O my God! What is all this? If I continue any further discussion in this room, I will have a brain tumor! You complain that Nigerians are leaving their country because there are no jobs. The Indians and Lebanese that are coming to Nigeria, is it to come and look at Olumo rock? The thing we're missing is innovation! We wait for South Africans to build Shoprite, we wait for Indians to build Park n Shop, we wait for Israelis to build Mega Plaza, we wait for Lebanese to start up Zartech. Yet there are still a lot of areas that are yet to be explored. Look at my neighbour, instead of him seeing the invasion of foreigners as a bad thing, he looked at it as a good thing. The boy that has been farming catfish for 3 years without progress. He saw these Chinese as an opportunity to make money. Begged them to help him acquire Chinese catfish and last year, he made in 5 months, what he's made in the previous 2 years. They bought the fish back from him at outrageously exorbitant prices and they are begging him to continue. Now he's acquired just acquired a land in Epe. Small boy wey I senior O! Yet the rest of you want to look at this whole thing, this inflow of foreign investment as a bad thing. Somebody used their blood, sweat and reputation to build a company and now you want the government to dictate who they will employ. Where you dey look when Seun start Nairaland? Why don't you tell him to close down and go and request Indian job. The Indians are taking away all OUR jobs. Is there any job that is classified as Nigerian Job? If you really have a Masters and you really want to work, I suggest you contact me because I'm working on a new innovation I want to propose to Disc Communication. But to work with me, you have to strive and suffer like me, you have to think up ideas and make proposals to corporate bodies that will pick interest in it. You have to believe that nobody is going to give you anything not even God. You have to get everything yourself because he has provided all that you need. Just fresh out of college, me and my crew proposed to a group of companies to sponsor a contemporary dance event and that was how I made my first and only N1m ever. I'm currently pitching First Bank to sponsor a national poetry contest which will cost them N5million but will rake in more than N20million, and people are in here discussing how they will raid Indian jobs. Sorry, Ndo O. Then finally I'm going to pitch either Hi-TV or Disc Communications a new system of Pay-per-view TV that is simple yet has never been done in the world. It is worth N300 million yearly. Don't sit down and demand jobs in an Indian firm. Then when you have your own firm, you can decide not to hire Indians. Nobody will kill you. Yes. Admitted sometimes I submit proposals and the companies steal my Idea without compensation. This September Premiere League, it was M Squad that discussed the idea with Osmi so they can get sponsors together. But OSMI went it alone. Should we sit down and start crying? Should I go to an Indian company to start claiming job. No! There are millions of new ideas the human brain can churn out in a lifetime, and am not going to waste that. So let sleeping Indians lie. Use you brain to do something. A masters degree and no food to eat? Tufiaa! I reject it! Me I've already told you people. Let me just become president. It is not only foreign coach you people will see. Foreign ministers and Foreign traditional rulers!!! Even foreign Babalawo if I see that they can do the job better. |
@MAMAJAMA All infantry training for the Nigerian military is practical. Either inside the Nigerian Jungles or Sierra Leone, or Liberia. A lot of them die. Only the best survivors remain. The Navy, Airforce, Medical and Engineering personnel recieve lots of theoretical training but the infantry soldiers learn take their first and subsequent tests on the field. The Niger-Delta matter is very political. If the army is unleashed on those people, there will be a massacre resulting in the deaths of not less than 7 million people and it will not last long. That kind of disaster is what will finally dry the in from the pen that is trying to write Nigeria's name in the good books. |
@degoat please go and create you own jobs and see whether the government will order you to give it to Indians or see whether the Indians will barge into your company and snatch the job from you. Can anybody impose on Dangote the Nationality of staff to employ? These Indians have worked for their reputation go to the UK and see the zeal in employing Indians and Pakistanis. It is because of their efficiency and dedication to work. No strings attached. The case of Nigeria is even different when it is that it is these foreigners that create the jobs they have. Do you want these Indians and Lebanese to create jobs for themselves and their families only to relinquish it to you because you're a Nigerian. Before they came and started the business, where were you? And you Nigerians that say government should give the private sector a freehand to self regulate. You want to go back and say government