Internet access in Nigeria has grown consistently over the years since the early 2000s when GSM was introduced in Nigeria. However, there has been varying reactions from the 200-million large Nigerian population about the lack of access in many rural areas to poor network even in cities and to complaints, criticisms, and grievances about the excessive costs charged by the service providers for data.

This forms the crux for Pi Sairtel, a new telecoms company setting sail into the ICT sector to provide a better deal for the large population of Nigerian that are yet unreached and unserved by the multi-million dollar Nigerian telecoms industry. They are also ready to bring satisfaction to several disappointed Nigerians who currently use the available internet services.

Speaking at a media parley with pressmen in Lagos, the Acting Managing Director of Pi Sairtel, Mr. Salvation Alibor shared: 'If it is internet then it should work. You want to use it for work, it should work. Your kids want to use it for their assignment, it should work. A lot of people are involved in e-learning today, you want to study online, it should work. Internet should not be restricted.'

'That's the philosophy of Sairtel - it is internet access anytime, anywhere. We want internet unrestricted wherever, whenever.'

'We also want to change the narrative of 'it is reliable but expensive'. You don't want to tell anyone that for them to install internet in their homes, they have to pay N500,000. It does not add up. The products we are selling will be affordable to use.'

He continued: 'In some regions, the mobile network companies don't want to send their people there so it is difficult to make service available. Some are providing epileptic services. But people are in those places, businesses are operating there, people's homes are in those places.'

'There are persons using KA band solution there but some service providers are already pulling out of those regions. We want to tell people there that we are willing to provide services for them. If they have the kits of those KA bands, they can actually get activated with us. What they need to do is to contact us and we will switch them on. If they don't have our kind of kits, we will give them for free. The idea is to ensure that people have access to the internet.'

On the intention of Sairtel to cover more grounds, Mr. Salvation commented: 'In terms of providing more coverage, there are people living even here in Lagos like Epe, Badore who don't have mobile internet. But when a fixed network service comes in with quality broadband, they will enjoy good internet.'

'If there are also gated environments or estates, I know many of them say we need internet service provider in our estate, we have solutions that the can enable them to start running internet service within their estate. They don't actually have to pay for the equipment, we set it up for free and then we bring on internet. This applies not only in Lagos, we are ready to create blanket internet service across Nigeria. So if we have estates, communities, campuses, residences in clusters that want us to do such, we will do same. We will install our equipment at no cost to them. There are many places that mobile networks are difficult, we will get it there too, our Website is: www.Sairtel.com'

'We are using satellite technology so that helps us to blanket areas not only in Nigeria but also in Benin Republic, Cameroon, and Niger Republic. We want to make a name for ourselves in Nigeria before we activate other countries. We already have Sairtel in East Africa so we have the capacity to do this. It is for our people to be aware of this possibility. We have ISP's who can be partners with us. They sign up with us, we train them on how to deploy our services and we provide support. With that, we are able to go farther.'

The Acting MD of the ICT firm added: 'Our goal is that irrespective of where you are in Mambilla plateau, Adamawa mountain, Ijaw creeks, border between Nigeria and Niger Republic, in the city, in the town, the internet will work for you.'

Clearing the air on the issue of the closeness of the Sairtel brand with Airtel, he emphasized: 'We are not Airtel. We are Pi Sairtel. The name is just coincidental. We are using red colour because it's a bright colour. We have a sister company that is into TV channels. We are into internet services. So there is no relationship

The Bajomo's 20th Wedding Anniversary.

Wife-
What I feel is a heart of gratitude, like I was saying in church today, we have passed through loss (of a baby), properties and so many things, hardships , moments of discouragement, is that okay? In it all, they are testimonies. Like you can see the hand of God, he's given us so much, given us platform for ministry, He gave us strength.

Husband
When I think about the journey, I think about how we began the journey, how we met in Bauchi- like she said, the beauty of the journey is what we've been through. We've had points of celebration, points of Thanksgiving, points of gratitude.

CelebritiesLosing My Job Gave Me Other Ideas To Succeed In Life — Chioma Nwaorie by DejiPlug(op): 12:13pm On May 27, 2021
Idowu Bankole

Chioma Nwaorie is the founder and owner of My Nigerian Cuisine, a successful, full-service restaurant specializing in high-quality Nigerian meals of all kinds in Mount View, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.

One of the most remarkable and noteworthy stories about Chioma's is that in addition to being a world-class restauranteur, she is a graduate of Biochemistry from Madonna University and former international real estate executive, infusing a more professional and scientific approach to her business than the closest competition.

