PointB: Creation of Anioma state is actually long overdue. I think the entity and people that will comprise Anioma state will make it very viable.
In the end balancing the number of state in the SE is also quite important because of it ramifications in geopolitics. South Easterners are well advised to look beyond their nostril is kicking against Anioma Stamp creation. The merit far outweighs the demerit. Personally, I care less which Zone Anioma is placed, I am more concerned at the moment about it's creation. The southeasterners do not kick against the creation of Anioma State unless the regrettably constituted Efulefu among them. I do not care if Anioma State is placed in North Central Zone, one thing that is clear remains Anioma people know who they are. |
What make you think, if Anioma state were to be created tomorow, that it will join the SE. Aniomas have made it clear that they are not igbos. I advise you people to create anothe SE state from the existing ones, in order to avoid being betrayed. Cos even if Anioma state was eventualy created with Igbo support, they will never join the SE.
I guess you were the only eye witness still walking the surface of the earth when the poeple of Aniomas made it clear that they are not igbo. It is said stupidity can not be fixed. It shows with the above post. |

ogugua88: And the solution to Nigeria's need of viable states is to create another state?
The creation of Anioma state or any other state will increase government costs. The Nigerian government already has too many ministers, senators, representatives, etc. Anioma will need a governor, deputy governor, senators, commissioners, advisors, assistants... the list goes on. You trust Nigerians to enter government and perform good deeds right? Do not be fooled.
We have too many states as is. Haggling for more states is befriending regression. We already have 36 states that aren't properly maintained. If Nigeria wants viable states, then states need to be combined, government size needs to decrease, and politicians need to do what they were sent to do.
Nigeria is like a bad mother. A bad mother has children who are ill-mannered, lazy, disrespectful. She's disappointed and wants to have another child, hoping that that child would be an angel. It doesn't work that way. Where were you when villages such Gombe, Yobe, Zamafara and Osun were created as states? You should have stood up this silly opposition to creation of more states in Nigeria when it grew from 12 to 19 and now 36. |

cecegorz: I wonder when people put only two options forward as the only way to go. Even if we divide with the same set of Kleptomatic politicians filled in the West, East, South and North, they will continue their looting to no end. True federalism with less attraction to political office still stands out as the best option for this country. Federalism under Nigeria shall be worse than the present configuration. Again, the so-called federalism will not eliminate alleged “Kleptomatic politicians” from Nigerian society. However, a new nation state may choose to run a different system or style of government oblivious to current Nigerians. |

Same way Pakistan is protecting Kashmir abi?
I admire your Generosity Sir, but No thanks!
A lot of Countries are "Lumped" together in similar fashion as Nigeria, yet have moved Forward (Switzerland(French,Swiss, Italians, Germans), Canada(French & Brits), Tanzania(Arabs, Zanzibari, etc), India(Hindi,Tamil,Muslims,Punjabi, etc),Ghana(Ashante & Fante amalgamation),Kenya(Kalenjin, Oromo, Massai, etc),South Africa(White, Blacks, Indians) It is Only in Nigeria that we Attribute Collective failure to Amalgamation and I find it quite abhorrent that instead of accepting responsibility,we choose to trade blames!
Is Amalgamation responsible for the Failure of T.A Orji's Administration? (I've been to Abia several times)
Is Almagamation responsible for the Dismal Performance of My Governor?
Is Amalgamation responsible for Poverty in the North?
Goodluck Jonathan is at the Helm of Affairs and He is a Southerner, He has Every Opportunity to Entrench TRUE FEDERALISM which we all seek if he is passionate about it!
But Hey! 6yrs into his Government, The North is still Messed Up(Not His Fault Though), The East still complains of Marginalization, The Niger Delta's still the most Polluted Place in the World!
Only the SouthWest and a Few Governors in the North, and SS have been able to Deliver to their People!
Corruption does not have a Language of its own, Neither does Injustice prefer a particular ethnicity!
My Zamfara Gateman Hates his Governor as much as Abia Mechanic hates His! This sentence, “Only the SouthWest and a Few Governors in the North, and SS have been able to Deliver to their People!” exposed the premise of your argument which is woefully flawed. Ndigbo have no intention to invite Idoma people to form a country. You have every right to stay in Nigeria but such pedigree to say that Ndigbo had no right to form Republic of Igbo land or breakaway from cesspit called Nigeria. It is plain idiocy to think the economic woes, if any, in Igbo land started as a result of maladministration under GEJ or T O Orji. It is rather silly to insinuate that a gate man in Zamfara will react to injustices in the same manner as a mechanic in Abia does. |

