PoliticsRe: Senator Kalu Replies Akpabio Over NDDC Contract by Deepthoughts: 1:01pm On Aug 03, 2020
SaviMedia:
Senator Kalu replies Akpabio, says NDDC has not paid contractors of roads he facilitated

Chief Whip of the Senate and former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Monday said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has not paid any dime to the contractors who built the roads he facilitated.

Kalu was reacting to the communique written by Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, where he reportedly mentioned ex governors Emmanuel Uduaghan, James Ibori , Senator Ifeanyi Ararume , Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and others to the several contracts allotted by the NDDC

In a statement signed by Barrister Emeka Nwala of office of the Senate Chief Whip and made available to the media, Kalu said he believes the issues at stake in the NDDC has to do with missing funds and not works done , adding that he is becoming worried over his name being used indiscriminately to sell newspapers without verifications.

According to the Chief Whip , the road projects mentioned by the Honourable Minister are the interventions he facilitated for the communities as a private citizen before he became a Senator.

Kalu revealed his name is mentioned because he used his letter headed paper to write a sympathetic letter to the NDDC in 2016 requesting and pleading with the body to rescue roads in Abia.

He also noted his relationship with Senator Akpabio dates years back and long before he (Kalu) became a govenor , adding that he would still request for more road interventions from Akpabio

His words, ” I was Governor of Abia State between 1999-2007 and never held any public office until June 11, 2019 when I was sworn in as a Senator. Between 2016- 2018 during my tour to several communities; leaders and welfare unions of most communities pleaded for urgent intervention on some dilapidated roads . I wrote to the NDDC informing the body of the conditions of these roads and the need for their attention since Abia is an NDDC state .

The NDDC in their consideration which I am very grateful to, awarded the roads to companies that duly tendered for the projects and not myself. Whatever link I have with the projects is because it was considered due to my intervention” He said

The Senate Chief Whip also noted that the NDDC that awarded these projects were not any of the interim management in controversy but the fully constituted body of NDDC with its board.

Clarifying further, he said “the roads I requested for intervention as mentioned by the Honourable Minister were repairs of Ezere-Acha-Ndiokoukwu Road ;Amaubiri-Eluama-Uru Ring Road, Lokpaukwu, Umuchieze ; Ndi Oji Abam-Atan Road ; the Okafia-Ozuitem-Bende road and Ozu-Amuru-Abam Road .

"The contractors have completed and delivered these roads long time ago except  Abam-Atani road which I learnt from the contractors was slowed down due to  rain but still ongoing.

"Meanwhile,  it would interest Nigerians to know that the contractors who built these roads have not been paid any dime . It has not been easy with the contractors but because it's a community project they have only but kept hope alive on the NDDC.

Further speaking, he said  " I am  so much concerned about  roads  because I understand the economic importance of good roads , that's why I built several roads when I was Governor.  Even as a Senator,  it would interest you to know that my major constituency projects are road constructions,  reconstructions and rehabilitations . We have put in plans  to finish 19 roads in Abia North before end of 2021.

"As a community leader,  I do not intend to stop my interventions on roads in NDDC states because all the states need good roads. Good roads help to  drive the economy.  Therefore,  I believe the NDDC forensic audit should focus on the missing funds and not works done . They should focus on paying contractors that delivered their jobs and not using my name indiscriminately to sell newspapers. The Honourable Minister,  Senator Godswill Akpabio is my good old friend.  We have been friends even before I became  a governor.  I hope he doesn't expect me to stop seeking for road interventions in our communities . It is his civic responsibility to support the communities and I am very confident he will oblige our future requests especially in areas of good roads."  Kalu said

Just to see how our fellow country men think and act, following the video made by Dr. Stella Immanuel on effectiveness of Hydoxychloroquine sulfate as a treatment for Covid-19. They have suddenly inflated the price from N2500 to N50,000. Why are Nigerians like this?

Can you push this to FP to create an awareness on this wicked behaviour.
This is bound to happen anywhere in the world although on different scale, the major problem is the complete lack of proactivity on the part of the government, the medical doctor in question did her training here in Nigeria even though she is camerounian, immediately the news broke out one would have expected the government to get in contact with her to get more n special details n then begin to stockpile the drug if necessary to prevent a situation like what is happening now,but the bunch of morons led by their chief dullard will always act true to type, same was the case with face mask instead of the government quicky stockpiling n distributing the cheap standard face mask freely the making there wearing compulsory with attendant punishments for defaulting, they were busy making fools if themselves chasing meaningless measures, buhari is just a complete bag of garbage.

