sicily4u: They have attacked THISDAY to prove that there were no DAILY TRUST for security in all COMPASS. THE NATION is in fear, weeping at her reflection on the MIRROR because she has no confidence in the LEADERSHIP of the land. NEXT from the NEWSWATCH and P.M. NEWS, she beckoned an OBSERVER to TELL MAGAZINE producers to be INDEPENDENT in their BUSINESS HALLMARK in order to change the PEOPLES DAILY lives. ...Experiences from the DAILY TIMES of NIGERIA through the PORT HARCOURT TELEGRAPH makes her a DAILY CHAMPION on a BUSINESS DAY. However they knew that she had a GUARDIAN who was also her VANGUARD. She believes in God despite the PUNCH on her faces, and as the DAILY SUN rises, so will God rise against them and make her TRIUMPH. God will hunt them until they confess to be NEW NIGERIAN(s). Ladies and Gentlemen of the press God is our TRIBUNE.

@Ilaje 44
Nice reading from a matured mind for a change. U do well my brother. Remain focused on the thread as you have done so far and ignore comments/pics of nuisance value. Its good to learn more about our various ethnic groups and appreciate the strength in our diversity.Poverty and problems know no tribe. We are all basically the same though NL ethnic bigots will always push even the most liberal person to the extreme.
Had a colleague at work who is an Ilaje man from Ondo state. His name sounds close to yours and very nice guy indeed. He speaks the language well but sees himself as a Yoruba man.I could understand most of what you were writing but Akoko is a different kettle of fish truly.

So sad, guy is really impatient. sad Obey your parents and try to forgive your husband. Since you are both comfortable, you can afford to seek alternative methods of conception. Your husband is likely to cooperate if you forgive and remain the loving and dutiful wife he married. Worry less about the salesgirl but be very prayerful. I pray that very soon your husband is able to decipher between a loving wife and an opportunist/backstabber and give you the love and respect that you deserve.
Family › Re: Seriously Contemplating A Divorce by delpee(f): 9:02pm On Apr 12, 2012
Forget about divorce. Try to find out what he really wants or why he is so upset in a loving manner and do the best you can to improve. Ronkebp was right in a way. Sometimes when a man is not so happy at home, he observes good qualities in other women more easily and draws a comparison. He doesn't necessarily have to have an affair to do that. He may even be venting out his anger based on some issues at work or other things that don't directly concern you - transferred aggression. As long as he is not violent and not harassing you to leave, please sit tight and make your marriage work. I see it as a passing phase which most women go through.

A woman who perseveres is the one who is blessed and thankful till old age. Even if you are financially capable, single motherhood is tough when you consider the mental stress of bringing up kids these days. Please work and pray. Talk to an elder that he respects if all your efforts fail. I pray that you will be here to tell us to thank God for you soon.

Really this is no time for bitterness and hard jokes. She deserves empathy IMO. Remember that not all news that we read are true just the same way i know Awo didnt die of rat poison. Some of these reports are deliberately designed to run people down for a purpose. Please let Bianca be. Her private affairs if any are between her and her God. May all those unnecessary curses never manifest in your life IJN.

May Ikembas soul RIP and may God be with Bianca and the family. Amen.
Christianity Etc › Re: Secret £14million Bible In Which 'jesus Predicts Coming Of Prophet Muhammad by delpee(f): 11:14pm On Feb 27, 2012
I once heard an argument about Jesus prediction of the coming of the Holy Spirit (comforter) being regarded as the coming of Prophet Muhammed. Now hes said to have mentioned him in name years after they are both gone!

BTW how come Muslims acknowledge the fact that Christ is coming back if hes an ordinary man like us? All these unnecessary arguments tire me. People should worship as they please and leave others to their beliefs. Its a free world afterall and each man will render account on his own life.

@Nn-a-Nn-a
Well done! Your research and analysis is very enlightening.

@Poster
Please have a chat with your wife to express your unfailing love for her while making her realise your worries and discomfort about her new spiritual status. IMO she is probably sad that you are not interested in being on the same level with her or that you dont appreciate that shes a blessing to the family. Keep reassuring her of your support and then let her know your fears and misgivings so she has a chance to loosen up and explain things to you. Actually, even without the spiritual angle, women are naturally gifted with intuitive powers. Developing it along spiritual lines makes it more powerful which is good for the family. Make the best of it.