should dictate to companies who to employ? Haba Nigerians! I know sometimes these Indians hire their relatives that don't have better paper qualification than the Nigerians looking for the same job. But what has paper qualification got to do with people like Bill Gates being efficient at what they do? With all their nepotistic employment practices, how many of these Indian run companies have folded up? You have not seen anything yet. Shebi China just discovered Nigeria. White Zimbabwean farmers are here too. Nobody is obligated to give you a job. So hurry now and start a profitable business of your own so you can employ other Nigerians. There are different enterprises that have not been explored yet. Research now and start something before the Chinese come in and saturate every sphere. Abeg O! By the time I start running my own firm if I see that there's a hopelessly dumb white guy, but because of his skin colour, doors open for us when we're pitching deals, I will employ that guy immediately and select the Nigerian applicant. |
Yeah I know him personally. His name's Andrew. |

I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can give me something what fighting for. A rush of blood to the head. - Cold Play being an R n B cat myself, I was tripped to hear those lyrics from rocksters. |
Po Deep, I say the guy is underground. That means you most probably don't know him. He is not into all this commercial shit. Works in the Stock Exchange by day, and murders whack ass rappers at Night. Kinda like Batman. He's hot. Believe me, he's hot. |
The Matrix was about the best movie ever made by man. And just when there was no moving forward in Hollywood they brought in several new concepts in movie making that Hollywood should be thankful for. I think a monument should be built somewhere at the outskirts of Hollywood where Larry & Andy Wachowski would be worshipped. I even had to buy the script and read it. There was absolutely no need for Reloaded and Revolutions. I still watched the trilogy this morning and it's still the same conclusion: the matrix ended in Matrix. The matrix reloaded and revolutions are just Nollywood-type concept milking ventures. |
There are some very good videos. Anything from the directors Dj Tee or Wudi Awah are world class. They've done such jobs as: stylee kolomental pick it up ololufe shake it like that tongolo No be God? I work in production in the Music video production sector of Nigeria. You must admit that some Nigerian Music Videos are by far better than any Nigerian home video. even of better quality than those master P's No Limit home videos. We'll soon take the movie industry by storm and kick these whack ass punks out. It's just that we're taking time to acquire new equipment, instill new work ethics, breed new actors and acquire new innovative script. Imagine a situation where a 5 minute music video takes 2 days to shoot in Nigeria, meanwhile a 1 hour home video takes 9 days. A 5 minute music video spends 4 months in post production while a 1 hour homevideo spends 2 weeks in "cut and paste". |
It is one tout, MANEX, the guy has gathered more than 30 girls in one so called acting school and movie agency. After the guy has been sleeping with these girls for years and no progress for them, he finally thinks up this idea. There's not going to be any N5million and the girls are not going to complain because they were told from the start. All they get is publicity which could kick off their acting or modelling careers, and a small salary for appearance. These girls are ras, illiterate and backward. They were brought to one video shoot we had earlier this year and the editor has already decided to edit them out of the final video. All they did throughout the video was eat, steal (yes. some people's thinks got missing in the dressing room) and pair themselves up with a guy to have sex with. Angels my black arse! If those are what angels are like, please cut me a little space in hell. |
Most of the actors did not read theatre arts or take acting classes that is why they can be very bold and confident when it comes to dazing fellow actors with real slaps. But they get cold feet when the time comes to show love. The solution though lies in the contract they signed. For someone as subtil as myself, when on the job, I suggest these actors are given a 5000 page contract to sign before they get on set. On page 3619 will be the nudity clause that will also include kissing and lovemaking. If you can't do it, we bring in a body double and that will mean a cut on your revenue as the actor. I know these boneheads won't read the whole contract, and they won't want to lose 20% of their pay to a kissing stunt double. So they'll do it. And we'll keep retaking scenes till they get it right. Them dey mad. Them don learn how to give got slap but dem no sabi give ordinary kiss. |
