AgricultureRe: I Need A Serious Business Partner To Invest In Moringa Farming. by dgitrader(m): 5:51pm On Apr 15, 2016
kpas4kpas:
I have a large market of Moringa seed supply. There are hectares of land in Abuja to farm Moringa, I also have all the technical know-how to grow and maintain Moringa from raising of the seedlings for planting to harvesting with high yield guarantee within one year and the best time to start is now so that by the end of the rain our farm would be ready for flowers. All I want from my partners is to support me financially. We meet to inspect the land, agree on terms and conditions, back up with understandable MOU with sharing formula etc. For more details and investment proposal, call 08038850756, 08121863947.
hello OP, nice proposal, for clearity sake, can u give a brief of financial estimate of farming moringer per hectare? and wheres the intended farm? lastly what are the duration of the partnership

AgricultureRe: If watermelon is so profitable, why are farmers not cultivating it commercially? by dgitrader(m): 11:41pm On Apr 08, 2016
DeLaRue:
It seems people make like N250,000 per acre after 4 months of hard toil and hand-in-mouth suspense not knowing whether disease will destroy the watermelon plants overnite. Agree with Op, for the effort and risk involved, the reward is somewhat low.

Probably not bad if you are a subsistence full time farmer and live in a village or small town and have modest aspirations. Or you want to do it part time, which appears to carry even more risk.

If you can put the same effort into one acre of tomato (assuming 4,000 plants per acre) and you achieve 3kg yield per plant, that should give you 12,000 kg of tomatoes. Now, if you can plan for your tomato plants to fruit between May and June when wholesale price is around N250 per kg, you should end up with about N3 million. Even if you reduce that by N1m, you still end up with N2 million. This is still almost 10 times better than you get with watermelon!

One thing about watermelon though is its ubiquituos presence in almost every street shops these days. Same cant be said about cucumber...at least in my state. Not many seem to buy cucumber in my state, as most of the ones I see look stale and unfresh, perhaps due to lack of sale.

Based on my own careful assessment...pound for pound, the most profitable vegetable to plant in Southern Nigeria is tomato, PROVIDED:

1. You can get a decent yield - our hot & humid weather is not as good for tomatoes as the weather in the far northern states

2. You make sure your tomato arrives between May & June. Anything outside of these 2 months, you could be in big trouble.
I concur.

Do you know precisely location where sisal is grown in Nigeria?
plateau, bauchi, and by extension it will do well in Benue, nassarawa, fct, kaduna and niger.
AgricultureRe: Tanzania Set To Surpass Brazil Top Sisal Grower In The World by dgitrader(m): 3:46am On Apr 08, 2016
This crazy crop. No fertilizer needed, no pest worries, no insects, no grazing attacks, no thefts, no weeds, no drought, no mentainance. Even fire cant kill it. Wasting away all over the north. Yet some countries earn bullions from it. We even import its finished products. What a shame. How I wish theres any processors around, I will love to cultivate it.

xana101:
All na wash.
The Govt loan won't get to d hand of the masses. It would be diverted. Skye agric loan was diverted to manufacturing firm, instead of farmers. Farmers are surfering in Nigeria. Govt don't give a hook about them. Only God will save Nig from the same Govt (individual) who has been ruling us since 1960. The youth in Nig are not yet born.
haba

there is and will always be diversion of fund to non agric investors, mind u at least 35% till goes out to the real targets, there's no crime for anyone to still get part of that fund.
PhonesRe: Why You Should Not Register MTN With Your BVN Details by dgitrader(m): 5:42am On Jan 31, 2016
BVN is strictly for identity verification. Not a password, pin, signature or authorisation. The fear is unwarranted.
Btw... there isnt personal data protection law existing in nigeria today. So its too late to worry, our personal datas are out there for any interested bidder that knows her way. From inec, frsc, banks, telecoms, church, hospital, emails, professional bodies , employers etc.
Keep ur password, pin, signature or authorisations safe and sensitive, expect the worst, and hope for the best.

can one get training on livestock i.e fish, cattle pig, goat and grasscutter farming at songhai
good question. however, they require you to choose specific subject not combined.
visit their website, study the subjects, mail or call them, they will respond with a brochure. and most importantly visit the link I posted earlier and get good information without paying a dime.

