adavis84:What is with the Nigerian factor that every time one doesn't agree with something, it must end up in insults, geez. Can't you see that we are having a decent conversation here? |
bawomolo:Do i seem to care?? Football is king while basketball is incredibly annoying. Watching skinny guys running with shoes making squeaking sounds is boring. Besides you don't get to hit people in basketball. |
WOWWWWWWWWW!!!! I am amazed that we have shuaibu amodu's agents here on nairaland. I don't even know where to start with your arguements. Is it the fact that you neglect the entire body of work of this coaches and select a couple of bad games they had (the lichentenstein and roma example)? or that you are soooooo blindly biased towards shuaibu amodu that one can basically smell it from here. Geez, hasn't Alex Ferguson lost to burnley before or hasn't wenger lost 6-1 before? Does this make them terrible coaches? Oh well, from experience, i am not going to waste time arguing with you guys as i have a huge project to complete, i would just let the facts prove themselves during the ACN or the world cup. I would be back here when Nigeria crashes in the quarterfinals of the ACN to remind you guys about what you said and boy oh boy would it be funny. |
buckeye:Belichick's decision was bad but Les Miles own was INCREDIBLY STUPID AND DUMB. This was a basic mistake that no coach should have ever made. Belichick wouldn't even committ a blunder like that. |
Sagamite:The man is not tactically astute at allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. If you watch Nigeria's games, you would see the incredible amount of space we live in our defense. Also, do you want to compare Amodu to Frank Rijkaard who took his country to the semi finals of Euro 2000 or who made Barca world conquerors. What of Spalletti who is widely regarded as one of the most innovative coaches in football. Gerrard Houllier is one of liverpools most successful coaches EVER. He was responsible for the resurgence of Liverpool. Juande Ramos won 2 UEFA Cups, Roberto Mancini won 2 scudettos and Luis Felipe Scolari won a world cup and make Portugal a powerhouse. NOW WHAT HAS YOUR AMODU EVER DONE BESIDES BEING LUCKY IN TAKING NIGERIA TO THE WORLD CUP ![]() |
reindeer you are right. the movie industry reflects the Nigerian society and until Nigeria becomes a developed and sophisticated Nation, we would continue to have mediocre and overwhelmingly simplistic movies. How many Nigerians can appreciate a masterpiece like "The Usual Suspects" or "There will be blood" ( a lot of Americans don't appreciate this one too ). |
buckeye:Yes, but i don't think that his coaching reputation would ever recover from that one. Michigan was actually thinking of hiring him if Rich rod couldn't get the job done. |
davidif:I am ekiti, i am just fond of calling them jebusites ![]() |
CAN SOMEBODY PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE TEACH ME EKITI? I ONLY KNOW HOW TO SPEAK BASIC YORUBA. |
I would say she is pretty accurate to a certain extent. |
Where are the Jebusites? |
My sister, i have been saying this for a while now but the females keep attacking me.I think the problem with us is ignorance. We never had a black power movement in Africa so our people have not yet been awakened. I believe that every Nigerian should watch a movie like "Malcolm X" so as to be enlightened. A prime example of our people's ignorance is this https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-343716.0.html I believe that every black woman should watch this movie, its very enlightening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m-4qxz08So&feature=related africhika:My sister, you are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo on point its not even funny, its like you are reading my mind. I agree with everything you said ESPECIALLY the highlighted part. That unless Africa becomes a developed continent, only then would Africans be desperately to learn there native language, only then would they stop bleaching or speaking with fake american accents, only then would they see themselves as beautiful. When Africa becomes developed and our fashion industry and fashion magazine can be competing with the western ones then, maybe (and i mean MAYBE) would this trends change. |
jamie foxx once made fun of us in one of his comedy shows about his first visit to Africa and he was talking about the "African Smell". |
poster and kb1 If you want to find out your roots, i think they have DNA test for African Americans in the USA to discover there roots. I saw an amazing show on PBS a couple of years ago about it and it was incredible. |
I guess she wants to do something else. |
Some movies are better left untouched like Terminator. The first 2 were excellent while the third wasn't anything to write home about. I have not seen the fourth one so i can't comment on it. I also heard that they were remaking the 1979 science fiction classic "Alien" which is annoying to a lot of fans of the original. |
