousers (multi-colour, ripped apart jeans) or simple body fitted polo ( as if they are going on most handsome men audition, or to seduce all the females working in the embassy) ![]() I hope, I have been able to clear all your doubts regarding to your various questions. NB: I'm not aiming for undergraduate program o ![]() |
For2ne:Terrible o. A stem course for that matter |

tiaraLOVE:Hello, Regarding the assistantship position, what are the documents you submitted before securing it? Is there any faculty you contacted after the assistantship position application? Already checking out the school, but need some heads-up on it going by your experience. |
Equity15:Sure bro. As for tuition waiver, it is good. But stipend is also necessary. From my estimate, graduate student needs minimum of 15k dollars to live in USA for 1 year. It is still lots of money bro. |
Equity15:Well, my option is simple. Defer to next academic session that would consider someone for funding if not possible to secure one. If not possible (I mean to defer), well, forfeit the admission then. I gat no thousands of dollars to fork over concerning this admission. |
Equity15:Similar. Last month but got admitted yesterday. Anyway, I would send mail to graduate coordinator to know what their plans are. I would see how it goes. So you have 3 admission, with no funding yet? it is well |
Equity15:No idea bro. Though during application, I indicated that I needed funding. (I can't remember if it was this application that, I told them, I can't attend without funding). When did you apply, and when did you got notified? |
Hello forumite, I came across someone who posted visa transcript or post about Wayne State University. I would not mind if someone can point me to that information. It is on this thread, but while searching on Google, nothing comes up. Modified **Got admitted (No funding yet) |
Terrible news everywhere. Killing mother of your own children ![]() |
Tiqquaya |
johnwizey:Don't mention bro. |
Grateful02: ![]() No wahala boss. I was just sharing my experience, and hopefully, can be able to navigate my way. ![]() Thanks for the offer sha |
CC Johnwizey Another shorter route, is to start reading from page 600 or 700 of this thread. When you come across those who shared about their visa interview experience, check the majority that indicated the name of school they are going to, and if they have full funding. Use pen, pencil and paper to note down those schools. After having a comprehensive list, you can now check them out one after the other on the Internet using your smartphone. Research on the Internet is one of the important need of smartphone, not social media bro. Over and out. Peace |
CC Johnwizey, With regards to some schools which you requested, I was able to draft some list out for the ones you can check out if you don't have any. It is attached below. NB: Fall semester application starts from August to January, 15th If you wish to be considered for priority admission and funding. If you have sponsors or obtained loan, you can still apply for admission after this deadline. For example, for Fall 2022, Spring 2023 and Summer 2023, you are expected to apply between August, 2021 - January 15th, 2022 if you so much desire for funding. Some schools has rolling admission or 2-way admission process just like we have in Nigeria for first batch, and second batch. Do bear in mind that, Fall semester offers most funding with limited opportunities available for Spring semester(if any). I have not heard of any Summer semester funding. My little contribution to this thread.

But, this is terrible. He doesn't even have his own child, but busy raising another man's child all in the name of Love. As a full fledged, and practicing Muslim man, he should know that his seeds bring a living being to this world is what makes him a complete man. |
Didijiji:I don't understand. Are you saying my statement is wrong, or you are concurring to it? ![]() The other region where the difference is more than 15 years is known to you also except you want to turn blind eye to it. A place old men marry multiple wives, with some going for underage children self. |
Wahala be like ekuke dog, e no dey bark when im suppose bark. ![]() It is well. |
Romanoff: You are not serious ![]() In Nigeria, especially a particular region, the average age difference between couples falls within 7-8 years. ![]() While other regions could be as high as 15-20 years difference. |
Scholastica16:Hello bro, How is studies over there, and life? It has been a long time since you dropped by on this thread. |
..... |
CC Kennyg290 Sure, understood your point. It is all good sha. Like you said, it is all about taking risk. |
paulavon:No idea bro. Maybe bank, or from a friend (which you offer him your car to hold unto till you repay the money). |
Yeah, one of my lecturer in the university. People always asked about my elder brother which got me confused till I saw him. Unfortunately, all students never believed that he is not my elder brother till I cleared their doubt one day by telling them he is of another tribe (Yoruba.... no disrespect to the tribe) while I am of another tribe (both of us bearing different surname). To crown it all, he married an Igbo woman .I lost contact with him, and got to find out he relocated to the States (Land of Liberty) with his family when he got PhD scholarship opportunity. |
johnwizey:Bro/sis, Our research interest varies, so also is our undergraduate course which we studied. All I can say is to get your documents ready and research online about universities offering the course(s) which you want. Example, US universities offering Msc in Biology. Go to their finance and aid to check if they offer funding or full scholarship. Then take it up from there. |
paulavon:Alternatively, instead of selling that car at a loss, why don't you use it as collateral and obtain loan. Sort out the visa stuff, and return part of the money to the person while you sort out the remaining balance gradually. It is a win win situation I think. |
