Political Activist, Timi Frank, has called on a former Governor Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to speak up in defence of the Yoruba race now under fierce attacks by herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers.

This happened even as the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, berated President Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu, over the recent crisis in Oyo State as well as across the Southwest and other regions of Nigeria.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, on Monday, also decried the spate of insecurity in the country, especially in the South West, saying that Buhari and Tinubu should be held responsible for the crises.

He urged the APC leader to break his silence and speak up against the attacks in his region, saying his continued silence does not portray him as a leader who has the interest of his people at heart.

He said: “The crisis in the South-West should be solely blamed on Tinubu who foisted Buhari on Nigerians and especially on the Southwest.

“How can Tinubu continue to keep mute over the attacks in Oyo state and other Southwest states?

“Tinubu is a leader of the Yorubas in Southwest. Asiwaju cannot be silent over matters involving threats to life, peace and security of his people. 

"His continued silence has become too loud, especially owing to the fact that he was the major influence and the reason the Yorubas voted massively for Buhari in 2015.

"Tinubu's silence shows he is only protecting his business interests in the South-West as well as protecting his political ambition.

“He does not want to shatter his relationship with Buhari which in turn, by his calculation, would attract the President's nod for him to have a shot at the presidency come 2023.

"But as a leader of the region, Tinubu should speak against the attacks against his people and not be driven by his selfish 2023 presidential ambition."

The Bayelsa-born activist added: “Nigeria is more divided under Buhari than it has ever been before. Buhari's government has polarised the country across religious and ethnic lines.

"This government is so clueless and incompetent that it recognises and shows a soft hand on terrorist groups like Boko Haram, killer herdsmen and bandits, but sadly mete out cruelty on innocent and patriotic Nigerians.

"Look at the number of security personnel it sent to wickedly dehumanise and arrest peaceful #EndsSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.

“Yet, the Buhari government can't send a similar proportion of law enforcement agencies after killer herdsmen. 

“Instead, the President is emboldening the terrorist groups with his direct and indirect support, even against the South-West region and the likes of Tinubu have kept silent while their people suffer."

Frank, however, urged all Nigerians and especially the leaders in the South-West to "unite and fight this common enemy."

He urged other regions to also join in the fight, warning that if the trend is allowed to fester, that sooner or later, the crisis of insecurity may grow out of proportion in every region of the country.

Nigeria starting another problem,why not increase the federal police n reorganize it or approve state police n regulate them properly for effective results than coming up with this pretence that would likely fade out in the nearest future or even compound the security problems in the country, it's so amazing how every concept turns to something else once it get to Nigeria.

I respect Tinubu alot...fact still remains that Tinubu will come out of all this bricks unharmed..there is a reason why he's called the jagaban...he's the iroko..the only politician with integrity i can think of....FFK can keep dreaming but Tinubu will surely emerge the president of Nigeria come 2023 and that's an assurance.

Anytime the heat gets on the north they would quickly find means of playing with the intelligence of the other parts of the country,if Gumi also truly believe in peaceful coexistence be then he should be telling his northern Muslim brothers stop imposing their views n agenda on others but always create room for the aspirations n interests of others as they pursue their Islamic religion eg there should be designated areas in kano, kaduna or elsewhere under shari'a where non Muslims can do their business in peace instead of threatening everyone forcefully, this is the best opportunity to really redefine nigeria for good,let the heat be maintained until eventually we can get to talk n set the right standards for ourselves.

The herdsmen problem in the country is festering for the singular reason of insincerity,bias n indecisiveness on the part of buhari ,very simple what buhari should do is to get the northern states with vast good vegetation lands such as Nigeria,kogi,kano,kaduna,gombe,bauchi,adamawa,etc,grant repayable loans to them n assist them in establishing large ranches/grazing reserves, while the states draft the rules regulating the use of the ranches/grazing reserves then herdsmen/users can use the ranches/grazing reserves for fees n in compliance with the rules, eventually the loans would be repaid n as the livestock business which shall be organized booms most states would voluntarily key into the programme,I make this suggestions based on the facts that,the fulanis are indegenous people of the north,the northern states has more Land n less population density, livestock rearing is a private business,to allay the fears of other states to the issue of public money being use to sponsor private business etc, there's also the need now for the country to have national data base of her citizens n let the free movement of herders across borders be stop in view of the widespread security challenges they pose,yes it's the right of all Nigerians to move n live anywhere in the country but where the pursuit of a right results to public security problems it should be the duty of government to act sincerely, swiftly n firmly to solve the problem in a manner that it will be good to all,I don't see the herdsmen or most of our national problems as insolvable, it's just the sincerity n will power that's lacking.
