Hi, i have been reading the chats and i appreciate all i have learned, pls can anyone advise me with my case, i got my B1/B2 visa before i got married though i was engaged at the time. It was intended for a vacation, but i never got to go, but two months down the line i got married and now i am pregnant and my husband and i have decided to have out baby in the US. So i got a new passport in my new last name, as the one i have my visa in, which is in my maiden name would expire in July 2015. And as you know some airlines would not let one fly if your passport is not valid for 6 months after date of arrival. So my question is can i travel with both passports with my proof of marriage (marriage cert and affidavit)
Would also advice you to take along the newspaper publication of change of name if you have it.

Happy new week friends!
Pls secondly,i intend to travel back to the US (dallas) to have my 2nd baby but i would like to travel with my first child who is citizen, pls has any one done this before? And did you encounter any problem or challenge with the immigration at the point of entry because of your citizen baby? I would really appreciate your kind responses.
Thanks house and have a blessed week everyone.
You are good to go,i dont think you would have any problem whatsoever. Just be prepared with your burden of proof for POE and dont forget to go with your reciepts and letter of zero balance for 1st child. All the best.!

Sorry for coming back on this forum.

My father in law agrees on giving me affidavit that he used some insurance to pay the delivery charges. He is not willing to tell insurance name. Looks like some public insurance. he will write also that I have nothing to do with this whole procedure and he should be liable for
I have been reading your post on previous pages and in fairness to you, you have always said that your father inlaw said insurance paid your wifes bills. I would advice you to find out from your father inlaw and your wifei if it was medical aid otherwise known as Obama care that paid your wifes bill or your father inlaw took out an insurance policy that covers your wifes medical bills. If your wifes bill was settled by medical aid nothing can help you except you settle the bill, even if your father inlaw takes an affidavit in front of Obama it will not help your case. On the other hand,if it was a real insurance company that paid the bills, find out if this is acceptable i.e if it is legal to do this, if iit is,then let them get a letter of zero balance and take it up from there.
This is just my personal opinion,i stand to be corrected.

Hi all, how's your weekened going. Please for people who have booked local flights From their point of entry to their final destination. How do I go at this please, Wat airlines are adviseable to use? Can I book online and pay from Nigeria or I have to be there to buy the ticket. Pls would appreciate your kind response and experiences.

Thank you
You can book online from 9ja with your card before leaving and moreover, the earlier you book the cheaper the ticket, a ticket that might cost you $250 3wks before the trip might end up costing you $500 on the day off the trip. You should have it at the back of your mind that most of these local airlines in the us have luggage limits that are lower than what obtains in the international route,so pls find out before you buy your ticket. You can try delta and united they fly almost allover america

Hi Peeps,

I am based in the Middle East (ME) with my family. We have our American visas (B1/B2) before we relocated to the ME and visited the States for holidays. Now my wife is preggy and plans are to have our baby in the States and we plan to pay about 50% of the bills upfront.

Question
1. Can we use our credit cards as proof of solvency at the POE, if we have about $2K in cash?

I will appreciate comments and experiences

Thanks in advance for your help!
lalavita has said it all.. I would advice you to go with enough cash to prevent any issues or stories that touch.

Sent u an email Kizluv.

Justwise please how do I access PMs on this forum? Every time someone sends me a PM it goes my email and says someone is tryna contact me. What am I doing wrong?

@anonymusmum, my dear I probably need to calm down undecided
@ shawbabe
Thats how the PM thing works. When someone sends you a pm the message goes to your email inbox that someone from nairaland is trying to contact you and you are expected to reply that mail so that the person trying to contact you will then have your email address for further correspondence. I hope this helps

Good day House, Please I have a question.
I recently renewed my B1/B2 visa through drop box. I was 3 and half months pregnant at the time. I found out about this thread afterwards and I became concerned about POE. I read on one of the US visa websites that a B1/B2 visa could be used for various purposes including medical care.
But I have read here that it's better to inform them of a change in plans via email.
Now the thing is that I dey fear one kind make them no go cancel my visa.
Pleaseeee kindly advice a preg Sis.
Thank you
I dont think you did anything wrong by renewing via drop box,so the issue of your visa being cancelled dose not even come up.You are also not mandated to inform the enbassy since your visa covers medical
All you need to do is to be fully prepaired , read this thread from at least the last 100 pages and gather your burden of proof for POE (get hospital and doctors correspondence, enough cash of at least 10k depending on your budget and estimates)
I dont think the issue of cancelation of your visa will arise, since you dint comit any offence unless there is somewhere in the drop box renewal form that you were asked if you were pregnant and you said no

