The girl is very desperate and is not putting on her thinking cap. She made it seem that she wanted marriage and not the b/f. She also is very vain (Imagine 'we will get engaged on a yatch etc.') and want to be a Mrs. by force(I have saved for the wedding ceremony; I will buy the ring etc.) She also didnot understand what her b/f was saying, was not logical and engaging him on an emotional level. She also waited for 4yrs before talking marriage. She didnot even know the guy's vision: I want to start earning N300K before we marry; I want us to marry in 3yrs time etc.

The guy is very insensitive and does not love the girl to me. Infact, he didnot sound like he was interested in marrying her in the first place. Must bella naija and Linda Ikeji cover their engagement? How small is his apartment that they cannot begin from there? Must their wedding be the talk of the town? Is it his proposed kids that he is refering to as 'popcorn'? Don't people have a family on smaller income? Afterall, the girl claims to have savings; why can't he tell her to start a business? How long did he plan to string the girl? He is also very unyielding: the babe was trying to meet him halfway (even though she was desperate & senseless about it) but the guy was taking my way/the highway stance.

They should break up and go their seperate ways

woodcook: I think the problem is more of a societal problem than a personal one. I am yet to see where it is written that someone most get married, should anyone have access to such info kindly share with me. The society puts pressure on people and mostly ladies they think if they don't get married the world would crash. Enjoy life and enjoy your relationship, if marriage works out fine if not move on. I have seen girls bend to societal pressure and get married only for them to want out in a couple of years. As per the issue where people go into married without properly accessing their financial situation, I only feel sorry for the kids.

Obviously, it was entirely done for those watching and not really for the benefit of the person being proposed to.

Every time I see one of those public proposals, I secretly wish she'd just say no. Not because I'm a cruel hater of other people's happiness, but just because it would serve the guy right for being so thoughtless as to ask such a personal and, for some, very important, question in a public place and for putting his intended wife-to-be on the spot.

A nice proposal on a quiet beach or after a good dinner is enough for me, if my boyfriend tried any of this big in public like in a crowded mall stuff he'd be dumped so fast his head would spin.

Note to men, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, public marriage proposals are almost always cringe-inducing manipulative and WE ARE SICK OF PRETENDING THEY ARE ADORABLE. Proposals are far better when they are private, and the woman doesn't have the pressure to say yes.

I have heard horror stories of that isolation centre. Surely there must be some form of protection that our healthworkers can use that will fully protect them from getting the virus.
