Best male: Frank Edoho. His control of language is impeccable.
Music/Radio › Re: Ruggedy Baba Vs Mode 9 by denex: 6:31pm On Jun 06, 2007
Mode 9 is hiphop. His lyrics and style, the type of chorus he uses in his rhymes are reminiscent of the Bronx when hiphop was still true to it's roots. He has not desecrated or like they say, commercialized his rap. I rate mode 9 better than rappers like Fabulous and all these new talkers/rappers in yankee and even all those new southside acts. Mode 9 ranks in my world top 20 rappers unlike Rugged man who just manages to make my top 5 behind mode 9, freestyle, sauce kid and God the rapper(underground).
Politics › Re: Nigerian Lawyers And Judges Wearing White Wigs by denex: 6:03pm On Jun 06, 2007
I don't like anything symbolizing colonialism, but the truth is that the attire makes them look the part. I wouldn't take a court seriously where the judge is wearing a dashiki.
Have you seen the AU court, their outfit makes me want to laugh.

Meanwhile point of correcting: the wigs originated from England and was passed along with their legal system to all their colonies, but law itself did not originate from England. There was law in ancient Egypt and kingdoms before it.

Those of you complaining because 2face speaks slangs in his music should first go and tell 50 cent to use formal english in his rap.
Is the man writing a job application or he's singing pop?
I write a lot of songs in plain English but that is because English is my very first language and I grew up speaking it in my home, my school and among my friends yet still I add a lot of hip hop slangs and ebonics.
Latino musicians spit Latino slangs, African American rappers spit hood slangs. Why won't 2face sing his lyrics with slang content. When Fela was singing in slangs and pidgin, nobody complained.

I noticed your second poem ever posted on this thread was taken from the website
www.consumating.com

the others are made up of lines individually littering every where. So I know you developed e unique technique of assembling poems. All the same sha, that very next poem you submitted after toni, it was from someone else's blog. So personally, I'm afraid of posting my poem here against the danger of it being dismantled and reassembled on some other website as another person's work.

The fund that multinationals are supposed to give for advertising on Nigerian Soaps is being used in sponsoring foreign snaps.

I say the Gardener's daughter is based on unrealistic and fantastic tales of love that are a far cry from reality.

Politics › Re: The Nigeria Army: Best In Land Troops Worldwide? by denex: 9:28am On Jun 06, 2007
The Nigerian army is not th best in Infantry. The statement people are trying to quote is that Nigerian soldiers working in the UN peace keeping force, after being retrained and equipped with standard weapons body armour and support services, are among the top 3 most efficient. Including Bangladesh and Pakistani Soldiers. Also the age of Nigerian soldiers in the UN Peace Corps shows that they are well experienced. Most of them are averagely 30years old.
Unlike ground soldiers of Japan and the US where you can still find 18year olds.

Anyway, about this same rating, it was in a year that the UN assessed Nigerian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani soldiers the best 3 in infantry. The list did not say forever and ever. Every year a new assessment is made. There was a time Swiss soldiers were the best, there was a time it was French soldiers.

All the same, if the Nigerian Army can provide the kind of weapons, armour and aerial support as the ones provided by the UN, no doubt we'll have one of the best infantries in the world.

And by the way, people should not judge reality by watching action movies. In action movies, the US won the Vietnam war, which they actually lost, in action movies, the US and south Korea won the Korean war, which they actually lost, and in movies we see Chuck Norris and Rambo alone fighting millions of VietKong or North Korean soldiers, but the war veterans have admitted it was a 1 on 1 affair. So let's seperate reality from cinematography.

As big as the Virgin Empire of Sir Richard Branson, he's worth $8,000,000,000. You people should not be mentioning that word billion in vain. Be calling it with respect.

Meanwhile, the world bank has totally dissociated itself from that list which emanated from yahoo boys and has been in circulation for almost 2 years now.
Just search google for: world bank bamaiyi.

There the true story is. Stop contriving fallacious theorems.

Dangote is the richest man worth $2.2billion Naira in terms of his company shares. Then add his personal estate. Maybe a total of $2.5 billion. Mike Adenuga's shares in etb, Globacom, Conoil et al is $1.8 billion plus personal estate and properties, maybe a grand total of $2.0 billion.

