A lot of people on this thread say New York is a very friendly POE,so i will advice you fly to New York and take a domestic flight to Houston or Ohio as the case may be. All the best

So did u book your connecting flight from NY to phoenix while in Naija or at d airport in NY when u got there. Thaanks
Will advice you to book southwest airlines as soon as you have bought your lagos - new york ticket or as soon as you are sure of your travel dates, because they are one of the few if not the only airline i know that allows hand luggage and two 23kg bags free. Dont ever make the mistake of waiting till you get to New york before buying your ticket, because a ticket that might cost you $150 like 3wks before will cost you like $500-$700 on the day of the journey. Make sure you do your homework very well o, because at times after adding the cost of domestic ticket from new york to phoenix, hotel money if you need to spend d night in New York and cab fare from hotel or from Jfk to La guadia Airport, at times after adding all this, your total might just be close to or about what it will cost you to fly direct from Lagos to Phoenix,so think and calculate very well o if coins is an issue here.

I already stated at the embassy that I'll be using MIHS so I don't think I can change it anymore. However, I got In touch with El Paso and they replied immediately to my questions. Im thinking of taking my correspondence with them to the embassy as a backup just in case. What do you think?
I will not advice elpaso. Sometime ago on this thread people were having issues with dresparati letters at the embassy. You can do Dr Fagbohun instead,

is an email correspondence stating the fee and an confirmation of appointment from the staff of the Doctor ok for my burden of proof.
Do i need to collect a signed letter.
I think you are ok with that,i dont think its compulsory for the doctor to sign the letter.all they need to do if they are in doubt about the authenticity of the letter is email or call them to confirm that the letter originated from them

please I need an urgent reply on this if anyone can help out. I was at the US embassy last week and I was given an admin letter to come back with my corresponce with the doctor and a birth plan. I've gotten the corresponce but I feel its not detailed enough. I got a reminder from the doctor about my upcoming appointment and I also replied. Is that enough to take back to the embassy? Also, I'd like to know what a birth plan constitutes. I'm planning on using MIHS.
I will also advice you ,that in addition to the appointment remindal letter you got,you should also go to MIHS website and print out their self pay package plan.,and also take it with you.
With regards to a birth plan,i think Phema did justice to that on the old thread

Hello all,i got my Us medical visa 2 give birth last year,my due date was may 29, I left nigeria april 4th via Air france 2 new york but I couldn't make it 2 newyork as I had my baby in france although pre mature now question we I be allowed to use my visa to visit d Us or I have 2 inform d embassy 1st b4 traveling. Pls i need ur advise. Thanks
You can use your visa to travel at anytime you wish i assume its a b1/b2 visa.Just to be on the safe side you can inform the embassy, because you might be asked at poe ,but again,it might not come up at poe.I will advice you to go with a copy of your old ticket if you still have it cause it will act as burden of proof to your story that you were enroute to the us when you had your baby in france.

Good morning family, please I need help from the house. I have been trying to book extended stay America Houston but error message comes up each time.(access denied. Is there any other way apart from booking.com as their price too dear or better still any other affordable hotel near Houston northwest.
Secondly, do I need to book for the duration of my stay, let's say 12weeks or few days as a bundle of proof at Poe.
I will appreciate all help... Thanks
Let's all go out and exercise our rights...vote wisely
Have you tried calling their phone? I dont think you can book for more than a month on booking.com. you can also use your zip code to search for nearest hotel or extended stay.

I also got the sSN exactly 2 weeks after birth.

The zero balance letter just stated that I don't owe the hospital in one line. Hope this is okay and is the letter sufficient? Or do I also require a receipt?

Thanks
Congrats on the birth of your baby. I think you still need to ask them for a receipt, infact you should be given a receipt for every payment you make. You can get them to mail it to you if you have left the US already.

Hello everyone, hope we all enjoyed our easter holidays. Pls I ve a quick question, during my visa renewal recently the VO asked if I intend using medicals on the visa and I answered yes that I will in the course of the 2yrs since I already used medicals before with my last visa (which wz actually why we were invited to the embassy during our renewal). So do I still need to write them a letter informing them of wanting to give birth in the US?
Thanks for ur kind responses,God bless u all.
I dont think there is need for you to send them a mail, since you were categorically asked if you will use the visa for medicals and you said yes,so you are good to go without doing a mail to them

Hello everyone, thanks so much for the update and may our babies bring joy to us in Jesus name.I have two things to ask here, when I got my Visa in Dec I was still expecting my monthly flow but eventually it did not come, hence I was pregnant.Do I need to write a mail to the embassy and how do I go about it?Secondly I have someone in North Carolina Charolette to be precise but she's not giving feedback about doctor I can use all she keep sayings is when you get here it will be sorted and I don't want any issue at Poe coming from JFk and am a July ending /August more all things being equal.I will also want to know the best airline as I was thinking of Delta since I will be traveling by June ending if all works out.
Please mummies in the house help a New mum to be.
Thanks Oluwatosin.
Where you asked at the embassy when you applied for the visa if you were pregnant? If the answer is no,then you can send a mail to the embassy informing them of your change of intent, their email address is somewhere on this thread.
Concerning your search for a doctor,go to healthgrades.com and search for doctors in Charlotte and start emailing and calling them for quotes .
Delta Airlines is ok,but bear in mind that if its a delta direct flight, your poe is most likely to be Atlanta and not New York, your flight will end in jfk,but poe will likely be Atlanta

Thanks ever so much.I really appreciate your help.

