CrimeRe: Woman Stabs Her Husband To Death by DeepZone(op): 10:16am On Aug 16, 2008
There is no clear cut scenario here as to how that happened. What if the man(who is under the influence of narcotics) was attacking her in such a way that she had to defend herself with the knife? The man could be raping her for all I know or better still, the mental and physical abuse may be so much that it drove her to insanity. Insanity is a trivial factor in a case like this and I'm cocksure this women exhaled the accumulated anger and frustration from her useless husband. This man surely drove her to her limit and i hope the judge will see it from that angle and tamper justice with mercy, may be they'll give her 3 years with time served.

Divorce? she may have taken that option if it was readily available to her but you never know whether she was afraid of getting by without her husband's financial support.

Be it poverty, corruption in the police force, love for criminality or intimiation from cultists; he should face the full wrath of the law. After all, he had enough time to quit.
You can't judge him like that because you don't know what's going on with his life. It's kind of rare to see a genius like this do a thing like this, besides, he's pleading not guilty.

More undergraduates on rampage for feeding money.

NDLEA arrests undergraduate, 2 others
A 19-year-old undergraduate and two other suspected drug traffickers have been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The suspects, who were found to have ingested narcotic drugs were nabbed at the screening point on their way to Amsterdam.

NDLEA Commander at the Airport, Alhaji Hamza Umar, who gave the names of the suspects as Aderinola Taiwo Olajide, 19, Francis Ayul, 33 and Michael Ojumo, 38, said the Agency will continue to stop drug traffickers because their activities were injurious to the nation.

“We will continue to stop drug barons and their cohorts from denting the good image of the country and from destroying innocent lives,” Hamza said.

Aderinola, who lives at Aguda, Lagos, told officers that he is a 200 level Economics undergraduate of University of Ilorin, but the school authority has not been contacted to confirm his claim.

He was caught on August 7, 2008, following the result of scanning which indicated that he ingested narcotics. After he was placed on observation, Aderinola excreted 93 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1.5 kilogramme.

According to Aderinola, who hails from Osun State, he requested the sum of N25,000 from a friend who asked him to carry the drugs and earn much money for himself.

He said, “it has not been easy financing my studies, the help I requested for has landed me in trouble, this is my first time, I did not even negotiate with the person that gave me the drugs. I only asked him for N25,000 and he introduced me into drugs.” The suspect hails from Osun State.

The second suspect, Francis Ayul, was caught on August 4, 2008, for ingesting 87 wraps of substances that proved to be cocaine, weighing 1.450 kilogrammes.

Francis, a school certificate holder, works in Spain as a labourer. He also said he indulged in the illicit act because he needed money to buy ticket back to Spain after visiting his family members in Nigeria. Francis hails from Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Michael Ojumo was also arrested on Monday August 11, 2008, for ingesting 90 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1.40 kilogrammes. He lives in Holland with his wife and three kids and works as a fork lift driver.

He said he needed money to take care of his mother who is suffering from breast cancer. “Please I did it because my mother is having breast cancer, don’t tell my mother that I was caught with drugs; if she knows, she will die,” he pleaded.

The suspects will soon be charged to court.

Woman stabs husband to death in Lagos Olalekan Olabulo, Lagos
Friday, August 15, 2008

The police in Lagos State have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a father of three, Mr. Hakeem Badmus, who was reportedly stabbed to death by his wife on Wednesday.

advertisement

The incident occured at their 28, Coker Street, Mushin, around 10.00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Badmus died in a hospital where he was taken to after he was stabbed in the neck by his wife.

Badmus and his wife, Remilekun, had reportedly engaged in a fierce argument that degenerated into one of them going for a knife.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that Hakeem and his wife were until the incident living with their three children aged seven, six and two.

Remilekun, in her statement with the police, accused her late husband of excessive Indian hemp smoking and wife battery which, she claimed, often led to quarrels between them.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the husband had returned home late on the day of the incident to be confronted by the wife who accused him of returning from where he had gone to smoke.

The accusation led to a serious quarrel between the couple and what followed was the man being stabbed in the neck.

Ex-UME highest scorer in police net for alleged robbery

By Akin Oyedele, Ibadan

The Oyo State police command is now faced with the task of establishing the veracity of the claims by a 2002 highest scorer of the Universities Matriculation Examination, Adio Kolawole, that he is not an armed robber.

https://nigeriaworld.com/images/news/big/crime/suspect.jpg
Kolawole

Kolawole and three members of his alleged gang were among the suspected criminals paraded by the Commissioner of Police at the state command, Mr. Bashiru Azeez, on Thursday in Ibadan.

The police boss alleged that Kolawole was the kingpin of the gang that had on many occasions tormented the University of Ibadan community, especially the female students.

In an interview with journalists, the alleged gang leader, however, insisted that he was not an armed robber, but a member of a cult group operating within the university campus.

Kolawole said he became a victim of circumstance after graduating from the UI, where he claimed to have studied Physiology from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, with matriculation number 110782.

According to the CP, Kolawole and members of his alleged gang were caught with one revolver, three live ammunition, one dagger, one knife and one black belt at a bush path where they had ordered their victims to report.

