onuman: To free themselves up from the vices or scourge you named in the bolded above, Edo state voters rejected APC during the last presidential election in Nigeria. Many other states rejected APC in the polls, as the APC reduced Nigeria to become the poverty capital of the world. Poverty breeds prostitution and the other vices you named. No lady without poverty ever takes to prostitution. But your APC subverted the will of Edo voters and other voters in many states of Nigeria by brazenly STEALING the presidential election.
You have forgotten that the subsidy removal you claim is causing this present hardship was also supported by your LP and even the PDP. If APC subverted the will of Edo voters, then how come LP won in Edo State?
onuman: Three days of school in a week. Western Education is Haram. Do we blame the governor? Blame the APC which has ruined Nigeria, made the country to become the POVERTY CAPITAL of the world.
Nigeria's voters were rejecting APC in the polls of the last presidential election, but APC through its Mahmood Yakubu, on seeing that APC was losing, dumped the transparent electronic transmission of vote results from BVAS to INEC portal, he bent down to take his vomit by resorting to illegal manual collation of votes results to pronounce APC candidate winner. Mahmood had earlier vowed that no other method except electronic transmission of vote results should be used to conduct the general elections of February 2023.
You have forgotten that even your LP/Obi too supported the removal of subsidy and even cash crunch during campaign hence would have brought more hardship on the country had they won the polls.
helpee: Congratulations. Anyway, I was one of the people that eventually fought tooth and nail to install Tinubu. This is not so much because I believed in him but because our brothers across the Niger went overboard with their Pathological hatred for Yorubas. If not for Obi, ATIkU would have won so I am still correct. Nevertheless, I am happy PO lost regardless of how off mark my predictions were. Give it to Tinubu too, he earned his victory
FOR YOUR INFORMATION TOO… at the time I was making the prediction, kwakwanso and Peter obi were still in PDP. Tinubu stood no chance assuming PO wasn’t greedy and kwankwanso stayed behind in PDP. Many of us backed out when we saw the politics of the Igbos and that was the real deal breaker.
If PO weren't in the picture, majority of the Southern and Middle Belt votes he got would have gone to Tinubu hence still giving him the victory. Tinubu's victory in Benue and his coming a very close second in Nassarawa proves this. Your major contention was even that Northerners would leave Tinubu high and dry for Atiku, but what we saw was Tinubu crushing Atiku in Kano by over 400K margin meaning that without Kwankwaso in the race, the Kano margin would have been up to 1 million. Then Tinubu's victory in Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Niger, Benue and Kwara; together with his very close margins in Katsina, Yobe, etc all showcase that Northerners aren't as bigoted and conservative as you labelled them, and that exactly was my own argument.
Ladasha: Experts in the house, please what would be the likely impact of President Tinubu's speech;
“The central bank must work towards a unified exchange rate…they should direct the fund from arbitrage to meaningful investment”
“Interest rates need to come down, currently too high, anti-people, anti-business, we have to work on all of those”
1. How will a unified exchange rate impact USD/NGN? 2. Is it wise to hold cash in NGN and watch events unfold? 3. How will the President statements affect NGX and stock prices?
A sustainable fall in interest rate will drive cash towards the stock market. Such could spark off a repeat of the 2007/2008 crazy bull which saw very dry and fossilized bones ressurect on the floor of NSE.
hardywaltz: Life is strange.. This was the same man who allowed Fayose and FFK to use his TV station to do foolish documentaries about how PMB will die in office.
PMB is still alive and didn't die in office ..
Today Dokpesi is the one dead...
You have just said it all. One has to be very careful about predicting death for fellow men. Experiences since 2015 in Nigeria have clearly shown that God hates it when mortal and sinful humans try to play God by predicting death for others hence he punished with that very death those involved.
helpee: You are saying rubbish. You think.an average Fulani will leave his brother to vote Tinubu or what? You are short sighted. You think this is about IBO/Yoruba rather than north/ south
So now where are those who gave you the 15 likes when you wrote this? And to think that you labelled people here as indomie generation for disagreeing with you about this your prediction was the climax of the joke. Now that Tinubu has won through majorly Northern votes and in Fulani States, who is of the indomie generation now and short-sighted?
helpee: I don't care anyway. I am.only pointing out facts to you. I have nothing to gain from anyone that wins. They are all the same.Just arrange your family out of the country for better life so there is no sense I am getting in 2023.
