The All Progressives Congress stalwart and senator representing Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday described Governor Udom Emmanuel’s victory in Saturday’s governorship polls as a “purchased victory which must be reclaimed.”

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate and re-elected governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, was, on Sunday, declared the winner of a total 519,712 votes to defeat his APC candidate, Nsima Ekere who came behind with 171,978 votes.

But speaking with our correspondent on the outcome of the elections in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Akapbio said it was too early for Governor Emmanuel to celebrate his victory, adding that the APC would exploit appropriate legal means to retrieve it.

He claimed that the results collated from the fields were different from the ones declared by the returning officers of the various local governments areas of the state, adding that APC won the elections at the polling units but lost at the INEC offices.

“I was shocked when I saw the figures being brandished on the television.

“I wondered if it they were the same results we got on the field that they were announcing on the television channels. This shows that Nigeria is in trouble.

“I want to state categorically that those claiming victory, or those regarded as victors in the last election in Akwa Ibom State on the 9th of March should regard it as purchased victory. It was money at work. The people’s hopes were dashed.

“So, I want to tell Udom Emmanuel and his Peoples Democratic Party that it is too early to celebrate now. We will use appropriate legal means to reclaim that mandate” Akpabio said.

Akpabio alleged that his local government, which reportedly gave the APC governorship candidate 74,000 votes at the local government collation centres, was reduced to only 60,000 in INEC office.

He accused INEC of “employing PDP members as collation officers,” stressing that 99% of the collation officers, especially, those sent to his local government area, were card-carrying PDP members.

In reaction, Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini, described the election as “free, fair and credible.”

He said, “When we returned to Akwa Ibom one year, six months and 10 days ago, we promised that we were going to deliver integrity-driven electoral process and that all old things must past away

“That is what we promised; that is what we delivered. We provided leadership; the people, the staff of the Commission and the entire electorate of this state. That is what we have done.”

Meet APGA Candidate Who Won Because He Was Insulted That His Mother Sells Akara

Two candidates from Nnewichi, Nnewi came out during APGA primaries as candidates to represent Nnewi North LGA in Anambra State House of Assembly.

Mr N (lets call him that) is the son of a very rich man in Nnewi. He had his PhD in London. His father owns a factory. He introduces himself as the son of his father because he has no identity of his own, other than being attached to his father's company. His father spent millions of naira for his campaign and other 'big men' also supported him.

Meanwhile, Mr Smart Nonso Okafor is a poor fatherless young man but very intelligent and an orator. His father died when they were young. His widowed mother fries and sells (bean cakes) "akara" and with people's help, she managed to train her kids. Smart Nonso schooled at Oko Polytechnic and was a SUG President. He has also held so many positions in Youth Organizations in Anambra State.

During campaign, "Mr N" said he is so much qualified after all he is the son of Chief and it would be best suited to represent Nnewi peoples and that his opponent, Mr Smart Nonso "bu nwa nwanyi na eghe akara" (son of akara woman) "so he is not qualified".

This statement angered Nnewi people and they campaigned for Mr Smart Nonso instead. Some candidates who wanted to contest within APGA for the said post withdrew and started supporting Mr Smart Nonso.

After the primaries, Mr Smart Nonso won and Mr N entered YPP and won the ticket to run for the said post. Again, his father "pumped" more money for his election campaign.

During the House Of Assembly election of last Saturday, people paid money to all akara frying women, provided firewood and ground beans and asked them to keep frying akara. Akara was declared free of charge in Nnewichi. Vote for Smart Nonso and eat as much as you want.

After the election, Mr N and his father with other rich men supporting them were bent on thwarting the result but God of the poor widowed mother said NO..Eventually Mr Smart Nonso was declared winner. There is jubilation everywhere in Nnewi.

There was a massive protest today by women of Oyigbo area of Rivers state after a young graduate identified as Chijioke, a son of the soil, was killed by men in police uniform who shot him dead at close range.

It was gathered that the men in police uniforms thugs killed the victim during collation of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.

The incident happened at the St Paul’s Catholic Church close to Oyigbo market.

According to an eyewitness account, four men in police uniforms invaded the collation centre to snatch ballot boxes but when challenged, shot sporadically killing the handsome man on the spot.

They afterwards fled the scene of the murder in a white unmarked Toyota Hilux van.

On this note, the First Lady of Oyigbo LGA, Mrs. Chinwe Oforji in line with the LGA Vice Chairperson, Hon. Mrs. Charity Ekeke, took to the streets of Oyigbo with the entire women of Oyigbo to demand justice for the death of their son Chijioke.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt's Zonal Office have arrested seven party agents suspected to be involved in vote- buying. Gistvic Reports.

They were arrested variously in Owerri, Imo State and Umuahia, Abia State.

Six of them were arrested together in Owerri and they are: Ohiry Nnenna; Chigozie Innocent; Nwabueze Nkemdirim; Onyejekwe Chinonye, Ikemenogu Ijeoma and Iteghire Vitus. A sum of N252, 100( Two Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand, One Hundred Naira only) meant for vote -buying was found on them. Gistvic Reports.

The 7th agent, sensing arrest in Umuahia, abandoned his car and disappeared into thin air. The car, has however, been impounded. A sum of N600,000( Six Hundred Thousand Naira Only) was found in it when it was searched.