In this bare it all interview with Idowu Bankole, Chioma explains her enthusiasm in the food business and why she would never give up her dream of being the reference point for good Nigerian cuisine in and outside Nigeria

WHAT IS MY NIGERIAN CUISINE?

My Nigerian Cuisine is a restaurant and a food processing company focused on local Nigerian meals.

First, figure out what you passionate about. Because for a business to succeed you need to love what you do.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE YOU VENTURED INTO THE FOOD BUSINESS?

I was working for a Réal estate company based in Dubai. Who specializes in the development of luxury hôtel units.

WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE COMPANY?

I joined 8 years ago in Abuja Nigeria. I worked with them till 2016 and was later réemployéd in Dubai in 2018.

WHAT WAS YOUR JOB ROLE?

I had the same job role both in Nigeria and Dubai. I was a promotional venue Executive. I market these luxury units to prospect.

SO, WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE COMPANY?

In 2020 during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic the company had to let a lot of their staff go and unfortunately I was one of them.

HOW DID THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?

I really loved working for the company and I loved my job. I was devasted and lost at first. My job gave me a sense of purpose and social status. The job paid me very well in Dubai. I felt lost I had no idea what my next move will be or what the future holds.

ASIDE FROM LOSING YOUR JOB, WHAT EXTRA MOTIVATION BIRTHED MY NIGERIAN CUISINE?

Passion and Money. There is money in the food business this I can tell you. I love to cook now I just make money from doing something I love

First of all, you have to figure out what you are passionate about, and not just going into any business simply because others are doing it. Passion is what drives a business, regardless of the challenges you might face. In all, I am sure my experience will be able to motivate anybody who might be interested and passionate about going into the food business, to start as you don’t need much for it.

SO WHAT TYPE OF FOOD DO YOU MAKE?

We make purely Nigerian meals. We specialize strictly in local Nigerian food. My Nigerian cuisine is a place where you can have different meals from different ethnic groups in Nigeria.

HOW MANY RECOMMENDATIONS AND COMPLAINTS HAVE YOU GOT ON YOUR JOB?

I get a lot of complaints I can’t really count. But definitely on a daily basis. It’s part of the job but it also makes the brand stronger as I take every complaint in good faith and ensure the customers are satisfied

HOW DO U SEE COMPLAINTS FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS?

I see them as an opportunity to collect information about a customer needs, opinion and most of all upset customers are looking for clarity, not trouble

CAN A JOBLESS NIGERIAN AFFORD UR FOOD?

My food is quite affordable an average meal starts from 800 naira

WHAT OTHER SERVICES DO YOU RENDER?

We are also into catering services

Be it, weddings, birthday parties, conferences and much more.

We also sell food in packs to offices and take the burden off homes and supply them freshly cooked meals week/monthly.

We also have an outreach where we reach out to the less privileged by feeding them weekly.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS OUTREACH?

We help to feed the less privileged. We have people who help sponsor this outreach. With as little as N30,000 you can feed up to 50 people.

WHAT WERE YOUR MAJOR CHALLENGES WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED?

Money was one of my major challenges but again cooking from home you don’t need much to start.
My second biggest challenge is debts. People will buy food and won’t pay it was frustrating I still face this challenge. Also, it’s hard to say no to someone when they are hungry.

HOW DO YOU PLAN TO TACKLE THESE CHALLENGES?

Going forward I plan to make its payment before service.

YOU STUDIED BIOCHEMISTRY AND YOU WORKED FOR A REAL ESTATE COMPANY NOW you OWN A RESTAURANT, WHY IS THAT SO?

I initially wanted to work in a production lab. But after I left school the first and only job I could secure was the real estate job.
After I lost the job I decided to go into entrepreneurship as there are no jobs. Instead of sitting around and waiting for the government. Losing my job was one of the best things that happened to me as my life actually started after I lost it.
Entrepreneurship is not an easy journey but it is definitely better when you doing something you love and make money from it. I love cooking.

YOU SEEM TO REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO FIGURE OUT ALL THIS AFTER YOU LOST YOUR JOB?

It took a while like after I lost my job I was really confused, all I wanted to do immediately was sell perfumes.
After the confusion started to fade, I remembered my side hustle and I started planning, at this time I had no money as a result of the bad financial decisions I made.

Then I started cooking from home. I would call my friends and beg them to patronize me. I would send free food to offices as a way of advertising my food. My friends will visit me at home and I will serve them food and charge them for it. Yeah, I was that broke. They understood.

