Kx: we keep clamouring for foreign investments but on a daily basis, the sanusi led cbn keeps churning out policy frameworks that will keep investors at bay. policy instability is not good for investment. what ever happened to the place of experience in board appointment. is this banking sector not being simply over regulated by this spate of policy redesign on predictable basis? sometimes sentiment gets the better parts of our thinking, I guess Sanusi crept into the CBN disguised as Soludo on the 31 of march 2006 just to insert this code of practise hackney: ^^^^ well said.
A policy whereby experience counts against an individual is very flawed. it's fair to regulate a director's monopoly over bank issues but having experience count against them is not a good idea. they can use their experience somewhere else including another bank, I think people with 12years experience should even be turfed out of the banking industry altogether, they should use their 'experience' if its worth anything to start their own business employ numerous graduates on the street lets see if they can hack it |

Did you see what happened to Pillars when they won the premiership?
They had to play super cup o super4, played Portsmouth, played the FA cup or coca cola cup, then teh new season started, with them playing the CAF competition they finished 6th or thereabouts
the difference between the top 6 teams is just 6 points - 2 home wins, they have to focus on the lucrative confederation and CAF competition and i don't know how much they get for each place finish |

rasputinn: Learnt Chief Oyiuki Obaseki's board has been dissolved and he's no longer gonna be probed. This is commendable as the Bini chief has really done so much for Nigerrian footy,at least in the last two years, teams have been going to play away and getting victories there, the Nigerian league is now on the world stage, two team from the EPL made it to the last four of the CAF CL with one getting to the finals
It's not yet uhuru, but he's done a lot and our football administrators should stop playing PHD politics with our football commendable because the board has been dissolved or because he's no longer going to be probed? |

http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Money/Business/5542188-146/story.cspFinance experts have affirmed that the embargo on universal banking is not likely to have adverse effects on Nigeria’s banking climate, if the requirements for such transitions are met appropriately.
Gamaliel Onosode, Chairman, Zain, and a leading boardroom player in Nigeria’s corporate environment, said the policy is a welcome one, as he did not think it was a good idea introducing universal banking into Nigeria.
“I can only say that I am delighted. After trying it for the years that they have, the Central Bank has now come to the same conclusion that I had at that time, just as when consolidation was introduced. I felt that room should have been created for banks that still desired to remain relatively small as quality is not equated with the size of the bank.”
Akinbamidele Akintola, finance analyst at Renaissance Capital, an investment firm said, “Right now, you have a situation where banks have insurance companies, stock broking companies, and all other sorts under them in the name of ‘universal banking.’ What they are hoping to do is make sure that banks focus on their core designation, like if a bank is a commercial bank, all it does is core banking activities.
“I do not think this should adversely affect the banking industry, but the concern is, does the Central Bank of Nigeria have the manpower, efficiency, and capacity to really execute this? That is the concern,” he said, adding that the CBN did not state if the new policy was to affect existing banks or interested parties.
Back to the basics
Mr. Onosode argued that the abolition of universal banking would effectively mean all smaller banks can now exist to run in a capacity that would be convenient for what they were specialised in. Why aren't the bankers opposing this new proposal? Listening to many internet warriors that think the CBN is about one man vs the other is nauseating!! |

Apart from rumours, was there any evidence it was Dangote that manipulated AP shares? when people lose out of business deals they start blaming others instead of upping their game |

An average Yoruba man: dependent, dishonest, talkative, friendly, hopeful, boastful, 1st to run, IQ - high An average Igbo man: independent, highly dishonest, sociable, entrepreneur minded, stubborn, 2nd to run, IQ - high An average Hausa man: highly dependent, honest, quiet, reserved/introvert, warmongers, last to run, IQ - low
Sorry but truth hurts. The fact remains that there can never be no genuine peace without war. we have refused to be one and yet refused to divide. the only way nigeria survives is if it is a secular state where no religion is recognised
muslims said no they must practice sharia against the will of the rest of the country and its constitution. christains said no they wont accept sharia rule. those who want to continue sharia are trying to conquer jos, hence the massacre.
now if this is the status quo what is the point of remaining one nation. we nigerians like to live in denial untill we are consumed.
we have to repeal sharia law in states where they are being practiced, enforce the necessary sections of our constitution if we want to stay together or better still we simply follow the advice Gaddaffi and simply divide.
Just wondering, do you by any chance know how the Senate or national assembly reacted back then to some state adopting Sharia, i read somewhere that it went to the supreme court or a up north court and it was allowed in the constitution?? |

Other foreign leaders have to a large extent being non-chalant or adopting the politically correct stand.Terrorist country or not, eccentric character he may be, you have to applaud him for the positive transformations he has made in Libya. that could be because the people of Nigeria are not actually agitating for it well apart from some of those online and the leaders- state governors, Representatives etc are not clamouring for it ? Foreign leaders are supporting Sudan seeing as the people are actually taking up arms and discussing it |

From North to dis side here, how much is the market they ar bringing over here dat dey would have to pay huge amount e.g. N50,000, N70,000 e.t.c on the road, before dey get to where d goods are to be delivered. Why cant u ask the Govt. what surt of silly pple do dey set on d way to start collecting money from dem? I know some one would say Tax, Is dat same taxs dat POLICE COLLECTS, FRSC, CUSTOMS, and so called tax officers collect. I want u to belive dat it affects everybody including dem (The Northerners) becos dey cant have any money to spend. What I would like to say is dat, Order should be made for all dos dubious pple dat collects money on the road to move away or else, any truck stoped unnecessaryly should keep going and if care is not taking, those silly pple may be injured. I personally think they should continue for another week or perhaps start again in March, until the state government do something. That way, traders irrespective of their products/origin will feel more comfortable doing business With all the praise fashola is getting I wonder why he has not been questioned about the role of agberos in tax collection!! He has never spoken out against them or the police who openly collect money from traders! |
