Romance / Re: She Slept With My Best Friend by dhappyking(m): 2:34pm On Dec 02, 2013
The truth be told, Bro. The best thing you can do for yourself and your two 'friends' is to forgive them. But for your own good, never consider a relationship with her again. Or can you bear the thought of looking at her, knowing what she did. How she lied about it and would have concealed it if you didn't know any better.
Believe me, you may be able to forgive her, but forgetting? I doubt if you can. Quit while there is still hope. It is bad enough that she cheated on you, but with your best friend? That is a memory I believe you will like to delete ASAP.

Investment / Re: How Would You Advice Me To Spend My Salary(150k) by dhappyking(m): 9:52pm On Oct 01, 2013
First, if you are a Christian and believe in tithe, start paying it now, every month. Then ensure you 'pay your self' first before any expenses. This implies putting away a %age (at least 10%) of your salary to be invested later. Do you work with a budget? If not, start immediately. Your budget must be done about a week before pay day. Good a thing you already know most of your routine expenses, so follow through by apportioning the funds accordingly. You can go further by tracking you daily expenses to know where most of the funds are going. You and your gal may not be the problem, it could be friends and relatives that keep requesting or borrowing and never pay back. You may wish to review the expenses you make on some things. Say phone calls are they absolutely necessary. Well, you can do it as the advice here are all in line with a step in the right direction. Finally, educate yourself on money. I recommend books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Richest man in Babylon, if you haven't read them already. But then the wisdom is in the practice not the mere knowledge. Good luck!

Good move; you are seeking solution. Just ask you mom or a close buddy what exactly your doing wrong. But as a pointer you can apply the golden rule when talking to people. Talk to people the way you will love them to talk to you. Politeness might be the keyword, but then it is relative or subjective if you get what I mean.
Romance / Re: Is It Right 2 Have Sex With A Married Woman?? by dhappyking(m): 8:58pm On Sep 08, 2013
If this were to be an opinion poll, I believe you know where the balance is tilted. There are two category of the opposite sex you should avoid tampering with; the married and the ordained. Someting tells me the consequence could be heavier than with the others. Not that fornication is good in any ramification. But then of course, the fear of what you wanted to do got you asking questions. If you haven't done it already, then DON'T! Your conscience can not handle what will follow, ok?

The first question I thought someone would have asked is 'which year's budget?'we 'r already in February 2013 and the 2013 budget is still being debated by the house. When will the final approval and implementation eventually take place? After every thing now, the house will start accusing the executive of not implemeting the budget fully. Same old stories. When will things change for the better in this nation? Just wondering aloud!

I have known about Zodiac signs ages ago.I may not believe all it says but I think it has a level of influence on human charcters, relationships and compatibility.
To cite an instance, I am a virgo, going by the date of birth/signs and I discovered that a particular description of the Virgos I read once matched my character, personality and even physique! The only point they went off target was on the colours that I like.
So this may not be written off completely, as it could also affect marriage.
Politics / Re: Sanusi To FG: Sack 50% Of Civil Servants by dhappyking(m): 9:04am On Nov 28, 2012
On this one I disagree with the governor, again. We should look beyond sack, sack, SACK and SACK! This approach saw the banks trimming down their staff. Has that really solved their problems? It is good to free funds to upgrade our infrastructures. But all these savings, infrastructure and whatever, who are they for? Are they not for the people. if democracy is indeed a government for the people, its main objective should be to make life batter for the people and not impoverish it.
Do you think that countries that pay Social security to it's citizenry are stupid? Do we have such in the country? What I am saying is this, if our government continues to apply policies that will impoverish the people it will back- fire with time. most states have stopped the popular okada, commercial bykes, leading to loss of jobs without alternative means of livelihood. If the governement sacks too, what is the alternative sourc of income for the workforce.
What I think we should be doing is to see how best to make the civil servants more productive and create more industries in the country for employment, instead of sacking.
We can leverage on our teeming population to create factories and industries that can substitute all the imported products we have in the country these days. Our large population is a blessing and not a curse. Wether we think we can or we can not, either way we are right. The choice is ours.

Car Talk / Re: My Pugs Journey From Enugu To Uyo On Sunday 18th Nov 2012 (Update) by dhappyking(m): 11:53am On Nov 20, 2012
Good. I passed through this way recently, saturday. Thought about what you did but just couldn't. The strech through Umuahia Ngwa and Aba is even the worst. I noticed something though. Enugu end is not too bad and they are doing maintainenance work on it at the moment. Imo and Abia state stretches are horrible. Rivers is bad too but not as bad as these other two.
Is it anything to do with the atate governors since these are federal roads?
I also observed this pattern the last time I travelled to Lagos. Edo state end or stretch was the best. Ogun, ondo, Delta and Anambra have a lot of work to do on their federal roads. God bless Nigeria!

Nigeria police.

