Foreign AffairsRe: Obama Crushes Clinton and Edwards in Iowa by davidif: 7:28am On Jan 04, 2008
Yeah i just saw it on the news and i am happy. I would love to see either Hillary or Obama win the primaries, but truth is i am not american and even if i was, i couldn't vote for a party that supports abortion.  Roe v. Wade must be overturned.

On a side note, this is the only time that the spot light is ever on Iowa grin grin grin (once every 4 years ha ha ha), i would never ever EVER want to live in a state like that, the only thing good about Iowa is driving through it. It is so rural, quiet, boring and the only thing they have over there is corn (yes, agbado and plenty of it  grin  grin )

TV/MoviesRe: What Kind Of Movie Do You Want Nigerians To Make? by davidif: 10:29pm On Jan 03, 2008
Like i said earlier there is so much to content to write or focus on  in our movies that we don't even need special effects, the drama and eccentricities in Naija daily live is enough to make an international hit, so why do we focus on unnecessary content.

SportsRe: Give Grant A Chance by davidif: 9:19pm On Jan 03, 2008
I wanna agree with you, but truth of the matter is that Jose was a winner and he did whatever it took to win. Did you see the boxing day match against aston villa? There is no way i reapeat no way that chelsea concedes 4 goals in a match even if its at Real Madrid talkless of Aston Villa at the bridge. Speaking of the Aston Villa match, if only shevchenko had being willing to make the extra pass to a wide open Kalou during the closing stages of the game instead of trying to score maybe chelsea would have won that game 5-4.
SportsNFL Playoffs are Here. by davidif(op): 9:14pm On Jan 03, 2008
The NFL playoffs are here (in the immortal words of Jim Mora playoffs? playoffs?? grin grin ), in fact, the wild cards start on saturday, who is your pick to get to the superbowl or win it all?

On a side note, the sooners lost to WVU in the fiesta bowl last night, i couldn't believe it. That shows that WVU is legit and even though they play in the big east, they can match up with anybody in any conference (did you see them beat Georgia, the sec champions in the sugar bowl 2 years ago, amazing).

Obong, he get something wey oyinbo dey do and wey dudu (yoruba for black) dey do. Here for yanki, there are some things black folks do and don't do like surfing, skating, skiing, ice hockey, polo, cliff climbing, sky diving and the whole lot. That's why when you hear on the news that somebody got eaten by a shark or died in an avalanche on the Colorado rockies what comes into your mind is "WHITE FOLKS!!!" he he he grin grin grin . I am not trying to be racist but i am just saying that there is too many things that black people die from everyday and we are definitely not about to add drowning in the atlantic to one of them ha ha ha. grin

@don1demaco
Even though i am an avid soccer fan, i actually have a life and i have much better things to do like taking care of business, not going round scouring over old tapes of previous world cups watching people who don't know i exist. Also, i watch other sports like basketball or the NFL during my free time so soccer is not my only sport. By the way, i have my own religion and its called Christianity and football can't even compare to that.
PoliticsRe: Donald Duke: A Fraud Or Visionary? (Tinapa) by davidif: 8:52pm On Jan 03, 2008
Instead of spending that money to update our eduational system especially UNICAL to world class standards, free education, developing the rural areas with agriculture and the industrialization of the state, he went and built a tourist resort. Calabar is close to the ocean, at least they should be on there way to establishing a ship manufacturing industry or some  big time high-tech industry with that money. No wonder he recused himself from running for presidency because there was so much dirt on him.

TV/MoviesRe: What Kind Of Movie Do You Want Nigerians To Make? by davidif: 8:38pm On Jan 03, 2008
I would love to see big budget epic nigerian movie like gladiator, spartacus or apocalypto but focusing on ancient naija heroes like Queen Amina of Zaria, Usman Dan Fodio, or even King Jaja of Opobo who fought the british. I would also love to see an epic movie like the Jihad of the 1800's. My oyinbo friend who went to Uganda said the place is flooded with naija movies and that our movies are absolutely awful. Its about time we saw a big screen adaptation of "The Passport of Mallam Illiya" which was an amazing book and a TV series like the Eze adventures (Eze goes to school and the other books).

There is so much content to make movies on in naija but our producers and screenwriters have absolutely no creativity and no inspiration, they always want to make things they don't see like life in America. Someone once told me that if you want to watch a movie, just take your camera to your balcony in naija and watch the drama and the craziness that enfolds in our daily lives, those who have lived in Lagos (Oshodi, Yaba etc) can definitely identify with what i am saying that there is so much inspiration everywhere that all you need to do is to open your eyes to what goes on around you. In the developed world, life is so much bland and monotonous and lacks drama and spontaniety unlike naija where Murphy's law (whatever can go wrong will go wrong) is the rule of the day. That's why oyinbo dramas are usually boring and lack passion and spontaniety but they make up for that in good script writing.

