Duhh, don't you think that's because most of UK's resources in plunged into the development of london just like it's done in Nigeria.
Duhhh, London has always served as a gateway to most of the products manufactured in the past and now it actually account for a huge percentage of national GDP and stop acting like other parts of UK isnt developed, you actually have to realise other people like their culture and traditions preserved and not washed away by some glittering light on a tall square building

England's capital is London. The City of London is London's major financial district, and one of the world's leading financial centres. The city is where the London Stock Exchange, as well as many other exchanges, are based.

Service industries, particularly banking, insurance, and business services, account by far for the largest proportion of GDP and employ around 80% of the working population.

Leeds is the UK's second largest financial centre[2], with over 30 national and international banks based in the city[3]. Over 124,000 people are employed in banking and financial services in Leeds, and over in the wider Leeds City Region[4][5][6].

I started getting an error message since yesterday right from when i start the computer, I have downloaded and ran some free software- including Wise Registry Cleaner, it showed a lot of missing and damaged registry have been cleaned or repaired but this nagging one is still bugging me almost every 4seconds

I have gone to check windows\mstrodlc.dll, google is not coming up with anything about this error, I have read many entries via google pointing to various security systems clashing, could taht be the problem as i have recently installed MSE and Avira some weeks back  undecided

Does anyone know a solution to this error?
Can i delete this c:windows\mstrodlc.dll as i don't know what it is
unfortunately i have not set up a a back up so I'm avoiding the rebooting option

just to pour some petrol

Can anyone provide stats to the ethnic make up of the NNPC between 2000-2007 ?

Princek12:
OK, my bad, the rate at which NNPC will become dysfunctional is directly proportional to the percentage of new Northerners who are in top management, so expect that the NNPC will be operating at 86% below normal operating capacity. Does someone have a link to the qualification of the new appointees to top management positions, so we can check whether they are qualified for the position to which they are appointed?
Exactly when the SS was heading the organisation, the NNPC was operating at 100 % jet speed, petrol was everywhere no downtime at all, and if there was it was probably because they hausas were playing politics grin

Those cities are mediocre. You can't compare them with cities in America for example.
Ah I now remember you from the new york vs London thread

afam4eva:
At least london should not be way more developed than other cities.
Your definition of developed is tall square building with shiny glass absolutely no character just shiny tall building
don't make a place developed, visit or should i say google cultural heritage site and cities likes cambridge, Bristol, Oxfordshire you will see places with rich history not unsightly tall square buildings

its Don ignorant afam4eva again!! roll drums.  .  .

Its only amatuer travellers that will rush to England and conclud that london is the only developed city in the country! When you consider the average nigerian traveller who want to go to popular places only instead of exploring and spending a bit of money researching places with cultural values you get the picture afam is trying to paint

The typical first time tourist visit popular places they seen on telly or discussed amongst themselves so that when they get back they have some brownie points with the ignorant joneses- when infact they have saved money by cramping themselves with friends and family in little london  grin
Check: why dont african holiday in other african countries

cheaphost:
I've noticed that England is a one city country. London seems to be by far the most important city in that country. Almost every Nigerian that goes to England lives in London. Infact they tell you they are traveling to London even if it's manchester they are actually going to.

England is not like america where there are loads of mega cities. NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Boston, Atlanta, miami etc.
Duhh thats because it is one of the biggest financial city in the world!

Duhh thats because they have access to afro-caribbean communities and as they say safety in numbers

I was checking the internet the other day and came across some advice that sunk my heart. The dude basically said first-time car buyers should not buy luxury or good-looking cars because of the amount of accidents that are sure to deface the car. He also said stuff about not buying a fast car like Benz and going for cars like Honda that are 'simple' and 'efficient'. Is this true and what are the factors a first-time car buyer should consider in getting a car?

Which kain new story be dat?
Lagos was not mentioned anywhere, neither was any place in SW, it is only places in SE and SS. Witness;
here, plus he is having this meeting in enugu! it makes sense to mention these areas

Shutalim who is the National Secretary of Amalgamated Cattle Dealers Association, announced that all the Northern cattle and food unions would participate in the exercise to draw government attention to the plight of the traders.

Shutalim said, ”If we are transporting cattle and other foodstuffs to the South, some states are blocking us and collecting money from us. If you buy something in Maiduguri and you are bringing it to the South, nobody disturbs you in Yobe, Bauchi, Plateau and Nassarawa. But as soon as you come to Makurdi, you start facing extortion and it extends to Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Akwa-Ibom and Cross River.

”We have been paying it. We have decided not to be paying any longer. That is why we are complaining to the Federal Government to stop them. If the Federal Government didn‘t intervene, we will stop the supply of all types of food from the North to every part of Nigeria. We are going to stop until the officers concerned intervene. We are not going to be paying double taxation in federal highway.”