HOW DO YOU INTEND TO INFLUENCE THE LIVES OF AN ORDINARY NIGERIAN GIRL WHO WOULD HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AS YOU WITH YOUR CURRENT ENDEAVOUR?

In the long, I would like to train young girls on how to venture into business. As to help curb the early mistakes I made when I first started.

WHAT IS YOUR LONG TERM PLANS FOR MY NIGERIAN CUISINE?

We are setting up a park in Gwarimpa, the project is ongoing. My Nigerian Cuisine will also have a food production part. Where local spices, foods, the processed and canned meal will be sold locally and exported to other countries.

WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?

I studied Biochemistry at Madonna University.

ARE YOU MARRIED?

No, I am not.

From the moment I watched you slip into the world when you were born 3 years ago today you have brought me nothing but joy and pride. From that second I have never stopped loving you and I never will.

Each and every day of those three years has been one of immense satisfaction and pleasure. Your very existence and the fact that you keep flourishing and going from strength to strength is a confirmation of the efficacy of prayer and evidence of the power, grace and mercy of the Living God.

Yet I am not surprised because our God is faithful unto His own and you are all covenanted and dedicated to Him and none other.

We are one and nothing can change that. Nothing can ever come between us. I am honored and proud to be your father and you have given me an additional reason to continue to live, to fight on, to overcome every hurdle and to excel.

For you I will do anything. For you I will endure anything. For you I will fight anything. For you I will take anything.

You are blessed in every way and you will never fail, fall or be ashamed. The Lord stands for you and the blood of Jesus speaks for you just as I do every day.

No force on earth or from hell will destroy you or deny and deprive you of your heritage, substance, essence, virtues, glory, honor, dignity and destiny.

The word of the Lord is your shield and the promise of the Lord is your strength.

You hail from a great, illustrious, distinguished and ancient lineage and your heritage is one of honor, loyalty, courage, strength, decency, service to our nation and nobility.

From Ile Ife, the Source, hailed your forefathers hundreds of years ago and I know that one day you shall do both me and them proud with your outstanding and remarkable exploits and great achievements.

I see traits of that greatness in the three of you already and in your older brother Aragorn. Your brilliance, strength, eagerness to always share with others and make them happy and ability to endure is extraordinary and your insight and understanding, even at such an early age, is remarkable. You are a working miracle from wonderful of God.

Be rest assured that I will never leave you and I will continue to love you, stand by you and pray for you every day.

Outside of that you know that millions are praying for you as well and love you deeply.

You are my strength and your older brother Aragorn, your sisters and other siblings and indeed our entire family and household all love you so much. Each and everyone one of them simply adores you.

As for me I loved you yesterday, I love you today and I shall love you forever and long into eternity.

I bless you with the blessing of a father. I give and grant you that only which a father can give and grant with the words of his lips. You shall live long and prosper and you shall excel. You shall never lack and neither shall you ever suffer or see shame.

The Lord shal exalt your horn and enlarge your coast. You shall be as a well-watered garden: fruitful and productive.

The Lord shall smite down your enemies and those that hate you.

You shall live long and prosper and all the days of your lives you shall enjoy the fruit and fat of the land.

The sun shall not smite you by day nor the moon by night.

The stars, the air, the fire, the water, the earth, the elemental forces and all the powers of the cosmos shall fight for you and the forces of darkness and agents of satan shall crumble before you.

The counsel of the ungodly shall never stand over you and neither shall bloodthirsty or evil men ever see or come near you.

You shall go from strength to strength: you shall never feint and neither shall you ever be weary.

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the God of David shall renew your strength all the days of your lives, He shall be your great provider and your shield and buckler.

They shall know that your God and your father's God is mighty and that He is faithful, true and irresistable in battle.

Happy birthday to my handsome Princes' and my beautiful sons, Ragner, Aiden and Liam.

Live long and prosper my strength: your stars shall never be dimmed and neither shall they ever be eclipsed.

I thank God for each and every one of you. Glory be unto His holy name forever.

David and Bathsheba (Part 2)

BATHSHEBA PART 2 FORCED MARRIAGE

Young women in Old Testament times married at a young age. Bathsheba was probably fifteen or sixteen when she was married to Uriah so we can assume she was not yet twenty years old when King David took her. We can work out that King David was at least forty five and that his eldest son, Ammon, was at least twenty five. (This is important, as we shall see later)

Put yourself in Bathsheba’s shoes: you have been taken by force by the supposedly devout David. You, who were ritually clean, have been defiled, and humiliated and cast off. Now you are pregnant, not with Uriah’s child but with the child of the King. You may face death by stoning, or worse, burning.