The bigger Questions you should worry about are"
- Can the PDP actually put forward and stand behind a SE Presidential Candidate?
- Can such Igbo PDP Presidential candidate win against say another Northerner candidate in the North or in the South West?
- And if we consider the APC, even if the APC puts forward an Igbo Presidential candidate, how would such person emerge, knowing that hte Igbos were never part of the APC and only a few of them like Joe Igbokwe had the foresight to remain in APC (and he deserves to be handsomely rewarded with a Ministerial appointment, a Governorship position or even the Presidency, some day not very far from now), who will select and back up such Igbo nomination in APC?
- Can such a minority nomination of an Igbo Presidential candidate under the APC flag, win against say a Northerner candidate in another party like the PDP or will it just amount to a waste of ticket, at thi spoint in time?

It is very easy to just chant "ceed the Presidency to the South East", without examng the viability of such ceeding, knowing that both parties will NEVER agree to do so, at the same time, especially with the way the North views Igbos, when it comes to Nigeria's Presidency!
The day l see the PDP and its Northerners back an Igbo President on their ballot, is the day l will vote for an Igbo President.
Imagine if Atiku will ever back an Igbo Presidential aspirant, against a Northerner canididate?
shocked undecided grin
You making it sound as if without Apc one can not achieve any political goal in thiis country but mind you Apc itself may even survive post buhari,if I'm to go by your analysis it simply means only the north can successfully grab the presidency but it's very possible for that to change in the future,I will agree with you that the igbos would have to work real hard to get the presidency, they made. a terrible mistake by not standing firm and allowing the north to complete their tenure after the demise of yaradua, but then having said all these it's important that the igbos are allowed to mount the throne of this country's leadership if we are to achieve true national healing n peace.

RomanceRe: The Lady In My Life, My Burden. by Deepthoughts: 3:36pm On Jul 28, 2020
LordNicvuitton:
Hi Romancelanders, don't know if it's right to share this topic here, but I'll do for now.

I'm Victory, from the East and currently a resident of Edo state. I came to this state, as an intern and thereafter, still served here and in the course of all these, I thought out and established a laundry business, which is just about 8 months old. This was to keep life going and to better bond well with the lady in my life currently.

While in Edo state, having rounded my internship & kickstarting service sometime around 2017, I met this Kiki Osemudiamen (Name changed), and it was nothing serious at 1st, cos I never really thought I'd date someone here, fact is that I never thought I'd stay beyond my service year. I met her while she was in 200l. We encouraged each other, she saw potentials and had faith in me just like I have so much faith in her. She is simplistic, encourages me to save and I in turn, encouraged her and guided her through some of her studies. She passed her 2nd MB.BS. and is currently awaiting lifting of the lockdown on schools, so she can start her clinicals.

Problem is that she came from a not buoyant family financially, and although both parents are alive, she struggles to survive/feed daily. Her dad supplies about 1000litres/trip water to households, while her mum sells at the local market. I on the other hand, came from a middle class family but my Dad is late since 2012, and I've been a sponsor of my education and that of my younger ones through the lil I inherited (which mum manages for now) plus my various endeavours. She depends on me for daily meals and other basic essentials, in fact I had to place her on salary in my laundry shop during this lockdown, so she plays the role of secretary in my shop too.

The latest challenge came about, yesterday. While she slept in the shop, I was out on errand, someone sneaked into the shop and stole her android phone with all of her e-medics textbooks (she reads mostly e-copies because she can't afford hardcopies), she has been crying all through and I really don't know what to do. Since I knew her, She'd been an appendage and an extra financial burden to me, I can't begin to list what I've done for her, although I kept reminding her never to not have entitlement mentality and she does appreciate. Out of desperation to ease her pain, I promised to sponsor her in getting a new phone. I have burdens, huge ones, I'm yet to acquire a diesel engine for my laundry (I use ponytail industrial iron which has higher voltage/current than normal ones), plus other related merchandise that I need to set up and I feel like she slows down my financial pace.

Honestly, I don't do all these for her, hoping for any personal gains, in the words of my daddy in the Lord, Prophet T.B. Joshua, He said and I quote: "We make a living by what we get and we make a life by what we give" but I am almost fed up and tired, especially when I remember that both her parents are still alive.. I am scared that that for the 1st time, I may fail her in that financial obligation because I honestly need money now, with the whole pandemic issue plus, I feel like she slows me down in life financially and a huge burden to me. Right now, she's so attached to me, more so that when I initially wanted to hault our relationship, it almost nearly affected her academics negatively. Please I need matured minds to help me think this through and garnish me with advice(s) because I almost feel so choked up and a rising urge to relocate from here, so i can breathe again.

NB: Advice from married couples and those in serious relationships, will be highly appreciated.

Modified: She went to her bank (First bank) this morning, only to be informed that about 20k (Her mum's business money) has been used to purchase recharge voucher. Her mum sends/receives money from distant customers through her account. Yesterday's scenario, all over again. Please folks, lock your SIM cards just as much as you lock your phones. Learn from this painful experience please.
Let me first of all remind you of one fact of life, it is easier to formulate formulas of life when you are successful, you are still struggling but foolishly following an unrealistic wise saying,ok in my village there's a saying that, it's only when the keg is full that it spills over any other spill before that is a leakage, think about it.

