oduastates: In my opinion ,that logic is twisted .
In order words ,we should all be singing kunbaya .
Next time you meet a foreigner(even better when it is abroad),press them about their Nigerian experience.if you press them enough ,they will tell you about Nigeria and Nigerians. Most of what they will tell you are things, even Nigerians themselves, are too blind to see.An expatriate wrote about his Nigerian experience last year.it was posted on nairaland .he made many observations which most Nigerians hardly notice.he mentioned the fact that unions in Nigeria are basically criminal gangs who care not about the society they were suppose to serve.A gang master is at the head of the socalled union ,he collects dues and is unanswerable to no one on how he spend union money or conducts union activities.Dues are forcefully collected whether you want to associate or not.
He mentioned the fact that NUPENG members are paid too much when compared to the work they do.most especially when international standards are used.
Please show me the thread you are talking about.

ogaju007: Good stuff bro, let the truth be told.... Even to me, Nigeria is almost a no go if not for the ties and hmmm the lovely ladies.... A young man has been blocking nierians to come work in nigeria as expatriates claiming they are not suited for the job thereby getting low level Indians and South Africans on the project *lol( here is an account of what they will say about Nigeria). I read this blog and was utterly left speechless. A British expat has come to work in Nigeria and this are his accounts of Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: The BAD IMAGE Of Nigeria Is Caused By The Way Nigerians Present Nigeria by davidif:
Chei! Nigerians and their pride sha! they would rather die in poverty than admit they have problems and need help. Talk about an over inflated sense of self importance. It's like someone who is dying yet still trying to save face and pull a front for other people to see.
So we should now censor the media so as to look good to 'the rest of the world'. How shallow and vain.
Aren't the problems that are in the media
The problems that are going in our nation? So we should not report them because you are worried about how other people think? A free and effective press is necessary for a healthy democracy.
This is the kind of article you would expect from the minister of information of a police state like North Korea. What a horrible article.

Actually Jaap Stam was one of the best players man Utd ever had. SAF sold him after they both had a falling out.
As for Gabriel Heinze, he did very well at Man utd until he lost his starting spot to Patrice Evra and he decided to move to Real Madrid but he was a fantastic defender at Mn Utd.
Paul Pogba on the other hand simply didn't want to wait his turn at Man utd and he decided not to renew his contract. SAF was so upset by his departure.
Quinton Fortune had a decent career at Man U and spent close to 8 years there.
Marc Vivian foe never played for man Utd, it was Man city he played for.
The remaining players on your list were either not good enough or simply flopped.

735i: The same mistakes we made in the '60's we are making again now.
Why on earth should Chevron Nig Limited have 70% stake and NNPC just 15%?
Who is signing off these contracts?
I am guessing that based on your comments that you don't have a fundamental knowledge of how businesses operate. There is something called risk and reward. what that means is that If you are going to bear the risk of something then the reward have to be able to compensate for it.

For example, exploration and production could be considered risks because you could explore and not find anything thereby losing all your money. So you do a risk reward analysis to find out if the potential reward you could get from that oil field is going to be big enough to offset your cost and be enough for you to make a lot of money. In other words, are the benefits or profits going to be worth it.

NNPC (the company that claims to represent Nigerians) doesn't really bear any risk that I know of they just show up when you find oil or any natural resources and demand a share. Yet this same companies still have to pay taxes on the money they make (or so i think). What a horrible practice.
At times I feel bad for foreign investors who come to do business in Nigeria because of what they have to go through. I mean the cost of doing business is so bad then you have all the other unnecessary wahala that you have to go through. Chei!!! No wonder a lot of investors find it really risky to invest in Nigeria and even Africa as a whole.

I am not saying that you shouldn't bath, i am just saying that one should use it after showering.

bobkezel: From my travelling experience I think each race/tribe has and is used to their perculiar smell. But improper hygiene makes the smell to be awful/stinking. If u want to know the meaning of stinking, go close to an oyibo. Most of them can stay weeks without bathing. They only wash their hairs, brush their teeth and then wear perfume, finish. But because they are used to their stinking smell, they don't perceive it. Africans de bath joor.
It is not about bathing bro, it is about using deodorant.

One thing I know white smells like wet dogs

Indians curry/food

BA of all people shouldn't even open their mouths lipsrsealed, they are just throwing back @ us the same stereotypes their massa use against them
You are wrong. We need to use deodorant. The poster of this topic is right. I had a friend who didn't use deodorant and i tried to ask him about it and he said he didn't need because he didn't smell. Meanwhile, his oyinbo roomate thought otherwise.