@Wafarian

it is you that loves suffering. Most of us are here in Nigeria because we still feel things are manageable and that they will improve so I'm not anywhere in the NEST 8 years.
You that have experienced the DOSSES of suffering, why are you still hanging in here? Abi dem don close Togo border?
By the way, who are "THEY"? Is your father not old enough to govern your state? By the time I meet the qualification to govern, I'm not going to wait for any THEM or THEY.
And by the way, do you need foreigners to come and tell you that you're being treated badly. Foreigners that ask first what they can do for their country before they ask what their country can do for them. They are now the ones telling you to ask for what you country can do for you without planning to do anything for their country.
Can't you see the Chinese working despite the fact that they are expatriates see how diligently they work when they come to Nigeria. They don't form. Some of them wear rags ride Okada just to make sure they do something for themselves. Why can't they go to China (the world's 3rd richest country) to ask for their share of the wealth?
Person papa na billionaire and E dey wear designer clothes, your papa dey struggle to make sure you put caftan for your body and you let that spoilt brat convince you say your papa dey maltreat you.
You are talking about talents gone down the drain, the talents that did not go down the drain; 2face, RMD, Kanu Nwankwo, Agbani Darego, Genevieve, Cobhams, Aki & Pawpaw; was it government that developed them?
If two midgets can get up and decide to make something good for themselves despite all the DOSSES of suffering, if a blind man like Cobhams can harness his talent to live an above average life, what of an able bodied man? My friend stop being lazy and stop believing it's because of "THEM".
It is people like you that were saying pope John Paul 2 was the AntiCHRIST. The man will soon change or turn to the BEAST, up till the point the poor man died.
You are the one I see WAISTING your time in this country. Later you will say it is because of Obasanjo that your English is so bad. Then when you have premature ejaculation, you will say it's Yar'Adua or as Lucky Igbinedion put it: if you can't impregnate your wife, you will say it's government.

Stop complaining, stop WAISTING your time and stop recieving DOSSES of suffering. Go to Togo, Malaysia or the US, where the government will put money in your pocket and give you DOSSES OF ENJOYMENT.

We will manage our dull looking president and we will contribute what we can to this country rather than ask what she can contribute to us.

I am certain you've long been out of this country. With all due respect. The situation on ground in Nigeria right now is that there are grave similarities between a Naira Coin and Leprosy. No body wants to touch it, no body wants to see it, nobody wants to have it, and nobody wants to know somebody that has it.

And by the way why, why, why. Why mint a N2 coin? What can one N2 coin do that two N1 coins cannot?

I said the plan by the government to bring in IPPs to generate and distribute electricity is simple plan. I didn't say that the process of generating and distributing electricity was simple. Watch the documentary on the construction of the kainji dam or China's three Gorges dam.

When you make people believe things are much easier than they really are, you end up sending them in ill-prepared and frustrated when they see no results.
Fill them in on the realities so that only those that have perfected the art can apply. At this point, one of the Independent Power Projects has been built by Siemens and will be run by them, unlike the former case of NEPA RUNNING DOWN machinery.

@SEFAGO

There are about 100,000 LEGAL NIGERIAN IMMIGRANTS in Houston Texas alone. I Searched in google: "Nigerians in Houston" con't omit the quotation marks when searching it.

So if there are 100,000 legal Nigerian immigrants in Houston, what do you think is the total number of Nigerian immigrants, both legal and illegal, what do you think is the total population of Nigerians in Houston, both immigrant and 2nd and 3rd generation Citizens? Then the total number of Nigerians in Texas. Then in Jersey, Chicago and the other states which are not of so much interest in Nigerians.
But don't tell me there's a state in this world where there are no Nigerians. There are plenty of Nigerian fishermen in Alaska, so why not Kansas. Please ask Omofolabi Ajayi Soyinka of the university of Kansas, Department of theatre and film, whether there are any Nigerians in Kansas.

And why would a lot of Nigerians be in DC? Especially illegal ones would they want to be in the state where the Federal Government resides.

Abeg DaHitler got the figure just right.

Hey, that's me, that's me. I'll read your book and prove that I did! lol. Just playing with ya. Don't just hand your book to anyone. This is Nigeria.
You have to print out the manuscript and have the proofreader at your place to do it. Don't let anybody take a copy of your book out of your sight and for whatsoever reason, do not send anybody a soft copy of your book via email. Unless of course you want to see your book in stores before you launch it.
And also don't use proofreaders like me who will leave our work and start suggesting content. But I'll do it for free. Oh sorry over a couple of beers that is.

I think in the general elections, if Obama is pitted against Clinton, he may win. But within the democratic caucus, the party will weigh the risk between putting out an AFRICAN man and an american WOMAN as their candidate and I really can't say who they'll choose being that neither has ever won the presidential elections before, but I know the REPUBLICANS will surely vote a white woman.
Politics › Re: President Yar'adua Is Dull? by denex: 8:25am On Jun 05, 2007
@angel101

I said we can do it if we know HOW. There's no debating whether the legislators will play ball or not. The constitution provides for the people to ORDER their legislators around, not for the legislators to decide whether to play ball. And as for those who want to wiggle through with plenty, plenty legal grammar, we can recall them, arrange new elections immediately and send new representatives that will play ball.

Now how you impose your will on legislators is not by complaining, writing articles in newspaper, writing them letters or staging protests and strikes. You use UNIONS. Everybody belongs to a union. If you have a in your union, members should sign a petition the various union leaders take to the state house of assembly or the senate, a copy to the legislator and one copy to the electoral body.
It is after these 3 main bodies disagree that the petition holds the will of the masses that the masses can start publishing in newspapers, holding protests and rallies, and going on strike.
There are more than 1 million labour unions, student unions, chambers of commerce, clubs and associations in Nigeria.

So play ball or no play ball, the will of the people must prevail. They just have to know how.
Politics › Re: Electricity - Is There No Solution by denex: 2:58am On Jun 05, 2007
Do not call me your fellow countryman if you chose to ignore the plan to eradicate the electricity problems by licensing IPPs. It is a very simple and easy plan borrowed from the success of GSM companies.

