Kobojunkie:This is an arrant nonsense. I never thought Shagari was more educated or more qualified to lead Nigeria than Zik yet the northern region of Nigeria did not found it fit to vote Zik in 1979. Sectional politics has been with Nigeria and there is no chance in sight it is about to disappear. |
You've got to be kidding. How can you say that the massive corruption/theft/rigging of the PDP administrations of the past 10-12 years are irrelevant as far as corruption goes? Are you willing to overlook massive theft of public funds which was the order of the day during the past 12 years of PDP rule simply because you think Buhari became a General because of nepotism? It does not add up. I suspect you do not support any of the candidates possibly because of your unapologetic stance that Nigeria must be broken up so that you can have your Biafra. Well, I have news for you - most of us here in Nigeria do not share that view. As a person who believes in democracy, you know what that means. Truly, even if you had your Biafra, constant war would be the order of the day and we'll ultimately have to come to your rescue by reabsorbing you again.
Haba Ndu!!! The acts of massive corruption/theft/rigging were rooted in our society since southern and northern protectorates gained independence in 1960. Do you not think it is being preposterous to dump the corruption/theft/rigging ways of Nigeria on 12 years of PDP rule? When did you become a soothsayer? Please tell me what will happen on January 1, 2012. If you can not predict the future occurrence, I suggest you stay away from Biafra and its wars. I guess common sense is no longer common. |
Kobojunkie:It all depends what you meant by educated. If Buahri’s age is something that should be factored as one of the variables in education process , I say probably yes but not in my dreams. Again, if ethnic and political nepotism did not play huge part in Nigeria of 60s, Buhari should not have been a Nigerian military officer. Simply, a pig is a pig regardless of baths. |
I accuse nairalanders who are salivating because of a misguided interview allegedly accredited to Alhaji Shettima Ali Monguno of hypocrisy. Many Igbo sons and daughters have long criticized the political posturing of Ohanaeze in endorsing GEJ yet there was no commendation to those Igbo extractions from this bunch of haters. I should remind Ali Monguno that the unity of Nigeria existed only in the figment of his imagination. Again, Ndigbo do not cow-tow politically or otherwise. |
Anenih should be prosecuted for endangering the lives of citizens, vigilanteism, and other assorted crimes. Does he have a license to carry a deadly weapon and shoot the same? Kudos to the policemen who did their jobs this time around.
No, he should not be prosecuted because he is privileged to carry a gun. I hope you should understand the Nigeria shall become the pride of Africa as it walks into positive humanity as long as privileged few people are secured. In my book, Nigeria is one of the worst dysfunctional societies known to mankind. Honestly as much as I am not thrilled by the bravado of Anenih because of his position in the society, I can not regard his action as vigilantism. In a good number of civilized societies, individuals, not privilege ones, are granted the permit to carry concealed weapons and allowed to fend off armed attackers in a certain situation. Brazen acts of armed rubbery are rare in such society because an innocent looking bystander could be armed to the hip. |
EzeUche:This is typical Nigeria. The state is a funny contraption. |
In the past 10years, which of the major candidates can you not pin any accusation of corruption on? I submit to you that the answer is Buhari and not GEJ. Which of the major candidates would you say can do the most to reduce corruption in Nigeria? Buhari again.
Ndu, your boy Buhari should not have been a secondary school teacher talk less an army officer. Hyena does not change its spots. In my book, the past 10 years are irrelevant as corruption goes. |
The timing and the place of alleged response in Hausa language by Buhari to news reporters are wrong. It is strictly ethnic baiting as nairaland would say. Buhari has been campaigning around the country and responding to news reporter's question in a disjointed English language but Hausa language. Why now and at the polling station? |
@Face, too bad the electorate is not blinded by political sophistication gone awry resulting in inability to look to the future and continue living in the past. The candidate with the best ability to reduce corruption in our society should be your yardstick, instead of all the academic refuse without practical value which you spewed up there. Have you been accredited? Are you going to vote?