This whole thing sounds bizzare.Just like a Nollywood script. My thoughts are full of confusion and amazement. I dont know which is more appaling. The dastardly act of the kidnappers or the retrogressive contributions of the the police. Pls someone tell me that this is a joke.
I have always known that there is something wrong with the system here. But I find it difficult to believe that this whole things happened for real. It will be good to clean up this system, starting from the law enforcement agencies.
As for our friends here, who decided to turn the whole thing into another tribal issue instead of addressing the issues here that are strangling the nation. All I can say is may God help us!

Good news but honestly, i don't trust the promise by Abia gov to fix the road by 1st quarter of 2013

I FEEL U BROS! It's all about credibility, you know. Prof Nnaji gave his own target, 90% of the people here accepted and applauded his plans, without even going there to verifying.
Oga governor's comment can be taken with a pinch of salt because I passed through that area recently, the roads are something else.If he is serious about putting the roads in order. The time is now. By the time we enter first quarter of next year, the rains will be here again and will serve as an excuse. Pls nobody should educate me on budget here cos, the IPP did not start yesterday.

Politics / Re: Nigeria Scraps Canada Power Contract In Privatisation Setback by dhappyking(m): 9:59am On Nov 15, 2012
I may not know the details behind this whole thing. But I think this Mr. Due Process of a guy is very powerful in deed. He saw to the exit of very cabable, efficient and effective former minister of Power, Prof Bath Nnaji. He has now eased out Manitoba, just when we are expecting them to begin to deliver.Which other heads will roll soon?

Please, some one tell me, is this Mr. Due Process more important to some people than achieving the generally expected results?
My concern is that this whole thing is dragging on for too long. And with the delay follows confusion and suspicion. Must we continue to change horses at the middle of the stream?
Well as the saying gooes, the end justifies the means. So I shall be one of the people waiting to see the final out put of this powerful executor, Mr. Due Process in the power sector.

The bottom line is SELFISHNESS. All the reasons one might come up with are nothing but excuses. People do it simply because they place their personal desires over and above their partner/relationship.
There is nothing that can not be resolved. If you believe that it can not be resolved, then quit! My personal opinion and believe me, I am entitled to it.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Unconventional Job Interviews You Have Experienced. by dhappyking(m): 1:54pm On Nov 09, 2012
This Thread has been cool. I may not be able to share the details of my own interviews. But generally speaking, getting a job through an oral interview is more or less a matter of packaging. By this I mean how you come accross to the panel/individual on the other side of the table. Don't ignore these!
1. Physical appearance- Neat and smart , not necessrily expensive.
2. High level of confidence. You might be panicky or nervous; just put it under control and tell your self that it will not be the end of the world if you lose this time.
3. Be Positive; Exhibit that 'can do attitude' as positively as possible. If you are not sure of the answer, be honest about that but let them know how fast and willing you are at learning.
4. Research the company as much as you can. Sometimes they may come from the angle you least expected.
5. Being your first interview after school does not necessarily put you at disadvantage. Just make sure that you know what you studied in school. Chances are that there is someone there who has some level of knowledge in that your field, and he may just drill you on that.
The very first major interview I had after the University, saw me answering questions in Geography instead of banking and finance as should concern a bank where I was seeking for employment. The last level of interview was a mere formality as in "what is my objective in life? How far have I gone in achieveing that?" and stuff like that. The guy even appeared bored. I GOT THE JOB!
6. Be yourself and remain in control of your emotions. Some of them might want to annoy you by appearing bored and distracted from you yammering. Just ignore that. They may throw many questions at you, too, all at once. just concentrate and take them one at a time.Ask relevant questions where and when necessary. Dont be fooled into bursting out in anger or been drawn into an unnecessary arguement. You are there to get hired not argue a case or win an arguement. So be attentive and remain focused.
7. Who says you can't ask for the job? Remember Mathew 7;7. Find a perfect time and ask them for the job without appearing desperate or wussy. If you do it the right way, this could be the clincher!
These are based on my own personal experience and I think they have worked for me at least 80% of the time. Feel free to disagree on any or all the points here. We are all learning, I believe.
Good Luck,if you are one of those seeking right now. Seekers are finders!

Politics / Re: EFCC Arraigns Man Arrested With $7m Cash Today by dhappyking(m): 11:37am On Oct 19, 2012
If am not mistaken, the guy must be one of the couriers used by the Nigerian guys to move cash from here to Dubai for their business. For reasons best know to them, they prefer this mode of 'transfer' to the regular bank transfers done through the financial institutions. So I really doubt if it has much, if anything to do with the looting of public funds. His offence here may be in two parts. Having so much cash on him and not declaring the full amount.
Romance / Re: Is It Over?should I Move On? by dhappyking(m): 8:32am On Oct 10, 2012
It is so easy to judge from on angle, but there are many things that we do not know here.We have not, for example, heard your guy's side of the story.
After reading your story, it seemed to me that you guys were eventually getting somewhere only for things to scatter again. It seems to me that this new crisis commenced when you started complaining about his going out and clubbing habits that excluded you. I must be frank with you my Dear,it is never really easy to get it right 100%! So I will like you to address these pertinent posers for yourself.
1.Has this guy always been a clubbing type all these while and you now want him to change because he has proposed?
2.Did you suddenly, albeit inadvertently, start nagging him beacuse you felt you are entiltled to sharing his time.
3.Was his request for space with deep conviction or out of anger from your complaints?
4. Are you truly convinced that he is the only one with issues and there is no hope for your relationship.

