And I never said he blamed the officer personally. Stop twisting my point.

I said the framing itself was provocative. The moment you say, “an African was rejected while Europeans walked in freely,” you are obviously painting South Africa as anti-African, even though the real issue is Africa’s failed continental integration and different visa agreements between states.

South Africa did not invent this system alone. Nigeria also has visa policies, restrictions, and bilateral agreements. So why is South Africa constantly turned into the symbolic villain every time Africa’s integration failures are exposed?

If the discussion was truly just about AU-wide mobility, then the outrage should be directed at African governments collectively for failing to implement it ....not emotionally framing South Africa as preferring Europeans over Africans for applying the exact laws currently in place.
He is within his rights to highlight it as an oddity.
Note that by contrast, all ordinary European passport holders require a visa to enter Nigeria.

Adult men should be with women who are unambiguously grown. Anything other than that is simply weird. You’re absolutely correct.

When a man has to defend himself by saying they technically adults because the legal age is 18, it’s gives the impression that legality is the only thing stopping him.

We wouldn’t vote an 18 year old into the lowest office possible, we wouldn’t enter into business arrangements with them. We wouldn’t go into serious lifelong agreements with them. Why is sex and marriage the exception?

Just masking perversion with legal mumbo jumbo
GBAM!

And it misses the point that if its about legality, there is nothing wrong if any country fixes it at a lower age according to its own legal system. Sudan permits age 10 for marriage for girls, Tanzania, 12 for Hindu and Muslim girls, Philippines permits at puberty for Muslim girls.

If we look at laws alone, we will claim not to be held by the standards of decency which any adult should naturally and intrinsically know.

Lionessza6:
Then he should have made that broader AU argument without packaging it as another “South Africa welcomes Europeans but rejects Africans” story, because that framing is deliberately provocative and misleading.

South Africa did not single him out for being African. He arrived with an expired visa and was denied entry according to the law ...... the exact same thing that would happen to many South Africans landing in Nigeria or elsewhere with invalid documents.

And yes, visa waivers are deliberate policy decisions. Precisely. Which means the real issue is not a South African immigration officer doing his job, but African governments collectively failing to create AU-wide mobility agreements.

ECOWAS countries negotiated regional movement. SADC countries negotiated regional movement. Europe negotiated Schengen. These things happen through long-term state agreements, reciprocity, border coordination, and political will ....not through emotional speeches after someone’s paperwork was invalid.

So if the current African system is “absurd,” then African governments.....including Nigeria’s ....helped create that absurdity. South Africa alone cannot be turned into the symbolic villain every time continental integration fails.

At the end of the day, existing agreements were honoured, and an expired visa was treated as expired. That is not anti-Africanism. That is immigration law.
He did not for one second blame the immigration officer, I repeat.

Also makes my point. If 13 was the limit we’d find you there as well. No consideration for maturity etc.

Pay dough.

Now we’re marrying and starting families with them too? Silly liar. Always lying .
Even with 18 being considered adult, I am very hesitant about grown men who go after women that young, and by grown men I am referring generally to people in their early thirties and above. Its not just about my personal preference (I cant go near a woman less than 40, or it would be rare) - but intrinsically, for men in the full bloom of adulthood and middle age (30s - 50s), truly an 18 year old should be considered too young. Its weird.

My point is simple: you cannot take the bad actions of some wealthy people or corporations and use that to condemn wealth itself or every billionaire.

That is short or lazy reasoning.

The Bible encourages rich people.

It's the governments job to protect people from being exploited. There are laws that governs wages.

Everyone earns differently. A care helper like you earns wages. A small business owner earns profit. An investor earns returns. A founder’s wealth grows when the company they built becomes more valuable

Billionaires’ wealth is tied to ownership, shares, investments, real estate, companies, and assets.

Their net worth rises or falls based on the value of those assets. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg etc etc. are not collecting billions per month in paychecks.

Elon musk does not have 20billion sitting in his bank. Bayelsaowei you know about investments and assets. It's a shame that you are indulging yourself in this nonsensical talk as who knows who you are, you might be building your wealth.

You people rgument is: Some rich people are greedy, therefore billionaires are bad. That is emotional, not intelligent, that's envy when you acting as if billionaires receive billions of dollars every month like a salary. That is not how wealth works.

Deuteronomy 8:18 says:
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
No one has ever said billionaires are bad simpliciter.

What do you call employing people at just below minimum hours so that you don’t have to pay health insurance as the law requires for all full time employees? Not greed?

