I'm known to be one of the most raw and outspoken atheists around here and that is still my stand- no to religious indoctrination. However, I'm just looking at things from the other side of the divide. Face it Davien, some people's lives would make absolutely no sense to themselves without the ''god'' factor. Let's be a bit more compassionate, don't you think?
zikdik there's nothing special about "god/gods" that make people need them....it is indoctrination that makes one think one is useless and purposeless without "god/gods"(and that is the whole point of indoctrinating)..
Take for example the accidents I've been having throughout the week,if I was a theist I'd assign that to be "more prayerful" and begin a regime of "fasting",because that is the purpose a theist would have noted it to be...
They may feel happy and a sense of euphoria, but it's not different from that of a ritualist, atheist, feminist, muslim etc...it's still the same dopamine that is released, religion merely makes people high on it,believing it to be "god/gods",hence very purposeful.

Lol, I guess luck is relative.

True, it's not an impossible event.
I just had another accident today...this is really something.
Again I was on a bike,I even advised the bike-man to take it easy and explained my past ordeal to him...
But as we were approaching a gate,a car just immediately came from the side of the gate to turn...
Long story short, the car and the bike were totalled....The bike impacted the side of the car and somersaulted.
As luck would have it I jumped down immediately before the bike somersaulted.
Though this time I escaped uninjured the bike-man was pinned down under his own bike....
I was now the one struggling to get it off him and some passerby who helped me get it off him..

Does smoke come out of Crocodile's nose and mouth. How many people are afraid of crocodile? SO TERRIBLE AN ANIMAL THAT SORROW IS TURNED TO JOY BEFORE HIM. Is it true that crocodile will not run at the sight of arrows and will laugh when he sees javelin? Is it true that crocodile counts iron as straw and and bronze as rotten wood? Is it true That mighty men tremble at the sight of crocodile? Is it true that traders don't bargain over crocodile or haven't you heard of crocodile soup before? Is it true that crocodile is without fear? I've seen a lot of Crocodiles tremble at the sight of hippopotamus in a river? Have you ever associated crocodile with pride?,Is the heart of crocodile as hard as stone? Is it true that you can't domesticate a crocodile? We all know that apart from its teeth, crocodile has no power to merit the description of Leviathan. Read Job 41 for the description of Leviathan. Leviathan is clearly a beast, a very powerful beast, which spits out fire, its extinct, that is why its name is unknown. Even a mad man will not give this qualifications to crocodile, not to talk of ANCIENT OF DAYS. Its clearly the work of mischief makers, who want to make sure evidence of dinosaurs(dragons) in Bible is suppressed.

www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=9&article=899
All you have to go by are creationist apologetics which(as you know) make a statement of faith to never adhere to evidence that contradicts them......if possible I would like to direct you to this pic of a "super crocodile" which is still prevalent in modern times, compare that to the description and please don't tell me you believe in dragons?! huh
I'd happily believe dragons exist if you provide the evidence instead of apologetics...

What KJV did was to translate the Bible. Let me use this as an example, Good news Bible, if you read it does not translate the verses that I used to prove mammoth is less than 5000 years old, it compressed the two questions in verse 22 and 23 into one, without using 'or' to demonstrate that it compressed two questions into one, thereby giving it a meaning that God has set aside snow for the time of battle and war, which contradicts the covenant God made with Noah. Another is Behemoth and Leviathan, which the Revised Standard Version drew the former as a hippopotamus to, even when there were still conflicts that hippopotamus tail doesn't move like cedar tree, it named the other, leviathan crocodile, which is not plausible. God clearly cursed anyone who adds or removes from the Bible. The fact is that King James can be interpreted to the verses of other Bible if interpretation is correct, e.g Gen 3:16. RSV and KJV. Another is Isaiah 60:8 Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to
their windows?, which without controversy is trying to tell us that Jews would be flown back in aeroplanes and its trying to tell us its movement in air (as a cloud) and its landing (like dove to their window), which is a perfect description of aeroplane. Even the tone with which it was written shows that its whimsical. But only God knows where Good news Bible got ships from, they inserted it into it, and still went further by illustrating it with diagram. Some pastors in my churches are so pissed off with other Bibles that they instruct those with it not to bother reading. If YAHWEH, is the true ONE, then the KJV shouldn't contain 'errors.'
The book of job accurately describes a crocodile as the leviathan,a low lying armoured creature with folds of armor on its back side and jagged teeth....
And I understand that in creationism,a desperate attempt is made to reconcile dinosaurs and scripture, but it just doesn't work... .
And still this further proves my point which you ignored,to creationist interpretation those verses represent dinosaurs,to the people who translated it,it was a hippo and a crocodile.
all because they're interpreting a dead language in forms they don't know if it represents what is being said...
So in essence the bible is a vague book....

KJV has no errors, it was written by the best of writers at that time and dutifully cross checked by King James himself, word for word. Staves is the right word unless you can give me proof through the original Hebrew manuscript. Gideons Bible also has it as staffs. We also must not forget the fact that what the statement is trying to pass across is that that they should not go with multiple things, money etc. It would be very incorrect to say that Jesus allowed them to take with them the rest but didn't allow them to take along their staff, which is a very irrelevant.