Tomorrow l would do a post with a video on using the regular okada to pump water from a 40ft well or from the river for irrigation using less than a litre of petrol in an hour to pump about 22,000 litres of water, watched it on TV this evening.
great concept, but can it draw water from a well or a stream 30 meters away?
AgricultureRe: Magic Of Hydroponics Soiless/ Vertical Farming by dgitrader(m): 6:30am On Jan 15, 2016
Maple:
I like your setup, its impressive. I do grow hydroponic fodder for my livestock, very nutritious.
When hydroponic lab is situated outdoors, the issue of uniformity in sprouts growth or seeds not sprouting, can pose a problem even with good seeds. This I avoid by not exposing my sprouted seeds to light a bit too early. While watering the seeds, they should be deprived of sunlight for about 3-4 days prior to exposure. Some Cardboard or thick woolen clothes could be used to cover d trays.
OP, please more details!
How true is this....
'' 1kg of maize, sorghum, millet, and wheat can be converted to 10kg of fodders within 9days, and the "digestibility" from about 25% to around 95%.'' Under what conditions and with how many traystands and square meters?

Please, with this system, explain if 60 rams can be fattened on half acre using good farm practices.

after about 2 weeks, you will notice this ...... grin

you will still need to wait a while longer to make the roots develop.

you can sacrifice one to check if roots have formed by removing the soil from it.
nice one OP. I used this same method on moringa trees and got excellent results. the moringa stems where about 2 feet ea h. in less than a year they started flowering.
PropertiesRe: (photos)rampant Structural Window Cracks! Why? by dgitrader(op): 8:10am On Jan 13, 2016
podosci:
It still falls under the umbrella of what we have all been saying... DO your soil test before embarking on your project, it would definitely save you alot of money in the long run
But again due to lack of professionalism in Nigeria coupled with poor Government regulation, it's difficult to get accurate geotechnical test done. Most companies just dig soil sample without differentiating the disturbed and undisturbed and go onto the lab to formulate data...... God would save us all in the country
what if the entire topsoil is scraped by a grader 2 meters deep?
PropertiesRe: (photos)rampant Structural Window Cracks! Why? by dgitrader(op): 7:56am On Jan 13, 2016
ADAMUdaCOWBOY:
OP I noticed the same thing in my cousin's house and other neighboring buildings. These cracks occurred only at the lower parts of the windows where tension should be less. He asked me why and I couldn't give an immediate reply. Many people here said it's due to soil and foundation issues, if that's so then why are the cracks only under the windows? When lintels are being constructed, wooden struts are often used to support the lintels which in turn transfer the weight of the lintel to the wall below. That may be the reason behind the faint cracks and as a solution, I think supporting lintels by bracing on the side of the window openings is a better way out.
thanks, this is another valid point.

PropertiesRe: (photos)rampant Structural Window Cracks! Why? by dgitrader(op): 3:24pm On Jan 10, 2016
RichYoungRuler:
Hi Sir, I have noticed this over time and my studies reveal they are settlement and shrinkage cracks like abdulwastecx wrote. It can usually be remedied by hacking that area off and replastering.
One thing I do now in fresh buildings is to install nets around those prone to areas before screeding and I have seen improvements tho you ma not be able to predict all areas but its limited with that. Nothing will do your building should you decide to leave it too just unsightly for a new building.
Well said

Defects in Plaster regularly fall into this categories
•Non-structural cracks •Structural cracks •Debonding •Lack of hardness •Grinning •Expansion •Popping
BUT your cracks seems to have occurred before the application of Plaster leading me to conclude it's a structural (serviceability) crack. I have come across something of that nature in a book ( construction technology by Eric fleming) where he talks about cracks in and around Windows and doors.... I would try and check and get back to you.
Nice points
Please update us with your findings. As for the cracks, they only showed up months after plastering. Not before the plastering.
Also I just discovered 100% of fences here have such cracks. The thing tire me, even a nearbyfirstbankk branch is not spared. The sight is unpleasant