He said that the suspects had earlier robbed some female students of valuables, but not satisfied with their loot, they ordered their victims, who reside on Carpenter Street, Agbowo, to report at the bush path with more valuables.

Azeez said that the suspects were rounded up when they ran into an ambush laid by the police at the meeting point.

Kolawole said he relapsed into the world of crime due to unbearable pressure mounted on him by some cultists when he enrolled at the UI.

He said, “Because I led the UME exam of that year, they insisted that I should join them. I scored 320 when I sat for the UME in 2002.

“When the cultists knew about my brilliance, they started troubling me that I should join them. I reported to a policeman who, unknown to me, was the one bringing unsuspecting young ones into the Eiye Confraternity.

“It was not a thing I originally wanted to do. When I reported to him that a boy was troubling me, the policeman arrested him and then let him off the hook after 24 hours.

“I that reported the matter to him was held as a culprit and detained for three weeks. When I was eventually released, the cult leader boasted to me that nothing could happen to him and that if I did not join them, he would kill me.

“I was then forced to join the cult. But if I am pardoned, if they don’t kill me, I hope to join the police to help reduce criminality.”

Although he claimed that he was not an armed robber, he said that he only forcibly collected handsets from some female undergraduates, which he had since returned to them.

Kolawole added that the gun found in his possession belonged to a friend who kept it with him when they left a party.

Most Fulani speak the general lingua franca of wherever they settle, but they also have their own language called Fulfulde. A few outsiders can speak it, but not many. I did use to know a Yoruba woman who spoke their language fluently. And if you go to kwara, many of the Fulani there speak very fluent Yoruba.

So most Fulanis probably speak hausa, and interact in the language, up north.

Kanuris speak their own kanuri language.

However, I guess most northerners can communicate in hausa regardless of tribe
Ok

I think the problem is people who have Fulani blood, always want to identify with their Fulani heritage (especially when it comes to politics) , but at the same time they're in a quandary because its rather hard to proclaim yourself Fulani when you look more like your other tribe. The Fulanis have a very distinct look.
True
CultureRe: Why Do Hausa's Flog Their Potential Inlaws? by DeepZone(op): 8:30pm On Aug 15, 2008
Abacha is originally Kanuri though he was born in kano. Kanuris are distinct from Hausa, but Yorubas tend to group all of them together. They're majorly in Borno state (lake Chad). Sokoto is on the other side, and traditionally, used to have some rivalry with the Kanuri empire. They (the Kanuri) blocked Usman dan Fodio when he was conquering northern Nigeria.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanem_Empire

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokoto_Caliphate

Babangida is Nupe, I think. Rumor has it his mom was originally from Ogbomoso, but who knows.

Atiku seems to be Fulani, though maybe a town one. The town Fulanis tend to be easily confused with Hausa, since there's a lot of mixing between them.
Do they have different languages like yoruba is different from Benin language or ibibio is different from ibo because I think they are playing us with these mixtures? Does it mean that the Fulani man communicates with the Hausa or Kanuri man with english or pidgin?

We Nigerians are more interested in outward appearances and frivolous things but overlook the real issue we have. Churches are fighting in Nigeria everyday over doctrinal differences, you wear trouser, you wear thongs, you be woman preacher, you don divorce blah blah blah and we get so obsessed with it that we overlook our own flaws. Let us start by being orderly and truthful abeg. Last time i went to naija, we were following our pastor and he was shunting the road trying to beat the queue and this is a man that finished preaching to us on how God hates sinners, what was he doing? and my dad told me that if you don't do it that way, you'll stay there forever, haba,

Another pastor follower cousin of mine has a habit of criticizing people and how they live in sin but this guy is an expert in pirating Nollywood movies, Cd's, softwares and I was like, you are a damn thief, repent and believe the gospel because a christian has no business pirating cd's or buying pirated softwares/Cd's etc and he said, naaaa, this one na normal thing now. What am I saying, Let God Judge!!!

Nigeria's legislative fatwa against inappropriate attire must be extended to all those apprehended wearing traditional Eskimo seal-fur outfits, as well as all women found wearing undies or bras that are not emblazoned with the Nigerian flag and the Abuja coat of arms.

These brazen crimes against fashion must be punished to the full extent of the law, and beyond.

PoliticsRe: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by DeepZone(op): 5:53pm On Aug 15, 2008
my point is where are you placing all the Yoruba people in kwara?

Did they all somehow vanish mysteriously, and have my kwara friends been lying to me about being Yoruba when they are actually Fulani and Sudanese.

The Yoruba towns in kwara that I've been to, seemed Yoruba enough to me. Fulani who speak excellent Yoruba still don't call themselves Yoruba.

Being mixed is a different matter entirely from what you're saying here.

Wasnt babangida himself rumored to be from Chad?

If somebody's great great grandfather migrated out of his birthplace and settled permanently in a different town, then that's the town that's of primary relevance to the descendants.

Anyway, post links to prove what you're saying. You can skip Gambari's own. I've never heard of him being Yoruba anyway.
Thank you. Dragonoel is probably one of those Kwara Yorubas that love to deny their ethnicity simply because of political purposes and that's why he wants to drag some Yoruba eminent Kwara indigenes to think along his line. It's a shame.