WOULD HAVE SENT THIS EARLIER BUT THIS GLO IS MISERABLE.
Actually the KJV bible does not agree with greek manuscripts(i would soon give a link for you to download the greek texts)....
What linguists and researchers did was to gather people familiar with greek and try to piece together what the words meant...
If you studied linguistics, you'd see that lost languages almost never get translated in the context it was produced...
For example, gather a bunch of people who understand english fairly and ask them what "fruit flies like a banana" mean.
To many it would be a metaphor,to others it would be literal...that was the same case for the bible....poorly understood re-translated texts by different authors...

Hoax upon hoax trailing Christianity's stories since time immemorial.
What baffles me most is that the Christians always seem to be against science and all that yet they always try to use science to validate their beliefs and their bible stories. Isn't it pathetic.

Even if that story is true (which I doubt), I hope u know how the scientist who made the discovery came about the age of that skull bone. Now, if that same scientist uses the same carbon dating method to discover and inform you that the earth is more than a billion years old (which is far much more than the earth's age as estimated from your bible), you won't believe him. But he has told you that the bone belongs to Goliath and you have believed without asking any questions.

Is this not the highest form of living by double standards?
If carbon dating shows a mammoth to be 6000 years, it's correct.
If it shows a T.rex to be 65 million years, it's wrong. grin

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_extinct_animals Your premise is only right if all things are equal, all animals live in same area, eat same food, has same taste, all is not equal.
discovermagazine.com/2013/oct/05-what-killed-off-the-woolly-mammoths This is proof that man hunted this animals into extinction, going well with the Bible.
Then I'm right because when the ark supposedly stopped would make all creatures in it exposed to the same environment, food source etc....so why have you denied this?
If they all had the same starting points then you'd expect a trend of similar extinctions at the same time period..

For example, you said only two of each species were taken-but the thing is that two species can never successfully produce healthy offspring....eventually they lose their genetic vigour and a lot of harmful mutations become realised...
So we expect to find a trend of extinctions that matches "the flood" mythology,we should see cows and dinosaurs on the same rock layer and not vastly different ones..

And your discovery magazine is a creationist paper, which serves an "a priori" conclusion that the bible is true without confirmation..
Yes they can be extinct because he gave man the power to subdue the earth.
To man there are things that are impossible, to ELOHIM, all things are possible. Luke 18:27.
Is a planet meant to be subdued or nurtured?
We've realized that subduing our planet has adverse consequences,so now we tend to live in harmony and reduce our impact...was "god" unaware of this or are you interpreting the bible the way you understand it to be?

Though God knew these animals would go extinct, HE preserved them, though HE knew they will go extinct, it still doesn't hamper the fact that we were made to make our choice, whether to keep them or to save then. In fact scientists are trying to clone them from those preserved by the ANCIENT OF DAYS. Even an Angel of the LORD called our century wonder! Daniel 12:6
So an "angel" plainly said the 21st century is that of wonder or are you reading the bible the way it's understood to you?

It is very funny how you are equating domestic animals with wild animals. I once asked my grandma that if the antelopes she brings home, if not well conservered will go extinct, she said they will keep breeding, ignorance has plagued the world for centuries. In kenya, one of the main problems in lion conservation is traditionalists, who kill lions for traditional rights. If lions can be reared among humans, it won't be soon to extinct. Bison, which is similar to the mammoth was almost extinct in america, but for vigorous(emphasis added) conservation effort by america. Hippopotamus is almost extinct, Ivory Cost was called its name because of the huge number of elephants they had, now they are no more. Bear which is needed for medicine in China is facing the same fate, leopards and chetahs are facing the same fate because of their beautiful skin, but for conservationists, they all will be extinct. We must not also forget that they die (mammoth) and have predators.
So,factoring all the conditions you listed shouldn't hippo's,bears, lions and the others also have long been extinct too?(at the same time period)
Because you ignore the fact that they too have those conditions that make them easily subsceptible to extinction and are used for luxurious materials...so was it only the mammoth that was the stock of the trade?
And about other species in the elephant family, did they have useless tusks and weren't hunted to extinction?

On your last point, God knew they were going to go into extinction, but HE saved them, you won't blame HIM for saving them, will you? At least it served as delicacy for heartless humans.
If "god" saved them then they wouldn't be extinct now would they?
And I dunno how you think humans were involved in their demise considering you believe dinosaurs were on the ark....so which ate first, the prey or the predator? undecided

Yes it was, but like language, we just can stop somethings from going extinct. Animals like Mammoth may have died drinking poisoned river and excessive hunting my man for its precious wool, tusk, ivory, skin, meat and other things such as traditional rights, lions are in danger of extinction today, there are many animals which have been known to have gone extinct due to human inteference, thereby loosing out to man in the battle of the fittest.
So why did civilizations like the sumerians(5000 years ago) not in abundance of fur from allegedly hunting mammoths?

If you conclude that they went extinct due to human activity and the luxury of their hide, why are docile creatures like rabbits, turtles, goats, sheep, cattle etc not extinct also, don't they all have lucrative uses?

