Politics › Re: Fg To Sell Power Stations Because Operating Manuals Are Written In Chinese by DisGuy: 3:28pm On Dec 30, 2010
Guyman02:
I could remember being at a meeting with the Former Minister of Power Liyel Imoke (Now Gov of Cross river) in 2005 where he raised the same question and he was promised that the situation will be rectified by the Chinese OEM before the completion of the plant.
It seems like a strategy and deception by the Chinese to run the power plant by signing an LTSA (Long Term Service Agreement) with FG on completion.
Imoke also complained that he was being asked to approve the deployment of extra 300 Chinese expartriates and he wondered what they are coming to do in a single power plant when we have Nigerian Engineers.
Those who signed that contract should be questioned for incuring losses to the country.
Its unfortunate that the parts in the turbines do not have serial numbers making it difficult to replace.

The Chinese contractor claimed initially that the equipment was totally from General Electrics (Belfort and Schnectady USA) but the ended up supplying turbines made in Nanjing China with GE logo and when asked GE USA claimed that GE Nanjing is their subsidary and they are allowed to use Chinese manuals based on area of operation.

The reality of the situation is that GE USA and GE Nanjing entered into a partnership where GE USA supplies some key parts, while the other major components are manufactured by GE Nanjing in China. Its realy a complicated situation in Olorunshogo that arose due to poor initial contract evaluation process and insincerity of the Chinese Govt who insisted that the project must be awarded to a Chinese company based on the counterpart funding agreement with the FGN (Chinese Govt provided 30% of the funding). It also shows that foreign aid or counterpart funding to Africa is a falacy. No free lunch in London,
sorry you mean, the minister was complaining? who was he complaining to?

so the promise was never fulfilled and he went ahead to pay them right?

45.39billion for 2011 polls??

The report sounds more like its 2011 budget

The Independent National Electoral Commission is seeking an additional N45.39bn for capital and recurrent expenditure in 2011.

The way I read it was that, contracts were awarded to upgrade/refurbish the airport so it can become an international airport, the media announced it as being given an international status for some weird reason the then minister thought it was smart clarifying that it wasn't an international airport yet

the refurbishment of the Enugu airport started way before him, even without an 'international' tag a bloody plane could have landed there easily, so what they just added the word international- someone should investigate that is bayelsan Phd

Y'all should be saying 'RIP' instead of your "May Allah forgives his sins". What kinda ignorant bullsh*t statement is that? Your sins are only forgiven when you're alive and not when you're dead!  And why using Allah in-place of God? Does that mean you guys accept that Allah is not God, or that Allah is the muslem god?

Anywaz, we'll all miss U Sikiru. Hope you're in paradise where we shall see to part no more.
Who are you to tell people what to say? Why should people say RIP, what does it mean where is it from who 'started' that ? what if we decide to say it in another language, why shouldnt we say what we know or feel comfortable with?

who told you sins are only forgiven whilst u are alive? why use God yourself why don't u use Jesus if you want too abi na by force- some nigeria just carry religion for head like malu carry horn kmt

Thank you my dear.

I heard a story from a relative which goes like this :

When the Nigerian boss of a department is travelling to the US or UK for example, most of the staff in that department will normally escort him to the airport in an almost homage like fashion.

Failure to do so could be seen as not showing enough respect or worse still, as a sign of insubordination.

Madness I say.

We must rid ourselves of all this inferiority superiority complex.

It is quite common among the Nigerian elite.

I know people can talk on TV on issues but that does not necessarily mean they are all earning $300,000 or so. I mean turn on BBC, CNN etc and you see people in these fields speak as well but that don't automatically put them up there with the high earners.

My thing is I am told these particular people earn upwards of $300,000 and I am trying to verify it, to get a better understanding of what it is they do and all. I just mentioned that the pictures sort of betray the claim and the website makes the company seem like a joke. lol
I mean they dont sound or look like they're earning that much, but you should see people rushing to carry their suitcase
after smiling and chatting pure breeze

In nigeria to be honest top management in some companies do Bleep all, they have many middle managers they delegate to, they pile all the work on the junior/middle staff but some sectors dont allow you do that

followed my uncle around for a week in nigeria meeting many of these top dudes, and I kept wondering how they had so much time going for lunch several times in a day, parties midweek, welcoming parties, leaving parties, personal building projects all during working week  undecided

Those pictures don't do the figures you quoted any good oo. None of those in the pictures looks like they are worth close to $100,000 a year, let alone $300 000 a year. ROFLMAO!!!

I am not saying is all!!
Kobo you'd be surprised!!! no be this naija?

you should see some of these 'big players' on TV especially the finance topshots giving interviews or talking generally about economic policies or something like that you'd wonder
Greetings!

Who DECIDES the housing situation?  In each regions, there are different housing customs that one's follow because of tradition.  In some regions, a woman leave the family's home for the husband's familial home.  Those traditions remain current while some withers away. If the woman does not provide children or submit to the rules of the man's home she is banished and something worse happens, you figure it out.

Now the question for the MEN, would you leave your familial home and move into your wife's home?  The question for the single guys, would you SHACKwith your girlfriend just to save money?

In the West, women are owning their own homes and often time the men who do not own homes move in with the woman.  Go to show how the tables are turn and one false move the man could be homeless.
Who decides the housing situation? = condition na, like where work or business is located

No, I wont leave my family home to move into wife's home= people move out of their parents house after uni so no need for that

Yes I can shack in my girlfriends place to save money (if its closer to workplace) but I'll be paying the rent now- but no pets apart from gold fish
