The building of Dangote Refinery has taken at least five years of work non-stop and it is still far from completion yet someone is claiming that Oshiomhole built a completed and functioning refinery within a year timeline between his marriage to a cape Verdian and when he left office. This only shows that the average Nigerian has no use for critical logical reasoning.

He even recently tried to introduce a very obnoxious form of tenement rate system in Edo State after it was successfully resisted by residents, he resorted to imposing a monthly levy N4,500 on Okada riders in the state and down to the most rural areas where these motorcyclists are riding on roads he has refused to attend to.

Gabriel Igbinedion had already used it in 2003 when he admitted his son was a failure but should be allowed to repeat the class, and of a truth Edo people voted for him again and then his second term ended up a total disaster.

The most ironical aspect of the whole emotional manipulation was that lecturers of AAU, the supposed leading lights of the state violated their civil service anonymity principle and came out campaigning for Obaseki purportedly against Oshiomhole's alleged godfarherism and also gave Obaseki an award of excellence even though Obaseki had already reduced the state's subvention to AAU from the over N200m Naira Oshiomhole was giving them to a paltry N40m.

Gabriel Igbinedion dictated twice to Edo people on whom to vote for. Remember when he admitted his son failed woefully in his first term but asked Edo people to vote for him to repeat the class and they actually did? That was the darkest moment in Edo godfarherism history. Remember how Anenih imposed Osunbor and when Osunbor began to prove stubborn he removed him through the courts as some Edo people would argue? Godfarherism actually started from Edo State so I find it funny when Edo people now try to create the impression that godfarherism is a taboo in the state.
The only time Edo people would have been adjudged to truly detest attempts to dictate their choices is if they had rejected both Obaseki and Iyamu and voted for a new party altogether. Voting for Obaseki being presented by the same Dan Orbih who had initially called him a thief and certificate forger is same as voting for Iyamu being presented by the same Oshiomhole who too had initially called him a thief and cultist. I don't see any difference between them.

Contrary to your opinion, I followed the issue from the beginning until the anti-open grazing bill was passed by the EDHA because my late father has farm land in one of the villages in Ikpoba Okha LGA and I didn't trust the governor. A lot of publications were online about his government's position on the issue even before he met Buhari. From July 2019 until 2021, the governor insisted that there was no land in Edo State for RUGA. He even advised that Sambisa Forest was a good place for the RUGA (ThisDay Live 7/24/19). Even in February 2021, he also stated that there was no free land for ranching in Edo State (The Cable, February 18, 2021), debunking the part that I challenged in your initial post. Also, he came out and stated what he discussed with Buhari. If he had publicly rejected ceding land to herders for grazing, why should I believe mischief-makers who claim that he secretly discussed with Buhari giving lands in Edo State to Fulani herdsmen, as you stated earlier? If you believe that the links to the publications that I provided were half-baked, why should I not believe that the ones you provided weren't malicious?
I stand by my initial submission that he never promised to give lands to Fulani herdsmen for grazing. I am not a fan of the man, but when I see something that doesn't sound true, I point it out. Btw, I apologize for the word that you found offensive in my initial post.

You still don't get it. Let me make it as simple as possible.

1. The FG proposed NLTP. Obaseki had initially said Edo would not give any land for cattle colonies.
2. All Southern governors convoked a meeting in which they examined the proposal and concluded it was RUGA (proposal for cattle colonies and grazing routes for Fulani herdsmen) and Obaseki was in attendance and agreed with that conclusion by his colleagues.
3. The Southern governors therefore rejected the proposal and all agreed to sign anti-open grazing law to forestall the FG from going ahead with the NLTP in the South. Obaseki agreed with them and didn't object at all.
4. After leaving the meeting, few days later Obaseki organized a Town Hall meeting in Benin where Edo residents told him they didn't want the NLTP at all in any form thus reiterating the position of the Southern governors.
5. Few days later Obaseki went to Abuja to lie to Buhari that Edo people had agreed to key into NLTP (the same repackaged cattle colonies proposal for which he initially said he wouldn't release Edo lands) and that the FG should help release money to enable him set it up for them.
6. Obaseki also began to argue that he wouldn't sign anti-open grazing bill because Edo State would not be able to implement it. Why didn't he say this during the Southern governors meeting in Asaba?
7. Wike wondered why Obaseki was beginning to act out of accordance with the Asaba meeting agreement. And that was the genesis of the trouble.

