benodic: @ DeepSight Thanks for inviting me to contribute to this discussion. From the ECK perspective, the lower worlds including the Earth, were created to serve as Schools for the maturation of Souls. This rhymes with my long held view of the world as a school. As Souls were sent down to these schools, they were given a curriculum to master. The course of study includes mastering Evil 101 to evil 105 which we classify as passions of the mind. These include: Lust, Anger, Greed, undue Attachment to Material things and finally Vanity. Soul is expected to replace these passions with the Virtues of the Holy Spirit which we know as the ECK. these virtues are : Right Discrimination, Forgiveness, Contentment, Detachment and Humility. once these virtues are fully entrenched in Soul, it develops Divine Love and becomes a clear and pure channel for God's Love in whatever plane of existence it resides. It rises above Evil and goes on to become a Spiritual Master in Its own Right. The trouble I have with this is the very definition of evil - because often that which is described as evil is exactly the way nature itself operates. To use a loose analogy, a lion killing other lions to seize their females and their territory is perfectly natural. Indeed the lion will even kill the cubs of the competing lions as well. Likewise men pillage and murder and rape. How is this evil in the violently competitive setting that nature presents us with. I know many argue that man is a "higher" being and thus should be beyond these, but the truth is that as a "higher" and more intelligent creature, what is wrong with man simply devising "higher and more intelligent" methods of accomplishing the same ends - which is exactly what man has done? Don't you think that there is a chance that all the talk about love and mercy and peace and beauty is simply wishful thinking - and that strength is the prime factor being tested in the school of life? |

LordReed: I agree. We have to close our eyes to many of the horrors that take place around us to maintain our grasp on sanity. I remember how I was introduced to the stark reality of how brutal the natural world is while at the same time unleashing my own brutality on my environment but our managed perception of the world allowed me to separate my brutality and make me think I am special, not knowing I am a cog in the vast machinery of brutality. This is so perfectly true. And one thing I have always said is that it really throws up serious questions on the true nature of morality. Because even for one such as myself who argues for moral objectivity, it remains still evident that there is a serious argument that given the nature of nature, nature and the universe may just have no issues whatsoever with a man who kills off other men for the purpose of advancing his best self-interests. Even if that self interest is simply knacking their wives. In fact that is the sort of thing nature appears to lean towards. |

Yes.
What other kind of answer do you want? Do you want me to say no?
Going back and forth with you is really pointless, you just want to hear yourself rant and argue.. Well you have made yourself clear now, and its better because it is at least consistent. The only problem I have with this is that allowing everyone to wear what their faith prescribes will simply turn the Force into a laughable circus. Thanks for being clear though, good morning. |

NGpatriot: Even if you are not a Christian, what are you and what kind of allowance do you want?
Stop being deceptive.. You are the one being deceptive here because its not about me. I am just a single individual among over 200 million, so you cant be asking me "what I want" as though the appropriate way to make policy is by catering to the desires of every individual in a matter like this. I am non religious by the way. The point remains that if indeed this is about diversity, then provisions should be made for all religious outfits, not just for one. Simple. And you need to answer the question on traditional religious outfits too. Avoiding it the way you did only shows you up as dishonest. |

They said its optional. Still bad in my view, unless similar options are made for all other religious leanings. Which will reduce the force to a circus. |

NGpatriot: Ok, do you want to wear your white Christian robe too? If yes, lobby the police commission for that allowance if it makes sense to you. Why do they have to lobby? It should be automatic once such a policy is being made if indeed as you say, it is to cater to diversity. But you know the truth. This is not about diversity. This is about making provision for Islam, simple. |

NGpatriot: You got it all backward, such allowances are made in multi-faceted societies and the fact that Muslims and other religious groups are part of their societies necessitated such changes based on their constitutional allowances.
Our constitution also made constitutional allowances for such polices. Simple question - will you therefore support such allowances being made for ALL other religious groups including African traditional religions? |

NGpatriot: Ode oponu lawyer, he actually made the government's point and the need to be neutral. I dont know how you guys reason up side down. If neutrality is the point, then the Force should be either silent on the matter or permit ALL religious outfits in addition to the uniform. Provision should therefore be made for the preferences of EVERY other religion including traditional religions. It is not hard to see how this will reduce the outlook of the Force into that of a circus. This is why it is best to avoid the subject entirely by maintaining a strict uniform and not making provisions for any particular religion. If you do so, you must make provision for all. Let me ask you, just as Adegboruwa pointed out, what will be your response if adherents of the Celestial Church of Christ say they wish to go bare footed while working? |

doggedfighter: Personally, I will say humans aren't monogamous.
I think it works for some people but most of us aren't suited for monogamy. Just look at the rates of sexual affairs amongst married people, paternity fraud etc.
Most of us just go into these monogamous relationships because it's what society approves of.
Open relationships, or just casual dating would actually suit most people but we would rather be hypocritical about it
Truth is, we are all polyamorous. The difference is just in to what degree, level and choices. Gbam: but the problem though, is the jealous territoriality that comes with emotional investment. This too is natural and contradicts the "polyamorous" thing. If you really love someone, you would be loathe to share them with another. Well, mostly. A rare few dont mind or can manage it. |