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on this. I am on esta and I was given 90 days entry which is up on 22/04/2015 I would leaving USA on 16th, I have mailed them because my wife is 8 months pregnant she could not travel, because she has 6 months entry because she has b1/b2 visa. I have to travel back to take care of her, I have explained the situation, and asked them if I can travel straight back.thats the reply I had back from them.
Rizwan
I think what their reply to your email simply means is that the right to allow entry into the Us lies with CBP,which is same with everyone coming into the Us. All you have to do is explain yourself to the CBP officer on yor return if they ask why you are visiting twice in such a short time frame, that you accompanied your wife on the first visit and had to go back home and you are coming back to be with her during child birth, i dont see any problem there.

She has to go home before the two weeks are over.
Otherwise she faces very long ban.

Prehaps she can re-apply again from home.
Why bother travel all the way back to 9ja. My advice,as has been mentioned here is since she has a multiple entry visa, let her travel to one of those countries like babados, mexico etc where she wont need a visa and just lounge for like a week or 2,then re-enter the us,advicably through a diffrent poe

Please House, i have a Sister having a problem. She had a 2yrs visitor's visa with her husband that was got early 2014 and she is now 32weeks pregnant and decided to use d opportunity to give birth in d USA since they can both afford it. But unfortunately, i did not know what she said wrong, at d USA immigration today, her i-90 was cleared for just 2weeks with NO EXTENSION & NO ADJUSTMENT. She had already booked a return ticket for june with d hope that she will put to bed in d US in may. PLS, WMIS THERE ANY SOLUTION AND WHAT CAN U ADVISE ?
I read somewhere on this thread where someone said same thing happened to her sister inlaw or something and she applied to some govt agency and her visa was extended, but i cant remember the the details of the case anymore. You can consult an immigration lawyer for best advice

Good day mums and dads here.

I stumbled on this thread on Tuesday two days ago after I had a nasty experience during my visa interview in Lagos last week that has left me demoralised. Someone advised that I could ask some questions here so that I know how to understand if there was anything I did wrong. I have been silently reading and I must say you guys hold a lot of info here.
I cant see anything you did wrong. At times some people are just unfortunate to meet some very nasty Visa officers, which was your case. I would advice you to get another hospital and doctor quote / correspondence around that same amount, maybe MIHS or some other hospital & doctor and reapply to Abuja this time around. And if they ask you what has changed, you tell them that you have a new hospital.I have read similar cases on this thread, and some even had to reapply up to 3times before they got the visa, but yours wont be like that by Gods grace. I wish you all the best

I dont think it is compulsory for you to do so,because i have not read of anyone who was asked to show evidence that they are on leave. But you can just take it along if you already have it,but no worries if you dont.

My people! A question has been on my mind o! Would the child born in US be entitled to medical insurance? And would it affect the Parents' subsequent visas?
If what you are asking is,can the mother use medical aid to pay for the bills? The answer is a capital no,and yes if she collects med aid it would affect her chance of getting her visa renewed,in fact she is most likely not going to get her visa renewed if she does.

Thanks a lot for your response lalavita.

I intend to use Dr. Fagbohun so all I have is the generic email he sent me stating that he is happy to have me as his patient and he does not accept advance payment, neither does the hospital (oakbend). He also attached the cost of services in the email so I intend to take those with me to my interview. I wonder if that will suffice. I have never had a baby in the US before, this is actually my first pregnancy.

I haven't booked an accommodation yet, however I intend to use soulcare concierge. I have email correspondences with them and also the quote they sent me. So I will take those too. I have my bank statements and budget sheet already, pay slips for the past 6 months, letter from my boss confirming my maternity leave and an introduction letter from my company. Is there anything else I should take with me?
Bravo ! You have done well. I guess it was the 3months stay and travelling with your mum that gave you away. I guess they just want to see your burden of proof. Some people on this thread were also invited and they were granted visa after the interview,so no worries. I wish you all the best.

Hi All,

I have been following this thread quietly for a while now because i desire that my wife delivers our baby in the US. I am presently considering Atlanta for logistic reasons but also considering cost. It appears a couple of people are heading towards phoenix.

Can someone please spell out the likely cost implications of having a baby (VAGINAL AND CAESAREAN PLEASE) in phoenix from registration to delivery.
If you are thinking of going the Phoenix route, MIHS (Maricopa Intergrated Health Service) seem to be your best bet for now.Google them and check out their self pay deals for pregnant women and also check out budget spread sheet posted by Phema and some other people on this thread.. I guess with that, you are good to go

I agree with you,289k for Houston is not a bad deal at all after considering all,if you had bought lagos - New York an added domestic flight and hotel money,i am sure your bill will climb 300K+ infact you have done well.
