Originakalokalo: That is the secret.nothing else.Well, dont see yourself graduating with First Class, it may create unneccessary pressure or distraction. All the aforementioned is on point: study, play, pray, etc. Funny enough i hardly checked my GP until 300L when i had a C in a particular course; my one and only. |
Fatherhood! And some say mothers go through alot. Fathers nko? Na wa o On the whole, blame all the women involved - daughters and mother. Mother chiefly. The daughters lied like every other teenager. At that age, they did not know the implication of their action. Teenagers lie, something every parent is aware of. On the other hand, they should have come out with the truth earlier, maybe in their 20s. Now, we cannot justify their continued silence on age. They have no souls. They are devils. I blame the mother chiefly. Mothers should be the best judge of all. She should have done more to verify the truth. No matter how hoard the hearts of teenagers are, a mother can and will always penetrate. But she was blinded by her unconditional love for her children at the peril of truth and her husband. She judged him already and so, condemned him to unbearable earthly damnation. If she loved him (which was supposed to be the reason she married him), at a particular point, she should have forgiven him even if it was true. Women eh...SMH. Two songs on my mind: 1: No Woman No Cry - Bob Marley 2: Who Ruin the World? Girls! - Beyonce |

Nairaland and its bunch of I know your plan is to drive traffic since Tonto Dikeh, Wizkid, Boko haram and PDP news dont sell again here. Shame! Reddit banned a section of its forum dedicated to helping to track suspected terrorists few days ago because of unveriable reports submitted daily by members. Facebook closed the account of an online dating site that used the picture of Rahteh Pateah (the 17yr canadian who attempted suicide few months ago) for ad. Learn, Nairaland, learn! Better stories wey go do body better dey for there for different sections, but our political MODs no FP them because Tonto Dikeh and co nor dey inside the stories. Na yeye traffic stories una dey FP, hustling for commenters like common greenhorn bloggers. You clone stories from Linda Ekeji, Everywhere in Nigeria, etc and they take priority gracing the FP like play play while those who use their brains to come up with impressive articles are sidelined. Update your platform, u nor gree, improve your features, for where? You nor gree...I better start patronizing others now. SMH |
chinaman666: As a Chinese living in Lagos, I want to say that these two are innocent until proven guilty. If they're found guilty, they should be punished according to the law.Chima! Chima!! Chima!!! How many times i call you? Oya go stay for workshop. ![]() |

'Attempted molestation' or 'molestation'? ![]() Attempted molestation isnt as serious as molestation itself and since the girl's button and troussers were forcefully touched, that is 'molestation'! |
Not first of its kind ooooooooo! This idea was first introduced by 2 departments in the Faculty of Administration, Obafemi Awolowo university in 2005/2006. Eventually, Ecobank financed one of the departments while GTbank financed the other. The idea was brought up by 2 students from these two departments who were students presidents then, and they introduced the idea to these banks. First, one fo the departments approached then IBTC bank but the bank wasnt so sure. GTbank accepted it and it came to life. To God, I still use the free account that came with the ID card which was also an ATM card. I still used the acct to transfer money daily even 2 days ago. Chei! See as our patent privilege has been stolen ooooo |
Bimpss: Lmao! @op ikr!!. That's the exact reason I don't watch nollywood movies anymore. I remember the first time I showed my akata friends a naija movie(Desmond Elliot was the lead actor, I think) and they were all like "why is he talking like that?" I busted into laughter at how embarrassing it was. I don't know why naija people think having an American accent is the proper way to speak. I especially HATE how people like ice prince put on that "I am so hood" wanna be accent, everytime I hear him rap I just want to shut him up and just go like "No, just no." "Don't ever do that again in your life!"So you would rather have everyone talk like who? Hon Pat Obahiagbon? Desmond sounds cool as far as I can tell. Nollywood dudes sound cool (well, except for that bad guy always playing the role of a hired killer but hardly kills a fly. Cant remember his name now). The ladies are the cause of Nollywood wahala. The Tonto Dickehs and co, twisting English to make it even more confusing. truth is, if some of these dudes speak with accents, it is probably because they lived abroad for a long time and imbibed the intonation. It is always the case. Ice Prince doesnt rap with an accent that much. The other day he did a weather presentation on a TV station in the States, he sounded natural although with words like 'whadup peeps', 'hey man', etc Listen to MI's songs, especially his early ones, listen to the way he pronounces his words, he didnt use any foreign accent but his pronunciation of words were different. He doesnt even speak pidgin that much. Listen to Banky W, his pronunciations are on point (and some peeps think he forms an accent). Listen to Sinzu, Mode 9, Godwon, etc those guys spent time abroad, so their pronunciations are different (or better than the average Nigerian's). Tha's not accent, that's proper pronunciation. |