duwdu: Okogie On 2015: Don’t Run, Jonathan, Don’t...
Sunday, 22 September 2013 00:00 By Gbenga Salau News -
THE Archbishop emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to jettison the idea (if any) of running for a second term in office in 2015.
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Okogie said “the handwriting on the wall,” does not favour it, even as the election date is two years away.
Making direct reference to the alleged “third-term bid” of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Archbishop, who decried flattery and sycophancy ‘in high places,’ stressed the need to keep political agreement, if any.
According to Okogie, by 20015, the incumbent President would have served the country in that capacity for, at least, six years, the number of service years, which, he said, is enough for modest contribution to national development.
“If I were Jonathan, I will not try it (running for a second term), because the writing on the wall does not favour it. We have not even got to 2015, (yet) there is so much sycophancy and flattery. It is like telling Okogie now to go into politics: ‘come, you are the kind of person we want;’ you think I’m silly?”
He continued: “Jonathan will be there for almost six years; there was a time, he was Vice, and now President for four years. What is he looking for again? It is just like comparing it with Obasanjo; what was Obasanjo looking for in third term?
“You know what happened then. Apart from the story that Jonathan made an agreement that he would do just one term, if it is true, do you think those who were there when he said ‘just one term’ are silly.”
The Bishop Emeritus also expressed dissatisfaction with the manner the Nigerian elite go about the business of politics, describing it in the words of late musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, as “chop I chop.” He also condemned corruption and the killings in Nigeria.
“And why are so many people running into politics? 2015 is two years away; see how they are killing themselves. Who even knows who will get to 2015? What do you think they are looking for, money? Nothing else. They are not patriotic; they are not. All our political leaders, how many of them can beat their chests to say they are patriotic. It is just gimmick and pancake that they are doing.”
FULL INTERVIEW
Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, 77 is a Catholic Priest and social crusader. He was ordained a Priest in 1966, at the age of 30; five years after in 1971, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Oyo. After serving in that office for two years, he was promoted the Archbishop of Lagos in 1973 and got elevated to the office of Cardinal in 2003. As a Priest, Okogie did not only lead his sheep along the path of righteousness, he also stood for less privileged persons and spoke ceaselessly on their behalf. He was quick to join issues with governments whose actions and decisions do not favour the people. Now in retirement, he spoke to GBENGA SALAU on a range of issues concerning the country and his faith.
SOME people have argued that Nigeria has not achieved much in spite of her resources, because religious leaders tend to romance the political class, instead of calling them to order when the need arises; do you agree?
I will not agree with you that it is only the religious leaders that are romancing with the political leaders; I do not think it is true. It is the society as a whole, and people like to romance where the pasture is green. But unfortunately, religious leaders happen to be among them and they are members of the society, so we cannot exclude ourselves. It is a pity that a good number of those who call themselves religious leaders today are not religious leaders; they only became religious leaders because they want to feed their tummy and because the Bible and the Koran is available for everybody. And they feel they can take it up, read and interpret it to suit themselves; but no way. And this is why they are not keeping to their calling
Unfortunately also, all these people who form churches get approval from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). When we were there in Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), we told them, they have no right to approve any church because the church is something spiritual, even the Lord Jesus Christ said that you should give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.
Churches belong to the spiritual spheres. For example, any religious leader that dabble into politics, I do not say that politics is bad because it is part and parcel of us, but the problem is that when they go into politics, they forget that is not there field. For CAC, we tried to tell them that they have no right to license the formation of a church. Already, we have about two or three associations that cater to religious groups, so these large groups, when somebody comes up to say he wants to form a church, why not send him to these groups, let them screen him, whether he is genuine or not. Not CAC, which is for business, that is why most of these people, when they are licensed they go into business and they say they are preaching the gospel and show you the certificate from CAC to back up their work. Who is at fault? It is not our fault and this was what we were fighting for when CAN began. This is it.
Because of the love of money and materialism, things began to take another different shape. The religious leaders began to say, ‘why can’t I do this or that, after all, I am a human being, God says this, God said that;’ who ever heard from God. It is the conscience that dictates all these things. And if you read the Bible properly, you cannot serve God and mammon together, it is not possible. This is why these people mislead their followers and are always after money. For instance, what does a religious leader have to do with a jet plane or many wives? The Bible says we are in the world but not of the world. So they want to be in both, they cannot.
Therefore, how can we attain development when those who are supposed to knock you on the head when you go wrong, are not there? This is the problem and this is what we have at the moment and how many religious leaders can you point to that are straightforward and godly? There are lay people today who are far better than religious leaders, but they also keep their mouths shut. But I also wonder, why can’t they talk too because they are part of the society. So that is why I said it is not only religious leaders. It is just greed and a lot of religious leaders have lost their calling and they have nowhere to go; that is why they are pushing on. Some are even going into politics. I often see commissioner so, so, so with Reverend title before his name, what is he looking for there. Are we saying we cannot sanitise these places from outside, because good example teaches best? So what are you looking for inside? Once you are there, gradually with time, you will want to play along. This is the problem.
But has the church provided good example?
This is because ....

