cjfavour: Can you please let me know who is being paid 5000 naira. |
Am in a rel dilemma here cause of what a girlfriend of mine told me yesterday. Whe i say girlfriend, i mean a friend being a girl, . Yesterday i was at her place to see her close friend when we got into a sort of discussion. Background analysis, she was to receive her call up letter yesterday, so i believe this influneced her to speak out. She told me jokingly but plainly that she had been waiting for me to ask her out from our hundred level days. And that she was pissed off when we got to 400 level and i asked another girl out. Said that she was quite happy when the other girl dissed me off. But thing is this, when we were in 100 level, my friend was asking her out. When we were in 400 level another friend of mine was asking her out. So what do i do? |
As the records put it, he is the first President to link up with the Nigerian electorates through Facebook. I have been thinking about this for sometime now and i feel that the time is ripe for we the electorates to pass across our message, our fears, our hopes and our dreams to the President Goodluck Jonathan. I propose to paste the link to this thread on his Facebook Wall and let him realise the extent of all our aspirations and fears. To send a clear cut message to him of what we, the people he is serving want. Thank you all as you add your voices to this, but please i would like to beg everyone posting to refrain from foul languages, insults but rather precise points and arguments for and against some of the Presidents policies. I will start with the subsidy. Mr President, while your proposal to remove the subsidy is commendable, because it will saves us some much needed money, the timing is bad, because there are no options on ground right now to cushion the effects that the subsidy removal will have on the nation. Already there are speculations of a massive showdown if the proposal is carried out. To forestall mishap, i would like to propose that your removal of the subsidy be gradual as you put in place the much needed options that would cushion its effect on the masses.(refineries etc) I recently read about your trip to Australia for the recent CHOGM held there. There have been accolades poured your way and i pray that you have both grace and strength to continue. We know you have the interest of we nigerians at heart and this is why i will ask you to monitor closely the proposed privatisation of the assets of PHCN. Recently there have been accusations that there are on going efforts by unpatriotic nigerians to frustrate your efforts, please do not allow them to succed. These for now are my contributions Mr. President. God bless Nigeria |
eGuerrilla:no doubt about that but right now its the TUC and the Urban Development bank that signed this agreement. And we also should understand the cycle of authority and responsibility. For instance,is it the job of the president of a nation to determine who to award the contract of garbage bins to? or where they should be gotten from. Something tells me that half the people who post things on nairaland are civil servants with barely enough to do. Thankfully they understand the workings of government. Take this for instance Price tags scare power investors from Discos Thursday, 10 November 2011 00:00 BY OUR REPORTERS E-mail Print PDF Analysts fear privatisation programme may suffer stillbirth A significant number of the credible bidders hoping to acquire the soon to be privatised distribution assets of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) are turning their backs on the process after the government mounted huge obstacles by way of unrealistically high price tags placed on the Discos, Business Day has learnt. An analyst following the privatisation process closely, said in most cases, the price tags set by the Federal Government are as high as two and half times the topline valuation arrived at by international experts who have participated in similar power privatisation programmes around the world. Government documents seen by Business Day showed that the Abuja Distribution Zone carries the highest price tag of N95 billion and it is followed by Ibadan at N76.6 billion and then Ikeja and Benin Distribution Zones at N73 billion each. Others are Enugu N69.7 billion, Kano N56 billion, Eko N55.7 billion, Port Harcourt N54.7 billion, Kaduna N51 billion, Jos N45 billion and then Yola, with the least valuation of N31.4 billion. Investors who pull through to be named preferred bidders, must pay 24 per cent of the winning bid price in 15 working days, and pay up the balance in no more than six months from the date of their bids being declared winner. There is yet another daunting roadblock ahead. Government insists that winners must commit to making additional investment in the region of 80 per cent of the winning bid, to restore life to the enterprises and ensure their commercial viability. “At such unrealistic valuations and aggressive demand for extra investment, Nigeria may well kiss good bye to any credible chance of selling these power assets and fast tracking the delivery of more power to the people,” a senior British investment banker told Business Day yesterday. Another analyst who spoke to Business Day, described the development as curious and offered three possible explanations. According to the Nigerian analyst, “One possibility is that some people in government are deliberately planning for a failed privatization, like in the case of NITEL, so they can then sell off the assets