IF YOU WANT TO REPLICATE 1993, THEY WILL HAVE TO BAN ATIKU, SARAKI, TAMBUWAL etc ( the same way babangida banned yardua, Ciroma shinkafi) and then nominate garba shehu as the northern candidate. This was the exact scenario in 1993. Comparing present situation to that time is fooolish.
FINALLY, 1983- Yoruba candidate - Tears 1993- Yoruba candidate- Tears 2003- Yoruba son but not their candidate- Won 2023- Yoruba candidate-
Any year that ends with 3 has historically ended in tears for Yoruba candidates
How market today with all these your authoritative postulations?
Deadlytruth: From all you have written above it is clear that Kingibe national chairman status was what even helped his miniature popularity unlike MKO who didn't need to hold any position in the party to become known. It is like arguing that Buni is a very popular candidate who will crush any Southerner in APC primary just because he has once been a national chairman or that under the present circumstances, Iyiorcha Ayu is sure to crush any Southerner in PDP just because he is the current national chairman of the party. Anyway, I won't even waste my time on this back and forth. I will only bookmark this page and remind you after both APC and PDP primaries as well as the general election.
The bolded, It has happened and I hereby remind you.
helpee: What are you even saying? Kingigbe wasn't known? The result of the primaries saw ABIOLA COMING FIRST WITH 3600 ballots, kingigbe was second with 3200 and run off was held between kingibe and Abiola and Abiola won..The only thing you wanted to say was that ATIKU WAS SUPPORTED BY YAARDUA who was already banned. ATIKU was not known nationally in 1993 but yaardua was known. ATIKU only belonged to that movement and it was still that movement that nominated him as Obasanjo's VP. The context to which I spoke is clear. We are here discussing Tinubu versus the popular northern candidates. If he can't prevent the pDP from nominating a popular northern candidate, he will find it difficult. To make things easy for ABIOLA, he quickly made kingibe that came second in the primaries his vice president and at that point, no new northern candidate was left. If babangida didn't ban yardua, Abiola won't have an easy path despite his philantropy
KINGIBE WAS THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF SDP the platform that Abiola contested on and you are saying he wasn't known. He came very close to Abiola in the primaries and defeated ATIKU despite having no single bloc of supporters but clusters of supporters nationally
Oga, abeg where you dey? How market? Few months ago you were all over this thread predicting that Tinubu would not even win APC primary let alone the election proper, and that North would never ignore their own (Atiku) for a Southerner. You kept citing MKO experience even though you were told that the circumstances are different. Here you have Tinubu not only supported by the North to win the primary but also to win the general election and he has been sworn in today. Oya come and explain how your theory of Northerners never supporting a Southerner failed. I am waiting. Recall that in my last response to you, I decided to refrain from engaging you further but promised to come back to call you out on this thread when it happens. Oya come out now to explain your theory.
gidgiddy: What is Northern coup? Why not call Ifeajuna coup Southern coup? Why ethnic tag? If Nzeogwu/Ifeajuna coup is Igbo coup, then Murtalas coup was an Hausa coup, and Buharis coup was a Fulani ciup. More than 6 coups happened in Nigeria, only the first one has ethnic tag
Jokers everywhere
Northerners generally plotted that coup and the pattern of killings reflected an objective of revenge killing of Igbos alongside the sparing of Northerners just like Igbos killed mostly Northerners and spared their own brothers in the first coup.
gidgiddy: Is that what they told you? His second coup may not have shed blood, but his first coup claimed over 300 lives, mostly Southerners, none from his North
What you call his first coup was actually the revenge coup which Northerners generally (not Murtala Mohammed alone) carried out in retaliation for the Igbo coup of January 15 1966. Northerners don't deny that that coup was a Northern coup. But why do Igbos keep denying that the Ifeajuna coup was not an Igbo coup despite the glaring lopsided casualty pattern which made it so clear added to the fact that Nzeogwu the most active participant of the coup implicitly confessed that it was an Igbo coup?
