remizvxcq: Agreed with desiji, Pylontech US3000B, the 3.5kWh version can set one back GBP1200 plus 20% VAT. The main issue is shipping, because these lithium batteries are considered as dangerous goods. One distributor wants GBP2500 per battery plus 20% VAT to deliver each battery to Nigeria.
So, a better solution may be direct import from China. However beware that many low-cost LiFePO4 packs are made from B-grade used EV batteries and have non-robust BMS.
By the way, I will soon have a good deal that features RS485 and is made with top-10 OEM cells and BMS. Currently priced at NGN1,257,855 for 48v 5.8kWh, including installation. It is rack-mountable, with handles and a 10-year Performance Guarantee from RITILITY. Bulk prices negotiable.
I have expressions of interest from corporate customers for complete energy storage solutions (ESS) featuring 5 yr+ warranty, SOC alarms, CAN and RS485 comms, etc. So, if you have a good import deal or want to be part of profitable investment, call +234/0 81 O 337 O 89 O 9 for discussions.

Barezzi: What's the ballpark figure of 5 modules, Pylontech US3000B? Sorry i was not online yesterday night. The Pylontechs us300plus cost like 1500€ at my end i am currently handling with them if they can cut the price the two Us2000plus i bought they gave a discount and i guess if you are buying more something would be done, funny enough the us3000plus is cheaper in S.A but i know no shipper from there and trusting somebody with such amount , but i can qualitative say the pylontechs are good for the money ,till now not disappointed and doing its duty like a soldier

ojeysky: A quick check on the US2000plus series, it comes with a 2.4kwh. The one am using have almost double of that at lesser price and I think I may have forgotten to mention it earlier, it comes with warranty as well. How many years warranty do you get with yours? Mine is 3 years and It can also be paralleled
However yes those figures you are quoting indeed can cost 2 kidneys (depends on who is selling though) and ofcourse yours would/may have more bells and esthetic than mine. For instance I can't tell accurately determine the battery circle number but it seem yours monitors that. The Pylontech's come with registration of 10years warranty and the BMS is one of the best in the Market, there are LEDs which tells you state of charge and if you set the the cut off voltage it cuts it off without and still safegaurd itself from complete deplection by shutting down |

ojeysky: It doesn't have to be that expensive, unless you think the quality of LFP I got is questionable Sorry but it is if you want all this completely finished product with Warranty, I am using the Pylontech US20000 Plus that cost from my end 1200€ i am now upgrading to 2x us2000plus plus 1x us3000plus which when you change to Naira cost like the 2 Kidneys. but i have the absolute warranty i have testeted the 1 us2000plus for over one year i have about 267 circles on it i can add the others because it is modular |

ojeysky: Yes I agree it's not a true indication, I tried to use the daily battery discharge(see attached picture earlier shared) and the voltage to correlate things as well.
Meanwhile is there any better(close to accurate) way to determine true capacity of batteries?

DUNKA: looks a like an Axpert clone branded under Felicity. Those inverters charging parameters do not give it a true and proper 3 stage charging of bulk, absorbtion and float. The behave more like bulk chargers. Before you go for the change of all your batteries you may look at the inverter you are currently using. Regards He is not using the inverter to charge but the victron i guess so that dosen't play a role |

I have been trying to set my battery cut off voltage above 24v but that has not been possible, the highest I could set was 23.9v and that is not the 50% DoD that I wanted. Any idea on how to go about this? hi Ojesky why do you want to increase your cut-off voltage? the cut-off voltage should be lower than your battery voltage as that is the position you set so that your battery shouldn't be dangerously depleted |