What’s the proper way to describe lobbying politicians to reduce regulations so that you don’t have to observe safety rules. Just to save a few bucks while risking the lives of your workers and the communities where your industries are? That’s not greed?

What do you call monopolizing insurance companies and pharmacies and hospitals so that you as an organization can dictate how much an ICU stay costs (millions of dollars for week stay BTW) and the insurance company can’t refuse to pay you because you own it and the Pharmacy can’t charge the patient less for medications because you also own. And the people who regulate the system can’t say jack because you own them too?

benalvino3:
you are confusing condemning greed with condemning wealth itself. We should use the Bible correctly and not use it to push our biased opinions.

The Bible does not say being rich is automatically evil. Bible warn against loving money, oppressing the poor, and trusting in riches instead of God. The position you hold is a failed system.

Many billionaires and wealthy people have created jobs, fund things like hospitals, paid scholarships, supported medical research, disaster relief, food programs, universities, churches, and charities.

That does not mean every billionaire is good, but pretending they only rip off the system is dishonest.
So do us a favour and tell us how they ripped off the system?

The same Bible you quoted also says:

1 Timothy 6:17-18
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth… Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

Notice the Bible does not say command the rich to stop being rich. It just says they should be humble, generous, and do good.

Even Abraham, Job, David, Solomon, Joseph of Arimathea, and others were wealthy. Their wealth was not the sin. The sin is greed, oppression, pride, and refusing to help others.

Proverbs 13:22 says:
A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children.

So the Bible supports building wealth responsibly.

What it condemns is wickedness and selfishness.

Even the passage you quoted in 2 Corinthians was about voluntary generosity among believers, not government-forced welfare or hatred of people who have more.

Paul was encouraging giving from the heart, not teaching jealousy or class warfare (cococandy)

So yes, help the poor. Yes, condemn greedy billionaires. But don’t pretend every wealthy person is evil or that poverty is solved by insulting people who create value, businesses, jobs etc. You don't even believe half of what you are saying.
Good heavens, the Devil quoteth scripture.

I know you think this is a gotcha. And I’m responding to you against my better judgment because I don’t discuss terminations with men on the internet. But seeing as we are talking about teenagers I’ll oblige you. I support terminations in many instances and one of them is in immature mothers. Aka all underage moms. The kinds you and your ilk like.

Statistically most underage moms have adult partners in their 20s and 30s. Such a travesty. Your baby mama should’ve gotten one (or several). Since we don’t know how many times you abused her.
And this is generally the approach of most sane and wise people. Motherhood is not a task for adolescents. The skill set and character attributes required are deep adult stuff.
BusinessRe: South Africa Denied Me Entry Over Expired Visa – BUA Chairman, Abdul Rabiu by DeepSight(m): 4:16pm On May 16
Lionessza6:
His point about Africa needing easier movement between African countries is valid. But then the question becomes: why direct this frustration at a South African immigration officer enforcing existing law instead of at African leaders and policymakers who have failed to implement true continental integration?

As a wealthy and influential businessman, Mr. Rabiu has far greater access to presidents, ministers, AU platforms, and policymakers than ordinary Africans do. If he truly believes Africans should move freely across Africa, then the lobbying should happen in Abuja, at Aso Rock, at the African Union, and within AfCFTA negotiations .... not at a South African airport border post after arriving with an expired visa.

And let us also stop pretending these visa waivers for Europeans appeared out of nowhere. They are based on bilateral agreements, tourism strategy, investment flows, and reciprocity negotiated over many years. South Africa did not wake up one morning and randomly decide “Europeans welcome, Africans rejected.”

Also, the irony is that South Africans themselves still require visas for Nigeria and many other African countries. So if the current system is “absurd,” then African governments collectively created that absurdity together.

Border officials cannot replace failed continental policymaking. Their job is simply to apply the law as it currently exists.
Two simple responses, to the red and to the bold in yours -

1. To the red: he did not take out any frustration on any South African Immigration Officer. In fact he acknowledged his fault in it and specifically said he took responsibility. He is complaining at the exact kind of forum that he should be complaining at.

2. To the bold: Of course we all know why such exemptions exist, and its also the result of deliberate policies made to enhance free trade. This is the reason you have free movement in Europe, free movement in ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) for example. He is simply saying it should also exist at the AU level. And he is saying it at the right forum.
Foreign AffairsRe: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by DeepSight(m): 4:07pm On May 16
Now, basilico, this was the post that triggered the Treaty of Reasonableness. I said I will come back to it. But beyond the direct issues you raise here, the holistic matter still boils down to the apparent backwardness (lower develpment) of the black race/ black countries in the current age, and that matter will be the subject of my response to TV01 in another post, in which I will copy you.

