Moves by the Nigerian Medical Association
( NMA ) and the National Association of
Resident Doctors ( NARD ) to pressurize the
federal government to withdraw the circular
suspending residency training programme have
fell on deaf ears as officials at the Federal
Ministry of Health were adamant on reversing
the suspension.
The suspension of the residency training
programme indirectly means the sack of about
16 000 medical doctors, leaving behind 3000
medical consultants and higher ranking
medical personnel to cater for medical services
around the country.
The government also lampooned the medical
doctors for embarking on protest and
demonstration in Abuja, calling their actions as
hypocritical.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of
Health, Linus Awute, stated this Saturday in
an interview with journalists in Abuja.
Awute observed that though the doctors
claimed to be on strike, some were working
on the field.
He blamed the doctors for the decision by the
federal government to suspend residency
training for the medical practitioners, including
the directive to the managements of public
hospitals to find replacement for them.

Official memo..

HealthRe: Nano-silver Nigerian Ebola Drug Is A Pesticide- US by dBard: 4:03am On Aug 16, 2014
Tolu91: Patrick Sawyer was under
surveillance in Liberia for
Ebola
-Liberian govt said he escaped
quarantine and
sneaked into Nigeria -CCTV footage at Liberian
airport showed him
avoiding contact with people
and at a point lying
prostrate on the floor looking
like he was in deep pain
-His sister with whom he had
contact died of Ebola
that he was aware of
-When he arrived Nigeria he
didn't avoid contact with people rather he allowed
airport staff to carry
him
-At the hospital in Lagos he
allowed medical
personnel to treat him just as they would any normal
patient
-When asked if he came in
contact with an Ebola
victim at the point he started
showing symptoms his answer was negative
-When test confirmed the
obvious and he was
confronted with the truth, he
reacted in a violent
manner urinating on the medical staff, at least one
of them
-Sawyer who was enroute to
Calabar was insistent
on continuing his journey
despite his condition -Liberian govt has apologised to
Nigeria for
exporting Ebola to Nigeria
-Nigerian govt has approached
US for the ZMAPP
test drug they used on 2 American health workers
who contracted the virus in
Sierra Leone
-Obama said its too early to
bring the drug to Africa,
that what Africa needs is improved health facilities,
yet with all their improved
health facilities they
chose ZMAPP for their own
-A vaccine for Ebola is
underway we are told and will be ready latest July next year
-The vaccine will 1st be
administered in Africa, how
generous and selfless they are
with the vaccine but
not the curative drug -Is somebody thinking at all? -
Dont forget Sawyer
was a Liberian American with
his family resident in
America
-If people in high places could volunteer themselves
as suicide bombers in countries
like Afghanistan,
Iraq, Pakistan etc, do you think
they can't volunteer
for chemical terrorism suicide mission?
-The conventional terrorism
exported to Africa and
heavily funded by them to
destabilize our economy
and depopulate us seem no longer enough
-God is watching but we too
have to watch our
backs
-Should we trust them with their
so called vaccine when it comes?
-Africa, its time to start
thinking, time to start asking
questions
-We have lived with monkeys,
chimpanzees, gorillas, wild animals that havens always
been part of our
delicacies and never had ebola
-Why now and why always
Africa. HIV/AIDS in
Africa 1st likewise ebola? JUST THINKING ALOUD
..n wat stopped Nigerians from taking appropriate preventive measures for a sick man coming from an Ebola ravaged country instead of just dumping him@ d next available hospital wit sirens blaring.

The man no try, yes but our people were/are foolish.

Morons, why would d U.S dash you a drug they spent years n countless research developing at a very high cost when d same government that was quick t request the drug has No Concrete plan on ground on combating the spread...a country where indiscipline n corruption is a national 'right' ??
If it were me as well, I wouldn' bother as well.

Ebola in Nigeria is containable.. If the necessary tins are done, but of course d gullible n lazy Nigerian will rather run around looking f a quick fix.