FamilyRe: Please Help A Confused Brother. by davidif: 5:14pm On Aug 27, 2014
whyalwaysme: Dear Nairalanders,
I write this with a very heavy heart because there's not very much that is interesting to me anymore.
I am a professional in the real estate business and I am married with 2 very healthy young children.
I have worked for about 7years before I decided to work for myself. Armed with my experience, determination and a strong belief in God I went to work.but alas it has been disappointments all the way.
Right from the very start I was cheated of over N2million in one of my 1st transactions and the money was meant to be a huge support for my business and fall back for my family.
I devised a very good business plan before I branched out on my own but I have this nagging issue of disappointments.
I set up a transaction and everything goes smoothly until when it is about to conclude everything falls apart. This has happened several times and my wife who works in a financial institutions and has been very supporting kept telling me to relax that all will be well.
Friends, at times it gets so rough that we cant even eat and she will have to borrow or go to her sister's house to get foodstuff.
I pay my tithes and I pray and fast but the disappointments keep coming.
Recently my wife brought a transaction to me which would assisted in paying off some debts. I got a property which they inspected and and loved. They wanted to pay but my colleague who represents the onwer delayed getting the title documents until he had to travel out of the country for a week.
Just yesterday he told me that before he got back the owner had sold the property. I still tried to get an alternative but every other thing was way above budget.
I was so sad because it was a sure banker deal but it crashed just like many others sure bankers before it.
When I got home there was no food to eat in the house.my rent is overdue and my kids do not go to school anymore because i cant pay their fees anymore.
I called my wife to talk to her because she was demoralized that there was nothing in the house and before I could start to say a word my own pillar of support told me that I should look for something else to do that my business is not working. That it is like a basket that im pouring water into. I was so sad because she wasn't far from the truth. She was tired of stories.
Now I am almost convinced that there is a very strong force blocking my success. My parents are loners . Never keeping much company and retired from civil service and I cannot imagine who can be after my success.
I have cried to God so many times to pity me and at least for my kids sake open doors for me but each time I get disappointments.
Now I begin to ask. Have I been wasting my time? I love my profession I studied it in school and I have seen people become very successful and I believed that I can be too.but the disappointments are just too much. What joy does a man have when you put in honest labour and yet cannot provide for your family?
I have been tempted to sell my soul to the devil just to make my family comfortable but faith that God will turn things around kept me. Now I ask having been praying to my imagination? My own wife has lost confidence in my ability to provide.
I have asked God so many times but I have not even seen a sign. This has affected me that I have started indulging in habits which are not healthy and depression is setting in.
Why is God not answering? If I have a child and I do not provide for the child despite several pleas and the child steals to survive do I have any moral right to castigate him or her?
It is said no one knows tomorrow, how do I now know that tomorrow will be better? What happens if 5years from now im still chasing my tail?
I put in a lot of diligence and professionalism in my work but I feel there is strong outside influence derailing my success.
Please if there is any advice other than to pray please let me have it
Do not ask me to pray because I have prayed and I have been prayed for but I am faced with something bigger which i cannot see.
I need to know what I am up against because you cannot fight an enemy you dont know.
Please help.
Thanks
Bro, the advice i can give you is to watch this.

BusinessRe: Foreigners Doing Business In Nigeria. Our Failures Dreadful Struggles & Success. by davidif: 5:01pm On Aug 27, 2014
jdilight: No that is not how it look.

Let me explain it. If we produce palm oil at 50 naira per liter in Nigeria we will likely sell at 70 naira making a profit of 5 naira as producers. Now someone in Malesya produces at 30 naira per liter sell to Nigerian importers at 50 naira, the importer comes to Nigeria sell at 65 naira. The Nigerian producer will have to reduce price which will wipe his profit away. So he closes down throws all his workers out. But govt. say no, importer pays a tax of 14 naira per liter imported. Importation becomes unattractive so the importers turns to manufacturer and employ Nigerians. This is how GDP grows not that the poor man in the street will be able to buy a car.
Your reasoning is too simplistic. It is what happens in the ideal world. Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world and that's why policies made by govts don't always work according to plan. History is filled with many stories like this.
Despite the import duties you put on palm oil, Nigeria is still heavily importing palm oil because local supply is not able to match their demand. That's why i asked you if you knew about the law of uninteneded consequences.
Policy makers might have good intentions when they make this laws but the real world consequences are usually different. This is what a lot of economists are taught.

Then, you need to know how far she has gone with the posting the guy is helping her with. She probably may be going thru some stress and so much call at that moment can be annoying.

If all attempt to get her attention is futile, then you can tell her'she has changed'. But that shouldn't be your first point.

BusinessRe: Foreigners Doing Business In Nigeria. Our Failures Dreadful Struggles & Success. by davidif: 2:26pm On Aug 26, 2014
MissMeiya: They did the same thing to palm oil. Nigerian palm oil is SOOO uncompetitive on the global market. It only barely survives locally because of the tax on imported palm oil. Even still, manufacturers have to import the high-quality palm oil from Asia, because there isn't enough of it in Nigeria.
Wow!!!! who are this policy makers in Naija in the first place? Did they even go to school at all? No wonder a lot of things don't work in the country.