to their friends, or they simply do not want the privatisation of the power assets to succeed, so that government may once again open the door to frenzied public spending on power with the attendant corruption. Finally, it may well be that government is sincere but has been badly advised to set such unbelievable price tags.” To get private investment into its power sector, India set as its main objectives, the transfer of power assets to private investors, enthroning higher efficiency to spur better supply, sustainability of the sector, post privatization and the creation of quality jobs and in the process it adopted the incentivising private investors by a less aggressive valuation and allowing successful investors a fairly long window to pay for assets won. Industry players in Nigeria wonder why the government here has chosen to ignore well-tested tactics and has instead opted to tread a path that has consistently failed in the past, to produce the desired results. “We do not see real residual value in these assets and as such there is no realistic basis to support the valuation that the government is putting on the table”, said a leading consultant working in the power sector. ‘Even if you look at the assets from the point of view of future earnings, there is no chance that the pay back time will be less than 20 years. If this is the case, there is no way any international lender will be involved and if you were to find local funding, at today’s lending rates, that is simply a recipe for disaster.” He said there was some demonstration of patriotism on the part of Nigerian entities involved in the privatisation process, but warned that their foreign technical partners are telling their Nigerian partners that the valuation does not make sense. According to the consultant, “the government has to re-think this approach, otherwise, it will go the way of NITEL, refineries and Nigeria Airways.” The valuation for the discos, it was learnt, was done by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Council (NERC). It is based on expected revenue that is linked to a tariff of N25, and when subsidy is incorporated, it will be N22. The regulatory and privatisation agencies are aware of the bidders response to the valuation. They hope to bring down the valuation by bringing down the tariff, from N22 to N18 or N19. They are also aware that the firms interested in the discos are local firms, and may have peculiar funding structure, since they may have to access local banks for financing. They promised to look into the payment structure in this context, a source close to the BPE and NERC told BusinessDay. According to the source, one way they want to address this payment structure challenge, is for winners to take 51 percent of the stake, rather than 70 percent, and thus mean less initial outlay. http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/news/76-hot-topic/29605-price-tags-scare-power-investors-from-discos this tells me that while the man himself is willing, the people around him are his problem |
and just as i expected the dimwits we have on this site are already blaming jonathan. i mean seriously there is a difference between those who signed the deal and the FG but as expected those never do well, never see well will shift the blame on jonathan. When you are to get married and don't have money, please blame it on jonathan, infact blame your present predicaments on jonathan. I pray for you oooo. And can we please get somebody to change the title of this thread, its not the FG that actually signed that deal |
Maybe if those of you who are criticising would bother to remove the veil covering your eyes, you would see that djustice stated his point. Why don't you try same and stop needless banterin |
its a good thing because here in idanre ondo state, there is 24 hour light supply.there was a time when they cut the supply for six hours.i went to get fuel and was about putting the gen on,when the light was restored, had to use the fuel four days later. Anyways, today marks almost three years i posted last on nl,and i must say that some people have still managed not to disappoint me with their behaviour.its either they are pessimistic attitude.if we have people exhibiting nepotistic ideals and other bad things on a mere website, what about real life.am not preaching but i hate to even think of these people as patriotic to any country or cause |

@Becomrich, i have been following all your post. Makes for interesting reading but you don't seem to know the history of the yoruba race, else you would not suggest all that you have been suggesting. Benin republic was formerly known as Dahomey who were subjects to the Yoruba empire. So its virtually impossible. And Nigeria has no reason to face another civil war except you are going to instigate one yourself |
luvola, i have been tracking you, and now that i have gooten you, nothing will stop me from sending farouk to you. Compliments man.seriously i miss our banter. Waddup wit you? |
becomrich;:Really this is preposterous, to even think that your parents are nigerians, hold it a min, i guess you are one of those bastardised idiots who parade themselves around as nigerians with the green passport. I dont mean to insult you cos i have barely started but Nigerians are no terrorist. We are a great nation and good people. No other country can boast of having the amount of ethnic groups we have and still stay united so, never ever in your life till you go back to school for your "o" levels call Nigerians terrorist |
