Artexexes:I would want to believe the authenticity of this screenshot because i cross-check the NNPC emails with the ones some people outlined in previous update and it is the same. So congrats to you (if it is real)and i hope others can come and share their testimonies (this i highly doubt though). If it isn't real, then you owe yourself and future monikers a life long ban on this section. Anyways, please delete your screenshot for confidentiality purposes. |
I did my IT in one of the international oil companies in Nigeria. Most of what i learnt was self-taught as the staff were mostly busy, but there were lots of training material which really helped me and made me tow the energy business line. I was sponsored for an important 2-day training after 'pestering' my line manager who was always complaining about the budget. But I made contacts which helped me and has helped me to-date, way beyond what i would have imagined. How i got the placement was funny though. Walking on the streets of VI, I was directed to the company by an Ecobank security guard who advised i should give it a trial after he took a copy of my IT letter and said he will send to the Ecobank's HR. I got to the Oil firm, told them i came to drop my IT letter, submitted and was invited for a test 3 weeks later. |
Jesse777:It may not be asked of you, but it will be wise to have it. |
Chike31:Before you start thinking of French passport, read this: If both parents are foreign, simply being born in France does not confer French citizenship at birth, except for children born to unknown or stateless parents. A child born to foreign parents acquires French citizenship automatically upon turning 18 if all of the following conditions are met: The child was born in France; The child resides in France on his 18th birthday; and The child has had his primary residence in France for a total (but not necessarily continuous) period of at least 5 years since the age of 11 Did you meet these criteria? If No then you were only born in France and benefited from the French healthcare system. |
crestking:So if you visited VFS, had your biometrics and submitted your passport to the VFS representative for them to send to the French embassy, why are you now skeptical?? Anyways, i think you can use this link to confirm your visa number (6 months - 1 year): https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr/particuliers/#/vls-ts/demarches/etape/numero-visa |
kaad:Search for these visa category : “Passeport Talent” “Researcher”, or "Researcher - Mobility" depending on how the PhD is structured. A PhD candidate is normally given a "passeport talent" visa which is 4 years and you will need to pay tax on your allowance/stipends, but the visa has its benefits. I only know of people in France that finished their MSc. on a student visa, got a PhD placement and applied for the 4 year "talent" visa which supports spouse migration. https://france-visas.gouv.fr/fr_FR/web/france-visas/passeport-talents |
SamReinvented:In some countries in Europe, most restaurant close on less rush hours mostly before and after lunch (lunch is 12pm - 2pm) and reopen later in the evening, so it might also be that or as you said. |
fieryy:I actually do. Not saying it doesnt exist, but i haven't experienced any blatant expression of racism. I don't see "stares" as racist though because i have stared before ![]() |
ysd01:Justin Trudeau just won a re-election so at least for the next 4 years that he is still PM, it should not end. |
I have travelled to some European countries and i don't think i have experienced any form of racism. Sometimes, i forget i am black. Most times, what matters is the way you dress, speak and "not being a busy-body". Tip: Always learn the basic greetings of a country whenever you are going to the country and let it be the first word from your mouth when speaking to a foreigner. English is an international language does not mean everyone wants to be greeted in English. |
justwise:Screenshot not access. Two different things. Anyways, check your mail and please withdraw the bolded. Very important. |
justwise:For the bolded, i agree with you. On a final note, as we have derailed this thread for this long, attached is a screenshot of the mail and response you had with Coracle. This is just to corroborate the fact that i actually know a staff of Coracle and his intention was genuine at best, but without proper guidance. I am sharing this for posterity sake and to "clear my name" in the case i decide to run for election later in life and this comment want to be used against me. ![]() Cheers mate!