It's almost an impossibility for a northern Christian to become an elected president of this country,a northern Christian becoming the VP too is just part of the dangerous scheming by the conservative Muslim supremacists in the north to perpuate their grip on power,Dogara can choose to accept been use as a puppet for his personal gains but he will eventually be disgraced, equity demands that come 2023 power should shift to a Christian southerner whether in Apc or any other party, the Christians n Southerners should stand up n boldly demands for this,if not that the Christians insisted in Lagos Tinubu would never had made Ambode a governor, even with that how did it ended, Tinubu can scheme from now to eternity, the idea of a southern Muslim succeeding buhari is unacceptable.

There are many laws that seems to change for one reason or the other... I think wink
If there was no need for it, there won't be old Testament and a need for the New Testament... The new covenant being much better than the old!
I give 2 examples:

1. For example, inheritance was to male kids or family members only according to Mosaic laws but four daughters of a particular man who died without sons went to Moses and inquired from God. God said it was good and they should inherit their fathers properties.

I think some laws are still relevant while some are iron clad... Can't be changed!

2. A woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus and by Moses law, she would have been stoned to death! But Jesus did not allow it in his wisdom... Why didn't he allow Moses law to take effect?

Some alterations, God permits and I think anyday of the week a man dedicates to God for rest and worship is just fine! grin

PS.
According to law of Moses, a menstruating woman would be unclean and anything or anyone she touches will be unclean too. But many women on periods, choristers, female Pastors, women in the congregation go in without anyone discriminating against them... So
All the examples you stated are from the Bible n certainly unquestionable but the switching of Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday has no biblical basis n that makes it very questionable.

Happy Sunday to all Nairalanders.

Congratulations to us all. By God's special grace, we're seeing the last Sunday in July despite all the evil happenings all over. To God be the glory!

Sabbath is biblical and observed by Jews from sun down on Friday till sundown on Saturday.

It was ordained by God as the day in which He rested after creating the heaven and earth in six days.

Sabbath was really made by God for mankind because God

- Does not sleep or slumber He doesn't get tired like we do. He's a Spiritual supernatural being. We are flesh and we get tired, hence we do need rest.
- God wants a day to have us to Himself without the distractions that trading or other activities bring into worship.
- Every living thing God made needs to rest to avoid breaking down.
- There is a place of rest in God spiritually that we need to enter for our own peace of mind. It is possible to lay down and try to sleep but if your spirit/ mind is not at rest ( busy or worried) you won't sleep!

Do you observe Sabbath?
Which day do you observe yours? (Friday Saturday or Sunday)
Why do you worship or rest on that particular day of the week?
Have churches been opened in your State?

Do have a wonderful Sunday! grin
Ops your write up actually reminded me of the question I had always wanted an answer for i.e when, why n who changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday?, anyone in the know please.

Nemere2020:
Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advocacy group has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari over his trip to Mali.

Aisha Yesufu said Buhari has become a ‘travel blogger’, who enjoys hopping around the world.

She made the remark while berating Buhari for travelling to Mali while there are issues of insecurity back home in Nigeria.

The activist, who spoke via a video on her Facebook page, said the President should have known that leaving for Mali is the least expectation of Nigerians who look up to him for result-driven leadership.

She said: “Our travel blogger is back in business as he has jetted out to Mali. Anything that will make him be on the plane and anything that has to do with travelling outside the country, President Muhammadu Buhari will do it.

“He is there to talk about the political situation, unrest and everything in the Francophone country. Meanwhile, his country is boiling, his country has practically fallen but that doesn’t concern President Buhari.

“All that concerns him is an opportunity to stand on the steps of the Presidential plane and wave. They are already sending the pictures to us and that is all that matters!”

The BBOG co-convener lamented that Buhari was more concerned about the perk of office than ensuring the security of Nigerians.

She said: “The Commander-in-Chief that is not concerned that Boko Haram insurgents have just murdered some Nigerians whose lives and properties he is supposed to protect and it doesn’t matter that citizens are being killed every day. It doesn’t matter that security agents are being killed all over Nigeria.

“His being a President is to enjoy the perks of office and never to take any responsibility.

“Do you remember those aid workers taken by Boko Haram and so many Nigerians that have been executed? They send gruesome videos hoping that can shock Buhari but they are mistaken.”

Visual inspection of a passenger plane. Bollocks, Lol.

If Mahan Air was really transporting weapons for Iranian-linked fighters, I wonder how the F-15 pilot was going to see these weapons from the window of a passenger plane at 34,000ft. Is the plane a flying showglass?
well,I believe the US actually wanted to identify the plane properly be n relay the information to ground intelligence for follow up, those guys are not fools,of course it's not possible to detect the content of the plane by just a fly pass,Iran could also like be crying wolf without substance as well, good thing they promised to conduct an investigation, the world awaits their facts.