It is an Igbo coup not because of the ethnic composition of the plotters but because of the ethnic pattern of the casualty distribution, and that was why it wasn't perceived as an Igbo coup at the initial stage when the news just broke out that a change of government had happened by a coup carried out by mostly Igbo soldiers, but later came to be tagged an Igbo coup when more information about the pattern of killings started coming out and people began to realize that politicians from every other region were killed but no single one from the Eastern Region of Igbos. Or can you give us a list of Igbo politicians killed in the coup? Let us assume a scenario in which four Yoruba army officers and one Igbo colleague joins them to stage a coup presently and in the process kill Buhari, kill, El-rifai, kill Ngige, kill Amaechi, kill Okowa kill Hope Uzodima, kill Soludo, kill Ahmed Lawan, kill Ganduje and kill one insignificant lowranking Yoruba army officer and allow Osinbajo escape to the US for safety three clear months to the execution day; is there any explanation in the world that can be put forward to convince you that such a coup isn't a Yoruba coup?
Evboesi: If he already collects the taxes paid by bikes and buses directly, why is he complaining, how else did he expect the local government liaison officials to generate revenue, this guy na ingrate
Bros I don’t think the money, taxes from buses and bikes got to government coffers o, see this video, I just watched it now. shaibu nearly cry
Just give me few days from now and I will get you a copy of the state government's receipts of commercial motorcyclist's payments. Philip Shuaibu is a 🤡. Don't forget how he and Obaseki used this same victim crying show to deceive some of the gullibles Edo voters into believing Oshiomhole was the one who held them from working in their first term only for them to realize that his second term is now far worse than his first term now that Oshiomhole can't be said to still be in charge. You don't have to fall for their old trick a second time.
tiswell: your personal opinion is insignificant on this
As far as the matter is concerned, my personal opinion as an indigene of Edo State is far more important than your own personal opinion as an Igbo man. Edo State has nothing to do with Igbo and it will therefore never be part of Biafra. Even if all the other Southern states decide to pull out of Nigeria, come together and become known as Biafra, Edo State will still not join that ill-fated union. You can take this to the bank.
inoki247: Lol 3M can that money even pay all the 18 LGA secretariat NEPA bill...
What happen to the Ticket money wey dem dey cut for all this Market people, Keke, Okada...
Obaseki is still the one collecting the bolded leaving the LGA liaison officers appointed by him over the LGAs with virtually no power to generate meaningful revenue. Oshiomhole really destroyed Edo State by ever picking this man from oblivion to govern the state.
Christistruth02: Don’t the Taxis and the Okada riders pay the daily Motor Park duty?
With that alone each LG will make more that N3 Million a day
The Governor needs to send his Aides undercover to the Motor Parks and the Markets to see what is happening
Actually taxes from commercial mortocyclists and motor taxis in Edo State are currently being collected by Obaseki himself. In addition, what we presently have in Edo State are not duly and democratically elected LGA chairmen but Obaseki appointed LGA liaison officers which are unknown to law. When I travelled to my hometown late last year, the okada I took showed me the state government's ticket for the daily tax he pays for plying the roads.
onuman: You still got stuck with the expired world of the Azikiwes and the colonial masters, but refused to address the pertinent issues I raised regarding nationhood.
The Roman Empire held with military force in Rome extended throughout northern Africa and western Asia. But it was dysfunctional, like Nigeria. Many decades of the Roman empire passed, before real men not glued to parasitic lifestyle, decided that the Roman empire must go down for the well-being of the citizens of the countries in the empire. In most dysfunctional Nigeria of diverse ethnic and religious groups, your lot got glued to cheap proceeds from crude oil and gas in one part of Nigeria, for which you crave continuation for Nigeria as a sovereign country. The 220 million people in Nigeria suffer the consequences of operations in a dysfunctional country from which a few politicians amass wealth. You don't see, like people in the old Roman empire saw, that what matters to one about one's country is how happy and contended one is about one's country, not how rich or big one's country is.