justwise:Hi Justwise, Yeah i saw it and i think the issue should have been sorted now as i was told the Co-Founder has sent you a mail. To everyone else I am not trying to promote Coracle. I don't have any vested interest in the Business. I don't live in Germany. I don't know anything about Blocked Account or Blocked Funds. The Nigerian who works with Coracle and created the CoracleNG account is my friend and i trust him enough not to have a negative agenda with that account. Thinking outside the box atimes may not totally be a wise move especially if you deal with hyper-sensitive clients. Finally, If you wanna deal with Coracle, please do it through their website and channels stated on their website |
justwise: Just saying, mate. |
justwise:Of course, it is your jurisdiction. I am just giving you a preamble and the "quick ban" after a few posts. Nairaland is a big tool though, and most companies are utilizing it for more reach. |
justwise:Then i think you should make your checks first before issuing out a ban, not hearsay. |
justwise:You do know i am also a moderator right? |
justwise:The person that sent you the email is working from the Hamburg office and i know him. Don't take my word for it. You can confirm too. His words - Over the last few months, students have been having issues with getting their confirmation and the account was opened to help them get things fast-tracked, "as a Naija person" |
Hi Justwise, CoracleNG sent you a mail regarding their ban. That is actually their official handle on Nairaland. |
electromagnito:Most people try to avoid the non renewable permit and go for another "cheap" Masters degree to keep staying back and that is actually not so bad though, i will advise you do that as long as you are able to sustain yourself for the duration. If you take the 1 year, then you may need to properly strategize and things may just work out. Also, you can look at other countries offering free tuition within Europe (say Netherlands or ...etc) for a change of scenery. |
Lexusgs430: You have stayed in the abroad too long sha. That is all i will say to you. |
Lexusgs430:Let me ask you this: Would you eat fried rice and chicken that normally cost N1,500 for N300,000 because it was made by one of the best chef in the world? If Yes, would you consider that as wise? If No, then getting a phone for N600k isn't so wise whereas you can get one at a lesser amount and it bears the same brand and same features, except a camera adjustment. |
mrphysics:This is good!! Bon courage! |
Lexusgs430:On a phone of N600,000? Yes, those that do are making a foolish decision. Forget value and affordability for the moment. |
mrphysics:The bolded is common but you should not because of that fail to identify yourself as a Nigerian to any and all that ask. There are lots of Nigerians in France doing great things in every sector of their economy and as one of them, be a shining light to our fellow West African brothers. (No be everybody wey black for France follow water enter Europe - Let them know that) I belong to a group of Nigerian professionals and students in France called FON (Friends of Nigeria) and everyone of us are doing great things. Some of them recently concluded a conference: SPOTLIGHT NIGERIA (Link to the event) here in Paris and lots of dignitaries attended. My point is: Be a shining light! You are a Nigerian, don't fail to identify as one! |
omotolanibaby:The visa of all the 26 countries in the schengen zone allows you to visit other countries in the zone but you need to apply to a country to get a so-called "schengen visa" If you have a French Visa and want to visit Netherlands first, that is not advised. Visit France , get your passport stamped then move to Netherlands. You might be allowed to enter or you might not be allowed to enter... but why take the risk? Cc: Cashmanbreeze |
Cashmanbreeze:Do you have a French visa or a Netherlands visa? |
hammed71:We have discussed this before. The French system is like the UK and most European countries, you need to have a work sponsorship if you want to come to France solely for work. Apply to French companies and if your skill sets are needed alongside your language skills, they will initiate the process. |
abdolleez:It is always good to have more than enough in your account, but if you are short of funds, ensure you have the required amount for expenses for a year (in Paris - €750 * 12 = €9,000 = about N3.7million) and if you had not paid your school fees, ensure you have your school fees for your 1st year too, in the same account. Bon courage!! |
Congratulations MidEastPrince and Welcome to Deutschland, I hope you continue the thread with the same energy though. It gets exciting within the first few months, but reality sets in afterwards. Looking forward to updates! |
Niwalker:Did your brother provide a valid onward/return flight ticket and proof of accommodation when applying? If No, then why are you surprised? Those are key requirements. If Yes, then you need to ask further questions and call if possible. Also was it a mail or SMS? |

Just saying, mate.
You have stayed in the abroad too long sha. That is all i will say to you.
