I agree with everything you said except the one in bold. I see the need for sincerity and the need to do whatever for the sake of Allah.

To say that hijab isnt waajib is wrong. It is a command of Allah and that makes it compulsory. . If what you mean however is to convey our attitude towards it in this part of the world, then I'd say, it largely depends on the lady as many parents wouldn't compel their children to wear it.

If you are not a Muslim, You actually shouldn't contribute. Islam is all about knowledge and what you have no knowledge of, even as a Muslim you keep quiet on. The problem with your opinion is, you are giving it based on what you perceive as good and ideal. You know what I'd prefer, that you read what Muslims have to say and learn from them rather than putting an opinion that would not be in sync with their religious belief.

Actually, I expected a more logical line of reasoning. TO counter my points effectively would have been to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Islam did not contribute the above to humanity. Rather you come up to say that others do better or Muslim nations fare worse than others.

It would have been understandable if your questins were on whether Muslims do take these parts of Islam seriously. To what extent they have taken to them and how effective they've been in situations where they have tried them in case of the Islamic banking, laws of inheritance and others like them.

it seems to me like you lack an understanding of exactly what you were asking for. you also have your expectations and already perceived 'non-contributions' that you fail to accept anything contrary to your view. Not true, women in the islamic world are the most suppressed in the world today, there is gender apartheid in most parts of the islamic world, in the middle east women are not allowed to contest political office in some countries, many and not allowed to be educated like in Afghanistan, women are not allowed to drive in places like Saudi Arabia, not allowed to move around on their own, not allowed to work, not empowered etc. . .It is a myth that muslim women have rights, it is yet to be seen. . .

charity- Zakaat to the poor. If everyon eliable to pay in the world does so, there'll be no poor person alive. Islam brings social justice. like you would not find elsewhere.

A life of bliss- A true Muslim doesnt worry too much about what they have or dont. the promise of an after-life, waiting to have the promised paradise just keeps you from the aggressive, selfish look out for the world and its goodies.

scientific- Islam provides scientific basis to most of the discoveries of later years. the Qur'an speaks of a walk on the moon. Honey as a medicine. the embryological development.

GEnder issues- Islam unlike christianity doesnt portray a woman as the evil one who made Adam eat the forbidden fruit. they ate it the Qur'an says. The Qur'an emphasises the need to do good by both parties and the one with the best of deeds gets the higher state. these from the Quran have been used as a basis for the rights of women especially in communities where cultures have over ridden the true religious teachings.

Islam puts Jesus in the most logical position, the one befitting him and the only true one- a messenger rather than a god. that is one great contribution. Imagine generations on end being misinformed of the true status of a prophet of God?

I have anaemia due to blood loss. You know that type that is hormonal and as a reassurance, a doctor would say is normal for people of a certain age.

I checked my Hb count two weeks ago and it was 64per cent. I felt like I had two options-to take an oral iron therapy or to have a dietary solution.

I opted for the dietary one as an oral iron has N&V and other GIT symptoms as side effects. I have had recurrent nausea for a very long time. that I had treated with vitamin B6 and at another time with an antivitiligo. So, I decided the oral iron is a No, no.

My problem now is, I had procastinated getting myself the perfect nutrient until this moment. The most I have done is prevent stress.

My question- would a diet of enough green vegetables, red meat, egg (which of course are good sources of iron) on a daily basis be enough to keep me going.

Jemibee: My 1st year was great with little or no quarrels(none that i can remember). Also got pregnant immediately after my wedding so things were really going as planned. Mom in law came in 2wks b4 i gave birth and her son had bought her a 4mths ticket(without informing me of the period). Even when i got to know, i didn't think it was too long a time to stay with us(even if i did, she was already with us). Did i mention we live outside 9ja and it was her 1st time travelling abroad. She came and was initially very nice only for her to also interrupt when we're discussing, wanting to know what/who we're talking about.

The most painful part came after i gave birth. They started talking about some type of sacrificial food i must eat because they are from a royal family(royal family without a palace/people)!! Guys, i almost lost it. The food had thais serious smell and was cooked without maggi/salt. She also said i musn't eat anyother thg for 1week. I suffered!! As a new mom(my mom had passed a yr before and my siblings all live in the US), it was really tough on me. I'd cry all day and she began acting funny because i objected to eating her concortion.

My hubby is the very loving type but unfortunately has never stood up to defend me in my presence. I stood my ground on this issue.

She later left 4mths later. 8mths later, his younger brother came to live with us. He's been here for 6mths now and after him i'm sure, another would be coming. Still,at the slightest quarrel, he claims it's my fault and starts calling all my siblings. In short, this 2nd yr is the worst. We used to be really close but i don't know what's been happening to us.

I'm fed up but what can i do? I'm not willing to leave cos i love him and i just must work towards the success of our mariage but i must admit, i'm no longer a happy person. If i had the ressources too, maybe i'd be a happier person.

In short, just for u all to knw that to every mariage, it's challenges. None is as perfect as it appears.

oh God! who would have thought such traditions still exist. My Mum talks of a woman who refused to eat such in our family. Nothing happened to her and so no one else ate it after her, stopping the tradition long before her own marriage.

Agbenyiess: My First year in marriage, it was fun and it is still fun. My wife was virtually a virgin-in all things (if you know what I mean) when I married her. At first it was frustrating, but when I saw her teachability, we took time to begin to learn and grow together. We have not ague or quarrel so to say, any time am angry and blowing hot, she will just keep quite and patiently Waite for me to cool-down ( I love her for that, as that has help strengthen our relationship), and then she will apologize for her action and try to adjust. She use to call her mum about everything, I had to put my foot on the ground for that to stop. Of course she could call her mum as much as she want but not on issue that pertain to the family, especially the ones we could handle. In marriage, I learnt about how delicate female emotion is and ensure I protect my wife’s. It breaks my heart when I see her cry (even though it’s the most cherished hubby of women), I also leant how analytical and meticulous women are in their thinking. I take advantage of my wife’s a lot (you need to have a concrete plan of vision, then ask them to think it through for you and at the end you will clearly see all the advantages and disadvantages) and it has save me from a lot of errors. Generally marriage is fun, if you married the right person and not your fellow man. Singles, stop testing the waters, plunge in, and you won’t drown… Our most challenging expeirnce was when we had our first child, it was thru CS, and was very challenging I thought, it was not going to end. I thank God for saving her life and giver her unusual strength.[[color=#000099][/color]

Noteworthy is the fact that there is no such thing as senior wife or junior wife, it is more of an african concept than Islamic. Furthermore, a second wife on principle is not really a corrective measure against the first.

I agree with all of the above But I just must add that a new wife(even though Islam doesnt specify this) should actually respect the first wife or whoever she's meeting at home for certain reasons.for example, in school, it is never a matter of age or of position, whoever comes first gets the honor, 'senior'. and even regarding the Islamic etiquette of greeting, the person standing greets d one sitting, the young, the old. And the one coming in, the one inside. I, personally hate the idea of new wives coming with the hope of 'taking over' or feeling like equals with people who could give birth to them(may Allah forgive me if am wrong and I stand corrected).

I think the real issue is about how fair can a man be to his wives as the case might apply. And that is where the real issue is, secondly does the man have the wherewithal to cater for the needs of am expanded family? Is the facility available sufficient so as not to create quarrels.

On issue 4, the fact still remains that most females do not like it, dont want it infact hate it so very much that they keep singing it directly or indirectly to the man's ears. I think first thing is for sisters to accept it in their hearts so that brothers wont have to scheme differnt ways of bringing in the second wife and it wouldnt hurt them so much.
