PoliticsRe: We Weren't Elected Just To Pay Salaries - Nigerian Governors On Minimum Wage by DeOTR: 10:10pm On Aug 16, 2018
SolutionMee:
Reasonable points up there

Most civil servants in Nigeria are too dependent on either their state/federal government

Work ethics shouldn't be like that

People should be exposed that they have to make alternative income

Which in the long run will prevent them from being too dependent on their salary

They can venture into farming, snail breeding, cattle rearing, food hawking and so on

Laziness is when you depend on a single source of income

Laziness is when you depend on your salary alone
The real definition of laziness is when Governors depend only on handouts from the Federal Government.
The same logic that applies to the workers also applies to the Governors.
They need to sit up and make money for their states. They're not there for their stomachs.

No, Jonathan actually won in 2011. Buhari got almost all of his votes from the core north. Dude didn't even bother to campaign much down South, thinking Northern votes alone can win him the election.
He has Tinubu and co to thank for his victory in 2015

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Rising. Collateral Free Agricultural Loans Are Real by DeOTR: 1:47pm On Aug 15, 2018
Butterflyle0:
My brother I own a farm and that amount is even too much for those starting off. You are talking about 5 hectares of land as if everyone must begin with 5 hectares.

I know people who began with as little as 3 acres (18 plots) and grew from there.

Is 3 acres also meant for subsistence farming?
I knew a family in Kaltungo that owned a corn farm as big as 3 acres. They barely sell the produce.
I'm not downplaying government efforts on this. Heck, giving as little as 50k will make a big difference for many. I believe it should be a matter of policy for BOA to give collateral free loans and for interested farmers to bank with them to avoid abuse.
I'm not into food crops, so it's a different ball game.
I'll be interested when the ceiling is raised to at least, 1M
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Rising. Collateral Free Agricultural Loans Are Real by DeOTR: 10:37am On Aug 15, 2018
Butterflyle0:
Really?

So to you 300k is for subsistence farming right?

If 300k is for subsistence farming and you had 300k would you put it into farming just so you can fend for yourself alone?
How much do you think it's enough to prepare say 5 hectares of virgin land for planting?
The idea was to attract young people into agric. That amount is not going to cut it for those starting off.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Rising. Collateral Free Agricultural Loans Are Real by DeOTR: 9:28am On Aug 15, 2018
Butterflyle0:
And somehow you knew this did not go through verification and not through a cooperative?

Obviously the cooperative you belong to is lazy if you Have not heard of Farmers Moni or the BOA collateral free farmers loans which happens to be NATIONWIDE
Bank of Agriculture has been giving collateral free loans for long. It didn't start with Buhari.
Farmers Moni or Market Moni (whatever it's called) isn't going through the right channel and the amount involved is for subsistent farmers and petty traders respectively.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Rising. Collateral Free Agricultural Loans Are Real by DeOTR: 8:35am On Aug 15, 2018
Butterflyle0:
You are a joke.

Are you a psychic that gave you insight to the kind of farming the recipient wants to.embark on?

Besides you can clearly see FIRST TRANCH written there and that disbursement is being done simultaneously to over 400 other farmers.
If the government is just disbursing loans to people without verifying if they're truly farmers or not, it's a waste of time. Elsewhere, government give agric loans to farmers through cooperative groups.
I'm a member of several farmers cooperative societies and I'm not aware of this, except of course, this is meant for core north as usual.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Rising. Collateral Free Agricultural Loans Are Real by DeOTR: 8:12am On Aug 15, 2018
I'm not in support of dishing out money to party members in the name of loans.
Let the loans go to farmers that are members of Farmers cooperative soceities. That way, we can be sure it will go to the right people.
And besides, that amount I'm seeing will merely take you beyond subsistent level of farming.

abescom:
The main reason APC will find it difficult to oust Saraki is because they talk toooooooooooooooooooo much. Talk less and act more.

And if you ask me, I will say APC should just focus on ensuring Saraki does not return to that house rather than wasting time on trying to impeach him. Sensitize Kwarans and present a very credible candidate and he will lose in Kwara. Most Kwara indigenes are already fed up with the Saraki family and APC can and should take advantage of this if they are wise.
It would be hard to unseat Saraki if he contests again next year. The Emir of Ilorin and the people of Kwara Central that he represents in the senate still like him.

I do have the temporary voter's card. I registered in 2011, and did not go to collect the Permanent Voter Card. I just checked INEC site now and found out that my details are still there on their website. Pls house is it possible for me to still get the PVC, and if yes how do I go about it. I have only change my local government area where I did it within Lagos. Thanks in anticipation of your responds.
Print the details and visit the INEC office in your current local government. They'll port you to the nearest polling unit in your neighborhood.

It's good you still have your TVC. Use the details to do what I mentioned earlier and go to any INEC office. They'll make necessary corrections. The only thing that can't be changed in this regard is your photo.