On the issue of her attending your church, you can try but its something you should have agreed on before marriage or in early marriage. She appears so deeply enmeshed in Winners now and may resist the change. Everything is possible if you pray and trust God. You dont have to speak in tongues for your prayers to be answered, so dont feel intimidated. In any case, the bible states that there are different spiritual gifts. Dont allow religious differences ruin your marriage. She should understand that going by the the word of God, her religious duty should not impact negatively on her duties as a wife. I wish i could talk to her based on experience.

I empathise with you anyway and pray that you are able to sort this out and remain a loving couple bound together in Gods loving arms. Amen.
NYSC › Re: Corps Member Stabs Colleague At Send-off In Abeokuta by delpee(f): 10:39pm On Feb 17, 2012
The Pyrates Confraternity was a disciplined organisation. They came out in the open for major events on the campus to maintain order. Their "sailing" included walking the streets late at night with the street lights on so you could see them if you cared. Seems things went haywire in the early 80s when those who were rejected (according to those who claim to know) formed Eiye, Bucaneers etc. Pyrates stopped campus activities thereafter to avoid tarnishing their image. Unfortunately we still see all of them as having the difference of six and half a dozen.

WS certainly didnt set up a society that encourages senseless fights and murder.

that explains a lot.[/quote]Sorry for the mix-up. Was told that history is still available as an option at O and A levels, included as part of Social Studies at JSS and primary school levels. Not much of what we are learning on NL about the history of our various nationalities is reflected in what they are thought to the best of my knowledge. Current undergraduates/jambites can enlighten us further.

Methinks having a history section/subsection where we can read well researched stories of our heroes and villains past will afford many younger ones easy access to information about their roots rather than the biased and divisive stories told by some parents which breeds hatred and bitterness. We are better off understanding how we got to this point to plan how to move forward.

At least i have understood how and why Yorubas learnt to be more patient (the ignorant see it as cowardice), more accomodating, fight more diplomatically and strategically even when unarmed (e.g. June 12) and unite as neccesary despite our differences. The strong ties and language affinity of Ijeshas and Ekiti kete is also clear. I would like to learn so much more about Yoruba history along with those of other nationalities . Its good for the future.
Politics › Re: The Yoruba Kiriji Wars (1877 - 1893) by delpee(f): 12:31am On Feb 11, 2012
Interesting thread! Surely added value to the stories i have heard and the history books i read in the past.

@OAMJ4
Since history is no longer a subject in our schools, NL can create a history section where all threads relating to our origin and past activities can be posted. This in addition to the culture section which should focus more on arts, music and our way of life can serve as a good source of information to the younger generation. Also a good source of research findings for interested scholars.

Lets help our younger ones learn about their roots better. You have to consider the past to plan well for the future.

Please learn to stay awake naturally. Make good use of the hints given above. Too much caffeine and energy drinks are bad for the body. Read about them in health journals online like Web MD.

Drugs? Absolute no no! I remember students who went crazy during exams in my undergraduate days presumably after taking drugs. Be consistent from the beginning of the session/semester and you wont need to do crash program at exam time.

Business › Re: Nigerian Banks: I Think Gtb Is The Most Customer-friendly! by delpee(f): 11:30pm On Feb 04, 2012
GT is the best but they need to open more branches to improve on the crowded environment in their offices. The Bodija,Ibadan, Awo Rd, Ikoyi, Cath Mission, Lagos for e.g. are heavily crowded most days. Been to the Ota branch and agree with Seun. Seems they prefer people doing most things online which works well for the proposed cashless society.

Others i have used for various reasons and my observations:
FBN is the most improved bank IMO.
UBN-improving
UBA - poor and expensive services, even the current share price speaks volumes
ZENITH okay but with high charges
Diamond seems to have a crop of overworked and miserable staff
Stanbic - good for loans
Ecobank - good customer relations
Skye -long queues for deposits

Access- fewer customers and good documentation
Access- seems ok

May God protect and preserve them all and may God touch the soldiers hearts as well as guide the actions of the protesters. Lagosians never relent when fighting for their rights anyway.

Hope GEJ will understand that the issue transcends oil subsidy removal and politics. We need institutional changes and a REAL and SUSTAINED war against CORRUPTION. The 1.3trillion stolen funds in the name of subsidy in 9 months is enough to give people the courage to stand up for what is right.