Imagine an Igbo man accusing me, a native of the SS, of crude oil parasitism! Wonders shall never end. Does the crude oil deposit in your SE near those recently discovered in Benue, Kogi and Nassarawa talkless of that in my SS region to warrant this inverted accusation? Make una see comedian o! What my state collects as 13% derivation makes a child play whatever is received as total federal allocation by whichever SE state you come from. A total summation of the crude oil output from Lagos and the three new Northern states in the league of oil producing states shows clearly that even the North has evidently handed you SE the MOST PARASITIC REGION title.
The question you hypocritically refused to answer in all your diatribes about the dysfunctional state of Nigeria occasioned by the unitary structure remains; Which ethnic extraction in Nigeria produced the Aguiyi Ironsi who abolished through military fiat the initial structure which insulated every ethnic group or region from parasitism of one another? Which tribe produced the Professor Nwabueze who, twelve years after Ironsi did that blunder based on his (Nwabueze's) recommendation, was given the opportunity in the 1978 constitutional conference to correct the blunder by being made head of committee for review of concurrent, residual and exclusive lists yet he again recommended the transfer of even more items from the residual and concurrent lists to the exclusive list in search of the very one Nigeria and fake national unity which had already culminated in a war which consumed millions of innocent citizens? And what exactly were the intentions of Ironsi and Nwabueze other than the very desire to nationalize crude oil revenue source to enable their kinsmen whom they thought would be at the helm of affairs permanently to control and enjoy the wealth of all other regions exactly the way the North currently does? You think the average SS person perceives the Igbo man as different from the Hausafulani regarding the quest to unjustly control and enjoy their crude oil proceeds? If you lots were so rational and equity loving, then why did the Eastern minorities get denied of their bid to get their COR region from the Old Eastern Region?
onuman: 21st century. ------------------ 1999-2001, the 12 far northern Nigeria states adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal laws because their people have different value systems from rest of Nigeria. -------------------------------
Even if what you wrote is true, why do some of you still live in the expired world of the Azikiwes and the colonial masters? Azikiwe was on his own to rule a big country, your inclusion of Igbos to Azikiwe is your figments of imagination. He never consulted with Igbos.
Don't you see that the richest countries of the world in the 21st century have no crude oil and gas deposits, and indeed, have no mineral resources?
Don't you see that the Europeans don't tolerate multi ethnic or multi religious country in Europe? Switzerland had its 3 ethnic groups agree beforehand for a governance system. Belgium of two ethnic groups has been the most politically unstable country in Europe. UK of the English, Wales, Scots and Irish share common value systems. Don't you see that nationhood CAN NEVER emerge in a country with ethnic and religious groups that don't share common value systems? From Day 1, the colonial masters created Nigeria, they expressed doubts the country would survive. Diverse ethnic and religious groups forced to form one country is a ticket to failure. That's why most African countries fail.
That we are in 21st century doesn't change the fact that we are suffering today the consequences of Azikiwe's and his Igbo cheerleader's myopic one-Nigeria philosophy. Azikiwe did all he did as an elected parliamentarian in a democratic government thus he acted and spoke on behalf of Igbos as far as representative democracy is concerned. Did Azikiwe vote himself into that parliament? If his speeches and deeds didn't represent the position of you Igbos, then why isn't there in history any record of Igbos moving motion for his recall from that parliament? You can't just claim he wasn't representing you yet you allowed him continue having a field day pushing those his ideas which you now claim were against your position.
Brush1: I don’t comprehend the issue here, am not Igbo but if they refer a departure from Nigeria, why can’t they let them go. You hate them but still want them with you.