Doctors’ sack is illegal – NMA.
Nigeria Medical Association has expressed its disappointment at the sack of resident doctors by the Federal Government.
The body on Friday directed its members not to collect any sack letter, saying the action is illegal because it did not follow status book.
It also directed its members to shun any local appointment with the government hospitals as directed by the circular.
The Federal Government had on Thursday issued a circular suspending residency training programmes for doctors.
The country is currently groaning under the dearth of specialist doctors with 3,000 specialists to over 170 million Nigerians. Besides, there are over 25,000 Nigerian doctors in the United States and over 4,000 in the United Kingdom.
The consequence of the government circular, according to a medical doctor with the National Hospital, Abuja, Ujam Kingsley,  is that in the next five-six years when the present ones passes out, there would be no specialist doctor in the country.
The training which comes up immediately after National Youth Service, Dr. Ujam said lasts between six to eight years and it is designed to develop specialist doctors in different fields of medicine.
Reacting to government’s order, NMA President, Dr. Kayode Obembe, noted that the current government’s stance will further worsen the present industrial harmony.
Obembe insisted that government action was illegal as it did not follow the books, saying “It is our believe that the status book that established the residency training programme has not been followed.
Residency Training programme is governed by status books.
“No single person or individual no matter how highly placed can just directly and wishfully jettison all these documents and go and sack our doctors. It is illegal and we condemn it in its entirety. That is our position on that,” the NMA president said.

MrsAwesome: You forgot MDCAN was restrained by court not to go on strike until their issues with JOHESU has been resolved. FG is out and there are analysts, attorneys etc that must have plans to counter any move made by NMA. When Okonjo-iweala stated that FG can't print money to pay doctors, that is when I realised all these may result to nothing at the long run.
ONLY 16,000 ARD members, they are a paltry sum compared to JOHESU members. ARD MEMBERS are now a scapegoat for the two elephants.
Am aware of d restrictions on MDCAN, but they can rephrase it.. protest, downing of tools, something.
I personally think ARD has a case if they go to court.
The restrictions on MDCAN also, I think, is concerning d JOHESU matter. It won't/shouldn't hold in this situation.
NMA moves are clear tho limited, go to court n shut down totally, all tins pertaining to medicine based on Hippocratic principles
HealthRe: NMA Response To The F.G Directive by dBard(op): 9:14pm On Aug 14, 2014
MrsAwesome: Battle line is drawn.
I am afraid of where FG is going with this, It took them 6 weeks to arrive to these decision.
FG is ready to trample on doctors, they did rather appoint foreign doctors than local doctors.
It will shake the health sector but will settle.
Obembe saw these coming and tried to bow out with his tail between his legs intact but NMA won't hear of it.
Since NMA is not a registered trade union, they are going to be sued by FG until they start bleeding from all the natural orifices, I just wish I am wrong.
I don't see it playing out that way.
NMA on behalf of ARD takes d gov't to court. ..
(If) MDCAN n NAGGMD stand their ground n continue d strike, which they by necessity should, d gov't will only get embarrassed@ d end of d day.

This was a Smart altho ultimately a reckless move by d gov't.

No protective hazmat suits. no life insurance. no drugs. what has become of the health personel who haver been treating victims in lagos.
if they were adequately equipped, none of them would have gotten infected.

for d MORONS congratulating d f.g on dis idiotic albeit impressive move, u should know that without residency training there'll be No specialization .. n hence no need f medical training as a whole, cos all clinical med students training is done almost exclusively by residents, cos dey are most available.

I mite b wrong tho.

2. You feel justified ( He must have seen something good in me to come back)

3. You dont seem to understand clearly when you are wrong and keep pushing other peoples buttons even when they say stop (I felt it was business as usual till he stopped picking my calls)

We all learn and grow, but one cannot learn till they open their minds and hearts to the wants and needs of others.