Having studied CRS211 (Principles of crop production), CRS221 (Crop Physiology, Anatomy and taxonomy), CRS311 (Arable crop production), CRS401 (Permanent arms production techniques), CRS402 (Arable crop production techniques) and finally CRS403 (Horticultural crop production techniques).
I took internships at the headquarters Nigerian Institute For Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) and the headquarters of the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RINN)

There is totally no connection between cropping and generating/transmitting electricity. Alternating Current and Zea mays or Manihot utilisima? At all, lai-lai, I don't agree.
You're comparing planting a seed with what? I planted my first maize seed when I was less than 5 years old, but I only learnt how to read and accurately translate those figures on my meter only last year.
Electricity generation must be one of the most difficult things after Rocket science and Nuclear Science.

Na all this kain simplistic, fantasy based thinking kill a great scientist like Marie Curie.

First off, about the header on this thread, the government does not put food on the table anywhere in the world except in Nigeria. Open a google page and type: Free Food Kano. Yet you people say government did not put food on the table. Is government meant to put food on the table or provide avenues for the populace to put food on their own tables themselves.
Next thing we know, some of you will complain that government did not flush shit from the toilet. We agree that government should be the people's servant but it doesn't mean they should serve you food on your dining table.

@dayokanu
as for you, I believe you should be stripped naked in a public place for trying to suggest that NEPA should connect a cable outer space in order to power our satellite. All satellite outer space are powered by generators, mostly solar generators. Why should Nigeria be different? Admit it, for singling out Nigeria and questioning its decision to use a generator to power its satellite, you hate this country.

@Larufa

I no gree say you dey work for ICT sector O!
On Your choice of stable electricity over a communication satellite, I ask you: with N20,000 ($160 ) you can get a small generator and provide your own electricity but assuming you had $10,000,000, you can't launch your own mini communications satellite.

@alpontif

you have been on nairaland and have watched people post messages on the site. Do you absolutely believe that there is NO SUSTAINABLE INTELLECTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN NIGERIA. Why people just like to dey blow big grammar like this. If you say no infrastructure, I would agree, if you say no sustainable infrastructure, I may agree. But no sustainable INTELLECTUAL infrastructure. If there's one thing Nigeria has in excess, it's intellectual infrastructure.
By the way, when we were driving cars you didn't think we were aping the west. When our musicians started hiphop, we weren't aping the west. When GSM and internet came, we weren't aping the west. Now we want to go further and you call us apes. I thought the ape would be the one who suggests a halt from furthering our embrace of technology.

Please, i beg you people in the name of Almighty God, stop watching these types of programs it does not teach lessons of life, except of course if you're moving to Mexico.
Secondly, these types of programs reduce growth in the entertainment industry and shrinks jobs.
Companies have to advertise their goods and services on TV. They seek interesting programs that they can advertise their programs on. These TV stations, instead of organizing captivating programs such as Big Brother Nigeria and Channel O dance Africa that will give Nigerian youths the opportunity to showcase their talent, provide jobs for Nigerian Cameramen, Directors, Producers and TV crewmen, they will go and buy cheap foreign soap opera based on impossible unrealistic and fantastic love stories.
They are waiting for South Africans to come and develop the Nigerian television sector.

Please stop watching them. Stop blocking opportunities in Nigeria and promoting stagnation and poverty among Nigerian youths who are willing and able to work.

Later una go say government no create jobs.

It is true that the west is after Mugabe. Only recently, Australia too announced publicly that it is contributing $15 million towards helping the opposition topple Mugabe's government.
However, all this is secondary to the fact that a man that took the mantle of leadership on the 14 of March 1980 (when I was preparing for my first birthday) should still be ruling by now whith no clear end in sight?
Oh, I meant with no end in sight?

Maybe Obasanjo should have ticked of the west so they will be after him. Maybe he would have secured victory for his 3rd term.

I repeat, MUGABE MUST GO! West is after him, East is in front of him, white farmers hate him O, black poultry like him O, MUGABE MUST GO!
I think the statement is even too mild. MUGABE MUST GO NOW!

We will make sure this man is not in government by 2008.

@doncartel,

You're even underplaying the matter:

Even if Mugabe can solve all the problems of Zimbabwe before the end of this year, he should just leave.

@initiator,

CNN is very much willing and able to concoct videos. The one for which one Niger-Delta militant sent CNN a mail to come and interview him nko? They sent Jeff Koinange to come down to Nigeria and interview the guy.
Days later, Jeff submits the video at Headquarters, only for the militant to remind them that he's still waiting for their interview, through his same email, yet CNN paraded a home video on their station claiming it was the interview.
Well, I'm not claiming CNN has the capacity to produce Hollywood type blockbuster movies, But definitely they are more than proficient at releasing Nollywood homevideos.

But still sha, arranged video or genuine video, MUGABE MUST GO!

I'm sorry for saying he should die. Please God, don't let him die because his son will surely inherit the title. So let him just go.