sagamite, iwo ati tani lo ma lo BYU?? Do you know that utah is in the middle of nowhere and that the girls are just as good looking as british girls ![]() Abeg o, no be me and you dey go Brigham Young, its not as if its in salt lake city itself, instead its in some town like Provo, that's enough to scare me away. Once i leave the midwest, i am going to the east coast or west coast. The only place in the midwest i can stay is probably Chicago but that's about it. As boring as the state i am in is, i can't even begin to fathom going to a UTAH OF ALL PLACES Now having said all that, Utah is a probably a great place for married people and its also a great place to raise a family. Also, another factor i can't imagine going to BYU is that it is a private school and private schools are usually very expensive. Some of the best universities in America are VERY CHEAP like UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, and the University of Virginia. There MBA programs (especially that of berkeley and Virginia) easily stack up well with Wharton's, the Northwestern's and the Stanfords. In fact in some rankings UVA is supposed to be the second best MBA program in the country. |
This Jennings boy showing some real consistencey I'll also like to shout out the rockets. They've totally moved on without their always injured stars, They losses are usually tight n they grnd out wins as a team other nights. I wonder wat happens wen tmac n Yao comes back. I also wonder whether the hip peeps in Atlanta have started going gaga abt their team, they gat some serious depth at least this season and their stars have matured
Yeah, its amazing that Atlanta has now matured. |
I was watching TV the other day and i saw how the cast of "Twillight" the movie were being mobbed and worshipped in different countries across the globe and i was hoping that one day when Nigeria becomes a developed country that we don't start worshipping foreign icons but our own superstar actors instead. The thought that one day my kids would be crying because they are in the presence of some hollywood actor appalls me. So i decided to ask the question how can we as Nigerians force nollywood to get better? do we boycott the movies or do we buy more movies so that they can have more money to be able to make bigger and quality pictures? I believe that the main thing affecting Nollywood movies besides bad scripts is lack of editing. There are so many unncessary scenes in some movies that have nothing to do with the main theme of the movie. For example you could watch a scene where a woman is sweeping the floor and singing at the same time for 5 WHOLE MINUTES (imagine that? ).I also believe that one of the best ways for nollywood to get better is if they have movie society like an academy (or association) of nigerian movie directors or a screen actors guild [association]. This would make directors and actors sit down and discuss how to make the industry better. The govt could also step in by dangling a carrot (in this case; cash) in front of them and tell them that whoever writes or makes a movie of certain cinematic standards created by a pool of renowned foreign critics (sorry, i just can't think of any acclaimed Nigerian movie critic right now) would be awarded lucrative grants by the govt., i believe that this would make our the industry more competitive and it would increase the quality of movies coming from Nollywood. |
AMODU MUST GO!!!! I mean Ruud Gullit is still looking for a coaching position along with Luciano Spalletti, Juande Ramos, Gerrard Houllier, Roberto Mancini and the likes of Frank Rijkaard and Felipe Scolari who are itching for big time football. |
WHAT HAPPENED TO LSU? THAT LOSS WAS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF TERRIBLE TIME MANAGEMENT. WHAT WAS LES MILES THINKING SELF? |
I didn't watch the game but saw the scoreline and it was remarkable. But oh well, its one of those rare occurences in football like Man. U beating Roma (an italian team for that matter) 6-1 a couple of years ago. |
The guy was probably supporting everybody in his family. Africans always feel that they have to take care of there entire extended family. |
poster Thanks for informing us abeg. |
dominique:WHY but its true. |
First of all, olufela ransome kuti is not God (what insane blasphemy ), he is just a mere mortal who would stand in front of GOD on the day of judgement. Of course Fela was blessed with incredible musical talent which a lot of this so called pop artistes nowadays don't have. Simply put the man was a legend, but please people shouldn't get carried away and call him God. I can understand your passion for Fela and that you were just trying to immitate the way oyinbos praise there icons (i've seen many comments where people equate legends to God) but if these people truly knew that everyone would give account for every word he or she utters, they would definitely not say those things. FELA = LEGEND. By the way, where are those people like mama gee or muffins who are too 'advanced' to appreciate Nigerian music and disparage it as 'local' or 'raz'? |
