Adesiji77: @deols...thanks, where exactly is this Bowers Tower? My host, who is an Ib resident, does not know the place. He also mentioned Oke-Are
I dont know o.

Josh090: Unfortunately, the guy is trying to mock Ibadan with that picture.
See, the thing is, Ibadan isn't exactly a tourist attraction center, if you're into boozing and everything you can have that but looking for things to hold in awe, you might not find it. But if you're interested in history and culture, you might just enjoy IB.
If he is trying to mock, he is really not trying. If you get to some hilly areas in Ibadan, u'd see these brown roofs but u'd av an appreciation of nature. I find those areas fascinating actually. only a non-adventurous individual wldnt like to see them.

Ibadan has tourism potentials if only the government would look into it.

the ancient houses of Ibadan like the Ibikunle house are things to see. U'd be amazed at the architectural designs. there is even a Yoruba proverb that points to how grand the house is..

The exotic cuisines as mentioned are just what make Ibadan special.

The bower's tower. I haven't been there and feel cheated. I heard you could see the whole of Ibadan from there.

A cool drive around the mokola hills, you should look up to especially when it takes you from premier hotel to the cultural centre.
Premier might not be the best place to lodge in but has the name 'first in Africa'.

Check out the secretariat too and drive towards the government house.

moredendisc: @fittty

@Adesiji77

grin grin Zoo? zoo?

fittty's zoo recommendation would have been OK but University of Ibadan zoo is past its prime, it is a shadow of itself;

No more gorilla, no more crocodiles, no more lions etc

Don't waste your time and entry money visiting the zoo

Adesiji77, the only think you'll remember about the zoo after leaving, will be the midges that bit you when you were there

Ibadan is a lackadaisical city and sadly hasn't like Lagos got a galleria, mega plaza, The Palms etc

Ibadan is usually quiet by 7 - 9 pm, you can check out amala joints etc though
the zoo was pretty filled the last time I was there. But last yr I heard the news of flooding which swept away the animals. Apart from that, u can be sure UI zoo is a place to be.

Another place many pple dont know of is the Agodi gardens. The last time I was there, it was better than the UI zoo. The Ladoja administration worked on that. See UI and see Agodi and u'd appreciate the world of the lower animals.

-can not keep a conversation going..it irks!

Kobojunkie: So, let me get this . . . . "Annie" WILL be happy when she gets the man divorced from his current wife? Right? That is the UNEMOTIONAL assumption/conclusion you are willing to bounce at, right?

ROFLMAO!!!

Let me help you get your head out of that hole there . . . .

a) There is no Guarantee that when, and if "Annie" succeeds in getting this couple divorced, that Annie will get the man. Matter of fact, the chances are 70% that Annie will never get the man, let alone get him to commit fully to her.

b) A divorce, if done right, might strip baby-papa of everything. Is "Annie" willing to accept him, cardboard box and all? Would "Annie" be "happy" with that at the end of the day?

c) If, and when "Annie" eventually marries this man, the chances are great(almost 70%) that another woman, or some other issue, will cause Annie to experience divorce. Second marriages, with children born OUTSIDE of the marriage, are about 66% highly likely to end in divorce, than first marriages.

d) You say divorce might be the best for the man's wife, right? Well, How exactly is that? Most marriages experience infidelity of some kind, at some point, however, not all marriages that experience this, end. So, if "Annie" deserves to be happy, and there is the possibility that the current wife could also be happy(since it is not guaranteed that infidelity leads to divorce), why should "Annie"'s happiness mean that the other woman, who owes "Annie" NOTHING, should have to give up on her potential(assuming she is not happy right now) future happiness?
I get your point(s)

I am not in anyway wishing that the man involved divorses his wife. In fact,I think Annie is not in d place to make him do that.

But if the marriage ends in divorce,I see no reason why Annie should not get back with him.

2sexy: While I understand your point but I tend to disagree with the bolded because that would look like begging someone to love you. The truth is that wouldnt solve the problem. if someone dont love you there is nothing you can do about it.

This is the 3rd time I am reading something like this here. I will also like to know what would be the best type of Genotype one have SS could marry? I ask in case I come across some having the same probleam so that I can know how to help them.
The person would need to have the AA genotype.

I agree wv the begging part.

I see many married women here thinking, what if that other woman is me? .they are being overly emotional.

What if divorce is d best thing for the other lady. Being married to a man who wants to be with some1 else isnt a good thing IMO. What if the divorce is best for her while Annie gets to be with the man.

I think Annie deseves to be happy and I really had this likeness for her from her first post btw.

The best thing we can do is to keep ignoring them.

They will by their actions show the world how very tolerant they are.

Now you know who starts all the religious violence we av been seeing and after they get served by their equals, they whin all over the internet.

Muslims are the best of mankind..You would almost never see a Muslim insult other people's faith because to respect that is ingrained in us.

Let them keep showing the world who they are. The best thing to do is ignore them. Make your own comments and move on.

Islam › To Fast On The 9th And 10th Of Muharram(23rd And 24th Nov.2012) by deols(op): 5:01pm On Nov 22, 2012
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1865) from Ibn ‘Abbaas, who said: The Prophet (saws) came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashoora. He said, “What is this?” They said, “This is a good day, this is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy and Moosa fasted on this day.” He (the Prophet Muhammad) said, “We are closer to Moosa than you.”
So he (the Prophet Muhammad) fasted on this day and told the people to fast.

Al-Shaafa’i and his companions, Ahmad, Ishaaq and others said: It is mustahabb [recommended] to fast both the ninth and the tenth, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted the tenth and intended to fast the ninth. Based on this, there are different ways of fasting ‘Ashoora’, the least of which is to fast the tenth only, but it is better to fast the ninth as well. The more one fasts in Muharram, the better. (islamqa.info)

The prophet observed the fast on Ashuraa (the 10th of Muharram), and ordered (Muslims) to fast on that day. (Agreed upon Hadith i.e. Bukhari & Muslim).

Narrated by Abi Katada: The prophet was asked about fasting on ‘Ashuraa’ (the 10th of Muharram), he said: “it expiates the previous year (for sins).” (Sahih Muslim)

It was proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that the best fasting after Ramadaan is fasting in the month of Muharram. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best fasting after Ramadan is the month of Allah Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night.” Narrated by Muslim, 1163.

Wizeboy: The qualities I will really like in a woman are:

1. Trust-worthy (Straight-forward): Most of them I have met and that we are still friend lack this element. There's a quote I always use for my friends both males and females "You don't have to tell your friend everything about yourself BUT make sure whatever little you said are nothing but truth". I've always found them wanting in this case.

2. Forward-looking (Seriousness)

3. God-fearing

4. Nagging (In-patience) - I used to experience this on Nairaland also.

I would have explain what I mean by all these but my battery is low.

BTW: I'm not in anyway attacking women, but just saying what I've observed (with those I've met in my environment, study centre and work). And I believe you understand all the point (that's my own turn-off, because they might not be bad in some other people's observation)