Nobody is more corrupt in a given society than a man or woman who rode on the back of ethnic and political nepotism to slightest of relevance. |
Alj Uche:You are being more than a fool for posting this nonsense. It is only in a cesspit such as Nigeria that a mere noble prize laureate could not be subjected to any form of criticisms. |
Its about time you discarded this idea of disintegrating Nigeria. We are moving forward with or without you, we are conducting the freest elections to date, with or without you, and Insha Allah, we shall become the pride of Africa once again. Why would anyone not embrace progress, a force that positively moves humanity?. Let me guess - you do not plan to vote today. Your self disenfranchisement is a contributing factor to the abbysmal state of affairs in Enugu.
Ndu, you have really disappointed me. I know you are better than this ridiculous postulation. When did conduction of mere election of any sort become a measure of progress in humanity? Well, I hope your Nigeria becomes the pride of Africa but such honor should go to the countries that have already conducted universally acclaimed free election on the continent for more than thrice. Contrary to the figment of your imagination, when compared with other former regional capital cities, Enugu remains above the line of abysmal state of affair. If you are really upbeat with the current practical joke called election in Nigeria, there should be a need to appreciate my disenfranchisement as a protest vote or lack thereof and then do something about it. Unfortunately as the case with anything Nigeria, you have chosen to move wrongly forward without the dissenters. ![]() |
A minor being detained for throwing sachet of water is a dishonor to the so-called democracy. Yet airheads in Nigeria with the urging of the colonial masters will continue to tell tales of nascent democracy in the British contraption called Nigeria. |
The person who uploaded this video should be arrested and flogged before being prosecuted for floating the order of IGP not to bring cell phone or camera to the polling stations. I do not know what to make of any code against rigging of election in Nigeria. However, the act of election rigging is a political issue. I can not encourage myself to berate the ladies in the alleged rigging video for assisting election process in the jungle called Nigeria when heinous crime of fiscal rascality and crude oil bunkering are daily occurrence in the offices of privileged Nigerians. If I should be in position to deal ruthlessly with people who have committed serious crimes in Nigeria, these ladies in video would not make my list. My advice to those Nigerians who intend to crack their voices and split their heads about election malpractices in Nigeria is to consider the idea of disintegration of the cesspit called Nigeria. |
Alj Uche:He will win in southwest geopolitical zone if he survived ACN presidential primary. Last I check though, southwest geopolitical zone does not constitute Nigeria. |
Kobojunkie:Where did you think INEC get 19.8 million registered voters for north-west geopolitical zone? Nigerians always exhume buried corpse from the feet. An action reserved for a confused interloper. |
@POST Whosoever believed that election is free and fair remains a drooling fool. Is it not the same voting pattern in Katsina State where CPC won? I guess balanced journalism could save you political headache. |
Any ethnic group that accepted Gowon in 1966 as the supreme commander of Nigerian armed forces and matched in measured steps to prosecute a war against Biafra shall forever remain a debtor to morality. |
Desola:There is no doubt you are an emotionally disturbed human being. I should add that you are also ill-educated. Please inform the local library where you read the civil war was between Nigeria and Igbo to remove the book from readership. The war was between Nigeria and Biafra. In scheme of things during the war, Yoruba carried fair share of the load. It is not out of context to point toward Yoruba as one of major prosecutors of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war. Ibadan was the capital of western region of Nigeria and remains the dirtiest regional and state capital till date. I have also visited Abeokuta, Ikeja, Osogbo, Ado Ekiti and Akure there is no sight of cleanness in these capital cities. |
I beg the riffraff to stop soiling Awolowo’s name as a result of emotional intoxication. Any drooling fool could resourcefully prophesize that any person from one of the numerous ethnic groups in Nigeria would one day become president as long as Nigeria remains united. |
Desola:If you are not a compound dunce, you must be blind. The forum handle of the original poster sounded Yoruba and the title denigrated Ndigbo at best. Yet you have the effrontery to spew this crap about Ndigbo. If you are faithful to yourself, you should have directed the ill-informed anger to original poster of the thread. |
Nigerians talk about democracy and still do not know how the system of government works. It is about majority and political support. Also, it is winner takes-all atmosphere. In 1999 general election, the SW was not involved in the making of the majority party in NASS and rightfully had no say about who became either Senate president or Speaker of the house. It could be the repeat of 1999 if the SW struck out again this time around. There is no way on earth ACN will produce either senate president, house speaker, deputy senate or deputy speaker. The atmosphere in NASS will be turned into horse trade franzy the moment the elections are over. Most of the elected members, especially from the minority parties, will attempt to carve political relevance for them selves by seeking favor from the majority party. |
