still waiting on the outcome of the meeting of the executive committee on the Owumi/Baribote issue. I dont know if they still met because Siasia was also to be unveiled on the same day. Anyways, whatever they do, they should make sure Owumi remains chairman of the NPL. The man obviously has a vision. This season, the league has taken a quantum leap from what it ever was and it can only get better with him in charge. Hardly have we had any case of crowd trouble, violence, referees being beaten up and all what nots that were hitherto bedevilling the league. I know he is not qualified to be NPL chairman but he should be allowed to continue based on what he has achieved in his short stay in office and there should be no need for another election
it's only 3-4 weeks, same was said of the previous guys in the NFA/NFF dont think its right to judge someone based on 3 months when his tenure is probably 4-5years, I think we should be harsh in judging these guys

Television is still piss poor, NTA is not pulling its weight at all, online presence is abysmal for all the clubs including the NPL itself i mean they can still do with some videos or even get some from their partners supersports, create employment by employing 5-10 extra I.T guys around the country for regular update, commercialise the league by selling jersey on behalf of the teams online and WHAT's happening with the sponsorship

there are some simple tricks like offering tickets via competition to fans- season tickets or even tickets to top four matches

^^ scrap the bloody trident too, all these oh cold war fear-tactics is really annoying, so many paranoid people out there, in fact leave it to the yanks, scrap all those bloody harriers and F-16 in the pipeline- the defence budget is a bloody waste, just prince Charles and some gun runners profiting from it selling ammos to third world and edgy arabs

I guess they were trying to be swift with the cuts but it aint happening, the civil servants are feeling it, students finishing off college and universities are facing a bleak unforgiving job market- I see several rounds of protests, train/tube workers striking and even the police will join in right after the teachers!! Osborne is not sounding too chirpy now with his red cheeks

by the end of the xmas sales the retailers will be grumbling as well, but unfortunately Laboru under this dude is extremely Lightweight! they'll need the media to actually turn on the govt

Clegg clegg cleeg on his own the guyParty is good- (at least I have always voted for them) but with the duo of Osborne and Cameron the guy is a real tosser, he cant even show his face as much any more the have returned to teh old days of public schoolboys patting themselves on the back; he has been sucked in!!

ranting over -time for another cuppa

the part i'm agreeing with is the pollution bit, there's absolutely nothing wrong with older cars just stating the environment/safety advantage of newer production methods

older cars in the UK have less stringent combustion tests so they should pass their MOT with regular maintenance, I think one of the aim oft he last scrappage scheme last year was to reduce high polluting cars

I would like to say that you my friend are the BIG FOOL, you give British people a bad name. I pray that you can accept your fellow human beings for who they are not what the colour of their skin is. God made this world for us to share together not for one race to dictate to the rest of the world. The world would be a much better place if people loved one another instead of constantly judging people for the wrong reasons.
this 'pray' statement is un-oyibo-like wink
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Night Work Or Night Duty by DisGuy: 8:49pm On Dec 02, 2010
Yes it should be encourage a global city like Lagos cannot afford to come to a halt because of darkness
it should be a 24 hour economy, there'll be more production and more jobs if people work at night especially civil engineers working on roads, drainage cleaners, road sweepers and millions of manufacturers working in industrial estate

what the government should do is provide security and better working conditions

i thought the finance minister was a MD in GS
AjanleKoko:
I think we do.
I know lots of Nigerians who are VPs, but not managing directors, at GS.
We have a lot of Nigerians, particularly the ones based in the States, in the finance sector. Maybe not so many traders sha.
As in a LOT when compared to the Indians/Asian and some Scandinavian?

then I think another thing is their extra-curricular activities thus their networks
many (African) professionals I know just do what they do nothing extra, rarely any link outside their field/profession and mostly within the African community- just my observation

It is good news.
used vehicles are potential pollutant to our environment.
Why are does vehicles rejected by the first owners?
ANS:it has developed one fault or the other. most of those vehicles have faulty combustion engine. When used, a lot of smoke (carbon monoxide) are released into the atmosphere thus polluting it.
Inhaling bits of this daily (especially cities like Lagos) reduces the life span of man. This is the major reason why death rate in cities is high compared to urban centers.
True

Older cars will probably fail pollution tests compared to newer ones
Newer cars are safer as a result of innovation and new technology/materials

Hahha Mr Finecat still around giving it to them grin

Banking here is what you get even in washington.
Yea right, the banks here require you to go to your home branch to get some service

imagine blue bank asking me where I opened my account instead of looking it up on their bloody computer
some even tell you to contact your 'home' branch so they can send you a debit card which will take 2 weeks shocked

in 2010 some still have only one cash-point outside their unnecessarily huge branches

and what's with the picture of the president and Governor they keep putting at the entrance

Cmeo,

as much as I hate to say this (cos you suffered a tough break) it was really your fault you got scammed. Before travelling you should've done your research online or checked with the airport info desk and followed that plan strictly. In every airport are these criminals and will target unsuspecting or unprepared travellers.
You'd be amazed!!

I was reading one poster's experience about Norway or one other Scandinavian country, apparently he went for company training, he couldn't attend all the lectures cos it was extremely cold especially not being prepared and he wondered how people survived there  undecided
I just wonder what sort of company employ him cos I will fire his backside for being dumb!

Hi guys,

I think its better to come back to Nigeria after MSc because life abroad is not as rosy as people think. When you come back to Nigeria, you will have an advantage over so many others in terms of your CV , so finding a job will be easier. But if u stay abroad, recruiters would rather consider their nationals and many others who have similar CVs , before considering you.

Also, in UK for instance, tax is about 40%, so you must really have a wonderful job to be living life. Dont forget the fact that the 'average' car abroad is a big car in Nigeria.

Its better to enjoy in your homeland.
But how much jobs is there really?

40%, Really?

this guy Dhruv Piplani is particularly impressive at 29 shocked

Strange that there is no Nigerian in the list. but there are quite a few Indians.

From these guys profile. it shows that modern banking is getting seriously scientific. more than a half of these guys have a technical background
Why do you think its strange?

Do you really think we have a LOT of Nigerians in these fields (on an international level) ?

no amount of money is worth the insecurity that exists in nigeria. lets be honest, one main reason why most legal residents (and i stress the word "legal"wink chose to relocate is to "oppress". They feel they have arrived and its time to show off. Nigeria is filled with people who feel they need to show of one way or the other. That is one of the reasons i love living here. who do you want to show off to? there is no complex here. you can only feel inferior if you are lazy and cant pay your bills or go over and beyond your income, which most nigerians do here. I beg, nothing beats security.
Abuja is quite safe, and some parts of lagos

^^ totally agree with you but another major reason could be to further their career or pick up new opportunities in the emerging economy, I think people that travel for holidays regularly to nigeria (instead of other destinations) are those going to oppress; after all the 'i don arrive tag' will fade after some months