We also need to focus on local content instead of focusing on what goes on in the westernized world of the bourgeoise, where you have some fake wannabe yanki accented actors. Oyinbo movie directors would kill to live in a society filled with sooooooo much ideas but we don't make use of them, and we have actors dressing westernized speaking with some stupid awful accent and claiming to be americans, USELESS TRASH.

PoliticsRe: Was Nigeria Ripe For Independence? by davidif: 5:16am On Jan 03, 2008
most of the oil and gas revenue would have been transferred to the UK and not used domestically.

@bawomol
You are so right you couldnt be more righter grin grin grin . That was all colonization was all about in fact it should have been called economic exploitation instead. I can't imagine working hard and having to pay taxes to the queen.
Having said that, from what its going on in Nigeria right now, naija would definitely have been better off than it is today or probably (probably being the keyword) have ended up being developed like Hong Kong. Also, there is another probability that it would end up being like South Africa where whites were only 8% (now 13%) but control over 90% of the wealth.

@ell77
sorry if i offended you, i apologise.

How can you call someone are racist and then do worst?
@wendymanda
I wasn't trying to disrespect your folks in anyway, i just hate ethnocentrism and when some dude who is soooooo frustrated with life starts spewing hate, i decided to put him back in his place and tell he ain't so special at all and that he is just like every other human being in naija irrespective of ethnicity, so he should stop having that sense of entitlement or superiority to everyone else of a different  ethnicity in naija. His people are just actors on the stage like every other ethnicity in the country or in the world and there is no "special" or "chosen" race, y'all just human beings like everybody else in the world. Nigerians are nigerians, and they are entitled to reside in any part of the country end of story. Here in yanki, we boast of our diversity and not that any ethnicity or culture is better than the other but all should be appreciated, in naija its the other way round. Can you imagine how the world would be if we were all one skin color and one culture, it would be extremely horrible and bland, God has taste and variety that's why we are not all homogenous.

SportsRe: Your Best World Cup Ever by davidif: 8:42pm On Jan 02, 2008
I love it when guys talk about old world cups just to feel special and knowledgable than all of us whereas some of them were not even born. In fact, NTA back in the day, barely broadcasted this world cup matches, it wasn't until  USA '94 that most nigerians were introduced to the world cup and it was because that was our first tournament. So you guys who just read magazines, newspapers, watch highlights and old films and then decide that it would be a good idea to come and fool us should just go sit down somewhere jare.

SportsRe: Bowl Season Is Here. by davidif(op): 8:35pm On Jan 02, 2008
@doyin13
You are right USC was absolutely amazing, they've been formidable since loosing there last games this year plus i would have loved to see them play Georgia for the Rose Bowl instead of Illinois. The organizers of the Rose Bowl are just useless, instead of breaking with tradition and putting the best team they could find they went and stuck with the same ol' PAC-10 vs BIG-10 format and see how extremely horrible it turned out. The Trojans simply outclassed and outmatched Illinois that it wasn't funny, and they made it look extremely easy because of the talent gap of both teams. Georgia too on the other hand just murdered hawai'i in an extremely boring game. It would have been much much better to watch illinois vs. hawaii instead, but what a shame though.

Disband the millitary, Nigeria is spending most of its budget on defence, can someone please tell me something: WHAT ARE WE DEFENDINGhuh instead of using the money to update our universities to world class standards, Agriculture and Rural development, establishing hi-tech industries and creating free education so that we can compete with the developed countries we are focusing on unncecessary things and we have the audacity to attack James Watson.
PoliticsRe: All Selectivity Cases Endorsed For Trial By Ribadu May Be Nullified by davidif: 8:07pm On Jan 02, 2008
kai nawa o, i tire for this country. It seems that democracy is the worst thing to ever happen to this country, look at the leaders using technicalities and rules in the constitution to protect themselves from being prosecuted. This country would never ever EVER progress, what a shame. If only we had a strong dictator who had the nigerian people at heart like the president of Singapore and Paul Kagame of Rwanda, heck even Jerry Rawlings won't be that bad.

No objection. Rule of Law at all time
@babasin, you really must have ties to this kleptomaniacs who rob our country and use selective justice.