@POST Lt JC Ojukwu should have kept his mouth shut on this issue because he blew it wide open wrongly. Politics is not about name or friendship. I am not voting for GEJ and certainly not for Buhari. Lt JC Ojukwu would have been shot to death in 1966 by Buhari if the later was able get to Ojukwu before the escape to eastern region. It is an insult to Ndigbo for JC Ojukwu to insinuate that Ndigbo are excited merely by the name of Goodluck and totally forgot that the same Ndigbo voted for the PDP candidates when GEJ was not even a factor. It is unfortunate that a person of JC Ojukwu caliber has fallen for this nonsensical crap, thus “Ohaneze has foreclosed the chances of the South-East producing the president of the country in the next 20 years”. If other regions refused to cooperate with south-east geopolitical zone, there shall never be a president in Nigeria because the constitution mandated that candidate must win a certain percentage of vote cast in a particular zone. Should I remind JC Ojukwu that Nigeria has not been led by Igbo person at helms of its affairs since the death of Aguiyi Ironsi. If JC Ojukwu has noticed mass death in Igboland because of lack of Nigerian presidency from that section of the world, I honestly never noticed. Why must Ndigbo extend political friendship to Yoruba when there were instances of uncountable political transgressions against Ndigbo since 1951 carpet-crossing? I guess JC Ojukwu must be completely doomed to slumber in 1966 he missed the wanton corruption perpetrated by the government under Balewa. No wonder his mates failed to inform him about the immanent coup of 1966. Corruption in Nigeria did not take root during GEJ watch but had been around since Nigerian independence. Buhari has been in authority of power in Nigeria with its corruption more than GEJ. |
@POST This is one of the most ill-informed threads about Awolowo I have ever read. It ranked up there with loads of fallacies about building of Lagos by Awolowo. The facts about the dates and what Awolowo represented to the region were also colossally wrong. |
@POST Nobody destroyed Ribadu’s candidature because he did not have one in the first place. I can not believe the fact that most are Nigerians are so dumb not to discern the questionable character Nuhu Ribadu exudes. I have said without numbers that Nuhu Ribadu is a human fraud just like most of them from northern region of Nigeria who rode to national limelight on the back of nepotism. |
Zoning in PDP is dead. The positions in the NASS shall be determined by political support to the party through the elected number of representatives as well as political horse trade. South west geopolitical zone should look up to ACN which will constitute the opposition party for relevant office in NASS. This is a new NASS and all positions are contestable. David Mark is likely will not be the Senate President when the new NASS convenes. |
@POSTER You are not ashamed to start a thread that depicts political vendetta and wanton display of power drunkenness by Ohakim. Do you realize that Ohakim can not remain governor of Imo State forever? |
jason123:There was no instance in my post that suggested anybody gives a hoot about either Yoruba voting pattern or any ethnic group’s voting pattern. If you are not as dubious as Orikinla, you should be much more worried about the idiocy that spurred the original poster to start a goofy thread than grow insane about the responds. I responded to the context of the post and had no intentions to demystify the ethnic identity of the poster. |
I'd appreciate if you would back up the claim in blue text above with some specifics - I mean verifiable specifics and not some made-up conjecture. What specifically was Buhari's contribution between 1966 -1982, or would you like to revise your timeline?
Mohamadu Buhari was among the young lieutenants who stood among the bloody crowd of Islamic radicals that massacred people of non-northern region of Nigeria origins in 1966. He was one of the participants in the northern region during the military purge of July 29, 1966 which resulted in massacre of innocent civilians. I do not have photographs to show you but believe my educative conjecture. |
@POST I would have been hellishly worried if the track record of so-called free education in western region is a replica of church sermon. It is only a foolish Igbo person who would have audacity to indentify with an obscure and tribal political party such as ACN. ACN is as good as AD and will stay as a political party until PDP fields Yoruba extraction as presidential candidate. Since this has been evidenced during the past elections, I shall humbly conclude that ACN will remain a tribal and sectional party for a very long time because no Yoruba extraction will be a running mate in PDP talk less of presidential flag bearer. |

Most people do not care about your vote pattern to be very honest. So stop insulting other ethnic groups and insult the poster who is igbo or ijaw or whatever.