Do they themselves really want to go? If they are sincere about their exiting Nigeria, they would have simply distanced themselves from the last election. How could you be so interested in the election of a country you sincerely don't want to belong to anymore? And by the way, which people killed the motion for secession clause in 1954 parliamentary proceedings? Which tribe promulgated the Anti-secession Decree and got Isaac Adaka Boro sentenced to death by hanging for trying to break his Niger Delta Region away from Nigeria? You think it was Hausafulanis or Yorubas?
frankson1: I dunno why they're confused... they refused to recognise Tinubu as the President-elect and at the same time wants him to include S/E people in his transition committee. No be juju be this
Thier attitude is like that of a man who hates a particular lady with passion yet strongly desires to sleep with her. What an interesting irony!
onuman: No better senses in you to tell you that you are not supposed to belong in the same country with the Igbos. Parasitism life in your blood makes you depend on proceeds from crude oil and gas deposits in the Niger delta. Therefore you see Igbo as inseparable from sharing one country with you.
Azikiwe and Igbos generally were the originators of the philosophy that Nigeria unity is perpetual and non-negotiable. They even instigated the Colonial Authority to threaten with charges of treason all those proposing the provision in the Independence Constitution a clause by which any part of the country would easily exit the union without a single gunshot or bloodshed. So why are you talking as if Nigeria was cemented together by other tribes just to punish Igbos?
truthCoder: You are right on the fact that they should build more diplomatic bridges.
But you forget that trauma leaves a mark of distrust in the victims.
If your parents lost all their family in a war in 1969 before you were born, i am sure you might have some little resentment against the people who killed them especially if those wounds have not been properly treated.
This is the main reason why terrorism still exists in the north and Palestine is still a hot bed. As long as the underlying factors are not resolved, the problem will just regenerate.
You assume i am not using my brain. I have nothing to say to that.
You seem not to be aware that the war itself was the climax of the unprovoked murder of some other tribes' dearly loved and highly revered leaders by Igbos. Put yourself in the shoes of Northerners in the context of losing their cream de la cream leaders like Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Aborgo Largema, Gwam Pam, etc to death through the bullets of some Igbo boys whom these leaders were old enough to father and see if you would have reacted differently.
onuman: Because of crude oil and gas deposits in the Niger Delta.
This your choice of always bringing Niger Delta oil into every issue is simply disingenuous. And by the way, Niger Delta oil would have been for Niger Deltans alone had your brother Ironsi never tampered with the Independence Constitution.
truthCoder: Apart from the first republic when we had the same Zik as a parliamentary president and Aguiyi’s small stint as HOS, no igbo has led this country. That is the undeniable fact.
You mention CBN governorship positions, ministerial positions and legislative positions and assume that should be enough for a whole region in 5 decades?
For a region that suffered mass destruction during the war, a national redevelopment fund should have been established for the ravaged areas since 1970.
The ports, roads, industrial hubs and potential technological advancements in the east have not been developed as much as they should.
The Igbos were initially the clerical and administrative hub of old Nigeria and were the bulk of intellectuals in the railways, ferries, government agencies and ministries. The civil war led to the death of many of this cadre and Nigeria slowly entered into a period of intellectual rot. The quota system did not help matters.
Igbos survived through trading, not by choice but as as a second option. If the civil war has not started and the embarrassing quota system was not introduced , the corps of intellectuals lost could have pushed us towards development and made us the real giant of Africa.
If you feel the Igbos are not marginalized, have you tried to consider what your response would have been if a Yoruba or Hausa/Fulani has never ruled this country since inception?
If those Igbo Majors who plotted and executed the unfortunate and Ill-advised January 15 1966 coup had not spared their own kinsmen like Azikiwe, Michael Okpara, Aguiyi Ironsi, contrary to the planning stage agreement that all politicians in the Azikiwe-Balewa Government be liquidated; or better still if they had not plotted the coup at all in the first instance but allow Nigerian voters change the government democratically by themselves regardless of how difficult it could have been to do so through the ballot box; the war and all other events that came with it would have been totally avoided hence our history as a country would have been spared of that avoidable genocide and the failed state status of Nigeria today. So anyhow you look at it, Igbos sparked off the conflagration which ended up consuming them and also consuming the promising future Nigeria had at independence.