If this is not trauma enough you now learn that you are a widow. The one person who could protect you and comfort you, the man you love with all your heart, is dead. This is sorrow upon sorrow: deep anguish of soul. You cry day and night. You do not yet know that your husband was killed on the King’s instructions.

You are isolated in grief but even this delicate time is cut short. Your grandfather appears,

Bathsheba, the King wants to marry you. You have seven days to mourn and prepare. Bathsheba, what is going on?”

You are aghast. So it’s either death by stoning or marriage to the very person who violated you. There is no way out. You are numb. This is not what you want. Grandfather does not know that you are pregnant but soon he will find out with devastating consequences.

You never want to see King David again, let alone be married to him. He is a fallen idol, a fake. Everyone thinks he is totally sold out to Yahweh but you know differently, he took you knowing full well who you are: the wife of Uriah, the daughter of Eliam, two of his most faithful warriors. Not only that but he was fully aware that you are the much loved granddaughter of his counsellor, Ahitophel. He not only violated you but your husband, your parents and grandfather.

Let’s pause a moment: how would YOU feel? Me, I would be beside myself with grief. I would also be white hot angry. ‘You David, have made me pregnant. You, David, have nineteen wives and an army of concubines, not to mention innumerable children. So now you are making me trophy wife number twenty! What kind of a happy home is this? Everyone thinks you are a great man of God but I know you are not.” I would be tempted to despise him.

It was a very miserable and unhappy young lady that entered the King’s Palace. We have no record of the wedding. Perhaps there was never such a sad bride, weakened with weeping;

nauseous with morning sickness, hopefully oblivious to the hostile glances of the older wives.

But there is comfort. She is carrying a child. She feels him kick and wriggle. She sings to him; talks to him, prays over him and feels an overwhelming tenderness towards him. She imagines him to be the child of Uriah. There is another consolation; the prophet Nathan. He is indeed a great man of God. He seeks her out. He comforts her. He becomes her friend.

The months pass. She gives birth and is full of joy. The child is beautiful. David has not come near her since she entered the palace. Shortly after the wedding he left for Rabbah to take charge of his forces there. Now victorious, he is back. His first call is to see his latest child. He takes the baby in his arms. He is a proud father. He comes every day for a week then abruptly the visits stop. It’s then that Bathsheba is aware of a strange silence in the palace. Her maids tell her that King David is lying prostrate in his chamber; he will neither eat nor drink. He is weeping and crying out to Yahweh.

Bathsheba is mystified but her baby consumes and comforts her. He is utterly delightful but then – calamity! The child is sick, very sick. She calls for Nathan but when he arrives Bathsheba can see that the prophet is deeply distressed. He makes a strange request: he would like to bring the king to see the child. ‘Since when does the king need permission to come?’ Bathsheba wonders. When he arrives accompanied by Nathan she is aghast. He is disheveled, his clothing torn. He is gaunt. To her astonishment he falls prostrate before her and weeps. He does not address his wife but cries out to God with heart rending sobs,

Have mercy upon me, O God…..

Blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

I acknowledge my transgressions,

And my sin is ever before me….

Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed…

Blot out all my iniquities
…”

He cannot continue, Nathan gathers him up and accompanies the weeping king back to his chambers.

Much later the prophet returns. He asks Bathsheba to sit while the maid attends to child.

Looking deeply into her eyes he says,

Bathsheba, our king has sinned greatly against you and your entire family. It is not only what he did to you, but it was the king who ordered that your husband should be sent to his death on the battlefield.”

Genesis 38:24 “Judah was told ‘Tamar, your daughter in law…..is with child through harlotry .’ So Judah said, “Bring her out and let her be burned.’”

Born on May 26 in Lagos but hailing from Owerri, Ali is currently signed to Crime Fighters FC and has since been working to be among the greatest midfielders Nigerian football has ever seen.

This blessed my life when sent to me. Please, have a read too dear friend.

Copied for General Enlightenment by Pastor Mrs. Margaret Oluyemisi Bajomo

...And then I asked the Lord, 'Lord how can a mortal man please a spiritual God, how can flesh and blood like me please a Spirit like you' ? Then He answered me as though with a chuckle, 'you must learn to live like a tree'. More puzzled still I asked

'Lord how do I live like a tree'? Then He asked me 'Son, why do you plant trees?' I answered slowly with thoughts flying through my mind, 'Lord I believe trees are planted for fruits, for shade and beauty and then He asked me 'which among them does the tree benefit directly from?' I answered ' none Lord'.

