IRCC says: at least 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 hours total (30 hours per week). 1,560 divided by 30 hours of full time work per week is 52 weeks, which to me is Jan to Dec.

Did you mean jan 2022 to dec 2023 or jan 2023 to dec 2023? Because jan 2022 to dec 2023 is already easily more than 1 year and the person should have no issues.

Her experiences are October 2020- September 2021 and January 2022-December 2023. She said she’s hearing January to January is one year so by implication her work experience isn’t 36 months because it’s not January 2024 yet and she should decline, I told her to hold on. I want to believe the system won’t calculate a wrong thing.

Oct 2020-sept 2021
Jan 2022-dec 2023(present job)
Based off this the system calculated as 36 months and the individual got invited during the last set of draws. Is a year of work experience jan-jan or jan-dec?

PNP draws held during that period. This period there were no draws at all from IRCC except the provinces. During that period you’re referring to IRCC held PNP draws only steadily.

I came to the US as a student in 2021 August, and I graduated in May, 2023. After graduation, I got married to my gf who is an American citizen in June 2023, and she also came to the state where I schooled for postgraduate education, just like me. She graduated a year before me and even though she had a job offer waiting for her in her state, she stayed back to start another work in that state because she wanted to stay with me while I am still a student, and still have a year to round up my program. I started working in July, 2023 as a consultant after graduation, and we now live together. What we did in June 2023 was an official court validated wedding with our families joining via zoom. It was just me and her and the officiating pastor. However, her family owns a church in her state and that is where almost all her family lives and we will be having a church wedding there in December 2024, and then a reception to follow, and I want my mother to be attending the ceremony (My dad is late). Also, even though my wife wanted me to, I haven’t applied for a green card and I work using my OPT for now. All these are just to give a proper context to everyone. So, my question are the following;

1. How soon enough can I start my mother’s B2 visa application considering appointment date issues?

2. Can she apply and go for the interview early next year, have the visa, and then travel in November next year?

3. Will booking an appointment date of let say March, 2024, which is 10 months in advance of the ceremony, jeopardize her chances of getting the visa?

4. What dates are people able to get currently as I don’t have an idea. I only remember that I had to initiate emergency in 2021 to get a favorable appointment date when I traveled on an F1 visa.

5. Since I am already married and what she’s coming for is our church wedding to honour my wife’s parents (she’s their first child and they are pastors so they want her to have a church wedding where their congregation can witness and bless), what will she say her reason for traveling is?

6. Will using my wife’s name as the sponsor increase her chances?

7. Can my wife file a green card for her while she’s out of the country? Is it necessary and will that be needed?

Your status is legal so you shouldn’t be bothered if you can fill your form accurate and be well put together with your case

Your wife cannot file for your mother, you’re the one who can file for your mother when you’re of status to do so

Chances are individualized, no one can dictate or tell chances, it can only be predicted.

Fill your form in the best way possible and in the most plausible manner and also educate your mom on what to say during the interview.

It was actually at Toronto. US govt have CBP officers stationed at Toronto Pearson airport and some other airports in Canada. Thus after going through immigration at Toronto the flights arrive at domestic terminals in USA

Obtained my Canada Citizenship last week 3 years 5 months after i landed . Don’t listen to those anti japa people , some of their kids have USA citizenship already.
The Canada immigration has changed a bit since I applied in 2019 but if you meet the requirements and have in demand occupation abeg pursue it o. If you can learn French too please do.

Most of what i learnt about express entry was from Nairaland. I found out a certification i did in 2009 qualified for two or more degrees here. I learnt about gift deed here etc. Canada also has its own challenges but it cannot be compared to Nigeria. The quality of life, access to healthcare, peace of mind and amenities etc.

I applied after PPR but before submitting my passport to Canada. Got the visa and then submitted passport to IRCC for COPR/stamping. Two months after getting passport back from IRCC I headed to detroit and had no issues.

Four months later I headed to Chicago and the US CBP officer asked me to follow her to a room and I was grilled lol. They wanted to verify when I became a PR because on my DS 160 I filled that I was not a PR.

No single joy in that Chicago POE 😂 they’re very notorious for this.

Mr too know . I challenge you to point out where i wrote agent should provide fraudulent documents. Documentation entails academic credentials, bank statement, marriage certificate, work id card , payslip , scholarship award letter etc. Many applicants does not know what and what to take to the embassy and a good travel agent can point out those requirements. If i am an agent and you needed to provide those stuffs ..I will ask you to go and provide it because I cannot provide it for you . POINT OUT WHERE I WROTE THAT AGENT WILL PROVIDE FAKE DOCUMENTS.

I don't understand her/ his argument too. So many people have been rejected because of this issue. Even mothers of the residents. They think it is a joke When we shout people should be careful so that whatever decisions they take won't affect the whole family.

I know of a family who used another person as their point of contact instead of their overstaying family member(of course they couldn’t use the person), the embassy linked them to that one who overstayed after they escaped and renewed about once or twice they refused them even refused the two sisters husbands who got their visas before he married the sisters just because of the link, all the family members have been refused repeatedly. They went from Abuja to Lagos to Abuja constant refusals.

I’m even very sure it affects I can’t just be saying stories on a public forum. It affects very very well, if they don’t link it now they’ll link it during future renewal. Even if they fill another point of US contact they will still catch them

At all! Asking how they got their US citizenship is not anyone's business .

All they ask are based on what you filled in your form I.e your economic and family ties here in Nigeria.


You can of course ask their status in the US but not how they got that status.


It is not what many discuss anyways.

The officer knows how they got their status by their pre checks and they usually don’t ask the person they’re interviewing because they already have their answers and yes I can say for a fact that it does affect, if they don’t find out the first time they will find out later.

You may want to check again, I applied for my daughter last month and the issue date was just 6 days from her capture date when I went to pick up.

Visiting visa is not work visa. No recourse to public funds, the rules of your visa doesn’t permit you that.

My daughter and I applied for a visiting visa last year and our interview date is January 2024. The problem is, the passports we used to apply have expired and we have renewed but i dont know how to update the new passport details on the application.

Imagine this people are just reaping off. If we can’t explain we have kids or not and we have property in the form so how do we let them know we have strong ties back home. When I’m the interview they won’t let us say much.

During the interview they’ll ask what they feel should be asked and they usually ask about kids and marriage or spouse.

My sisters medicals was expiring 16th of October, Ircc got in touch with us early august asking if she would be able to land in canada before 16th October or redo another medicals. We decided to take the early landing option. We booked a flight and sent as proof to ircc. They sent passport request afterwards while we sent her passport to Vfs for stamping. Unlucky to us the passport from Ghana didn’t come back till 16th of October which means her medicals has already expired and she can’t come into Canada.

Please gurus in the house
What do you think is the next step to do
I have been trying to contact ircc with calls but no response.

Kenya should have been your best bet not Accra. Redo Medicals and start contacting IRCC back to back. People who use Lagos vfs are those who aren’t in a hurry or have deadlines to meet.