Politics › Re: ‘supporters Of SNC Asking For Civil War’ by DerideGull(m): 2:37pm On Sep 22, 2013 |
speshsworld: The National Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has criticised the call for a sovereign national conference, saying the proponents of the conference are asking for another civil war.
In an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, Mohammed said the conference would not solve the problems of corruption, illiteracy and poverty facing the country and noted that such national conferences had yielded negative results in countries such as Niger Republic, Benin Republic, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He said, “The most spectacular failure of the national conference system is that of DR Congo. DR Congo is a big country with big problems. It’s a classical example of what you call a failed state. They held a sovereign national conference with so much fanfare. At the end of the day, what they had was not only a coup but a revolution.
“So, I have news for those who believe national conference is the panacea for the problems of Nigeria. Most of the problems of Nigeria today are contextual problems. The sovereign national conference in Nigeria will not solve the problems of corruption, illiteracy and poverty. It will not give an honest and realistic government and it will not give a sincere and responsible revenue allocation formula. These are the problems of Nigeria.
“No country, so far, has disintegrated peacefully. What they are asking or demanding is that we go through another civil war. If they want that, they are more than welcome. But they should be man enough to come out and say we want to disintegrate this country and we are prepared for the consequences. The first consequence is war; the second is the attendant consequences of war. We don’t have anything to fear.”
Mohammed argued that the North had far more advantage over the South, when it comes to war, stating that any set of people who attempt to disintegrate the country would be crushed in the way of Biafra.
“The last time the Igbo carried out their own coup, in which they killed people from other ethnic groups and there was retaliation and they started talking about war, we had war. Who lost? They did.
Over one million lives were lost and over 90 per cent of them were Igbo. And the people who instigated the Igbo to go to war were Lagosians. When they took up the challenge, these people withdrew from them. If they want that now, I wish them good luck” he said.
Read more http://www.speshsworld.com/2013/09/supporters-snc-asking-civil-war/ Let me tell Dr. Junaid Mohammed that his attempt to use threat of civil war to blackmail the call for a sovereign national conference in Nigeria is an effort in futility. Nigeria had civil war once and any idea to have second round to finally conclude the war is as good as man-made. It good to note that Mallam Junaid Mohammed acknowledged Nigeria’s problems are mainly contextual. The backbone of Nigeria’s problem is lack of patriotic unity. Many years ago, a prominent Nigerian once declared “Nigeria is a mere geographical expression” and today, nothing has changed. |

Happy Sunday, Resilient NIGERIANS! From reading the above post, it is safe to say you reasoned like an ordinary typical Nigerian who would want to drive the latest cars yet no roads in Nigeria. May I ask which unity you want to fight for country? There is no bases for unity you spoke about in Nigeria because according to you, there are many nationalities that were idiotically lumped together by colonialist interests. You do not need to worry about being subjugated by a majority that speaks Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo because there should be a country with only Idoma people as its inhabitants. Unless you are sickly doubtful about the ability of Idoma people to stand and be able to build their county. I can assure you that Republic of Igbo land will not annex Idoma land rather will come to the defense of Idoma Republic if attacked by other imaging nation states from the rubbles of disintegrated Nigeria. |

Sincere 9gerian: Sometimes I wonder where some of these mischievous reports emanate from? Is it that some people just hate the fact that the Enugu Airport is now open to the outside world and the hatred has now boiled over to the extent of sponsoring media propaganda to discredit the Airport? Or do the newspapers just deliberately push out such mischievous report so that the authorities will deny the report and PAY for the rebuttal to be published? I know HATERS exist, but hating to the extent of sponsoring false reports is what I dont understand.
Meanwhile, this is also why I wasn't bothered about the media propaganda with regards to Enugu Disco and Interstat electric. Can you imagine that while the media was busy trying to pull down the house because Interstate completed payment within 21 days window, the media completely neglected one of the generation companies that could not conclude payment even after the 21 days window? That company (the prefered bidder for Sapele power plant) has not completed payment, even till today. But we didn't hear about that in the media. I heard for it for the FIRST TIME on radio yesterday. Yet I cant count the number of articles or reports on the Enugu Disco and interstat electric. The mischievous reports emanate mainly from Punch and Tribune News media houses. Are you a leaner? |
