Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to notify the embassy of my intent in my travel plans. I was just issued a B1/B2 visa via Dropbox so i did not have opportunity to fully explain my purpose.I am pregnant now and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital and doctor in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.
I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this travel plans, I will still love to use the visa for vacation later within the validity period. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do.

It all depends on the state you are going,some states accept forms notarised by any notary public,while others acceppt forms notarised only at the us embassy. Point of correction.its not any lawyer that can sign the consent form o,the person signing has to be a notary public. I would advice you to just wait till you put to bed and tell your husband to do it at the us embassy,i even heard they can help you send it directly to the pasport agency in the us (i am assuming this service is free) if so,this will even eliminate cost of sending it back to you in the us |

I have learnt a lot from your contributions and like to commend everyone for taking out time to share information. My visa interview is coming up in a few weeks.I will be going with my 4 year old son and am anticipating I will be asked why my husband isn't travelling with us and am wondering what a proper response should be. Truth is, he'll rather I use his ticket money to add for the birthing project. But I definately can't tell the VO that. He has his own business so inability to obtain leave from work won't work. Suggestions please. You can tell them that your husband is bussy at work,the fact that he runs his own business does not automaticaly mean he has all the time in the world in his hands. |

Hello NLders in this thread, some of you may know me. I've been following this thread from prt 1 to 2 and have also contributed. I've been doing all these for my wife and unborn child. At a point I decided that I made her read through the threads cos she would be the one to face the VO alone, as I won't be there with her. Today was her interview in Abuja mourning hours. And to God be the glory it was a success. According to her, the interview lasted for about 5 to 7 mins. It was God's favour all through. She was honest about her intention to travel (birthing) and all necessary documents was packed. But amazingly, she didn't even open her burden of proof file jacket all through the interview, as she was not asked of any documents, accept the ones (Intl passport, visa app confirmation page, appointment confirmation page and passport photograph) she used for entrance. Infact, she wasn't asked for hospital correspondence, accommodation, bank statement, etc)... Let me stop here I will post the entire VO scene (experience) in my next post... Long and short of it was that it was the Lords doing and it is mavelous in our eyes. Congrats to you and dear wifey |

I and hubby went for interview last month, but was given a white paper to come back and show evidence of payment for medicals and itemised hospital bill. Got one now tho the bill stated normal delivery and CS but I paid fully for normal delivery and have all evidence. Going back in 2weeks time but don't know the chances of being granted the visa. You are good to go,since you have done what they requested, i dont think you will have any issues. Good luck. |

I actually was in houston in March!had a terrible experience at Poe. Then I was just like 16wks gone n trip was 4 vacation with my hubby.They didn't believe me n was held for 10 good hours.I'm sure that was the worst experience of my life. After so much interogation was given 31days to leave which I did cos my trip was 4 just 2wks.Though I told them I have plans to return but I must say I still have my fears after that experience which gave me nightmare for days. Just to be on the safe side,I would advice you do the letter to the embassy informing them of your intent.,because some people have actually been asked at poe if they informed the American embassty in their home country that they were coming to give birth in the us Budget breakdown simply meand doing a break down of your budget e.g. Air ticket #360,000, Accomodation #320,000, Hospital #721,000, Doctor #515,000 etc |

With regards to 5he visa or passport question, if you are not close to a city with a 9ja consulate ( New york, Atlanta,Washington dc) i would advice you to settle for the Visa,cause it means you wont need to travel to get it,an agent can get it for you. On the other hand,if you are in any of these cities,it might be better to just go to the embassy and get the passport once and for all. |

I really appreciate all your responses, I do not intend to relocate from Nigeria yet that's the reason I cherish my visiting visa so I can always travel. Just like someone said the insurance did not accept because I don't have social security no. (By usc I mean us citizen ) am just being careful because hubby wants me to relocate even though I still have the fear of the unknown reservation .can I take some cash to be on the safe side and let them know am paying the bills at the poe and avoid the question of my hubby being a usc or just tell them short vacation instead of child birth .Am making this personal enquiries for my selfish interest because I still have sentimental attachment to my Nigeria . No need to lie that you are going for a short vac when in reality you are going to have your baby. Just tell them the truth that you are going to have your baby and read this thread very well and make all the adequate preperations,like doctor & hospital correspondence etc,and also go with enough cash to convince them at poe that you can pay your bills. Also have it at the back of your mind that at poe they might ask questions like: What does your husband do? Is your husband joining you? etc |

My Visa expires in July and I intend to go visit my sister for like 2weeks this month end, I want to know what to say in case i'm being questioned as regards my last visit which lasted about 3months as against the 2weeks that I told the Entry Clearance Officer. A friend of mine with a similar story was delayed at Abu Dhabi (Preclearance) with series of questions but she was eventually allowed to fly into the US. I'm flying Delta and the POE is Atlanta, I really wish to know how the airport security check is so I can prepare myself well to avoid any unwanted issues. My sister is having a baby and she wants me around.

From your post,i dont think you told the VO during your visa interview that you were pregnant and using the visa for birthing purpose,because if you did you wouldn't have told cbp at poe that you are spending 2wks when you ended up spending 3 months. So therefore,just pray that you find favour with whoever you will meet at poe. And also go with all your hospital receipts and letter of zero balance |

Please, can someone assist me with this question asap. Can a nigerian travel to the US with a passport about to expire. The passport will expire in july. Can the person travel in june and stay for 3 weeks and come back before the 6th of july when the passport expires or does the person need to wait until after expiration of passport to renew it before travelling. I don't know if the whole 6 months validity of passport beyond intended stay applies to nigerians travelling to US. Anyone with experience.. |