What is more easier to kill...a woolly mammoth with 3-times the tusk of an elephant or rabbits and goats?...if your explanation were the case they should all be extinct..

And why would an alleged omniscient being go through the process of rescuing soon-to-be extinct creatures....is that a smart thing to do?....would you rescue a dying cat over a living one?

The short version of the story was that I got on a bike, the bike approached a refuse dump and immediately,a bottle somehow exploded in the refuse dump...impacting I and the bike-man with bottle shrapnel..he lost control of the bike, launching I and him on the open road..

I can't really tell how many times I tumbled over, all I know was that when it was over,a large crowd had surrounded me-all with a sad and pitiful look...

I stood up to find that the bike-man was being ruffled by the crowd and as I stood up,the expression I could see on the crowd was that of amazement...

Anyhoo...I got medical treatment and in all this I never had the feeling or fear of my demise(nor that I have a "guardian angel" ) ..

I just feel indifferent about the experience.....like drinking a cup of coffee..

An in case you didn't know heterosexuality is and was never the dominant form of reproduction....the earth and you are filled with organisms that self-reproduce, self-replicate,same-sex conjugally mate, have hermaphrodite genders etc...
Celebrities › Re: Bisi Alimi, HIV+ Gay Activist & 'Husband' Adopt Baby Boy by davien(m):
First of all,I'm glad for them and I hope the baby brings joy into their wonderful lives....

Secondly, the gay bashers here should better go get educated about human sexuality and sexuality(in all species) before ranting ignorantly here....

There are those who aren't attracted to any sex atall(asexual)...those who are attracted to the same sex(homosexual),those who are attracted to the opposite sex(heterosexual),those attracted to both sex(bisexual) and many more...

If you feel its "unnatural" and not "god's plan",then go take a look at naturally homosexual creatures like this one..

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Mexico_whiptail

" The lizard is a
female-only species that reproduces by producing an egg
through parthenogenesis. Despite reproducing asexually,
and being an all female species, the whiptail still
engages in mating behavior with other females of its own
species, giving rise to the common nickname "lesbian
lizards". "

The above example reproduces by same-sex conjugation....doesn't it seem counter-intuitive that this is a natural thing for them.....no magic wizard waved a wand and said "thou must multiply homosexually"... undecided

If you are not comfortable with homosexuals, then you have issues to work out with yourself(mostly dogma)...because it most certainly wasn't homosexuals that did this deed
http://sofooo..in/2013/03/girl-raped-tortured-to-death-with-huge.html?m=1

And for those who think that somehow a same-sex couple is going to affect the child negatively should review the fact that the couple initially were raised by straight parents and they both turned out gay,so it doesn't matter who raised you.....your sexual preference is attuned to you only(that is why most of you can't fathom/imagine this type of sexuality)

Jokingly its not as though they get intimate with a stinky asshole(just like we don't with a bloody vagina ), it's thoroughly cleaned... grin

Lastly you all might as well argue against interracial marriages, since you're all in the 5th century and are cultural-religious hypocrites...ironically it's the priests that are raping children and the pastors that are raping men/women... undecided

So I take it you think it isn't fair. It's tyrannical(ignoring the fact that if you believe in subjective morality then you have no right to call another society tyrannical or unfair in their judgements).
The fact that morality is subjective, doesn't change life being preferable to death as minimizing or ceasing pain maximizes happiness....
But lemme explain it to you, so you don't get a wrong picture. Listen and try to understand. I'm innocently trying to explain something. I'm not being antagonistic here. And I trust you will honestly ask me questions based on your comprehension of the statements I make. Do not be condescending or annoying, or you will be ignored. Thank you.
Well josh,it depends on if you're willing to not just hear yourself talk...
-Adams sin made us all sinners by "nature" not by "deed" In other words, we're in a prison of "sinful nature". Always tending to rebel and do wrong and always tending to love the flair and rush of the wrong we do, the sweetness of evil. (I'm sure you've felt this before)
I've never felt any "sweetness of evil" nor love the "flair of doing wrongs"....

The biblical "adam" has nothing to do with morality because it's not based on reality but jewish mythology...
-Of course we can still do good, but that doesn't change who we are by nature. Our nature of imperfection is the prison. And because of this nature, we sin and do imperfect things, which bring us condemnation. (I believe this tackles rilwayne's issue)
That is the very basis of christianity,to impose the idea that human beings are inherently evil when in reality we have as much potential to do good and evil....
In christianity a homeless korean kid that steals food to eat,has "sinned" and is supposedly going to hell....is that just?
Note well that I am not trying to make a case for this "unfairness". The very fact of it is still there. I'm just trying to make things plain. So you know what I'm talking about.

In case you don't care for all I've written so far, this is the brunt of it all:
The "unfair" issue is that God made it so that Adams nature and its consequence would pass on to all of his offspring: humanity.
Your question would be: why do I inherit Adams fallen nature and his death and seperation from God when I didn't sin like he did?

Do you want to know why?
I can see that you have a script to go by,but sadly my question is why a billion generations should pay for one man's mistakes(based on the mythology ofcourse)...