Just like the Ukraine conflict (where I have made enemies both offline and online), I try to look at the bigger picture. Just like in forex trading you have to do a historical (top down) analysis to understand the present.
I have explained time and time again that Nigeria is driving on auto pilot. The economy and every other thing follows the direction of the global wind. Ironically the only leaders that thought of a developmental agenda were Abacha with his vision 2020 and Obasanjo with his economic team. Even though the recommendations were never implemented, at least the plan was put on paper. This is the reason I get annoyed when people start campaigning and fighting for Tinubu, Atiku, et al. What is their developmental agenda for the country, what time frame and how?
Buhari is bad, I agree. Jonathan was also terrible. Ironically, personally my fortune was not changed by one regime or the other. I survive by looking for solutions instead of just complaining and being negative. I get annoyed when all people do is complain, scream on media (both social and otherwise) and blame everyone and everybody, without proffering solutions. What we should be discussing is what we can do to improve the situation. How are we preparing for the worst case scenario to save ourselves and our families. We can scream as loud as we can and insult each other till thy kingdom come, Buhari and his family will be safe and in luxury. Tinubu, Atiku, Okorocha are all secure. Very well said bro, I feel you. |

wirinet: Inflation is a universal phenomen in an economy with increasing population but stagnated or reducing production. Let's take nigeria for example. Our population rate is 2.5%. That means for an estimate of 200 million our population increases by 5 million every year (and I am not even compounding yet). In 5 years it would have increased by over 30 million. Meanwhile the revenue to cater for these increasing population remains stagnant at best. So what do you think would happen to inflation?
A bag of cement at N2,500 under 12% inflation rate would be N4,400 after 5 years. Remember inflation rate is compounded. The problem I have with what you have been saying is that you have been trying to dismiss the sort of inflation we have experienced from the onset of this administration as nothing out of the ordinary. That, with respect is simply not the case: the change since 2015 has been nothing short of extraordinary. And there are definite policies of this administration which account for it. |

wirinet: Believe me the governments had been defending the naira in wrong way for decades and it will eventually come crashing down.
How does the Nigeria governments (and when I say governments I mean all previous governments from IBB) defend the naira. They defend the naira by CBN pumping more dollars into the market. Where do CBN get the dollars? From sales of crude oil. So what do you expect would happen if and when oil prices crash, we are unable to sell our oil or our reserves run out. (I shudder to think how we will survive if oil runs out or a WW3 break out and international shipping is suspended). They could have done a better job on it: the attitude seems to have been that it's best to allow the naira to fall. It's not best because the implications and complex consequences are too substantial. |

wirinet: Having said that, it's disingenuous to suggest that Buhari is responsible for Nigeria's inflation rate. Nigeria,s inflation rate had hovered between 9% to 12% per annum for decades. And unless we start producing more goods for the same quantity of money in circulation, inflation will continue to accelerate. We need to simply reduced our over dependence on oil and our insane taste for imported goods and services. I dont know what the NBS and other statisticians may have in their books but the street knows as well as I do that there has been a marked and significant change in cost of living - a dramatic and beastly change in fact - since 2015 - same thing also goes for the exchange rate which has a knock-on effect on every other thing when you live in an import dependent economy and yes, the President is responsible for that because managing the economy is part of his job description: the naira could have been better defended. |

It is recommended to fast a great deal in the month of Sha’ban.
Muslim (1156) narrated that Abu Salamah said: “I asked ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the fasting of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and she said: ‘He used to fast until we thought that he would always fast, then he would not fast until we thought that he would always not fast, but I never saw him fast in any month more than he fasted in Sha’ban. He used to fast all of Sha’ban, and he used to fast all of Sha’ban apart from a few days.’”
Please us take the opportunity of this month by fasting in it. We pray Allah make us witness Ramadan in good health and sound faith Lukgaf where is the scholarly exposition on honor killings which you promised. |

He has allowed us many things that were forbidden according to previously-revealed laws. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you…” [al-Baqarah 2:185]
Hence all kinds of food from the sea are permissible, whether they are plants or animals, alive or dead. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Lawful to you is (the pursuit of) water-game and its use for food – for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel…” [al-Maidah 5:96].
