Politics › Re: Nigeria To Buy More Presidential Jets by DisGuy: 10:47pm On Aug 11, 2010
GAR3TH:
no they have a jets, here is a complete list of countries.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_transports_of_heads_of_state_and_government
they use air force jets for internal flights probably

Beaf:
There is a special section of the airforce that is dedicated to flying only the prime minister and royal family, thats way more than what Nigeria has. The prime minister also flies by chartered jets.

This link takes you to the UK section of a wikipedia article on presidential planes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_transports_of_heads_of_state_and_government#United_Kingdom
way more than wetin?

The plans received opposition from many groups; the Conservative Party condemned diverting public funds to the project from core services like health, and the Liberal Democrats and pressure groups including Transport 2000 and Friends of the Earth condemned the environmental impact of personal jet travel.[27] The UK is the only G8 country without dedicated ministerial aircraft; Peter Gershon's report also argued that chartered planes involve security risks. Tony Blair's 2006 trip to South Africa was highlighted as an example of the problems of relying on such aircraft.[28]
[edit] Cancellation

On 27 March 2008, Transport minister Jim Fitzpatrick announced via a written statement to the House of Commons that the government's plans to lease two aircraft for the sole use of the Royal Family and senior ministers had been scrapped.[29]

His statement read: "I am recommending that the needs of the users of this service can best be met through procuring a small aircraft for official travel within the UK, chartered air services for longer journeys involving small parties, and a continuation of existing arrangements with UK airlines for journeys involving large parties.

This approach ensures better value for money for the taxpayer whilst also minimising the environmental impact of royal and ministerial air travel, producing an estimated 10% saving on CO2 emissions."

The purchase of one small plane for travel within the UK was approved by the government in March 2008, and it was anticipated that RAF would discontinue service on 1 April 2009[10] but in March 2009 the £7m 12-seater private jet plans were halted by recession. The government has decided that the Queen and Royal Family will continue to fly on No. 32 Squadron aircraft for the next year to defer the cost of a new aircraft during the economic slowdown.[11] The replacement helicopter for The Queen's Helicopter Flight still took place in November 2009.

I mean this guy completely forgot a massive bridge was being built so it could get to its destination

Sorry, but Yar Adua achieved exactly nothing. Jonathan has already done more in his 3 months than Yar Adua did in 3 years.
. . .No more "baba go slow" and reciting of the "7 point agenda" while doing nothing. grin
more like Jonathan is riding on the wave of the good work done previously, at least the other one had some focal point one could get a ruler out to measure, this one is promising nothing so we cant hold him up to anything  not really smart

Cant wait till mid next year when the new boy tag will wear off, lets see what he has actually achieved by himself

his supporters will have a hard time this time next year, at the moment they are bombarding us with the same arewa, northerner topics every other second to get attention away from this lightweight with many inaudibles- they've got a lot of jabulani i tell you!

Some Nigerians are never appreciative of anything and most are crowd followers who will say anything to "seem" cool. embarassed

Do you remember the long fuel queues? They were part of everyday life just a few months ago.
Have you not noticed very positive changes to power supply?
Have you not witnessed that for the first time since independence, oil companies have set aside money to tackle oil spills?
Are you not witnessing the sincere efforts to introduce credible elections?
Have you not witnessed the ground swelling restructuring of the oil sector?

Have you not witnessed a clear difference in governing style? I will give an example; a man wilfully blocked Jonathans motorcade in Abuja. Today, that man is alive, without a scratch from the episode. He was taken to court. . . But then, some Nigerians love to be beaten up and spat on, so they might not appreciate such changes.

I could go on and on about the deep and positive changes Jonathan has brought about in 3 short months, one short post is hardly enough.
could swear you were talking about Yaradua govt here!
only difference I noticed is the the Facebook and removal of Aondaka*-probably only removed him cos he was blocking him

Jonathan cant even tell us how much is being generated at the moment, he is not sincere with the power situation
he's more interested in the elections

the police are still killing innocent people o!

so when posters repost their message it automatically bans them, usually you can report to seun who will rectify and re-install your user-name

Sports › Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 6:00pm On Aug 10, 2010
these NPL officials are so dumb, how many times has this punishment of banning people worked?

Since the police is there why cant they just arrest them and take them to court for physical assault and make sure they get a conviction, by the time players start sleeping in prison and excluded for further matches they will behave
Sports › Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 5:58pm On Aug 10, 2010
I'll attribute the empty stadium to the low publicity given to the competition. I only got to know of the competition thru' Nairaland. Didn't hear or see an advert on radio and tv. Even the sports newspapers didn't give it adequate coverage & reporting.
perhaps they were not looking to make any profit from the tournament or even achieve anything, if they can be bothered to publicise the event with all the Lagos state publicity machinery

How do multiple clubs present in a state get their funding

Like who is going to sponsor Bukola Babes and Kwara Utd now? do they both belong to the state govt?
that means sports budget will have to go up next season?

I think Fashola should try to entice one of the premier league clubs with no fixed abode back to Lagos state then re-brand them, im sure he can use one of his PPP ideas to get them cash well well

I read the lagos international youth Championship was a disaster 234Next

Investment › Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by DisGuy: 10:19pm On Aug 09, 2010
The Independent Shareholders Association of Nigeria at the weekend faulted the decision by the Securities and Exchange Commission to sack the Nigerian Stock Exchange council, describing it as a hasty action “calculated to cover up her inept regulatory inadequacies.”

The association in a statement by its national coordinator, Sunny Nwosu, at the end of its emergency General Meeting on Friday in Lagos pointed out that “the punitive massive sack (of the leadership and Council of the NSE) was done to provide soft landing for the estranged member of the council in defiance to the order of a court of competent jurisdiction.”

the article is typical bad belle. its like going to an african country and looking for their worst places to do a story on, ignoring everything else.
clintwine:
We should not mind the west and their propaganda, this is what they always do, use their media to kill what other countries are doing.
Is it not the same Uk cutting budgets and even looking at how to cut welfare?

This article is aimed at dissuading their people from travelling out to spend the money.
They always look for how to attract people into their own system to feed their financial system and run their economy.

I have studied this system carefully and seen that they don't produce anything and nothing these guys do is free, they always have a financial motive behind it.