After answering these questions, I would suggest that you pray seriouly about this. Have a heart to heart talk with him and then make up you mind. Whatever happens, know that you hold the key to your happiness and no one else does. Good Luck!

I don't usually like commenting on issues without adequate information. However, the moment Prof. Nnaji left the scene, I felt uncomfortable.
Why? you may ask. Because as someone said, if something is working,DON'T fix it. Things had started to improve with the Prof's road map. Suddenly stories came up.We were informed that there was complicity. Now we are told his company is owing and cannot borrow from Nigerian banks again. Will those companies still qualify or be disqualified?
I am waiting for the remaining results to see which companies will get the slots. In the mean time, I can not help but wonder why things change for the worse just when we think we are finally getting there in this country. Any ideas,my people?
Nairaland / General / Re: Values, Morals Or Beliefs Your Parents Instilled In You? by dhappyking(m): 5:39pm On Sep 25, 2012
In my family, my parents said these without necessarily using words;

1.Honesty is the best policy; They taught us to say the truth, no matter the consequences.
2.Hard work pays; They taught us to give it our all and that delayed gratification is the way to go.
3.Generosity comes back with rewards; They taught us to share whatever little we had. And when we did not have any thing physical to share, to give positive and kind words to the one in need.

I thank God for them. They made it easier for me to adopt this as a guiding principle for happiness in life.

Well, guess this is the least of the challenges faced by Nairalanders. Be that as it may. I have some shares in some of these firms. I usually saw them quoting their dividends, but I never got warrants for 2010 financial year. I went to their registrars offices in Enugu. Filled the necessary forms and after a few weeks I was invited to come and pick my dividend warrants. This implies that d unclaimed dividends may be a scheme to just hold on to and trade with the uninformed investors funds and not necessarily that the d/warrants where sent and returned as unclaimed. I shall be going for my 2011 warrants soon.H

Unclaimed Dividends Hits N52 Billion, Reps Intervene
By Goddy Egene, 23 April 2012

Unclaimed dividends in the Nigerian capital market stood at N52.2 billion as at December 31, 2011, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has said at the weekend.
SEC made this disclosure while commending the positive move by the House of Representatives to tackle the challenge posed by unclaimed dividends in the market.
The House had last Wednesday at a plenary session, passed a resolution mandating the House Committee on Capital Markets and Institutions "to investigate the high volume of unclaimed dividends in quoted companies in Nigeria and report to the House within four weeks."
SEC hailed the resolution, which came about through a motion sponsored by one Akpan Micah Umoh. Umoh had in his motion, said the unclaimed dividends were gradually mounting up to over N40 billion.
But SEC explained in a statement that the unclaimed dividends actually stood at N52.2 billion, saying that out of this figure, 84.7 per cent (N42.5 billion) was held by nine out of 23 registrars who submitted their returns.
"This legislative attention to the intractable issue of unclaimed dividends is a positive development. It was out of concern for this unfortunate situation in which return on shareholders' investment by way of dividends is perennially locked in the unclaimed dividends saga that as far back as in 2002, the SEC sponsored a bill in the National Assembly for an act of parliament which will set up the 'Unclaimed Dividend Trust Fund'.
"This fund and the Act of Parliament which set it up were intended to drastically reduce or completely eliminate the incidence of unclaimed dividend by providing alternative domicile for funds deriving from unclaimed dividends to what was stipulated in Section 382(1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act," SEC said.
That section of CAMA stated that: 'Where dividends are returned to the company unclaimed, the company shall send a list of the names of the persons entitled with the notice of the AGM to the members. After the expiration of three months of the notice mentioned in 382(1), the company may invest the unclaimed dividends in an investment outside the company. No interest shall accrue on the dividend against the company.'
However, the apex regulator of the capital explained that if passed into law, the 'Unclaimed Dividend Bill' would have removed the point of domicile for unclaimed dividends from their originating companies to another party managed Trust Fund and removed the incentive which feeds the collusion between certain players in the market to frustrate shareholder access to dividend accruals on their investment.
The commission noted that if diligently prosecuted, the investigation by committee may well hold the key to unlocking the challenge posed to the Nigerian capital markets and investor public by this phenomenon, which contributes to the erosion of confidence in the market by denying investors their rightful returns on investment.
SEC declared: "Also deserving of urgent legislative attention is Section 385 of CAMA which provides that the right of a shareholder to sue for dividends subsists only for 12 years beyond which such action becomes statute barred. This deserves review.
"The establishment of an Unclaimed Dividend Trust Fund will cure this defect by making it possible for shareholders to recover their dividends however long this may take. Certainly, a more proactive legislative oversight will complement the efforts which the SEC has made and sustained against unclaimed dividends over the years," the body added.

The big poser is 'Are these really unclaimed divideds, UNSENT dividends or a combination of both?' I will share my experience and views after some comments.
