I will no join anyone to abuse GEJ. It is absolutely not necessary. At the same time I feel he has grossly disappointed. He should please tell Nigerians that he will not seek a second term.

If you truly know about SW you will know also that GEJ stands no chance whatsoever unless of course he impresses in the 2 years that he has left. Faseun is not a fool to work against himself in SW by teaming up with GEJ. Let GEJ deliver the dividends and he wont need to team with anyone. SW people are the most sophisticated voters in this country.
Politics › Re: UPN Pays N1M To INEC For Registration by Dee60: 2:15pm On May 01, 2013
Smart guys. They know that SW does not want any thing that sounds like PDP, and are not too sure yet about ACN. UPN to the rescue. Why not?
Business › Re: Access Bank Stealing Money From Customers' Accounts by Dee60: 3:21pm On Apr 30, 2013
Take your protest to your branch. If not satisfied, scream up a bit more. I do not know about this and also do not have any account with Access Bank, but I do know there is 'corporate stealing' going on in some quarters, like the telecoms companies. If everyone were to complain the whole of NL would not be able to accommodate those!

Politics › Re: Nigeria Saves N4.2trn On Manufactured-Goods Importation In 2012 - Aganga by Dee60: 9:05am On Apr 29, 2013
It appears we still have a major challenge with information gathering, reporting in Nigeria. How then do we manage our economy?

It is just so sad when top government officers role out figures that are just too suspect!

Interesting also that government administrations that do nothing quickly lay claim to merits that are solely private sector-driven!
Politics › Re: Nigeria Saves N4.2trn On Manufactured-Goods Importation In 2012 - Aganga by Dee60: 8:58am On Apr 29, 2013
Economics of deceit? If import has reduced so much, why is there still so much pressure on the Naira?

Has he factored in the increase in fuel importation that has triggered large payments of fuel subsidies?

If at all non-oil import has reduced, is this because of increase in local production? If yes, where are the stats on that?
Otherwise, the minister and his colleagues may just be pretending not to understand the subtle recession in the economy that has affected consumption. Nigerians have moved from 1-0-1 to 0-0-1 pattern of consumption because incomes have dropped, and naturally imports will drop in a predominantly import-based economy!

Is this why they pushed out a sound technocrat like Remi Babalola so that they can dole out half-baked figures like this?

No wonder, our ministers run away from public debates on issues - They seem to lack balanced reporting!

Education › Re: Nigeria To Create Six ‘mega Universities’ by Dee60: 11:19am On Apr 26, 2013
HAH: Just a way of creating dichotomy between to have and have not
Spot on.

Clueless idea from a wasteful administration. America is talking about a project they termed 'No Child Should be left behind' whereas Nigeria is coming up with 'Most Children should be left behind'!

Brainless, clueless idea from politicians who cannot stop devising ways to milk and kill the country!
Education › Re: Nigeria To Create Six ‘mega Universities’ by Dee60: 11:14am On Apr 26, 2013
Another carrot - and see how people have started mentioning names. 'It must be me' and 'winner takes all attitude'!

What is a mega university when lecturers are poorly paid and students can hardly write one full sentence correctly? FG should direct its resources elsewhere and start building economically viable schools with enough funding for research.

This new idea sounds like another waste from our most wasteful administration!
Politics › Re: Dire Consequences In Niger-Delta If Jonathan Is Not Re-elected - Presidency by Dee60: 9:16am On Apr 26, 2013
There seems to be a part of the country that always want to assume it is better than others because it has oil and think they should always have preference. This attitude started as a practice and that practice got them a lot of goodies. Now the practice is turning into a culture. This is not how to build a nation. The 'settling' culture may sooner than we think lead to the balkanization of this amalgam!
Politics › Re: Dickson To Amaechi:“If You Want To Be Leader Of Opposition, Go To Opposition” by Dee60: 5:14pm On Apr 25, 2013
All the opportunistic PDP people are busy fighting Amaechi but the real people remain with him. Carry on, Rotimi Amaechi, man of destiny. Their envy cannot stop you. Your performance is stellar and that is what Nigeria needs.

Phones › Re: Saka 'Ported' From Etisalat To MTN: The True Story Emerges by Dee60: 9:44am On Apr 25, 2013
cdz: This is interesting. I was just wondering: why is it okay for Saka to port and wrong for Reuben Abati to do the same if the reason for Saka's action is that MTN pays more than Etisalat? Both cases involve switch of loyalty for personal (at the expense of ethical) gain.

In an effort to justify Saka's action someone on this thread referred to how a Pepsi truck driver was portrayed as drinking Coke in a Coke advert. That's different - he's just a faceless truck driver and not a brand ambassador. Which Pepsi brand ambassador have you seen advertising for Coca Cola? Do you think that Coke couldn't afford to pay them more?

I'm not quite sure of the official ethical position of the advertising profession on Saka's action but I know that as a person of conscience, there comes a time when you have to say no to a bigger pay simply because the offer clashes with your ethics and negates what you hold to be right and good and true. Saka may make money from this move BUT I'm afraid it won't last for long because with this he has shot himself in the foot as a brand.

Think about it: if you own a business and you have a fierce rival, would you rather be the first to employ Saka in your ads or wait for your competitor to use him first so that you can reap maximum second-comer benefits as MTN is doing? We all seem to agree that the smart thing is to do as MTN has done. One more question: while you and your rival in business wait to see who will use Saka first and lose, what will Saka be surviving on? Disloyalty is a serious flaw for any public figure and Saka will have to live with that tag for the rest of his advertising career.

I have always seen adverts as entertainment and nothing more. They never influence my choice of purchase. However, any discerning consumer will understand that the move by MTN is an act of desperation which actually does, in a certain twist of irony, portray Etisalat in good light as a veritable threat to the MTN business. And so if I were to go by adverts in making a choice, I'd choose Etisalat because the crowd will go with MTN on sentiments. I mean, why didn't MTN consider Saka before the porting era?

I am more interested in the dynamics that accurately assign judgments of right and wrong to the actions of men (self included). Saka's action is similar to Abati's: both are cases of a betrayal of trust for personal gains. Saka advertising for MTN is like some Nollywood characters accepting money and advertising a presidential candidate that they cannot in conscience vouch for. That for me is just so low. I mean, there comes a time when moral conscience just has to say NO to money. And until we cross that bridge as Nigerians, there's no point blaming the politicians or anyone who ever stole from us.
I do agree with you. Saka seems to be telling us now that he never believed in Etisalat and his previous messages should not be seen beyond entertainment. The porting to MTN is also an entertainment. MTN playing this under-belly tactics has joined in the entertainment. If you follow the message and you go and port without checking the QUALITY of the service yourself, you will be porting at your own peril! You too would have joined in the drama.

This is not like changing jobs. This is like Arsene Wenger suddenly moving to Chelsea!

I personally do not see anything in that advert beyond the entertainment. Nigeria itself as a country has become a big theatre of absurd dramas...Dont blame Saka, dont blame Abati or Okupe, dont blame oga at the top. They are all entertaining us.

I only pray that someday we will get up to work and start building values again as a people, and that we will confine entertainment to theatres and cinemas.

Saka or no Saka, MTN has to imprive its services before people will port to it! I have enjoyed clarity on Etils and that is fine enough.