hancock: Hi bigrovar, welcome to Lagos One thing I have come to realize in going solar is that batteries are the weak link and you can end up spending a fortune on it just to get it right. Just like you I was in the market for battery replacement some few months ago, when the 4 units of 200AH Monbat batteries i was using suddenly gave way less than two years of usage. Interestingly, I had a victron BMV 712 hooked up to the battery bank and also with battery balancers making sure I rarely discharge less than 50% of capacity and yet, they failed to even see past 2 years of usage Quanta batteries were being hyped left right and center some couple of months back on this forum but going through the sheet specs, their cycles were abysmal. I had wanted to double my 48V 200AH bank so buying 8 batteries would cost about 1M and in two years time get replacement for another sets say 1M. so going Lead acid route, in two years I will be spending 2M on batteries just when the quanta battery debate was heating up, a couple of folks also suggested Lithium Batteries. I reluctantly started researching on LiFeP04 having full knowledge that their initial cost for procurement can cost an arm and a leg. Long story short, spent weeks on researching and carrying out cost comparison overtime between lead and lithium, I finally settled for Pylontech US3000 Lithium batteries. There are other rugged and less expensive brands of lithium which I also personally feel will perform better than Lead acid batteries anytime any day that you can also choose from. Personally I believe lead acid batteries are not suitable for Nigerian market due to regular power outage that can last for days/weeks forcing one to heavily discharge and re-charge the batteries I Hope this helps...……… PS: Battery balancers appears to be the culprit in the untimely death of my previous bank. story for another day...... That was why before i started my Solar installation did a lot of research before starting my installation, https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta/488#74100132I decided on some factors before deciding on pylontech batterries a) they are modular that means you can add to your battery bank as money permits b) when i installed mine they were just annoucing the US3000 plus so you can also mix the usb2000 with the 30000 c) integrated BMS that stop you for either overcharging or undercharging the Battery d) i have been using mine for over 1 year and still going strong and retaining charges |

pranil: My latest project .
The AC power ( Daikin inverter AC) is controlled by a SONoff TH16 ( flashed with Tasmota firmware)
The TH16 controller is controlled by the APM ( advanced power management) software based on how much load the battery is seeing. Below -10 Amp draw means either NEPA available or solar is sufficient more than - 16 amp ( 48 V battery) means other loads are high enough to switch off AC
Control by other parameters such as battery voltage, SOC, grid power, wattage also possible
THE APM software is made by the same South African guys who make ICC to interface with Aexpert /Voltronix /Ipower and BMV
the Aexpert use can use similar seup to control things like water heater or for that matter any other loads - Maxium four independent units can be controlled
The same can also can be achieved without APM using NODERED but requires deeper JSON/Python understanding Did you buy the complete APM with the soonoffs or only the Software and did the TH16 was brought from somewhere else and the you did the firmware upgrade yourself? |

adanny01: Type of gas is a whole new dimension.
Assuming you have same brand technology of compressor and refrigerant, longer piping means more volume, more volume means more refrigerant more refrigerant means more power to deliver the same pressure of gas to the evaporator. Yes, the refrigerant type does matter, in most cases you cant simply change your refrigerant so the refrigerant issue is not the issue here.
Assuming its 1kw, a compressor at a distance of 20m cannot possibly deliver that 1kw exactly as it would 1m away from the evaporator. here we go again the density of a gas is not proportional to the area it depend on the kind of gas and its abilities and by the way, who is going to place his or her eveporator 20miles from the split? |

jabolo: I am researching the multisplit options as I also abhor the clutter. Trouble is, the original building design ought to have considered it in the first place and hidden ducts can be provided for. It is difficult to retrofit into a completed building.
Having said that, we'll get there someday, so I would appreciate recommendations on the best vendors for multisplits in Nigeria.
Thanks in advance. Iam bringing mine done from Base i already did the consideration im my build so it was implemented in the building and so there was no visble pipes. 2ndly i found out that the cabling was different fro the one being sold in Nigeria thank God we already thought ahead. The one i am bringing down have WIFI which means you can program them when and how you want them to RUN and with the Solar software i am using you can use SONOFF gadgets tto do IOT however you want it |

adanny01: By my estimation a 3 bedroom flat would require 1hp per room plus dining and a 2 hp for the living room. This brings the total to 6hp in comparison to the same powered central cooling.
Before i continue, it is a fact that a window AC unit is more efficient to a split AC system. Reasons being that power waste by longer piping and distance between evaporator and compressor. These leads to losses in cooling capacity and pumping capacity. Longer piping also leads to increased costs.
The same effect is multiplied in the central AC where the refrigerant pipes are far longer leading to greater loss of efficiency. This does not even account for more insulation, more electrical connections/control gadgets and more installation cost.
In other words, a 6hp window unit required by a 3 bedroom may be equivalent to 8hp slit ac and equivalent to 10hp central ac. Secondly, all costs are increased while more cooling capacity is required leading to more cost.
The VRF is a technology which means more cost too. In the end, when you talk about cost, central ac is quite expensive. That is not true with the new gas system which is more enviroment friendly and it density is also very light (R32) you hardly need a big HP and distance dosen't play a big role till 60metres and height till about 10metres |
