TV/MoviesRe: Daniel Craig Is An Insult To The James Bond Persona by davidif: 12:57am On Aug 27, 2009
Roger has brown hair. He wore it natural in some Bond outings, eg, Live and Let Die, and lightened it several shades in others, like Octopussy. He's not blonde. I saw reruns of reruns of reruns of The Persuaders as a kid, his drama serial with Tony Curtis, where he plays a genteel British Lord. Not very different from how he played Bond. His real hair's dark brown. Craig, bless the cold blue steel of his eyes, is the first blond Bond.
Goodness me!!! Just go online to google and check images of blonde hair (blonde not blond).

FamilyRe: I Had A Fight With My Husband by davidif: 12:39am On Aug 27, 2009
The bible says that a soft answer calms an angry man. A lot of women need to learn this. When a man is not in a good mood, especially if he is very angry, don't say things that would make him lose his temper. I am sure the woman was yelling at her husband and being sassy with him. The bible does not approve of a contentious woman. Women should have the wisdom to study there husband's moods and know when he is in a happy one and when he is a joyous one, but a lot of woman don't care, they are just very, very contentious.

I am a woman like you, married for 4 years now. I presume you are a stubborn woman like me so I will put myself in your shoes.
The very first mistake you made in this matter was to have called him back when he made his way out. Men usually do this when they want to avoid beating their wives and you should have left him to go away and cool down. That would have saved the day.

Your second mistake is that you have accepted beating as part of your marriage. Otherwise, the very first time it happened should have been the last if you handled it very well. Once upon a time, in the heat of a quarrel, I dared my husband and he hit me just slightly. The first thing I did was to call his role models - his sister and his uncle and told them every thing. My husband couldnt believe I could go that far for a 'little' hit, he felt ashamed and sober. Its been almost a year now and I keep reminding him each time he asks me why I am less romantic these days.
Thank goodness, i no wan marry naija woman. I HATE STUBBORN PEOPLE.
The bible says in 1 Corinthians 13 that love keeps no record of wrongs.

PoliticsRe: The CBN Planned Road Show by davidif: 2:30am On Aug 26, 2009
Ultimately at a time when there is almost a civil war in our Financial Sector, to go on a road show abroad is to further publicize our local upheavels and like the sacking of 5 MDs in a day, Sanusi will regret this road show if he embarks on it.
THE MD'S HAD TO GO, THEY WERE COOKING THE BOOKS. That's what got Madoff 150 years behind bars, geez.

That tells me foreign investors come when you are already successful, they are investors not gamblers . . . . . I think we should spend more time on what we can achieve locally.
Investing is gambling. When you invest you are taking a risk that you might not get your money back because two things can happen, you can either lose money or make a profit.

which kind blind sturborness be this ?

Our Banking system need no restructuring for now, it just need better regulation.
Yes, they do need restructuring, they almost collapsed and the govt had to artifically prop them up. Goodness me, kilo n seyin na?

we have two sets of numbers

one belongs to the banks

the other belongs to CBN

In the light of the activities of the last few weeks, there is no reason to believe figures from CBN over anyone else's.
Hellooooooo!!!!! They can't even get list of debtors right.
The banks had no strong internal controls and they had the motive to doctor there balance sheet's. The CBN on the other hand does not have any motive to lie against them, if not they would have been sued by the chairmen and shareholders by now. Sanusi had known that these guys had been practicing this things for a long time, that is why he intervened.
PoliticsRe: Irs Airlines 3.3 Billion Loan.what what Do You Think The Company is worth? by davidif: 2:27am On Aug 26, 2009
Why people invest in the airline industry is way beyund me? Its a terrible industry to be involved in, it has high fixed costs which results mainly from buying new planes and maintaining them. There is not really a lot of room to manouevre or turn a profit. In America, sooooooooooooo many airlines have failed and 9/11 made things worse. Only southwest airlines/ jet blue makes a profit, the rest are almost always in the red.