But for direct responses to this, here -

basilico:
North Korea trajectory is unlike any other country in modern history The founder is a deity, his son is a deity and the present grandson one is the holy priest.
It is simply effectively a hereditary absolute monarchy where the monarch is seen as a deity and in that regard is not unique in history. Egyptian pharaohs, Alexander the Great, Roman Emperors, the Emperors of Japan up till the mid twentieth century, the rulers of the Khmer (Cambodia) and the foolish Emperor Bokassa of Central African Republic, are examples.

But this is an aside. What is key about North Korea is the absoluteness of its totalitarianism, period. You should bear in mind that Korea was one country and split post-WW2 via the cold war era Korean War. Thereafter, the USA flooded South Korea with investment, technology and its culture, while North Korea adopted the closed totalitarian disposition of communist states China and Russia.

However this is still a little beside the point, even if it explains the immediate causes. The real point is that the peoples of that part of the world have had a completely different history and development trajectory from the peoples of black Africa. Therefore temporary set backs are not enough to imagine that both started the race from the same line. It would be like asking why African countries are not at a par with China and Japan since both countries had to start developing again post WW2. THAT would fail to take cognizance of the fact that these countries have a deep developed history reaching into antiquity and merely destroying their cities does not erase that at all! The mind has reached a certain form and disposition and that is the real development - physical structures will follow!

Fun fact: The oldest hotel in the world which has been in continuous operation is in Japan and it has been in operation for over one thousand years. Beat that.

Thats deep. So calm down when making comparisons okay?

A contradiction. If a homogeneous society is more likely to develop than one which is not. Why then do you support immigration?
A homogenous society has advantages such as natural patriotism and an easier path to peaceful coexistence and these two factors, peace and patriotism are absolutely indispensable for development.

This is a fact.

Look at Europe. There is a country called England and there is a language called English. German, Germany. Poland, Polish. France, French. Spain, Spanish. Portugal, Portuguese. Italy, Italian. Greece, Greek.

But there is a country called Nigeria and no language called Nigerian.

And we know why.

Because it is a cobbled together entity which has more languages than the whole of Europe put together.

In fact, most European languages are really just dialects of two main sets of languages - the Latin set and the Germanic set. That is how close they are. And yet to achieve the peace and patriotism necessary for development, they have had to battle it out for a millennium.

TV01, basilico, hear this well: development is a path that must be lived and made local in mindset. It is not words on paper that can be photocopied. Institutions and traditions require lived experience. Nothing can substitute it. Not globalization, not the internet and not AI.

Nonetheless this does not mean that non-homogenous societies do not develop, of course they do, simply with more tumult thats all. And we have seen the unique example of America which is a nation of immigrants and has profited massively from the ideas and industry that people from ALL OVER THE WORLD have brought to it. A nation such as America therefore has a unique trajectory and I dare say that it is actually un-American to be anti-immigration because realistically, except native Americans everyone else there can be called an immigrant or the descendant of immigrants. This is, of course not to go so far back in human history that we will have to call even the native Americans immigrants as well.

If the white South Africa produce everything, majority of their customers are the black . That's the area govt needs to look at. The mass population is the economic driver.
South Africans have a higher income per Capita than the rest of Africa, they found systems and structures in place . Are they destroying these systems. For example the judiciary.
There is absolutely no reason black owned businesses and should not be doing well.
A penny for your thoughts.
South Africa is another unique case on account of Apartheid. Even tctrills your co-traveler admitted that its silly to expect black South Africa to emerge developed in 30 years. As I have explained above, they will have to battle their conflicts, internal inconsistencies, prejudices, inequalities and social psychology and melt into an even paste that will permit gradual peace and a sense of oneness sufficient to ground and pursue true development. Not all the advancement of steel and industry brought by the white man can magically do it. It has to be lived.

And there is nothing strange about this. It does not make them savage or inferior. It is just the natural path of all human societies.

You have to bear in mind, finally, that at all ages of time, different societies had different stages of development. Its like a cycle, and so it is not wise to look at one race and laugh them off because at a particular point in the cycle, they are lagging behind. Where were the Caucasians when Persia, Babylon and Egypt ruled the world? Where were Britain and Germany when Rome and Greece ruled (and yet these were people of the same race in the same area? The answer rests in the geography that TV01 so lightly dismisses).

Time and empires are in cycles.

When Europeans found the major cities of meso-America, they recorded that not even the biggest cities of Europe at the time could compare with their splendor and grandeur.

Yet a few factors decided the day. Mainly guns and disease.