@orikinla You're doing a good job with you documentary. Myself, I will be shooting my first movie this year and it is going to be based on reality. The actors may not necessarily wear skimpy outfits because their costumes will conform with contemporary fashion in nigeria so it my be revealing or they may all be in boubous. That is for the costumier to decide. However, the will be nudity at least once in the movie because naturally we get naked at least twice a day. Then there will be sex. I mean buck naked butts and titties sex. Because in reality to me, people have sex at least once a week, and the movie is going to span a period of about 100 years. So at least 2 sex scenes. And besides people, most Nigerian home videos have a censors board rating of 18 and above. So why don't I just go all out a maximally utilise that rating. Meanwhile, Orikinla, I'm a Unit Production Manager, you got space for one on your crew? |
Yeah. I think the best ad we've had in a long time in this country is the OMO advert: the oil go come out, e go stain my body. The blood go come out, e go stain my body. The smoke go come out, e go stain my body. All these less-brained advert agencies will not press for OMO to carry that advert to other countries. Yet this multilateral companies will bring advert that have been successful in other African countries to Nigeria. So tay that time when GLO hadn't brought out excellent quality nigerian adverts, MTN claimed that good picture quality adverts could not be shot in Nigeria because of the sun. Whether na American sun dem dey use now, dem in tell me. Anyway, my very worst still remains the CELTEL "me2u" it was just a template with no theme and no direction. You can use that video as a montage to advertise a clipper! |
@KD69 you're not well for insulting people that criticize what is not proper. @UPRISING you are not a good person O! All those titles you just released don't you know that one of them might have seen it and they are now currently in production? Na wah for you O! Anyway, the one I remember as my most terriblest is: "Romeo Must Die. But Why?" myself I plan to shoot my first movie in Nigeria soon. Then after shooting it, my next movie will be a spoof of all Homevideos. It may be about 5 hours long (because there's so much to spin off from each Nigerian Homevideo) but it's all going to be on 1 DVD. And I'm either going to call it "WATCH OUT FOR PART TWO" or "TO GOD BE THE GLORY" because these are the 2 slogans that accompany every home video. Anybody that's feeling me should hook up about November this year and let's make it happen. It'll be 1 million times worse than scary movie. |
So this time you're stealing from shakespear? When will you realise that on the internet, you can't steal and hide it on the same internet. You're not yet that good. Stop stealing poems. Poetry is not your talent. I repeat, POETRY IS NOT YOUR TALENT!!! |

I suspect I know the people that organised that show. All those girls featured in one music video we shot early this year. They are ras, daft and all just video hos that wanted to sleep with every guy on set. All of a sudden, I tune my tv to see they've all become angels. Na wah O! Anyway, I am happy for them. Afterall their lives are moving forward. The entertainment industry will also move forward because, young girls sitting at home will realise that if these girls that can hardly speak English can have they kind of opportunity, they too can do better. It just one of those modelling/acting agencies that arranged it. But anyway there are some good ones like the Gulder Ultimate Search and Big Brother Nigeria. The reason why they are so many is that they are very cheap to produce and most of the contestants participate free as opposed to actors that collect an upfront payment. Also, they make a lot of money off viewers' votes and text messages. |
@musbaunow you will never change. So in your mind, average Nigerian per capita income is less than $1? Hmmm. I pity your economics teacher. First, there is nothing like average per capita income. Per Capita Income is already an average. Oya, take your pencil and paper. Time for MTH 101: in 2006, GDP= $180 billion in 2006, population= 130 million $180billion/130million = $1,385/person also known as $1,385 per capita. Even CIA that is always condemning Nigeria, they agree that our per capita income is about $1,400. Which one you dey? @musbaunow there is no country in this world where the per capita income is less than $1. People just don't want to pay tax. If Nigerians were declaring income tax all this extra taxes will not arise. The issue is not to complain about the VAT. The issue is to complain about VAT being paid on non-value added products. When a raw material such as ankara material is bought by a designer and made into a dress, value has been added to to that material so the price will change and so government charges value added tax on that income of the designer resulting from adding value to the raw material. But why should there be value added tax on products like pure water when the water is not bought by the company in the first place, and it is not produced into any new product? Why should Nigeria charge value added tax on a versace dress in which the value was not added in Nigeria? Why should there be value added tax on phone calls? What is the initial product of the phone call, and what value is then added? And the companies do not really complain as they pass on the burden of the tax straight to the consumer, even going one step further to round up the figures and make some extra profit for themselves. It is okay to say VAT, but only on vatable goods. Am sure they are collecting VAT on flight tickets. Are the planes built in Nigeria? It is even products like Garri, of which value is added by processing from cassava and foods that should be VATted. Very soon, they will ask me to pay VAT for admiring a beautiful woman. Anyway, pay VAT where VAT is payable. But do not give to Caesar what does not belong to Caesar. |
