^^ mutter

I think most of the comments are largely towards people not working in Nigeria or people who cant actually afford to take care of their kids with the little income they earn, thereby sending them away as house-helps or traders on the street in traffic and so on
Education › Re: Fg Names Location Of Six New Varsities by DisGuy: 12:57am On Nov 25, 2010
The establishment of the new schools is a laudable idea because, according the minister, universities in the country are grossly inadequate for the population.

“Our vision is to bring education to the doorstep of every Nigerian,” he said

Julius Okojie, the executive secretary of the National Universities Commission and chairman of the committee, said that out of over 1.3 million candidates that sit for university entrance examinations every year, only about 300,000 are eventually admitted.
What should happen to the remaining suitably qualified students who most likely dont have connections?

Even if that amount is spent on the existing ones there's absolutely no chance they'll be able to absolve tens of thousands more per year

tensor777:
That's not the issue. In fact the system needs more private universities and a total scrapping and conversion of the so-called state universities to vocational and technical colleges.
I don't know why they are even talking about this issue at all as the economy has more than enough white collar job-seekers.
Yes the system needs more private universities but there is a reason why the private sector is not rushing to establish one at the moment- they haven't got the capacity yet to run one successfully, majority of private universities are still running thanks to their owner and several church donations/Islamic sponsorship. perhaps if the salary structure and job description in nigeria was a bit better there'll be a pull to vocational/technical centres

What is double entry? does it mean you did the exam twice or someone sat for you

Better ask for an appeal or enrol at a polytechnic

The establishment of the six new universities is a good step in the right direction. How can a responsible govt watch only 16% of its youth gain admission in a year and the remaining 84% waste at home adding up with the ones not admitted in the previous years? This simply shows that more schools are needed. However, this is not an holistic panacea. The FG should concentrate more on sustaining these schools with the existing ones to meet universal standard.
+1

Private sector cant handle the matter as of now, there needs to be government intervention at some point, hope they increase funding or make some percentage of excess crude oil solely for education funding

they might even privatise some of them in the future
Travel › Re: So Britain Is Getting Leaner And Meaner by DisGuy(mod): 6:39pm On Nov 24, 2010
a step in the right direction, just unfortunate it is happening in this tough times

the conservatives have always been about small govt and frown at welfare state

let be honest some people take the pi$$ with the welfare state! you see a perfectly healthy couple coming on t.v saying they've not working for 15 years cos of some imaginary back pain or migrane or some silly sod of excuse that makes real workers look like lazy clowns- house rent paid for, free health care, free training to get back to work etc etc

LMAO was only wishing; I mean its 2010 after all,

I have always wondered why simple things are made difficult, going to Abuja to register then going back to collect just a letter is an absolute waste especially for people living far away in say Sokoto or Calabar

everything could be done online, including sending us the shirt and boot grin

watched Ferrer Vs Soldering live with some double the Bryans vs some polish guys

Soldering's got a massive serve but no killer instinct too many unforced errors, Ferrer a lil hustler very weak serve but will chase all the balls

Nicols:
My wife has been home sick and we planned travelling to the East for Christma.
Well that plan has changed because I made a call few days ago to my brother who adviced me against travelling home due to high rate of criminal activities there which includes kidnapping and armed robbery. I weep for Nija.

Anyway, I have decided to travel to Ghana with my wife and son for a 2 weeks vacation. Never been there before. Your advice will be appreciated on the most decent and affordable places to spend a vacation in Ghana. Also, do one require any visa to travel to Ghana?

Your contributions and advice will be appreciated.
are you serious about this question or just pulling our legs sad
Family › Re: My Housemaid Has Been Ordered By My Wife Not To Communicate With Me by DisGuy: 2:01am On Nov 18, 2010
To my astonishment, my wife told me that my housemaid is not authorised to communicate me because the accident was averted. I consider this a direct affront to my position as the head of the family. As the father of the house, I should be on top of every HEALTH/SECURITY issue in the family. Therefore, I think it's completely unacceptable to deny me any vital information regarding the health or security of my child. I need your candid opinion and advice on this matter.
Flinstone Caveman still exit!!!

your position? are you a defender or a striker or attacking midfielder?

father of the house LMAO na you born the cement n bricks

caveman language

knowing you are an original caveman, the woman is only taking precautions like her pastor has dreamt something will happen now the house-help is over 18 years old! you know as the head of the cavemen you might want to have knowledge of the poor girl before you driver hits the mark