Hi, ok so I have a letter from Dr. Fagbohun now, but was thinking to book another accomodation in richmond since I only have for intown suite, before going in next week in case am asked for one. So just wanted to asked if all you submitted when you went back was the white form, Dr. fagbohun's correspondence and bank statements. Also, was it the same Vo, or another one.
I would advice you go with all the documents that you went with originaly since the 1st interview was not concluded and moreover, you are likely to meet a totally diffrent vo. To be on the safe side and since it wont cost you anything you can also book an accomodation around Richmond just to make everything tidy. Wish you all the best.

Was at the American embassy for my interview today and something funny happened. All was going well, till the vo officer saw my letter from Doctores parati. Then he said he needs a letter from an obyGgyn and gave me a form to bring back on a monday or Wednesday when I have a letter from a gyny. So I have to start looking for another hospital I guess. The letter is valid for a year

@ slimwendy85
It was certified that doctoresparati are agents and not medical doctors and that some VO frown at their letters, while some accept, and it was adviced that you could use some other doctors correspondence for your Visa interview and Poe and port to elpaso when you get into the us,
Others should pls take note, if you are using doctoresparati letter, pls back it up with a spare just in case you meet a VO that frowns at their letter

Hi. A word of caution for those who plan to use Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH): Expect more bills after paying the full maternity package. My wife delivered there after we had paid the so called self-pay maternity package of $7500 (6000 for delivery, 1500 fro antenatal care). After delivery we received a bill of around $3000 or so for anaesthesia. Then another bill for paediatrician. Today again, another one called physician bill. I don't know when the bills will stop coming: am I to expect nursing bill? JOHESU bill? Etc. I seriously regret using them now. Just for those who do not know. The funniest thing was that their financial person told me that after I had paid the full maternity package, all I needed to pay more is anaesthesia fee, which would just be a couple of a hundred dollars, but she was wrong. At any rate, it was her word against mine
A couple of people on this thread have had problems with exagarated hospital bills and at the end it was resolved. I think you should go in and have a word with them ,make them understand that there is no money again o,if need be contact the oga patapata, also read through the thread and see how others resolved their issue and if possible contact people that have had similar issues for help on how it was resolved. From what you have written your bill would have climbed to 11k by now o,and its only God that knows how much it will come to at the end of the day. Wish you all the best in trying to resolve this.

I dont see any problem whatsoever. A lot of people have traveled with their children on this thread without any wahala. They might ask her at poe why you are not with her,she should just tell them that you would be joining them later before baby arrives.

Based on what you wrote, two things can happen: Turn you back at POE or cancel your visa if you send the letter of notification. It's best you use it for the first reason you applied the visa for which was vacation before child birth

@ Flowers hmmmmmm ...I really really wish I could travel 1st for vacation but it just won't be possible again. ..I'm aware of this 2 possibilities. . Was just hoping for an alternative. .All the same we'll brave it and hope for the best, with plenty prayers too..Luckily our POE will be New york ( heard it's not soo tough there)
Thanks a lot.
My sister i would advice you to follow your heart and make the trip.most of on this forum are not experts on these matters neither do we work with cbp,so we dont know it all, we just advice based on experience,it would have been better if you had told the vo you were pregnant when they asked, but as you said you were not even sure then yourself I would advice you to be fully prepared (enough cash at poe, doctors corespondence etc) I have heard of people with similar stories that were successful and also others that were turned back too, Just be truthful and prayerful

I must admit this forum has been so informational.I have a little situation and need some advise.
I obtained my US visa in Nigeria almost five years ago while I was working there and was a resident.I later moved to Ghana and have been using the visa since.by the way am Ghanaian and hold a Ghana passport.
My question is,do I need to consult the embassy and tell them about my change of travel purpose or just leave it as it is and use the visa for birthing.I sent them a general email without identification just to know their response..
I off course intend to pay all bills but don't want any whahala when I have to renew my visa.
Thanks and I will be awaiting response..
God bless
You can decide to email the embassy or not,it all depends on you,but whatever you decide just read this thread very well and make adequate preperations for poe.. The american embassy will still know that you had a child in america when you go for renewal of your visa,so keep your receipts and your letter of zero balance because they will ask for it.