BigGold: I never know that being a landlord is a career. I beg which university dey run that course make I go write JAMB to study am, it seems to be a lucrative profession.Bros, with this current ASUU thing, you still wan write JAMB go study Landlordology for univeiry abi? I pray make you nor turn 75years before you graduate come become landlord for just 2 years before person go peme. |
Ibime: Nonsense! None of these work in marriage.Well, I suppose he/she/it is talking about boil-fliend/gelfliend thingy...not necessarily marriage. ![]() |
I almost thought this was written by a female but I checked the blog, and alas! KUNLE wrote it! Well, nice but sometimes you dont have to orchestrate these things before they happen. They happen naturally in relationships - small small fights and make-ups, phone switch off thingy, I miss you thingy, pulling pranks, etc but watching her undies? |
Egba girl: I see what you are getting at but the problem is the "overdoing" and "over sabi". For example, instead of pronouncing "cause" the way it should be, those trying too hard will add an "r" to become "caurse". That's where the problem is. It's not by force to speak in an accent that isn't natural. Even those that have lived abroad for long still mess up they'd their pronunciation sometimes not to talk of those who do "wanna be".Yeah. But then, when i hear some people pronounce 'cause', it sounds more like 'cos' meanwhile the 's' should sound 'z'. So, I just feel sometimes, it is when you are trying to pronounce some words correctly, thats when some people kinda think oon is forming it. One annoying trend is the 'think' or 'thank' word. Most Nigerians pronounce it as 'tink' or 'tank' (omitting the 'h') while the wannabes pronounce it 'fink' or 'fenk. Lol...Crap! Although it sounds more like 'fink', it actually isnt. The 'th' must be pronounced the right way, not 'f'. Its all funny |
CFCfan: I watch Channels TV here in California, and I don't think their journalists speak with a fake accent. They only pronounce English words the right way. If anything, their way of speaking is almost "accent-neutral".I agree with you, 100%. I have listened to many Nigerian presenters and their accent is almost neutral. I think the error or misunderstanding crops up when some people hear a guy pronounce a word different from the way others pronounce it, and the 'amebos' go dey para for nothing say this guy dey form accent. Although make we nor lie, e get some cool fm dudes and gals wey form foreign accent pass anything. Names withheld. |
Boss13: I know a female colleague that studied in the UK (the rural areas) but ended up with American accent.ok. |
Its not an accent, most of the time, it is diction. Nigerians dont pronounce words well. Yep. Even English teachers do not, I repeat, DO NOT, pronounce words well. I give you guys, even the OP herself this challenge, sit down in your room, lock your door, cut off the noise, pronounce these words and record it: 1. Cause - Course - Curse 2. Faith - Fate 3. Hear - Here - Hair 4. Pear - pair 5. Son - sun 6. Three - tree And so on. Then, you'd realize you don't even know how to pronounce these words correctly. if it is possible, upload the sounds, let us hear you. |
If you believe in blessings, you should extend the same courtesy to curses. Both are effective. |
Lanister: I'm an orphan.Orphans have mothers. so thank God for her otherwise you wouldnt be on this forum presently. |
Thank God for my lovely mum. Correct woman. |
herveze: Pls i need help about my stammering,i have been in this problem since my childhood,i have took many steps to find cure for it but unfortunately for me i cant find any cure even i google it.pls i need your help because i am going to interview on monday and i dont want to face the shame.I can see the problem is deeper than you say because e be like say your fingers self dey stammer. Solution 1: dont talk unless u are spoken to. 2: Dont argue with conductors 3: use simple words and very simple sentences when talking. 4. Before u respond to a queation or an Arsenal argument, think about what you want to say. It helps sometimes. 5. Finally, if symptoms persist after 3 years, visit a babalawo. I think they know what to do. Happy talking |
Donaldmike: I have been thinking about this two courses. Which is the better between the two and which one has more job prospect in Nigeria. Nairalanders, your insight is neededJudging by how your post is decorated with grammatical blunders, I would recommend English Language. In the process, you'd learn alot about Linguistics (provided you don't major in English). But IMO, none of these two courses makes so much sense. Many journalists, TV hosts/hostesses, anchors etc today did not study either of these courses yet they are superb at their jobs. Truth is, these courses are a sheer waste of your time and brain. As for the job prospects in Nigeria, Il y beacoup (plenty prospects). I mean, I have seen an Archi graduate working at Stanbic Bank as a cashier, a Philosophy grad teaching at a deaf and dumb school, an International Relations 2.1 grad teaching at a nursery school (dem plenty at Iyana Ipaja), an Engineering grad proudly selling fried "eja kika" in Mushin, a French grad attending to customers (mostly Yahoo bois) at a cyber cafe. So, the prospects are there. You could end up assisting the GM at a multinational oil company in Bonny Island, Rivers. But then, if I took one of these courses, I probably should expect to work as a teacher, a lecturer, an interpreter, a journalist, and the likes. Or, I set up my own biz. FYI: By "GM", I meant Gate Man. |
simpleseyi: If you are serious about this, meet me under Obalende bridge at 6pm today, lets settle this once and for all.No p. But let's change the venue. Let's meet at CMS. 6PM? No problem. |
