Abagworo: Abuja -

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has said , yesterday, that no life was lost in Kano during the recent political violence in the state. A statement from Mr Yushau Shuaib, the head of the media in NEMA, said the state’s Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Dan-Azumi Doma, clarified the situation when he received the special presidential committee on the plight of displaced people as a result of the violence. The statement, however, said that some properties were destroyed while some people sustained injuries during the crisis, ” He added that from the preliminary reports by response agencies, the crises were neither religious nor ethnic.
What an arrant nonsense. This attempted charade from the so-called National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, is asinine.

Must it take the lost of lives and ethnic or religious induced mayhem from the northern region for the state’s Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Dan-Azumi Doma and personals of NEMA to grasp the gravity of the madness? The senseless riot which erupted after conclusion of presidential election in the northern region of Nigeria must be condemned with strongest of the terms.

The monsters in the northern region of Nigeria that seemed to rear their ugly heads on slightest change in the direction of wind were created by the British, Southerners and the so-called Christians from the northern region of Nigeria. We were provided the opportunity in 1966 to nib the monster in the bud but the chance was lost on the platter of tribalism.

I guess the solution should, as inevitably as it may sound, rest on armed struggle or equal amount of animalistic tendencies from southern region of Nigeria. If the northerners appear to be drunk, the southerners should equally appear to be crazy. It is very silly to continue to preach the nonsensical and unfounded level of education in the south to calm the nerves down.
Politics › Re: On The Matter Of The 2011 Presidential Elections-Professor Mobolaji E.Aluko by Dede1(m): 2:51pm On Apr 22, 2011
@ Dis Guy, reindeer , ekt_bear

Look pals, I had liked to call a spade a spade. If the learned professor enjoys the play of tribal jokes, he can have his thrills but it is foolhardy on the part of the professor to lecture us to stay above ethnic fray.

The primes of the article repeatedly emphasized the vote for GEJ by certain group of people because of middle name or certain region. I guess the professor failed to adequately represent his academic title in which he deliberately avoided the voting pattern of group of people whose names are mostly Ebel(r)echukwu or Azikiwe. Since the inception of PDP, SE had overwhelmingly voted for presidential candidate of PDP whether the middle name of the flag bearer was Aremu, Musa or Ebele.

When SW decided to vote for chosen son of the soil in 1999, SE voted PDP and the candidate’s name or tribe was not Igbo. In 2003 when SW realized that the previously rejected son of soil could stay at Aso Rock for another term, the zone decided to vote based on tribal sentiments yet the deluded author kept mute. In 2007 the SW almost boycotted the election because no son of the soil was among the contending political party flag bearers. Yet the learned professor did not find it fit to engage in his childish insinuation of tribal binge.

I can not still fathom what gave Aluko the effrontery to slight the people of SE when he remotely engaged in such disingenuous act of ethnic baiting with an article bereft of any historical relevance. Any wise person would have expected a man who sat on the certain apex of knowledge to come up with article full of praises for a region that showed rare political dynamism by staying above tribal shenanigans through the cast of their vote for PDP’s presidential candidates whither their names were Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani or Ijo. Instead, the professor found academic potentiate in melancholic prank in names such as Elelechukwu, Eberechukwu or Azikiwe.
Politics › Re: Who Voted For This Man? by Dede1(m): 12:32pm On Apr 22, 2011
If Nigeria society is not dysfunctional to the point of animalistic tendencies, there should not have been a riot after the election. One should thread very carefully while apportioning blames to the principals during Nigerian presidential election.

If the incumbent had ordered for tight security during and after the election, such move would have been interpreted by the opponents as a brazen machination to intimidate voters and a sure form to rig the election.

I must also say that it is out of character for presidential candidates to speak repeatedly about the need for people to riot if the election was rigged during the electioneering campaign. It is a culpable behavior for presidential candidates to indulge in silly and incendiary speeches to crowds that are not capable of sieving the seeds from the chaff.

The riot in the northern region of Nigeria since the conclusion of the presidential election is an aberration and condemnable too. It reeks of tribal agenda devoid of any patriotic pattern. When Yar Adua won the election amidst the worst rigging in the history of electoral contest in Nigeria, the ethnic bigots in the northern region of Nigeria did not see fit to engage in wanton destruction of lives and properties.

In fact, sometimes the truth must be said about the state of the colonial contraption called Nigeria. If most southern Nigerians were able to see the vision Biafrans saw in 1966, this despicable south-north socio-political dichotomy should have been avoided.

I can not believe some of the so-called learned Nigerians still dwell in ethnic drivels. It is an unnecessary act of stupidity and disingenuous on the part of author to inject ethnic plight to the essay. The inclusion of “likeable Otuoke son with Ogbia-Ijaw name like Ebele (that can be confused with Ebel(r)echukwu and nickname Azikwe being the man to vote for, he was a shoo-in”

I am quite sure that Bolaji Aluko failed to inform us the real middle name of Goodluck Jonathan and how such name played with Ibibio, Ogoni, Annang, Efik or Ejagam who voted for Goodluck Jonathan.

Few cretins on this board had proven beyond reasonable doubts that stupidity is an inherit trait. If not, what could have been responsible for these illogical and near-madness posts about SW voting pattern as clever? One of the trolls even claimed happiness that SW voted out crocks in PDP but the fool forgot who elected them in the first place.

The word, bias, could be associated with a person or group of persons whose voting pattern is clearly tailored towards the ethnic identity of the flag bearer of a major political party. SW, undoubtedly, had voted for any party or coalition of parties that spotted the son of the soil as presidential candidate as recently as1999. I remembered AD in 1999 which ceased to exist in 2003 when the son of soil sat at helms of PDP-controlled federal government then morphed into ACN when the son of soil was no longer the flag bearer for PDP. We shall watch what happens when presidential candidate for PDP is chosen from SW. If this happens, there is no doubt that ACN shall cease to exist as a political party in Nigeria.

Yet some nitwits from the SW would want us to believe the geopolitical region is politically savvy. I guess politics born out of ethnic bias could be regarded as savvy. Sometimes I can not stop laughing at those who apparently tried to sit historical fact on its head.

Any candidate to win must win a portion of votes from regions other than theirs in addition. So, sectional politics will not work for any group. If you don't like it, go fight the Electoral laws that make it so.
Sometimes you come across as individual with organize social order above your shoulders but further examination reveals you are below average.

Talking about Nigeria of yesteryears and today including your empty twist such as “legal requirements to be met for any candidate to be declared leader. Any candidate to win must win a portion of votes from regions other than theirs in addition”, I guess you have forgotten about Richard Akinjide as his 2/3 of 19 majority plea during electioneering legal contest.

Do you leave in the cave not to know that each candidate vying to hold the political mantle of Nigeria must win certain percentage of votes cast in each state not even geopolitical zone?

What difference does electoral laws make when a region has perennially swore not to vote for a particular candidate because of ethnicity and religion? In the election of 1979,  Ndigbo, at least, made Shagari appeared electable but same can not be said about northern region of Nigeria in respect to Zik except Plateau State.