No she wasnt asked if she is pregnant and she will not be traveling for the course she got the visa for.
It could go either way. She can send a mail to the embassy informing them that she wants to use the visa for birthing or she can decide to just go ahead and travel with the visa,if the class of visa covers traveling for health reasons.
What ever option she decides on,she should do her home work very well o i.e have a good reason for not going for the course and should be able to convince them that at poe that her original intention for applying for the visa was for a course and not for birthing ,so it wont be like she planed to use it for birthing from the begining and lied about it, hold enough cash at hand that can cover medical and other expensis, this will convince them at poe that she can pay her bills, have detailed doctor and hospital correspondence stating bill brake down etc

Thank you for your email.

Your B-class visa does not entitle you to entrance to the United States—it simply entitles you to arrive at a port-of-entry to the United States and apply for admission to an officer of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) unit on duty there. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly.  Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,
You got the general responce, nothing wrong with the reply you got. They are just stating the obvious.
Its the cbp officers at POE that have the final say in deciding who enters the us at poe, inrespective of the class of visa you hold

Pls can you post their exact response,ii dont think they will revoke your visa without clearly informing you.. i think you will be informed clearly if your visa ie revoked,i dont think they would be so wicked enough to allow you to get to poe and then be turned back.. Ii think cherie24's case happened in Dubai ,i think what she said happened, was that she was asked during her visa interview if she was pregnant and she said no and later sent them a mail that she wanted to use the vsa for birthing purpose.,that was why her visa was revoked.
Now to your own case, did they ask your wife if she was pregnant when she went for her visa interview,if they did, what was her responce?
Did your wife use the visa for the training that it was issued for?
You have to answer these questions before i know how to advice you.

Tomorrow na, dem go say one naija woman come here come born without paying. e no go hard na, dem go begin speak grammar - cheating the system, use of false documents, illegal bla bla bla..

@Kizluv - abeg no crucify that lady, doh i feel u sha. e better make she get all the facts now by clarifying if what she wants is bread or puff puff than going there and she begin dey chop akara.

@dabiggy - please do everything within ur powers and settle every cent just like the oda sis's have advised. i dont knw how u want to do. You absolutely have no right to benefit from that medical care. if you like, sitdon there dey chop kpomo. my gud pple, please profer solutions from past experiences to enable her proceed in settling the gbese as milk don spill already.

This is my 2cents
Read of someone on this forum that made this same mistake, she came back to naija and wanted to renew her visa and was told to go back and settle the debt before coming back for renewal and she got her visa after settling the debt. I have also heard of people that even after they applied for renewal and were told to go back and settle their debt and they did they still were not given visa.
My advice to you is look for a way and work out a payment plan with the hospital and clear your debt and collect your letter of zero balance if not to get yankee visa again from 9ja go hard o.

Dear Nairalanders,

Please, the stories about POE are scaring. Please, any idea of a safe POE?. It's horrific travelling for such a long distance and CBP refuse entry. Please, I have noted that CBP at Houston and Atlanta POE are very strike on pregnant women. Which other safe POE can anyone suggest to me?. I really wish not to be disturbed at all because it I intend to enter at 32weeks.
2. Please, what are some of the reasonable answer to the usual question at the POE "What is the purpose of your trip"?
3. I have learned of El Paso TX, MIHS Phoenix and Methodist Medical Center Houston. Please, apart from these, is there any other cheap hospital in Houston?

Please share!
Cheers!,
There is nothing to be scared about POE ? My advice to you is read this thread in detail from at least page 100 if you cant start from the bigining and do your home work. It has been mentioned here by some people that JFK New York is a friendly POE. Nothing to be scared of,just make sure you have all the neccessary documents..
