Those who designed the constitution envisaged that the 3 arms of government will check each other.

When the legislature sits and pass bills in the bedroom of the executives, under the supervision of the executives then democracy has failed. The legislature has sold their independence. At the end of the day the populace will suffer as what ever bill is passed will just be through paddy paddy arrangement between the executives and the legislators for their personal benefits.

No surprise anyway, recently we saw a speaker of one of the states kneeling before one of the 'progressive' governors.

So they can as well pass bills in the governor's bedroom.

The legislature in most states r playthings of d govs. R/S esp. It was particularly worrisome last year wen dey went t Pledge Allegiance t d gov..d supposed checks
The said budget as well was passed within minutes without (I.m.o) proper deliberation on d fine points of d budget.

Clinics physicians run is to ask for new complaints if not: the drugs is repeated in the folder and prescription sheet U go and buy!
For surgeons they operate at least once a week rarely do you see any team operating twice per week in any tertiary hospital else they are on call.
Physios do not run shift ask any body. Nurses job is more stressful of them all: your time can not even Nurse your sister not to talk of chronic debilitating ill strangers.

All physicians do is ask for nu complaints ?? Do U know how Blatantly Ignorant u sound ?? I won't even justify that statement with an answer.
The only advice I will give to u is to, one day, run a theatre session wit a surgeon n see how 'Easy' d work is.
If u don't know..Nurses these days do not do more than taking vital signs, administering drugs (mostly oral sef cos d I.v's r a Drs duty) n making sure d patient is comfy..not taking anything away from them..anything more than that n d Drs on call r called.
Do u want t compare d hours ?? A typical Dr shift is from 8 to 4 minus call duties n emergencies..no day offs. Nurses run shifts wit day offs , public hols etc..same wit All d oda health workers. Tell me, if d pay is according to work hours who will get more, much more?
Drs do a lot more than they're appreciated for.
Ask d wives of Drs n maybe you'll 've an inkling of wat they go thru instead of coming t display ur ignorance.

Bottom line.. A Dr has enuff knowledge to play d role /work in d capacity of everyother health worker. How many physiotherapists or nurse can accurately diagnose any ailment outside their limited scope.??

Drs have and WILL Always be d head of a medical team if u don't like it, am sure there is a lagoon or transformer nearby, u can do d needful.

@Dr OBD: you may research to find that the developed nations segregate and pay their health worker in terms of hours spent on patients irrespective of your professional alignment in the sector.
They are surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists etc not physicians.
Consultant physicians in Nigerian comes to work at average of 2days per week, do 3 for 4hrs ward round or clinic and go to their private clinic, telling residents to call whenever any thing serious comes up.
A DPT spends average of 1 to 2hrs to see a single patient.

Do physiotherapists run clinics everyday??
Don't nurses run at least 3 shifts per day?
Do Drs get day offs, public hols etc in their rosters??
How many times do CNOs come to work??
Can u honestly compare Drs hours to nurses??

@post, I think it's a 'supposed to' thing for a citizen to be aware of what's happening around him/her. Ignorance is no bliss....it's danger. When yo are asked to run, you will not because you do not listen to the news, you don't care to know the recent happenings in your state and the country at large.

It's good to have a little knowledge about every sector of the economy.

How can a person comfortably stay in a cocooned world...you only sleep, wake, eat, go to work, watch movies/music, probably gossip and that's it. Our idea of news these days(for some) is gossip and rumour mongering.

Read the papers, watch the news, engage in intelligent conversations...be interested in your country's politics and governance...if you aren't, who is supposed to do so for you? Who is going to tell the leaders what you want and keep them accountable?

It's little wonder young man and women of today do not have the interest to read long 'epistles'. You keep hearing, ''Oooh...who do you expect to read all that? Pls summarize'', etc.
Young people? If it were the older generation, one would understand. But young people with energy, clear eyes, sharp intellect, to see reading as a chore is unbelievable.

I like politics...could talk about it on and on...the banking sector, the infamous letters, the party games, Nigeria's geographical distribution and history, the war in South Sudan, Egypt uprising and so on.

It's good to know not only your surroundings, but about others too.

Even the Late Nelson Mandela asked the Nigerian officia who went to pay him a private visit if the apartheid story and Nigeria's contributions and help to South Africa and other nations weren't taught in Nigerian schools..... I can imagine the reaction of some students if that were to happen. Some would probably ask, ''How is this supposed to help me pass my exams/Can this put food on my table?'', and so on.

Yet, these are the supposed to be 'leaders of tomorrow'. How can you do better than your predecessors if you have zero inkling on the errors of yesteryears? How can you improve on what you do not know?

We need to change our mentality- as men and as women. The change you so cry and condemn others for could be in your hands tomorrow to effect. Would you do better if given the mantle NOW?

I tend to agree wit u but just to be 'politically correct', I would say a Lot of Naija girls.