I've done mine before ...around 2011 in port harcourt, but misplaced it , can i still do again now that i'm based in lagos permanently huh huh

answers please!!
You don't need to do a fresh registration. Visit INEC webpage, go to voters verification, enter your VIN and if you don't have it again, use the full name and date of birth on the lost PVC. It will display your details. Print it and take it to the nearest INEC registration centre. You'll be ported to you new location. If you do it now, they'll tell you to come for your new PVC by december or january.
PoliticsRe: 2019: President Buhari Will Not Disappoint Nigerians - APC by DeOTR: 2:02pm On Aug 13, 2018
Buhari/APC obviously don't know the meaning of failure. This regime has failed Nigerians in every way you can think of...just mention it.
They should rather apologize for their failures and promise "not to fail again" if given another chance.
The way I see it, Buhari/APC deserve no second change and I doubt well meaning Nigerians will reward their failure with another term.

Use this simple logic.apc won south west without federal might and with four governors.they now have 6 governors and federal might.i know apc is disliked there but they will prefer apc to pdp.where are the structures in which pdp will win the west?
Buhari always wins niger by a large margin and will continue doing so.he always loses fct and nasarawa by slim margins to incumbent presidents.so since hes now an incumbent,he should win there.kogi will alsl win.whoever win or lose the north central will do so by slim margins
The south west knows how to draw the line between presidential and guber elections. Take a look at the vote pattern there in 2011.
They know how to vote for individuals and not parties.
It's too early to write PDP off in the south west. Buhari performance is very poor and it will surely reflect in their vote pattern next year.
PoliticsRe: Buhari, Cabals Unhappy With Osinbajo Over Sack Of Daura - Daily Independent by DeOTR:
This is public knowledge for those who knows Buhari. He would never sack Daura because of anything. He didn't bring him out of retirement for nothing.

Same for pdp.the decider will be the north central and south west where buhari has slight edge
The only place where Buhari may have an edge in the north central is Niger state. He will lose FCT. He doesn't have any leverage in the south west. I can't believe anyone follows Nigerian would honestly think the Yorubas will reward a poor regime with another term (corruption fighting and integrity is not gonna cut it this time).
I'm not saying Buhari will lose the election. He may get the required 25% in the south west, but I'm not seeing him winning any state there free and fair.

But you guys translated votes in katsina and bauchi reruns for pdp as a vote against bubu?
Where is the evidence that I ever comment as such?
He'll most certainly win in the core north.
I've been monitoring elections since 2010 and I can tell you that while an APC guber candidate may win a polling unit in the south, the president may lose. Same thing can not be said of the north where most voters can not differentiate between presidential ballot and that of the national assembly. That just look out for the party logo.
Buhari won't get many votes in the south.

I'm not one of them. I'm aware Buhari commands followership in most parts of the North, but thinking he'll do better next year than he did in 2015 in Ekiti (for example) just because Fayemi won the last guber election is delusional.
A bitter lesson await anyone who expects anything different.
PoliticsRe: Abbey Ukpukpen Wins Obudu Bye-election by DeOTR: 6:48pm On Aug 12, 2018
donphilopus:
Liar. PDP was able to garner only 21% of the votes not 25%. Expect that to reduce to about 8% when it would be Buhari against an outsider.

As for that of Cross River, APC was able to secure 25.1% of the total valid votes. Expect it to remain so or even increase during the Presidential polls which would be between two Northerners.

You should be worried that Buhari who wasn't able to secure 7% of the votes in this area in 2015 can now boast of 25.1% of votes for his party there in 2018.

With this result, it's safe to say Buhari would have the required 25% in all the South South and Southeastern States.
How does a vote for an APC candidate from Cross River, contesting an election into the state legislature now translate to a vote for Buhari?
Prove it that those who voted for APC in the election did so because of their love for Buhari?
You guys will be disappointed next year, especially with southern votes.

Only children will be analyzing next year's election as if buhari is still the challenger not disastrous incumbent, using a clearly declining fortune even in his backyard as a pointer to him winning next year.

Buhari will be defeated next year. 2.5m margin of victory has been wiped out since. The pdp is just watching them with many steps ahead.
Majority of those going for voters registration are not doing so to have means of identification of return this government, they are doing it to vote against Buhari.
But BMC would have us believe a vote for Akeredolu of Ondo and Fayemi of Ekiti is a pointer to the fact that those in the state will definitely vote for Buhari next year. That's delusion.

that a person is still moved by articulate words still baffles me. pdp came and spoke well where are we today? apc came and shouted change. where has that taken us? you'd better wisen up my guy. forget about whether they are rich or have done one small thing or the other in the past. these politicians are all thieves.
The man is intellectually sound. Add that to a little dose of good intention. That's all we need for progress for now.
I once said it here that poor education or lack of it is the major cause of insecurity and that governments spend on education not only because they want you to do well in life and contribute to the economy, but also as security a measure.
That's actually an economic theory that has proven to be true (economics students that studied public policies can relate) and I'm happy a presidential aspirant is echoing the same thing.
The man is miles ahead than Buhari in intelligence and knowledge of how things are run.