He said it was worrisome that members of the unions are forced to pay N16,000 tolls to bring their goods into Lagos, but even at that, they were still subjected to various levies before such products are offloaded for sale in the city.

He said that there was no reason why the cattle and food dealers who are Nigerians should be subjected to such taxation and extortion, adding that those demanding levies from them along the highways were taking laws into their hands.

He disclosed that the unions had set up a committee to monitor the strike and ensure that none of their members moved any product from the North to the South until the Federal Government intervenes in the matter.

detopshot:
The reason is simple: from makurdi to cross river, then to the east and west, is where you find the worst roads in nigeria. so probably they tax the drivers to raise some funds for maintenance. if you doubt, travel from cross river to Abuja then notice the change in road network once you enter nasarawa state. who would be happy? Quote me anyhow you want!
Hmm i think most of these taxes they are complaining about are illegal fess collected by policemen and other agberos in Lagos and different parts of the country

useless thread, when an educated person decide to deliberately skew headlines just for reaction you can tell he/she is more than jobless

funny thing is its not only northern traders experiencing this

Another thing i have problem with is the timing of the threat. Why is it at this time, that there is power struggle between North and south, that the remember the injustice of paying levies in the south, Levies they had been paying for more than 20 years. Then even if they want to issue threats, they are issuing it to the wrong quarters. They should issues threats to the Federal government concerning the bad roads and illegal levies as done by Oil tanker drivers and not to southerners as a whole.
oh please the struggle between south north is only in your head and several people on nairaland, last time i check nobody on the street of Lagos gave two shyte about this internet struggle

when tank driver go on strike, nobody equates it to a political move but when traders who have genuine concerns raise a voice its political

Politics › Not A Single Job Vacancy In Lagos State? by DisGuy(op): 5:39pm On Mar 07, 2010
so the government of lagos state launched (insert big party) a jobportal for residents but alas no single vacancy on the site

In a bid to be more proactive in dealing with the huge unemployment rates in the city, the Lagos state government launched a job registration website, www.jobcreation.lagosstate.gov.ng, on February 16, 2010. During the launch, Governor Babatunde Fashola said the initiative was aimed at tackling the high unemployment figures in the state.

“The website is another opportunity for youth who are still unemployed to become self-reliant by linking up to the free website for job registration,” said Mr. Fashola, who was represented by his deputy, Sarah Sosan, during the launch of the web portal at the Lagos State Auditorium, Ikeja.

“The new reality is that, this platform will encourage and promote government policy on public-private partnership programme (PPP) and also, serve as reference point for data collections and demographic study for our wealth creation programmes.”

Is it that there is no job in Lagos or the government cant be bothered to approach development partners/companies to list their vacant positions there?

It's hard to do business in Nigeria and keep your integrity. I couldn't ever bring myself to ridiculously marking up products and so this (in addition to my staff using my store to sell stolen products) led to the downfall of my business.

Another story for my kids. For now I'll stick to service industry businesses.

Warri Wolves Offers Shares To Public
By SportsDay Reporter | 3 March 2010 - 10:15pm FOOTBALL WORLD
Glo Premier League side Warri Wolves is offering shares for sale in a novel bid to professionalise the club for profit making and people acceptability, so says Delta State FA Chairman, Amaju Pinnick, who also oversees the club.
“In order to live the dream of a solid structure, enviable ownership and passionate followership, a deal of partnership is being sought for Warri Wolves Football Club to assert itself in the pedestal of financial autonomy”, he said in a release.
Under the new order for shares allotment which has been broken into five categories of bronze, silver, gold, diamond and platinum, interested parties are expected to pay N10,000 each for 100,000,000 shares available, silver will pay N25,000 each for 200,000, 000 shares available, gold card holders will pay N50,000 each for 250,000,000 shares available, diamond card holder will pay N500,000 each for 250,000,000 available shares, while platinum card holders will N2,000,000 for 60,000,000 available shares.
only in Nigeria, they want to sell shares without showing people the financial statement of the club- thats if they even have any seems everything is done by the governor

I won't say the cabal has won. The demands they made were fairly reasonable IMO.

People, Jonathan has to thread softly because Yar'adua is still
alive and remember he is president in an acting capacity.

I believe the troop buildup around abuja and aso rock (without his knowledge) should
be looked into and if possible, heads should roll. But it cannot be done in a haste.

Jonathan needs to let the unruly northern elements understand that he is not anti-yar'adua and
at the same time, assert himself by putting his foot on the ground. He has already shown he is up
the task by quickly replacing Aondoakaa as AGF.

As someone has stated, too much gra gra is not the solution to this fuming situation.
weak weak weak, your acting president is weak plain and simple! he even gets hassled by mere advisers and wife of the president who don't have constitutional powers!

so who should look into this the same cabals?