@vigasimple now we're talking the same thing O jare. All I ask is to let the people know that the problem is difficult so they will come prepared. Look at our roads. When Julius Berger was building perfect roads. One of those ministers back then just deceived a lot of local contractors into believing they can do it too. What do we have for roads today, contrary to the Julius Berger and Costain roads that had a concrete layer of about 10 inches thickness before an asphalt layer of 15 inches, we're now having no layer of concrete on our roads at all. The ground is just cleared, graded (smoothened) a 1 inch layer of a mixture of non-adhesive tar and granite is layed on top and steam-rolled. Some of them don't even know that just like houses, roads are meant to have concrete foundations. So no need for us to disagree. The point is that a bush of thorns should not be disguised to look like a bed of roses. |
@Ndipe abeg, $300 na cash O! @ Seun, what are we writing about? Abeg I need that N33,000 and I mean right now. |
Believe me, I'm not deny that it is Indian jobs for Indians. That is even small compared to French jobs for French. It wasn't till a multi-ethnic French team won the world cup that the eased off a little. It is still very bad sha in France. What am saying is that if Indians create jobs and give it to Indians, it is their right. They created the jobs. If Nigerians produce jobs and refuse to give Indians, it's our right. The company I work with, it is owned by a Nigerian here in Lagos and he doesn't employ any Indian and is not even willing to, because he doesn't see how being Indian can move his company forward. |

Yeee! So they have finally finished. Thank God. You guys still don't understand what am taking about lack of funding of which these funds are being channeled into advertising on foreign programs. When You Are Mine was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and some of the major Coffee production companies in Nigeria. They provided funds for the producers of these snaps to put them into production. If a Nigerian television production house can get $100,000 from MTN, they will come out with something excellent. Just try Storm Productions. They virtually produced BBN without the South Africans once they had basic funding from Endemol and Guinness Nigeria. Abi didn't you see Idols W.A made in Nigeria. What stops them from putting this same effort into the production of soap operas? The fact that some lazy Nigerians have imported South American ones at very cheap rates. Anyway, glory be to God. I saw someone's post that they've finished one. Shebi Yar'Adua will ban too. We will definitely propose these dramas for banning. |
My friend, what is the matter with you? If you go to a company owned by Nigerians in India and they refuse to employ you, is that not a Nigerian problem? The Indians working here are they not mostly working in companies started by Indians? Artee Group, Cakes n Bakes, High Point, Millenium Interiors are they not employing Nigerians here? You should realise that it is impossible for these Indian companies in Nigeria not employ Nigerians at all. Their top execs have to be Indians because I cannot have a hardworking brother looking for work, then I will give you the job because I'm in your country. Go and start your own business in their country and employ your own people. It is your human right: freedom of association. |
Nigeria has no such agreement with the US. There's even no space to build the AFRICOM in Nigeria. And by principle, you do not build your foreign regional command inside the regional power because the plan is actually to checkmate that regional power. So they just started their parambulation to get reactions. Finally, if at all the AU agrees to it, it is going to be in Liberia. |
