whitebeard: Pls don't compare Nigeria with Japan/Korea/China. These countries invested heavily in morals and they have been doing this even before the brits thought of coming to Africa. What about Nigeria. We have invested heavily...we have the biggest churches..some of the shinyest* mosques..well paid ifa royals, sultans and elders... What do you think we have been investing in...business centres |

babadee1: There are thousands of Nigerian trained doctors practising in countries all over the world and doing extremely well. What is it about Nigeria that the same doctors who perform poorly here perform so well abroad? maybe because they know there are systems in place in which their whole career will be over if investigated and found guilty! Things they do in Nigeria they wont get away with anywhere else! |

Sometimes you get the feeling many Nigerians are upset that the system isn't' built with immigrants in mind...dont these people know we want to build mansion in our village and receive chieftaincy title in record time! Why are they taxing us and making us pay bills?!?! |

Myati: It's practically impossible anywhere unless ofcourse they are not spending a dime of their salary which is again unlikely .
If a doctor in the NHS earns 38k, which is about 3100 gross per month. His total deductions per month including pension ( which btw is a lot in the NHS) would be about 1100 and this is me being generous by the way. He/she is left with 2k then comes the bills.. So pray tell how the hell are they saving 2k a month. There are different levels/grades, no? Locum rates, overtime, unsocial hours.... |

IsaacBuchi: For a want of a better thread to ask this, please @justwise @DisGuy can you kindly help me with this? A friend of mine wants to travel out. This is his first time. He found one consultant like that looks truthful. He was asked to pay 64K to apply for the visa, once he passes the interview and gets the visa then he can pay up the remaining sum of 500k. Does this sound genuine? Do you have any advice and or any consultant you can reffer him to? If there is any link to a thread that would be helpful too I'll greatly appreciate it.
Please, he would like to start the applying today, so a snappy reply would be gracious appreciated. Thanks in advance. Your friend wants to travel out for? Studies, vacation, family? Tell him to get the form and fill it himself, if he's having problems filling it in- he can ask for help Follow any of the threads on Nairaland and other resources to get an insight into interview process. |

Nigerian law is so confusing....
One.minute you see a 'senior' lawyer arguing for something using the constitution next minute another senior lawyer argues against it using the same constitution...perhaps another subsection paragraph abc..
You rarely see a british lawyer quoting constitution up and down
Anyone care to quote the law and interprete it here or its the usual |

NeeKlaus: 11) Those who never come to the Banking hall with their own pen: These kind of people are quite annoying. Why can't you have your own pen? Must you disturb me? Funny enough, it cuts across all classes as somebody like Otedola has borrowed my pen at Zenith's Ikeja branch (I am not a Liar, please. ) Young guys use this as an excuse to start up conversations with the attractive ladies in the banking hall and so far, it has been working.
You begin to wonder why home training wasn't included in the Constitution. I've always wondered why nigerian banks dont offer customers pen! they could have several chained to the desks or just customize pens with their name its soo cheap! |

claremont: I honestly don't know how people can live in London and still maintain their sanity. I just arrived at my hotel for a training tomorrow. I spent 4 hours driving on the motorway from the North-East, I then spent another 2.5 hours in Central London traffic trying to get to the hotel in Croydon from the M1. This is going to be my life every month till the middle of next year, and I'm so not looking forward to it.
Thankfully, there hasn't been snow up North today as compared to those of you who live down south and the midlands. The kind of snow we get up North, when it comes, is a special kind of snow. It's the kind of snow and black ice that normally makes the faint-hearted lose the will to live.
Anyway, I'm having my normal mix of Guinness and a shot of JD to step down after the long drive. Oyinbo people like to sell coloured water to us and call it Guinness, which is why I normally pour a shot of JD inside to upgrade their coloured water to at least the same alcoholic content as proper naija Guinness. Trains, tubes, buses, cabs....it's all linked and driving in London especially central is a big hassle |