Then the Lord said 'Son you must take note of the following if you will ever please Me':

'First ', He said, 'no matter how tall a tree grows, it never leaves the ground. You will never see a tree flying. So in the same way, no matter how great you become, you must remain humble. You must never allow what I Am doing in your life get into your head; you must not lose your touch with the ground;

Second , Son, a tree grows deeper as it grows higher. You must deepen and strengthen the principles you started with. You must have a firm grip on the things you started your walk with God with and they must grow stronger as God lifts you higher. Watch out, for the enemy will creep in to make you believe you are too busy to strengthen your real strengths;

Third , every tree grows in the direction of the source of its energy (The Sun).

Unlike many men who grow away from the source of their energy, your growth should bring you closer. The growth and expansion on your life should not take you from the source of the growth and expansion. Please take note that the growth of a tree is measured by how close it has become to the source of its energy;

Fourth , He asked, Son, have you ever seen a tree eating its own fruits, I answered laughing 'No Lord' then He said you must know that whatever I have placed on your life: your gifts, talents, the anointing on your life is not for self gratification. You must never see it as a means of rewarding yourself...I placed them on your life for my people.

Fifth, there is no tree reserved for a special kind of people...there is nothing like a tree for the rich or a tree for the poor. You should remain accessible to all kinds of people. On your way to Jarius' house, the wretched woman with the issue of blood should be able to touch you. As you go on to heal the Rich man's daughter, the poor blind Bartimeus should be able to call you and gain your attention.

Sixth, a tree never leaves the place where it is planted. No matter how dry the place and scorchy the sun becomes, a tree will remain there and at times die there in hope that someday its maker will send rain. Even if there is a greener pasture just nearby, a tree would never leave the place of its 'planting'.

Then with a staid sense in His voice, He said 'son, this last one I consider very important and I want you take very seriously. You must never forget everything I have told you today', I said 'okay Lord'

He went ahead and said 'Seventh, a tree in the forest where no man is bears fruits as much as a tree in the city. It doesn't say "well, because there's no one to eat of me or see what I am doing or appreciate me, I won't bear fruits next season". It keeps thinking in its heart "who knows, an hungry man may just pass by and let it not be that he passes by and meets no fruit on me and if not, my Maker may come unannounced to check if there be fruits on me". The tree knows that it is bearing fruits to please its Maker not in having people around to eat of the fruit...will you keep bearing fruits even if there were nobody around to see what you are doing and say well-done?

At this point, I asked the Lord to help my heart for I knew I needed His GRACE to do this...

One of the lessons that Bola Tinubu and those with him will soon learn is that it is a very dangerous thing and an exercise in futility to stand against a moving train.

Those that met in Lagos yesterday only represented their own narrow mindset and band of thinking and their political party.

They didn't represent the position of the Yoruba people. There are 70 million Yorubas in the world today and Tinubu does not speak for or lead most of them.

He only leads part of the APC in parts of the SW and those that are with him are mainly members of the fading ruling elite.

If there is a referendum on self- determination in the South West tomorrow these characters would be flushed down the toilet and thrown into the dustbin of history.

The way to counter those that want to exercise their right of self-determination and leave Nigeria is not to act as if they do not exist, impose your will on them, dismiss them with contempt and attempt to publicly rubbish and dismiss their legitimate concerns and aspirations but instead to try and understand where they are coming from, assuage their fears and anxieties, negotiate with them and give them guarantees about their place and role in a new and restructured Nigeria.

Outside of that it is only a question of time before they break away and determine their own future. Tinubu does not control the streets of the SW: the Yoruba nationalists and separatists do.

Those that met in Lagos only represent a tiny group of those in the South West. They cow tow to, beg and lobby the separatists behind closed doors and they condemn and disown them before the world. Such intellectual dishonesty, doubkespeak and cowardice is reprehensible.

Deep down in their hearts they want to break off from Nigeria as well but instead of having the courage of their convictions they tell the world otherwise simply because they want Bola Tinubu to be President.

They forget that the prospect of a Tinubu Presidency disgusts the Yoruba nationalists and the majority of people in the South West. Such a Presidency will not stop the the separatists: it would only strengthen and embolden them.

Worse still it would be a disaster for Nigeria. (FFK)
