Politics / Re: What Has Happened To Nema's Flood Prediction by devour129: 11:50am On Oct 18, 2013
wesley80: I personally believe the farcical prediction is enough for someone to lose his job. You guys need to understand the level of distortion this prediction caused in riverine communities that experienced last year's traumatic floods. Accomplished farmers refused to plough their land for fear of losing their crops as they did last year with most resorting to cultivating only basic quick maturing crops, needless to say lots of households bore the brunt of a baseless prediction. I know of at least one large scale plantain farming family that makes close to a 100k in weekly harvests and suffered the devastation of last years floods but had to sit out this farming season due to those warnings, they are now neck deep in debt!
I've seen data collected from an ongoing nationwide research on rice cultivation and of interest was the lack of cultivation of the crop in certain local goverments in Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers state that hitherto had an appreciable number of rice farmers, I'd thought those areas were not covered due to accessibility but was told farmers there had to shelve their planting plans due to the flood warnings - we are talking of entire local governments in at least thrre states here! You can extrapolate on the combined effects of the warning on entire farming communities along the coast of the Niger and Benue that had no choice but to sit out the farming season.
The question remain: on what basis were this warnings issued? Did these guys have the capacity to issue warnings a year ahead ( the warnings were issued before the rains started!). Last years flood was the worse in living memory, I remember an old man while recounting the story said he'd marked on the wall of his fathers the extent of the greatest flood he'd witnessed that occured during the civil war (1967) as at when he was speaking, his entire house was already under water! To put it in context, NIMET's warning said this years floods would be greater than last years! Now do you understand the level of apprehension these people were needlessly put into especially as state and local government authorities had to drum this into their ears believing they were preparing them for the inevitable?
I believe NIMET should be made to answer some very serious questions here. What went wrong? Who goofed? Who's the alrmist that doesnt deserve tax payers money? The DG ought to talke some responsibilty and apologise for distorting peoples lives bigtime.
you have said it all

ßeiηg fiηancially iη∂epen∂ent is oηe thiηg, ßeiηg fiηancially seηsible is αησther thiηg. . . most la∂ies woυld rather spend money on make-ups and other inconsistential ornaments rather than invest in a business or support the family. to some married women, the man's money is everybody's money while their money is for them alone. it's funny how a financially stable woman still expects her husband to always give her pocket money daily.

some of the women that exhibit there attribute owns big shops, supermarket etc.. also, these businesses were opened by the husbands.

the question is...

"what do they use the money they earn for?"

---------------
a guy will send his girlfriend airtime of N500 and she will still flash the guy to say 'thank you.'

we all talk about gender equality, yet you ask your girlfriend out on a tryst and she will come along with her friends without your fore-knowledge, demands above your capacity and puts you in trouble. the annoying part is the way she'll ask you to settle the bills like you own her money.

funny enough, you board a shuttle with your girl and when you guys alight from the bus she expects you to clear the bills.

the list goes on and on. . . we keep asking ourselves, what do ladies do with the money they earn, it's high time girls learn to be financially independent. reason is when they do so, men will respect them more, she won't look like a burden to him, and he won't take you for granted et all!!

..
All izz well
this is very personal for you ,sorry love.xxxooo

bellong:

Why not start by reading and listening to good stories.... There are millions of successful marriages across the world, you only chose to listen to the bad ones.
We are what we listen to or attract. Change your perception, read good books, undertake a personal study of people who are in a successful and blissful union, then you will have good stories to share.

The creator of marriage knew we wouldn't be complete without it. Yes, it's one of the best gifts we can get from Him. Bad marriages are results of failures of the parties involved beginning from when they were still singles till they got married.

Between, you expect people to come here and tell you that their marriages are hell? Really!!!!!!
a million likes ! if you hang out with the wrong crowd you will hate marriage,do change your friends
Romance / Re: What Are Your Fears About Marriage ? by devour129: 12:05pm On Oct 08, 2013
lorretta u: first of all you need to stop being materialistic.you place too much stock on material things.that's bad.have you tried to build up your other inter personal skill and tolerance for others?

Maybe you should open up your heart some more.learn to love.if you learn to love, giving will never be an issue in your marriage.the principal act of love is manifest in giving.
Note;

"For God so LOVED the world, that he GAVE"

If you aren't afriad of giving, you'll never lose.
Secondly marry a woman who'll contribute to the family upkeep.of course you've to know what she does and can do before you marry her.so if she's working,do you think she'll also be a liability? Of course not

And then the idea of 'kicking' your wife out sounds hilarious.isn't a partnership?I mean marriage?where does kicking out come in.
Divorce is a better word for it.
But then if you're already thinking of divorce when you aren't even hooked up yet, that shows you've already made up your mind not to put in effort to make the marriage work.

And no marriage works without sacrifice and hard work on the parts of both partners.

That being said,I think your fear of marriage should be that
'You don't know if you'll ever be ready to love somebody'
full stop

pacesetter808: I can see a few comments on here about Ondo State rejecting the body of the late governor, hence the mishap. When will we throw away all these stupid beliefs imparted on us by our fore-fathers who were neither educated nor exposed? I must say the strong believe we have in all these cultural crap is one of the many reason Nigeria as a country won't move forward. While the white man was building ships to sail to the other end of the world, guns to conquer other parts of the world, planes to fly around the world our fore-fathers were busy chasing rats about the bush and impregnating every woman they considered as sexually attractive forcefully or otherwise. I'm expected to live by primitive beliefs which they laid down even in 2013? In as much as some parts of our culture should be preserved, a good chunk of it should be dispersed......never to be remembered. Logical questions to ask would have been the mechanical condition of the plane before it took off, were protocols met before take off?, was the pilot overworked or under pressure of any sort? These are likely reasons for any plane crash, not any stupid gods rejecting the body of the late governor. This should be a wake up call for other politicians. I implore all politicians to make efforts to impart as positively as they can on Nigeria to make it a better place. There's an old English adage 'Nobody prays for accidents but they do happen; prevention is better than cure'. Let's all work together to make Nigeria a safer and more habitable place to live.

R.I.P to the lost souls.
then you shouldn't believe in God too!

Okija_juju: Olusegun Agagu... Hmmmm!!!

It is a Taboo that a Corpse should die twice in Igbo Land.. He should be investigated before being buried. His hands are not clean. Ondo State is rejecting his body.. Sacrifices have to be offered before this man can be buried. I am afraid that he might have taken the lives of some family members along with him, cos I doubt that his corpse was put on that plane without his Wife or one of his Children or Relatives on board.

Let the face of the gods be sought first before burying this man... He didnt even die a normal death, now he has taken another 20 people along with him...

The gods have spoken! #Thats all
you are right ! but some people who don't understand that there's something like the spirit realm will call us superstitious