Those who voted for Obaseki were mainly Edo South and Edo Central. In the case of Edo South their grouse was that Oshiomhole from Edo North wanted to start controlling them. For Edo Central, their reason was their traditional pro-PDP leanings and Obaseki's promise to anoint an Esan son as his successor.
The argument that it was because of Oshiomhole's bringing back of Ize Iyamu doesn't cut it because Dan Orbih who brought Obaseki back in 2020 had also in 2016 badly damaged him with accusatios of N5bn fraud in Lagos, illegal marriage, forged certificate, etc. In fact Dan Orbih went to court back then over Obaseki's forged credentials and still later made sponsored publications on it in Punch Newspaper.

Have you forgotten that Edo State Civil Societies Organization issued a statement asking Obaseki to furnish the public with the complete details of the meeting he had with Buhari?

Secondly, as shown in your own link, the ranching issue was basically about the National Livestock Transmission Plan of the Federal Government which was being suspected to be a repackaged RUGA proposal that had already been discredited and rejected by all Southern governors. And in truth the NLTP was actually an offer by which the FG was seeking to create cattle colonies in Southern States hence Some Southern governors met and rejected it but now argued that Cattle reading was private business for which land should be acquired from state governors by any interested individual rather the FG cleverly confiscating state lands for them. Now why on earth should Obaseki go to Buhari and inform him that Edo people wanted to key into NLTP which was in conception a plan by the FG to take lands and give to people, and at the same time declare that the same Edo people had agreed that cattle rearing was a private business for which any interested person should buy land for himself? With the success of the fake anti-godfatherism gimmick then coupled with the feelings in Edo South that Oshiomhole wanted to control them coupled with Obaseki's tongue in cheek promise to Esans to hand over to their son at the end of his second term, it would have been easier for the eye of a camel to pass through a needle for anyone else Oshiomhole could have chosen to get these two Senatorial Districts to vote against Obaseki. But in 2020, they presented him to Edo State people and called him light and messiah. So you can see that the inconsistency was both ways - i.e. from both Oshiomhole and Dan Orbih. The only way that Edo people could have actually been adjudged to have made an intelligent choice was to have rejected both Obaseki and Iyamu since those presenting them in 2020 had also both demonized them in 2016.


In 2003 election, Lucky Igbinedion was seeking re-election and in one of the campaigns, his father, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, had the guts to openly declare that he knew that his son had failed woefully in his first term but that those contesting against him in other parties were wasting their time as he had paid for his son's eight years as Edo State Governor hence his first term failure would not cost him his second term. Guess what Edo people did in response! They voted overwhelmingly for Lucky Igbinedion once again. So how do you reconcile this with the claim that Edo people hate being dictated to? That was the greatest insult any politician ever dished out to Edo people but they swallowed it. At least Tinubu only aired his opinion by way of advice as against Lucky's father who told Edo people that he didn't need their votes to put his son in office both in 1999 and 2003. Which was worse between the two?

You obviously didn't follow the issues. What later turned Wike against Obaseki was an issue of principle. Wike didn't demand any loyalty to himself from Obaseki, rather loyalty to the Southern governors agreement which Obaseki signed together with all the other Southern governors about the ban on open grazing which was believed to be the means by which Fulani terrorists were being bred in the South. After agreeing with the other governors to ban open grazing by Fulani herdsmen, Obaseki would later go visiting Buhari in Aso Rock asking him to provide funds for Edo State to build ranches through which Fulani herdsmen would be allowed portions of land in Edo State for 'cattle rearing'. It was after watching Obaseki on TV discuss this with Buhari that Wike got infuriated and began to regret ever assisting Obaseki during his travails. He began to understand what Oshiomhole initially was trying to explain to him.

There is no way pdp will retain Edo in 2024, due to obaseki poor performance and fight with Dan Orbih.

It is a don deal. Edo PDP is stewing in the mess it created for itself in a bid to take a shortcut back to Government House in Edo State. They saw a traitor drowning and decided to offer him a life line at the cost of their organic structure thinking they were spitting Oshiomhole and Tinubu. Even Wike who carried matter on his head has been reeling from Obaseki's ingratitude. When they say the enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend, some don't understand it. Here it is.

The reason why it was reversed and agreed by Aburi participants was because the decree in itself was to foster unity by military fiat and it was not ideal and wise. Even Nzeogwu was against it because that was not the way to foster Unity. The states didn't have more autonomy than the regions or collection of provinces under Ironsi. The states lost full autonomy with Gowon's decree and not Ironsi.

Gowon's own broadcast to the Nation on the occasion of his creation of states makes it crystal clear that the creation of those states was inspired by the need to stabilize the country through acceding to the demands for far reaching decentralization of powers to allow the minorities have control over their own affairs as they had been agitating for years. Gowon was himself from a minority within a minority so he understood better hence couldn't but just make centrifugal decrees unlike Ironsi who made centripetal decrees because, being from a majority tribe, didn't care or feel concerned about the legitimate fears of the minorities.