I'd really appreciate it if you, seriously, piss off. Who cares if non-Nigerians don't care? Why should they? The point is, I care. Quit trying to gag me and face your own identity crisis issues.
I don't have an identity crisis issue at all, infact i am very very very confident about myself. I am not insecure like most people are who get worked up over just another FICTIONAL movie. I don't get worked up over some hollywood movie because at the end of the day, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Its just a good old sci-fi (read again: SCIENCE FICTION) flick.

By the way, why can't we learn to make fun of each other for once instead of taking ourselves waaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously. Just look in the mirror and ask yourself, why am i getting so worked up over FICTION. It is what it is, absolute fiction. Even if they didn't make fun of Nigerians, it still wouldn't matter as it would not change anything and like i said earlier, NOBODY CARES.
TV/MoviesRe: Daniel Craig Is An Insult To The James Bond Persona by davidif: 2:03am On Aug 26, 2009
Roger Moore, that silly, simpering, sickening, incompetent ashawo Bond, wasn't a blonde; his hair's brown. Craig's the first Blonde. People protested at this and more, but after Casino Royale they've eaten their words.
You obviously don't know what blonde is. Blonde hair is not always like Scarlett Johanson's hair or Marilyn Monroe's, it has different shades. Trust me, i know grin

I dig you. yes that's a big problem in nigeria. it serves some entertainment value though and do enjoy all the yabbing and jokes. And the oil problem, I noticed it too. i am happy people with correct heads are increasing in nigeria. Emeagwali is a small fry though very small fry, and nothing to be proud of.
By the way are you schooling the US now? Also would you be interesting in attending the africa business conference at harvard or upenn---they cost a money, but i plan to attend one of them this year.
You are right, the man is such a very very small fry but we blow his achievements out of proportion because pretty much he is the only thing we have.

Good ambitions, but take it from someone with similar bulge bracket background it is not the be all and end all. Your dream should be to set-up your own stuff. Working at GS might make you money but for most it does not bring happiness as it is cut-throat and back-stabbing.

Less than 30% of those that go to top MBAs would end up in GS and its like, less than 10% of these would excel in the way you hear in the sensational stories or profiles you read. So you are playing a high risk with your $100K, although it gives you an advantage but in the industry now the power of MBA is waning.

But as I said, it is a good ambition but a better one is to find a product or service people need and use your money to develop it and sell it to people. You get all the rewards and you are your own boss, no need for anybody to give aggressive appraisals despite your MBA. And you can keep a relationship with friends and family.

$100K investment, if spent right, can provide you with a business that turnsover $2m within 3 years, and the profit on that (and capital gains) would exceed virtually all jobs.

The whole alumni network thing is usually just a business school sales pitch to get their hands on your $100K.
Yes, you do have a point man, the reason why i said it would be beneficial if we went to these schools is that it would help most of us to wanna be successful enterpreneurs. An MBA teaches you how to run a business well, so that you don't make normal mistakes that new business make. It teaches you key things like corporate strategy, negotiations, and key issues that affect the business world nowadays like how to maintain quality control during expansion, where and how to find talent and several other problems in business. The value of an MBA is very valuable because a lot of the people who go on to this programs become very successful enterpreneurs. Just look at the slides that i showed yu about successful immigrants, some of this people went to some of the best schools in the world.

Another thing is that getting a top notch MBA probably in a place like MIT, Stanford or Berkeley which have top research institutions would introduce you to future Sergey Brin's (founder of google) who are looking to start there own companies: it would introduce to the world of venture capital creating more opportunities for you to start your own business.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Violence And Large Scale Rioting In English Football by davidif(op): 1:27am On Aug 26, 2009
West Ham vs. Millwall is definitely the most heated rivalry in English football, much bigger than any of the rivalries between the big 4 and even bigger than Arsenal vs. Tottenham (its probably the biggest rivalry in Europe, but it is underpublicized because they are both small clubs). These guys have only played each other 24 times in the last 100 years so when they get an opportunity to play each other, it produces fireworks.