Crocked Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie is set to have horse placenta massaged into his damaged ankle by a Serbian housewife in a bid to speed up his recovery from a ligament injury, but he is not the only footballer to turn to an alternative remedy. Here we look at some of the more weird treatments. GOATS' BLOOD GettyImages Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann: One of Dr Muller-Wolfhart's former patients St Johnstone striker Peter MacDonald approached Bayern Munich's club medic Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt for a little help in recovering from a troublesome hamstring injury and was prescribed a course of goats' blood injections. "The specialist said my hamstring was too tight and I had goats' blood injections. That's the best for loosening it off," a grateful MacDonald explained. As well as injecting animal blood Muller-Wolfhart, who is also the doctor for the German national team, claims that an extract from the crest of cockerels, called Hylart, can help lubricate knee injuries and take away the pain. He counts Michael Owen, Jurgen Klinsmann and Arjen Robben amongst his former patients. VIAGRA When Bolivian football team Blooming struggled to perform at altitude when playing away in La Paz the club's physiotherapist Rodrigo Figueroa prescribed Viagra to cure their ills. The physio reasoned that as the sex drug is designed to improve blood flow it could also help players cope with the difficulties of playing at more than 3,500m above sea level. "We prescribed it for several players, especially those who suffered most from altitude," Figueroa explained. Viagra is not on the banned substance list and has reportedly been game tested by a number of South American clubs during Copa Libertadores matches at high altitude. THE TOOTH Following a season-and-a-half of teething problems in English football £13.5 million Chelsea winger Florent Malouda finally hit form at the start of the 2009-10 season and later revealed that a trip to the dentist had cured him of his malaise. The Frenchman finally got to the root of his troubles when he had his wisdom teeth removed, which helped to clear up some lingering niggles and muscle problems. Since Malouda's wonder cure a number of other footballers have gone under the dentist's knife, including placenta loving Van Persie. "My osteopaths think there may be a connection between my teeth and the muscle injuries I suffer," the Dutchman said. BABY REPAIR KIT According to a report in the Sunday Times a number of Premier League footballers have taken the highly unusual step of storing stem cells from their newborn babies to use in case they suffer career-threatening injuries. The process involves freezing cells taken from the umbilical cord blood of their babies and can be used to treat - and even possibly cure - cartilage and ligament problems. An anonymous player explained: "We decided to store our new baby's stem cells for possible future therapeutic reasons, as a footballer, if you're prone to injury it can mean the end of your career, so having your stem cells - a repair kit if you like - on hand makes sense." VOODOO v SHAMANISM When a voodoo priest named Pepe revealed in the Spanish press that had been hired to use his black-magic to injure £80 million Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, who was subsequently sidelined with ankle knack, a number of magicians stepped forward to cure the winger. A Portuguese wizard, named Fernando Nogueira, took first crack at healing his countryman but the winger remained sidelined despite Nogueira's sorcery and Pepe responded by increasing the strength of his spell. A band of Peruvian shamans were next to try and lift the injury curse and gathered outside the Spanish Embassy in Lima to perform a cleansing ritual, involving a bizarre combination of swords and maracas, but Ronaldo remained sidelined. FAITH HEALING Former England player and manager Glenn Hoddle maintained an unshakeable belief in faith healing after Eileen Drewery nursed him through injury while he was a young player at Tottenham Hotspur. Hoddle hired the housewife as a consultant during the 1998 World Cup to cure the players of a range of physical and psychological ailments, but unfortunately the squad did not share his belief and his authority was undermined. Hoddles devotion to spiritualism, love and forgiveness may have kept him free from injury but it didn't keep him in a job; he was sacked in 1999. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=699571&sec=global&root=global&cc=5901 |
Rapmoney:he he he he he. It means that if she was not serious or dilligent in something as important and crucial as her academics, then why would she be dilligent about her marriage. Heck, the bible even says that if one has not been dilligent in little things, then why would the person be dilligent in more serious things. |
C2H5OH:I thought this kid was going to be a flop, now he looks like the next coming of MJ (this is what MJ did in his very first games in the NBA). Unfortunately, his success might now encourage more kids to go play professionally in Europe instead of going to college. |
C2H5OH:ooooooooooooh, that was nasty. |
