Young man, the pieces of information you provided aren’t absolutely helpful in understanding the giving far-reaching financial advise.
Clarity on the following might help;
1. What business are you into?
2. How long did it take you to raise your net profit?
3. What is your motivation for building a house; being called a landlord, collecting rental or what?
4. What is the cost of a land and erecting a structure? The wise counts/knows the cost before embarking on any project.
5. Can you expand your business to make more money?
6. How structured and sustainable is your businsss?
7. How diversified is your investment?
And a whole lot more!
covid2019: I am in a dilemma worsened by this covid19.
I am a graduate male of 29 residing in the East. I still squat with a friend, not because I don't have money for house rent. But principally because I have been unable to figure out what I want to do with my life, hence renting a house feels like a commitment that might get me stuck.
I always feel I might move anytime soon-- to either another state or abroad for masters or just practice of my profession. Note that I didn't study a STEM course.
All these while squatting, I have been saving via my proceeds from hustles.
In the wake of this COVID19, I checked all my banks and found out that money I have in my account has lost so much value given the dollar rate.
I have 11.4 million, inclusive of my working capital, plus a rickety car valued at 350k. Each time, I need just 3-5m as working capital.
It seems that trying to save more is false economy and might be counter productive.
NOW, I AM CONSIDERING buying a plot of land and erecting a small house even if it's 3 rooms. This, I think will serve as investment that will keep appreciating and also serve as residence.
Or just open a domiciliary account to hedge against naira fall and continue saving. What do you think please?
Do you have an idea of the charges or percentage of the earnings the agent/employer would take out for those two years after helping secure a job there?
Conversely, what’s the cost implication of using one’s funds and not an agent’s?

theenchanter: We all know the country have been on lockdown for close to one month and means of livelihood has drastically reduced for a lot of people... But for some of us that still made little money in this harsh period, how much did u made and how did you made it?
Me: I've made #35,000. I worked as a freelance for one reputable TV station covering some news, I covered 3 news for them and I made #10,000 each. The news are...
1..... When NIMASA donated some gift items to LASG. 2..... When FG donated food items to LASG. Min. For humanitarian affairs handed over d food items to LASG. 3..... A coverage at state House when Gov. Sanwo-olu addressed d state.
I made #5,000 when I did one small german-german work (I go break concrete for one yeye madam like that).
What model of Xiaomi would you recommend for a mobile phone video maker (Fast speed, good camera, light, sound and battery) with a budget of 40K - 70K?

I’m not quite definite on the spirituality or otherwise of dogs.
But one thing I know is that dogs have better auditory (hearing) capacity than humans.
Human hearing range is between 20Hz to 20kHz, while dogs can do lowers ranges to over 40kHz...Quite rusty with the figures now, though.
So, it could have been that the dog heard sound beyond human perception.
Daum: While staying indoors because of Covid 19, my mind flashed back to my visit to a Village about 10 years ago.
One night, we were outside as always and there was no moonlight so everywhere was dark just some few local lamp on. We were seated outside with a man in his 70s and he was telling us some stories.
There was this local dog opposite us just lying down. After a while she started barking. At first we thought she was just disturbing but the dog stood up and was barking continuously facing a particular direction. What caught my interest was how she walked towards that direction and stood there barking.
Later she stopped but she lied down there. Less than 10 minutes again she stood up like she heard something and started backing again, this time we were concerned, we pointed our torch light at the direction but we couldn't see anything, it was then the old man told us to relax, that the dog knows why it is barking. She probably had seen an evil spirit or witch and as long as she keeps barking, the spirit can't come close.
Fact: The world is getting tired of Nigeria’s unproductive strides, motionless movement and age-long underdevelopment.
Look around, development interventions and fundings in Nigeria are dwindling. International governments and agencies are reducing their interests and investments in Nigeria, hence, the reach out to China.
We’ve outlived our incubation period. For years, the world looked towards the collective manifestation of Nigeria in socio-economic and political stead, but we failed ourselves, how much more onlookers.
What’s left of the global interest in Nigeria can be attributed to our number and perhaps resources.
Politics and economics are about numbers. Same way the poverty level of Nigeria’s north is attributed to the whole country, so is the relationship between what happens in Nigeria to W/Africa and Africa, hence, the world’s interest.
Let Nigeria breakup and see how South Africa or any other country of number and resource become of global interest.
I surmise that there’s nothing these institutions want from Nigeria other than propel it to achieve better potentials as it’ll affect other nations.
Chosen1984: With the way these World Organizations are Intrested in Nigeria these days.... I Suspect something..
There is a Target!
I Suspect all these concerns are Connected to a Vaccine!
I Believe that the Belief is that once Nigeria is gotten , any other African nation will fall in..
Nigeria is Respected and Feared not because of our Economy or leaders!
Nigeria is Feared because Nigeria is a Spiritual Heavy Weight!
It's very good to receive information with some consciousness and discernment in this age and time.
This is how fake news and social fear spread.
holatin: the op got the video wrong. those running are actually chasing the boys away. no camera captioned the robbers. they are much nothing less than 50 in number
UPDATE 1: Did you notice that they didn't attack stander-bys, passers-by and moving vehicles? Perhaps this is not targeted at residents but a rival tussle. May we see the full video?
The rich oppress the POOR...The poor also oppress the POOR.
This is a case of unmanaged anger and display gross stupidity.
These are the "enu gbe, anything for the boys, alabaru, agbero, conductor" boys with allegiance to a cult group and pressure groups.
Why oppress the same people in your community when they are not the ones that issued the lockdown nor engaged in public embezzlement?
They could channel their anger at elected officers and will make much sense.
We really have a long run to make in this country.
It simply shows the cosmetic and unstrategic approach to governance in Lagos and Ogun, a reflection of the country itself.
Security of lives and properties are assured here.
You may think you're rich and lodge in an estate and this won't get to you, but it's only a matter of time.
Being idle creates a stream of possibilities for criminal and sinister tendencies.
Has anyone, the government, in particular, checked up on the livelihood of the alabarus, agberos, conductors, vulcanisers, cleaners, clerical staffs and errand folks this season?
I'd be disappointed if the governments of Lagos and Ogun express any surprise or shock at this.
There's got to be a holistic approach to the management of the effects of the pandemic across, and just focusing on the infection itself.
Religious institutions have a role in social development.
This act displays the social responsibilities of the church...God bless them.
Local Deeper Life churches have been distributing foodstuff meant for their annual Easter Retreat to their needy members.
Socially responsible institutions should be commended for tackling the issues from all angles; complying with the govt's lockdown directive, donating to the government and providing substance to their members and other people.
This is, perhaps, the thread of the week; widely read with a plethora of comments.
A couple of expressed thoughts are based on mere speculations and sweeping generalisations that do not hold sway.
Every society has its dynamics. Understanding the workings of each society will give you mastery and penetrative advantage.
Right here in Nigeria, there are thousands of men and women professionally doing well who are not considering relationship or marriage. Same way, there are others who are interested in relationship/marriage but have not found any...Yes, some of them are lonely while others really do not care and are not lonely.
So, saying all ladies out of relationship or marriage are lonely, is absolutely wrong and unfounded.
Except God helps a man, the race to life, happiness and joy in marriage will end in futility.
The exchange rates are just a reflection of the wider forex market in Nigeria.
I suppose you’re aware that Dollar trades for N415-420 at the moment.
You can either wait in optimism that the exchange rates will reduce before you convert to invest or exchange now knowing that the Naira might be devalued sooner than later.
Ceteris paribus, your stock trading and earnings in Dollar will help you hedge against devaluation.