When I saw this post, I was tempted to call the originator of this post a liar. But after researching thoroughly, I realised it was true. Being originally a muslim myself, I still remember how to read basic arabic. The words written on the Naira note have no bearing whatsoever with Islam or Allah. For instance the word on the N10 bill is Naira Goma. Which means ten Naira. Let's assume the word ten Naira was translated into Yoruba : Naira Mewa and transcribed in Hebrew. Does this give any glory to Jehovah? Does it have any religious implications? This is another opportunity for these people to cause religious strife and they are not wasting anytime at all. In the early days of Nigerian development, when the English colonised Nigeria, Southern Nigerians had no written alphabets so English alphabets were introduced to them and till today yoruba, ibo and many other southern Nigerian languages are written in English Alphabets. In Northern Nigeria however, the had Arabic alphabets to write their language in. So the hausa language was written with Arabic alphabets. The fact that it's Arabic doesn't mean it's holy. Those days you'd have to write a love letter to your wife in Arabic. That has nothing to do with Allah. This being the case, the amounts were written using Arabic to transcribe the hausa language so that the majority of hausas who were well educated in arabic will not be unable to read Naira notes like common illiterates just because of language barrier. But the CBN made a mistake. Instead of also transcribing the ibo and yoruba languages in English alphabets, they just went ahead to print "five Naira", "ten Naira" et al. As of today, I don't think there is any school remaining in Nigeria where the courses are taugh in Arabic anymore. When I was in JSS 1 in Kano, I went to a public school where most teachers lectured in hausa. But not using Arabic letters. They now use English alphabets too. Read hausa books and newspapers and see how many are written in Arabic letters. Even the famous Maganan Jari Ce is written in hausa language transcribed in English Alphabets. So everybody is moving forward, why not the CBN. In fact, I personally do not support the inscription of any local dialect on Naira notes. If after 50 years of taking up a national language, somebody can still not speak it, or at least even speak pidgin English, it is not the Central Banks fault. Finally, I just have to say this. I always try to be tribe neutral and not fix any stereotype to a tribe, but for God sake, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YORUBA PEOPLE!!! CBN removes Naira Goma from Naira notes, then 2 yoruba men and 1 hausa lead their people to reject it. What has Naira Goma contributed to the lives of Yoruba people in the past 50 years? How can Adegbite and Arisekola be leading this cause? |
@Big B1 and the supporters of his philosophy. You people have come again in your long and arduous search for handouts. So now it's not government, it is now Indians. God please deliver Nigerian youths. May they be able to make something for themselve. O lord, even as they continue to misdirect their energies at blaming hardworking foreigners, may you not miraculously provide them with jobs of their own, but give them the energy to create jobs for themselves and employ other fellow Nigerians. Amen. Ehen back to the issue, there is no Indian taking any job away from a Nigerian. If an Indian builds a company from scratch and decides to employ his fellow Indian, that is his own wahala. It's just the same as Obalende Suya in Jand will definitely employ more Nigerians. Then also some multinationals prefer foreigners because of their high standard of work ethics. When the whole world pursuing and achieving perfection, Nigerians are still claiming that nobody is perfect. By the time we start using nuclear energy in Nigeria, you put a Nigerian there and tell him to increase water levels in the reactor chamber by exactly 2 litres, at exactly 2 hours interval, and we're all dead! There are some Nigerian perfectionists though, and nobody is taking any job away from them. |
Just came in here to say: MAN U till die |
In January 2000 the Replicans took over power in the U.S.A. under the leadership of George W. Bush as head of state, commander in chief. By July 2000 there was widespread outcry regarding the declining economy. Suddenly, BOOM! : 9/11. Everybody turns their frustrations from a failed economy to an already much hated Bin Laden. The war in Afghanistan begins and everybody forgets about the declining economy and concentrate on the killing or capture of Bin Laden in order to bring him to book. After commencement of the Afghan war on October 7th 2001, a year and 5 months gone by with no sign of bringing Bin Laden to book, Americans start complaining and expressing their disappointment, then remember that the economy is still not getting any better. Before you blink, war is declared on Iraq that same month. Everyone forgets every other thing. Even the president said he didn't care about Bin Laden anymore, reversing his comment only when he was scolded from every corner. Anyway, the Iraqi war really worked. For 4 years now, the average American mind has been fully occupied. But recently though, people are beginning to wake up and question the situation of the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan and the rise in fuel price. BLAM! Confrontation with Russia. Based on this whole Missile Defence System that caused a stand-off ever since 2000/2001. Now what the advisers of the Bush regime have not told them is that this new diversionary gimmick could result in a Nuclear war and ultimately the end of the world. That's my word! |