PoliticsRe: The CBN Planned Road Show by davidif: 8:25pm On Aug 25, 2009
Wont we be spending this money more judiciously by encouraging local small businesses to grow? tackling the energy crisis?
Is it not the case that so long as our economy is all about buying and selling of oil, our economy and by extension our banks will always be vulnerable?

Whats the obsession with 'Foreign Investors'  who consider our country high risk destination for investment and who possibly have more reasons to believe so in the light of the CBN activities in the last one month?
Its not called the free market for no reason. This is what we call the global movement of capital. Sanusi knows the precarious states of the banks, he knows that there finances have been shaky because these guys have been posting false numbers on there balance sheets. That is why he is hoping for a bank takeover from abroad. Nigerian accountants sha, they remind me of Enron's accountants:

"Say you have a dog, but you need to create a duck on the financial statements. Fortunately there are specific accounting rules for what constitutes a duck: yellow feet, white covering, orange beak. So you take the dog and paint its feet yellow and its fur white and you paste an orange plastic beak on its nose, and then you say to your accountants, `This is a duck! Don't you agree that it's a duck?' And the accountants say, `Yes, according to the rules, this is a duck.' Everybody knows that it's a dog, not a duck, but that doesn't matter, because you've met the rules for calling it a duck."   - A former employee of Enron

Secondly, its not the CBN's job to tackle the energy crisis, its the job of the minister of energy and petroleum and the minister of finance.
Sanusi has spoken about trying to make banks give out more long term loans which is key for the growth of small businesses but guess what? like i said earlier the bank's fundamentals have been very very shaky so they can't afford to loan. Like we have seen, Nigeria's heavy hitters in finance and politics can't even afford to repay there loans talkless of small businesses, some of whom even lack collateral. Also, investing in small businesses is a medium term goal not an immediate or short term thing like an urgent critical infusion of cash into the banking system.

Also as someone who attends a target school for Goldman sachs/ Jp morgan all that glitters is not gold. You would just sit down in a small office being part of the machinery and later becoming frustarted because of the limited opportunities for upward mobility as well as the greed.
Man i have been to wall street before, you don't just sit down in a small office. The offices are huge with a lot of people who have assigned to them computers with 4 or more different monitors where they sell CDO's, CPDO's, CDS and other securities. It is a great interactive workplace where people always mingle with each others, its not some isolated office experience.

PoliticsRe: Fashola To Run For Governorship Of 6+ States In Next Election. by davidif: 8:00pm On Aug 25, 2009
Who is the good leader in SW? Fashola? It takes more than Lagos gov to rule Nigeria. Moreover he has broken the constitution at least twice
1: deporting fellow Nigerians
2. creating LGA against the letters of the constitution.
I doubt if Fashola is performing better than Obi or even Ohakim. It is a matter of press coverage and the fact that Lagos is already much more developed (being the former federal capital) way before Fashola got in, so it takes just a little effort to get things going. Fashola cannot perform elsewhere, for instance in rustic states like Osun or Ekiti.
Let's see who will vote for him except Yoruba; and of course we know Yoruba votes are only for Yorubas (masters of political tribalism). They voted for their man in 1999 (Falae) and he failed woefully just like Awo; history will soon repeat itself. Yoruba vote for Yoruba is politically meaningless
Normally, i don't reply to this guy's incendiary posts but this one is something else.
First off all, Lagos was in a terrible state of disarray when Fashola came in and so far he has done an excellent job http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/3d3209aa-8225-11de-9c5e-00144feabdc0.html   States like Osun or Ekiti are even a lot more governable than Lagos so i don't know what you are talking about. The problem with you is that you are not objective in your analysis but very biased and its because you are sooooooooo much filled with hate that it has so much eaten into your soul that your heart has been totally blackened. You better not let it totally consume you. I guess its because life has so much frustrated you that you feel that you have to unleash your hate at everybody else. So sad, i feel so sorry for you.

Love your neighbor as thyself  -  Jesus Christ.
